  1. To me it says :- I can think for myself, I am not a sheep. I value reliability and customer service. I am not concerned with what people think of me, I am happy to be different. I value craftsmanship and individuality as well as luxury. I am not a petrol head but enjoy a comfortable relaxed drive. I am part of the enlightened minority.

  2. Picked up my new NX Luxury in Mesa Red from Lexus Swindon this afternoon. No doubt it will take me a while to get to grips with the new navigation system and the touchpad, but so far it all seems very nice 😀 I must also thank Rob, James and all at Lexus Swindon who have been great to deal with - not to mention incredibly patient - throughout my trials with the previous NX Sport. Lexus UK also deserve thanks. The promise of this level of customer service is one reason why I chose a Lexus in the first place, and it's nice to see it is real even though I wish I'd never had to find out! I'm off to play with my new toy...🙂

  3. How’s it going everyone? First post for a while since the little man arrived 😀 back on the 28th September. All is going well and he’s safely back home now and coming along nicely. I’m enjoying some PAT leave and inbetween bottles of milk and bouts of screaming (mainly from baby Corey, sometimes from me!) I’ve had time to let my mind run away with me and have collected my next ISF upgrade from the local powder coaters today. I've been looking at wheel upgrades since I’ve had the car but nothing really set my pulse racing. I was looking through some old photos last week and found some pics of my R32 Golf (MkV) that I had fitted with Porsche Alloys. I properly loved the look and the fact that it was a relatively (at the time) rare set up. That set me thinking as to what other prestige brand wheels would fit the ISF and after a little research I found what I think will be an ace set up. I picked up the wheels on Saturday, dropped them off at the powder coaters the same day and picked them up today. I’ll be getting the tyres switched and the wheels fitted in the next week or so and I’ll add some more pics then. So, take a seat Dav! I’m not sure these will meet with your approval and the shock may take it’s toll on your delicate and brand focussed disposition! Here is is a little peek at my next wheels and yes, I intend to use the original centres! Controversial!! These are Aston Martin V8 Vantage Alloys, 19 x 8.5 front, 19 x 9.5 rears. They will fit the same as my OEMs with the 15mm H&R track spacers I’m currently using, the same flush outboard fitment but with an extra 0.5 inch of inboard fitment which is fine given the OEM wheels without spacers used to sit 15mm further into the wheel wells. These have been media blasted to bare metal then powder coated in BMW Metallic Orbit Grey. The centre caps are brand new genuine units. Who knew centre caps could cost that much! Hatemail to the usual address please!! 😀🤓😝 Enjoy!!

  4. After about six months of ownership I thought I would pop some of my thoughts down. I came from a Mercedes GLC, I wanted to go cheaper so tried to get a Suzuki vitara. I didn't even get as far as a test drive, both the dealers in my area are that bad! One completely ignored us fo half an hour so we left. The other had a hand scrawled sign on the door stating "out, back in about 5" so foiled again. I then wanted to look at the Volvo xc40. Booked test drive, arrived to find they hadn't got a petrol model but could have 10 minutes in there diesel one!!! We left. Then onto the Lexus dealer, what a difference, " yes of course you can put your dog in it, treat it as your own, what's the point in only driving a short time etc". We ordered one. i like it very much. A couple of things the GLC does better, when in reverse and the wipers come on it wipes the rear and the camera pops in and out so is always clean. Also the kick to open tailgate I'd like on the nx. Other than that I prefer most things on the Lexus. In summery, good move if not what was intended!

  5. Four months into GS F ownership I finally got around to taking some pictures. So here it is, early car with fixed dampers, sonic titanium with red leather, Mark Levinson but no sunroof -perfect spec for me. The plate doesn't really suit but came off my V10 Phaeton which the F replaced. Plan is to keep it forever -one of the reasons I chose it over an M5 or AMG. I love the sense of occasion you get when driving, and the Jekyll and Hyde character. And, of course, the noise! I feel very fortunate to own three of the best sounding cars ever -the GS F, an S54 BMW Z3 M Coupe and a Gordon-Keeble. Hi to everyone on the forum! Mike

  7. Small update, my valve covers are finally back! Good things come to those that wait, they have turned out fantastic! The pictures really do not do this colour justice at all especially the far away shot of the bay, the finish is flawless. The work was done by maldon shot blasting and powder coating http://www.ctc-powder-coating.co.uk/ there colour range is outstanding with alot of wild colours. Now i know its looks a bit disjointed at the minute but once its all done it will look great (in my opinion of course 😎) Brake calipers will also be this colour or very similar so it wont be the only orange bit on the car. Roll on black friday for some more parts

