  1. I just joined this forum which I have been watching up to multiple times each day since I ordered my NX450+PP on 28 October 2022. I want to say thank you for the emotional share, information, tips and knowledge which helped me navigate a long wait in a vacuum of information which culminated in definitive news that my car was awaiting its final checks last week, and my dealer calling me on Wednesday this week to tell me that he would deliver the car to my home on Friday 25 August 2023. Since its arrival, I have managed to set up Lexus Link +, got Apple CarPlay running, plugged in, fully charged, and spent time figuring out and driving a superb vehicle that is EV quiet, comfortable, nippy, and almost able to drive itself. For those of you still waiting, the wait is worth it. The car, which is a 2024 model with 14" and 'moon roof' looks great in Sonic Titanium with Hazel trim and black alloys. It arrived with a paper manual and one key, and the promise of another key in a week. I am back from the first motorway and country lane blast, which took me to Castle Combe, and I am looking forward to much more of that.

  2. How incredibly odd @Deb. To get so close to Portbury and then...turn around?! 🤔 There must be something weird and wonderful which we don't know about... I suspect @Ken R offers the best explanation amongst us, here. Welcome to the forum, Kurt! I hope you're well! I suspect if you've been keeping an eye on this forum and particularly this thread, you probably feel as though you already know some of us! Believe me, this place has been literally my number one source of information. If it wasn't for this place with some incredibly helpful members, I would have still been completely in the dark with regards to my May 2022 order until the last couple of months. In the last twenty years of buying new cars (I can extend that to 25 if I also include my father's that I've been involved with), I have never come across not only a wait of this nature but also such a lack of care/information from the brand. It has genuinely astounded me - and that's a hard thing to do. As things stand...and there's still time for something else to go wrong with my order given how the rest of it has been treated...I'm due to collect my NX this coming Friday, which will be 1st September. At least I know the car is sitting there at the dealer now, which is genuinely reliving and came as welcome news. I believe mine is also a MY24 car, but that's purely down to what I've been told on here. Otherwise I'd be none the wiser. Also, even though I know the car is there, I still haven't been told anything about the second key/locking wheel nut issues and if I'm affected or not. I'm assuming others who have theirs were lumped with this disappointing news on collection day. I'll very likely be discussing the business of whether it's been worth the 16 month wait or not over the next couple of weeks or so. It's been an incredibly long time coming, this car. Notably more than most. All I can say is fingers crossed all goes well, or as well as can be, for me on 1st September.

  6. TBH I didnt feel much of anything. It almost felt like the car had stalled and the associated jerk with it. Suppose at the end of the day it is basically a 2 tonne vehicle. I didn't look at the protection plate, my car literally went around the back of Lexus Leeds and 2 hours later came back out nice and clean! Ive informed insurers LV, theyve taken everything down and confirmed the car is insured. I just need to provide them with details of the garage I am taking it to for repairs and they will co-ordinate everything Was also offered a hire vehicle straight away which I dont need but it seemed like they were trying to push for me to take it

  7. Maybe if you had not been there in your Lexus the Golf would not have stopped for the pedestrian either. But bad luck and hope you get it all sorted ok.

  10. Hi Malcolm, With the SC430 so far I have only found the one sensor under the heated seats switch and that one is not adjustable. As I said before there is at least another sensor somewhere or maybe even 2 which may also be the fault cause?

  12. Hello James. I no longer have my LS400 DHP but I do remember when I bought it (many years ago) with 130,000 miles on it the front tyres rubbed on the inner arches at full lock. I just assumed the front springs were a bit tired and had sagged. The car handled fine and went through several MOT tests with no mention of the front springs. I cured the problem by changing tyre size from 245 down to 235, the very slight difference in tyre profile height was enough to stop the rubbing. Regards. Steve.

  14. Wherever you go, get up very early for a dawn drive. Enjoy empty roads and the best time for photography, then back to the B&B / Hotel for a full Scottish breakfast. Follow with a nice walk, pub lunch, afternoon nap, then a late afternoon drive or more booze depending on how long the pub-lunch was.

  19. I know in my Mk3 Ls400 the solution was to a) keep metallic bits and bobs out of the centre armrest console and b) to turn the alarm button to zero/ right down when you get to it underneath the centre console as mentioned with access afore There was no need for me to buy a new sensor ...... just to wind it down ! 20. That I know and you are correct - the classic saloon will always be the cheapest, simply because they are most common. Not every car model will have all 4 body types, but for example BMW 3-Series historically did. What I have observed over long period of time... after saloons then comes cabriolets despite being probably the rarest (I could speculate maybe classic convertibles are too much pain even for enthusiasts), then coupes (which for long time were most desirable) and nowadays estates often cost just as much and sometimes even more than coupes. And that is despite estates clearly being more utilitarian e.g. coupes and convertibles usually comes with more options, like leather, bigger engines, factory body kits etc. And this is not singular examples, I was looking at vintage car auctions, especially in US and estates very often commends premium even over coupes, which is a somewhat new trend of maybe last 10 years. Just kind of find it strange, but not sure if that translates to demand for new estate cars.

  21. Wise words!!! Scotland has some epic roads. When transmitting between one epic road and the next, there’s a good chance you’ll stumble upon many great roads! As a Welshman, I’d describe Scotland as Wales on steroids! Adore the place!

