  2. I know satisfaction with what one has is often key to " contentment " ...... my indy scares me with tales of customers costs repairing Mercs and BMWs.......... and the £2500 for the parts alone for a Bentley S3 brakes overhaul ( plus labour ) ............ keeps telling me not to be daft and to keep the Lexus ... it really costs me next to nothing to keep on the road year after year after year ........... and doesn't expect that to change very much for the future tbh. 6. I had a mk2 GS430 which was a great car, fast, comfortable, all the toys and in the same great colour as my current LS430. I’ve also had a mk3 GS450h, although my ownership was short lived due to hybrid problems and the dealer taking it back and giving me a refund I loved that car, it was silver with cream leather and it was indecently quick!!! There really isn’t much out there that can keep up with one, with the instant torque of the electric motor and CVT transmission acceleration from a standing start was relentless and seamless. It’s also novel when you stand at traffic lights in complete silence as the engine shuts down then as soon as it’s time to go it leaps to life in an instant. I found it very comfortable too with a just about perfect driving position and it really does feel solid and inspires confidence. It averaged around 30mpg day to day and around 40mpg on a run. The ride on mine was quite firm possibly because of the 18” wheels and also the shocks on the 450h are different and are a common fault which are extremely expensive if they need replacing. I would have another but I’m a bit once bitten twice shy about the hybrid system which is absolutely brilliant whilst it’s working but can very quickly become a very expensive nightmare if it goes wrong. Having said all that I’m perfectly smitten with my current LS430 I bought from Phil. What I feel the LS has which the GS lacks is more road presence, sense of occasion and the car just feels a bit more special to me. Also I just love the softer ride with that V8 motor which delivers its power so effortlessly, I could drive it all day long!!! It’s certainly a car where you know you’ll feel better at the end of your journey than you did before you started it. What was this thread about again?? 😂😂😂

  8. Went for a 2014 NX 300h premier yesterday from Lexus Derby, pretty happy with the deal, £25k with 3 years warranty, looking forward to pickup next week. 75k miles but immaculate. There's half a million buttons, menus and switches which will take some time to learn, is there a hints and tips, or quick start guide on here? Searched on Google for a few hours and didn't find anything. On the CT and other models, on the dash board the left dial defaults to an eco, charge and power monitor and shows a rev counter in sport, on the test drive this seemed to only display revs. Don't see what value the rev counter gives you as it's an eCVT so wondered if this could display charge, power dials?

  13. Reading this thread again has made me wish the weather would improve so I could get my (visually identical) car close to the standard of Lee’s. I also bought myself a Karcher K4 which I’m itching to use properly to tackle the cars. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  16. Don't panic....Use GlipTone Leather food once a week for a few Months..... and it will look and smell almost like new .....but with added character.... will stop any more cracking..... and your leather will last for many years.....it is simply hungry. Re apply every few months after that...... and enjoy supple and GREAT smelling leather....it's great stuff.

  21. Great advice, try not to be sucked in by the claims management people, before you know it you will be down at A&E having an X Ray on your neck to support the exorbitant/spurious claim..................

  22. Actually, looking at this again today without the Saturday Guinness/Tanqueray filter I think you are right, it does look fussy, is it the colour or maybe the angle the photo was taken from, all the shut lines are visible which makes me think it is the angle the car is viewed from, anyway it is still my next car.

  25. I've had 2 mk3 gs300 and a mk2 gs430. The mk3 are great cars, to be honest the drive on it didn't feel much different to the Ls and also being direct injection, it was very good on fuel, I drive like miss daisy, so on a long run I was getting 39-42mpg. Boot space was good too, I loved everything about it, but then I think some sort of midlife crises and bought an sc430, which is lovely too, but for some reason I think the mk2 gs430 was better built, even the leather interior in the mk2 was more heavy duty if you know what I mean

  27. I quite liked the Mk2 to drive, steering seemed lighter than the Mk3's I've driven and the suspension seemed more supple but it could be the old tyres on my Mk3 that's marring that perception so I'll hold judgement on that until I do a tyre refresh. Toys and looks wise I prefer the Mk3.

  29. I think they have always been that way, no chance they will be getting changed around any time soon in this weather. Due some new rear tyres this week I think so may change them then though I can't imagine it matters a massive amount

  32. Ok, been out to take a look (sorry, forgot to do it yesterday). This is what I did: First, you need to disconnect the phone from the cars Bluetooth (I forgot to get a picture of how to get here. If you press your phone dial button, you should then be able to see a Settings option in the bottom left): Then, select Phonebook: Next, if you want to start from scratch, you can delete the current contacts by pressing Delete: You then press the Transfer data button: The next screen (which I also forgot to picture) is if you want to have more then one group of contacts. In my case I didn't, so I just selected Group00. Now, on your phone, you go to your Contacts, and select Share: Something similar to the following should appear giving the option to select and transfer all: You then select sharing by Bluetooth: The source will be whatever the Bluetooth name of your car is called, in my case Hands Free: The car should display this during this time: Once the phone has finished, a notification similar to this one appears: The car screen should have now reverted to this: As you can see, I transferred 70 contacts. They all appear to be present: Finally, remember to reactivate Auto connect: And that should do it. There may be some slight differences. One thing to note is that all my contacts are stored in the same place on my phone. This may not work if you have more then one location enabled. Another thing is that this is on my IS220d, which I believe uses the Gen 05 sat nav system. The phone used is a Samsung Galaxy S8. I hope this is helpful to some of you.

  33. I lot of people don't seem to like it but as they're rare I think some people's opinions are based upon pictures rather than in the flesh. When nice and clean, in the sun it truly is stunning. ISFs generally look far better in the flesh anyway but particularly the Mesa Red!! I love it and genuinely wouldn't pick another colour over it. Looked at a few and fell in love with it instantly Marcus

  34. Parker's shows the GS 300 boot at 430 litres and the GS 450H at 280 litres. With the Hybrid's battery pack taking up most of the space behind the rear seats. But they don't half pack a punch [emoji14] https://www.parkers.co.uk/lexus/gs/saloon-2005/specs/

  35. That's true enough, although the GS boot is still large. As I generally look like a vagrant I don't tend to use much luggage space when going away, thus giving ample space for my wife's bags!

  36. So my rod bearings and turbo have come....... but the rod bearings are damaged. Ive emailed whifbitz about it and just waiting for a response, it was just poorly packaged and the turbo has dented/crushed the bearings so its a little set back but its ok im sure it will be sorted. The turbo on the other hand ......... jesus ***** it is huuuuuuuuuge!!! Alot bigger in person compared to looking at pictures of it! Just for comparison ive placed a 2ltr coke bottle next to it, keep in mind this is slightly larger than the normal 2ltr And 1 next to honey 😂 Will crack on with piston ring gaps tomorrow and hopefully my bearings wont set me back too much

  37. SE-L has the boot spoiler too. Saw my old E60 5 series on eBay today selling with a FSH & heated seats strange it did't have those when I had it dodgy car sellers.