  8. I was speaking to the service manager of Lexus Sidcup today and I happen to mention to him this car for sale. He told me that they aren't allowed to touch it for any work, even an oil change. For a service, the customer drops it off to the dealer, who then contact Lexus UK. Lexus UK send a covered car transporter down to take the car to Belgium, where the Lexus technical centre for Europe is located apparently. They then carry out any work before sending it back. I suppose if you can afford the LFA, you could just use one of your other cars in the meantime. Perhaps slum it in an Aston for a few days

  9. @Bluesman I think his problem with the image is - as he put it - that it's '...a bit golf club.' There's an element of the Alan Partridge effect in that description i.e. the image in his perception is that of the self-made middle classes or we could call it 'new money.' He also won't consider Audi, BMW or Volvo for a variety of reasons, some also image related. It's not something I'd really thought of when I bought mine, and having had a variety of cars over the years the 'image' isn't something that personally bothers me. I prefer to buy what I like and I agree with @PaulWhitt20 completely. Mind you, being hypocritical, I wouldn't consider an Audi or BMW because I don't like the brash image that is my perception of those brands. I was just curious to see what others thought.

  11. At least the LS400 is worth investing that kind of money in, not every car would be!👍

  12. Same with the NX. Also, when you drive over to the continent, you have to adjust the time manually. Came back from France on Saturday and had to adjust both the dashboard clock and the system/satnav clock... and do the same again on Sunday morning. Good thing is that I gain not one, but two hours sleep. Yay! I wonder why the time change is not automated...

  13. You could swap front to back to see if it helps but it's a lot of hassle. It sounds like you need new tyres soon anyway so it wouldn't be a bad move methinks.

  14. As Lex Loafer said set daylight saving to off. Did ours on Sunday and was amused to see the analogue clock wind itself back one hour. I'm easily pleased, though! JBP

  16. It is - the engine is one of the best engines ever made from a reliability issue. No timing gear issues, no bearing issues, no issues with fuel pumps or injectors. You just need to change the oil, every 10k plugs every now and then and put petrol it. The DFI system makes it a very very economical car. Quite why anyone would consider a diesel when they could drive this defies all logic.

  17. Soft close is wonderful. One of those things you never knew you wanted, but once you have it . . . Sadly it means you walk away from other people's cars leaving their doors hanging 😞

  18. See the noise from the injectors, it’s annoying but the fuel economy is very good. I average 40mpg, best I’ve seen is over 50mpg. At 75mph it does 40mpg, at 90mph around 30mpg. It’s diesel like economical and as you say the sound when you gun it is mesmerising and it sings above 4K. With DFI engines you do need to rev them all the way round to stop carbon build up. Mine gets to meet the redline at least once every 100miles or so - I make a point of it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  20. mate, I have had 2 previous black cars and vowed and declared I would never have another, yet here I am! bite the bullet dude, its super hard coating that will at minimum prevent it getting worse for the next 18-24 months!!

  21. Must admit i dispare at my paint at times, if I look at it the wrong way it seems to mark. The black shows everything! Tried all sorts on it, going to have to bite the bullet, get it corrected and ceramic coated.

  22. Agree with the above. It’s not going to get any better. Get them changed whilst under warranty 👍🏻

  23. I've got one of these and although I've not yet needed it to start the car, it's been in the boot for about a year and is still holding 75% charge, so I know it'll be there if or when I do need it. Incidentally, it takes very little power to get the car into the READY state but I wouldn't buy a smaller capacity unit in case someone else with a 'normal' car needs help.

  24. Lol, not much chance of that! As others can vouch, car isn’t very stealthy in the noise department, so you’d know I was coming! 😉😂😂 Do tend to find most cars get out of my way, strange that...... 😂😂😂

  25. Bit of a sweeping statement as even the most reliable cars can have problems. I took the 2 year extended warranty on mine for peace of mind (after the original warranty expired) - one year in the screenwash bottle sensor stopped working. Yes I could have lived without it but the extended warranty covered the fix. It did bring home to me about the cost of repairs when they are needed. It was £400 to replace the screenwash bottle sensor so I've had one years worth out of the extended warranty already for just a very minor fix. Everyone's appetite for risk is different so the OP should make his decision for his own peace of mind.