  22. Thank you all! I've since made the decision to go to standard (KYB) springs and dampers. Lexus don't have any stock of OEM springs. The chap I spoke with had no idea about DHP. The DHP springs were sagging so much, I was 20mm into the bump stop/spring aids. So there was no way to resurrect them! The new springs and dampers are great. But the biggest revelation has been fitting new steering rack bushes. Even torquing the older bushes higher on the clamps was a benefit. No more steering column shake. One day soon I'll do a long post on my chassis renewal if people are interested! Thanks again James

  24. This seems all very very subtle manouevering to weak to a very sensitive driver the immense power the V8 gives in sometimes oddball ( but quite normal ) driving I'm not at all sure that I would, in the moment, find myself thinking about flicking that switch whilst my mind is concentrating on some instant and maybe unexpected driving situation occurring Maybe that's why I leave mine ( in my Ls400s ) in PWR mode permanently ...... and the mpg seems better too ! 25. Regarding classic cars, estates are rarer than the equivalent saloon. As you say they were regarded as utility and used as such. Classic pickups are very expensive for the same reason I guess. in the past I never liked estates - I always chose the standard 3 box saloons.

  27. I had one for 3 years. I'd come from an RX400h so the 4 cyclinder engine seemed noisy and a bit feeble but apart from that it was a lovely car and had no issues with it in the time I owned it. I wouldn't worry about 40k mileage at all. Lexus cars are very robust and seem to be well looked after, at least the four I bought second-hand had been.
    1 point
  28. Generally speaking if changing to all season or winter tyres you should really change all four. With the RX it is a square setup - what you could do is change the wheels over front to back and when they all wear to around 3mm get them all swapped for all seasons

  32. Hi James and welcome to the LOC. There are presently 3 LS400s of your year (95-97) being broken on eBay one of which I have linked below. https://tinyurl.com/tcuhyay4 For the others just type Lexus LS400 breaking into the search box. Part numbers you quoted, the LH (NS) indicator is correct but the LH (NS) headlight is coming up on the database as 81150-50140. Amayama is showing as obsolete so little chance of buying either new, but at £400.00 for the headlight perhaps a good thing. Make sure if you do buy a used one that the fixing lugs are intact, the bolt holding the headlight to the wing tends to shear off if not removed with care. If you need any help with fitting let me know.

  33. Hi Anthony, I kept the manky ones that came off. I will take some pics and post them over the next few days. It's such a blindingly obvious thing to do (post event obvs🙂) considering the amount of work they have to do and the twisting effect constantly on them. My car has just passed 76k and they look like the originals. I cannot emphasise enough the magic it has worked on the driving experience. Best regards. Nick

  34. Hi Nick Thanks for that, I was contemplating what the first step should be when tackling suspension improvement and I think your idea gets 1st prize! How many miles has your car done and is it believed that the ones replaced were the originals? (A pic would have been brilliant) Anthony

  38. If you want to stick with an RX then this would be the obvious route to take, but given you have a relatively new car you would likely take a big hit in depreciation if you were to change now. I would suggest keep what you have for now and either get a Gen 5 towards the end of production or wait and see what a Gen 6 might offer. I am guessing there may be a Gen 6 that would meet the UK legislation for hybrid sales until 2035.

  41. Had a full service today at this dealership (new to me) and will certainly go back again. Nice & spacious inside that seemed to be bigger than a number of other dealer I have visited, spotlessly clean of course and nice range of new vehicles to look around at (RX450h+ looked real nice) and staffed by very pleasant people esp Laura at the service desk. Asked if they give a discount for club member sponsors and that they did @15% so a tidy saving on the full service that mine was due simply as a result of its age, only one advisory (with a wee video so I can see myself) of a nearside rear trailing arm bush that has seen better days (wonder how hard that is for DIY) BTW for those who can recall the issue of my offside front wiper arm that caused my an issue (?) The tech man doing the service sorted it by bending it back where it was supposed to be & resetting the wiper(s) sweep. So a thumbs up from me and hope it helps others.

  42. Just heard from the Lexus dealer: Destinations can no longer be sent to the car with the introduction of Lexus Link Pro – as the navigation is much better and easier to operate on the touchscreen, and you have Apple CarPlay, that feature has been deemed unnecessary and therefore removed. Regarding the units of measurement, we have noticed that this is the case with our demonstrators but no way of changing it, so we have raised this with Lexus and will let you know what their response is.

  44. For adaptive front lighting you push the stalk away from you to switch on the main beam. The system will engage high beam at the minimum speed limit and slice the light pattern so it doesn't interfere with other road users. It will also place a bright spot into corners as you turn rather than straight ahead.

  46. I have just installed the Coyote alert system as a free download via MyLexus. The subscription is free for the first three years and would cost €99 per year on renewal. Compatibility is limited to the CY17 navigation system. I'm not sure if the Coyote is offered for all Lexus models in all countries, the 2019 RC being a very recent addition for Italy alongside the ES, UX and LS and maybe others. I know the three-year deal was already available and actively promoted at least in France (where Coyote is headquartered) and Spain in 2018 simultaneously with the introduction of the CY17 system. I further understand that Coyote would in any case be included in the Apple CarPlay apps suite, which, it is rumoured, will soon be available for owner download or, more likely, dealer installation. I am as yet unable to judge how useful the Coyote device might be. It has so far only alerted me of the presence of fixed speed cameras of which I was already aware. Not that such reminders are necessarily a bad thing. Real-time warnings of accidents, queues and stationary vehicles, roadworks etc. inside a 30km radius will certainly be useful for long motorway drives.
