Is The Is200 The Best Car You've Ever Had/owned?

Recommended Posts

well, i had:

'89 Corolla E9 Hatchback

'89 VW Scirocco GT

'94 BMW 316i E63

'99 Avensis 2.0TD

'03 Celica S Wittmann Edition

now i'm driving the '02 IS200 (since March '08), I really like it but currently its out of order cause still I'm waiting for my new clutch :-(

it’s a great ride, but I'm missing my Scirocco an I would trade the IS any time for one…

I had

Peugeot 206 (Yes, I was on drugs)

Civic Type R

W reg Lexus IS 200 Sport

Seat Cupra R

BMW 330ci Sport

and now 02 reg Lexus IS 200 Sport

So going by I had two lexus then I would say that this is the best car I've owned. :-) Smooth, quiet and looks stunning with the styling kit.

But I do think the Civic and Cupra are different cars to the lexus and they give something totally different (Power and torque), a bit hard to compare.

X Reg Ford Focus 1.4l (Good handling but gutless, now my brothers.)

X Reg IS200 Sport

C : 1985 1.3 Vauxhall Astra in British hearing aid beige (cost me £200)

F : 1989 1.3 Vauxhall Cavalier (big car, small engine.... hmmm)

P : 1996 1.4 VW Golf (reliable... that's it)

L : 1994 2.0 Honda Accord (£500 emergency buy, ABS faulty and overheated regularly)

J : 1992 2.0 Audi 80 (very basic but fantastic car. only real problem was with the heater matrix)

V : 1999 2.0 Lexus IS200 Sport

I'll admit, there are a few niggles with the Lexus that annoy me, not least the clutch judder when setting off or the 'thud' when you drop it into 2nd but hardly surprisingly given the above list, it's by far my favourite so far. I've always thought it was a stunning car to look at and it really does feel good to roll through town in it. Not cheap to run but I knew that anyway so I'll just have to deal with it.

Last car was an old style 2001 Saab 9-3, only thing I miss about that is the turbo & an extra 45bhp! the Lex has much better build quality and definetly to date is the best car i've owned by miles :)

Well to date I have owned.

'98 S - Citroen Saxo VTR (First car)

'01 Y - Citroen Saxo VTS

'88 F - Peugeot 205 GTi

Tomorrow I pick up my next car, a Lexus IS200 Sport, so i'll report back after that, it's going to be completely different from my french hatchbacks thats for sure! ;)

Kiriyama - What colour is your sport fella? I live in Crewe & work in Newcastle under lyme so I will keep an eye out for you.

I would say best all round package :D , but for little niggles would have to go with

celica vvti sport for its great climate control system,

mr2 turbo for pure fun (except in the rain when it became a death trap) and

my first car (hideous gold metro) which you could fix with a hammer and sticky tape - no garage required ! :blink:

~~~~~~~
lexus is300 (just started on the mods)
02 celica vvti (great car but totally impractical with new baby)
W bmw 320i (loads of mods)
R? MR2 turbo (fun but scarey)
R Vaxhall Cavillier (horrible - poured water out, heating packed up, brakes failed etc etc) :sick:
?? Metro (indestructible - trebled in value when put mountain bike on it)
Yes by far...cars i've drove
Ford Orion (hardest car to drive...no power steering!)
Ford escort (Kept breaking down)
Ford fiesta (scared the hell out of me when it couldn't get up this hill in first gear!)
(Yes, i was stupid enough to make the same mistakes 3 times in a row lol)
Toyota Corolla (Nice car, just can't see sod all out of the rear window...its the type with the notch back and it rises higher towards teh back)
Honda Civic (very reliable car, even after 9 Yrs)
Lexus is200 (expensive to keep, but never let me down)
You can see me working up the ranks after a long downfall lol and tbh...i really don't intend to sell it or trade it as of yet, as parts fail, i will upgrade it. I still get people from work saying its a 01 car, you should trade it in and get a newer car. But im very picky when it comes to something i want and the lexus really does stand out compared to other cars that everyone elses got. Lexus is the only car i had to save a long time to get as i actually did want one, not just a car to get me about plus been through good and bad times and the car has never let me down...bit like having a shoulder to lean on, type thing...I just can't bring myself to get rid of it..just the thought is a sin in my books.
It's blue. Apart from the fact that it's the Sport (I rarely see Sports around here) it doesn't really have any distinguishing features yet.
Hahaha. Well give me a couple of weeks then. I'll see if I can get the full £9k by selling my eldest kid on eBay. If not, I'll chuck the other one on as well :winky:
Not quite, but my IS250 is :lol: Quicker, quieter, smoother, better sound system, more comfortable, better satnav and generally a lot more toys to play with.
Definately:
L : Renault 19 (head gasket after 1 year of owning)
1981 corolla (what a lil beauty :) ) (sold for more than I bought :whistling: ) - a strong contender for my favourite, but doesn't quite beat the lex
M: Corolla (clutch finally went - gf riding the clutch too much, and what sparked the idea to get the lex)
H: BMW 3 series - what a piece of sh*t! head gasket after 1 month :angry:
E: mercedes 190E - 20 years old and only just sold her (was my mums originally) they built them babies to last..!
and now a 54 plate IS200, as you can see from the previous list, I suddenly feel like I've gone up in the world! and seen as I never sell a car (bar the 1981 corolla) until it's right royally f*cked, I can see my tootling around in the lex for years and years!
