  1. Just before a full on assault of a great B road.....................

  2. Did you all have to stop and wait so that the M4 could reset it's fault codes ;-)

  3. I've been thinking about changing to a RCF for the past 6 months but keep changing my mind because I'm still really attached to my ISF. But the recent shift of ISF owners on here has convinced me to make the move! Anyway, with a budget of £35K(for a car with less then 30Kmiles) this weekend I started making calls and hopefully arrange viewings but was left disappointed.. On AT: Grey one: sold on Sat. Black one(from Sandel Auto) sold on Sat after 2 days on AT. White carbon @£36k sold/disappeared from AT&Lexus website. Silver one @Harveys: It's a long way for me to travel so it was a tentative call. Got offered a pathetic PX from them today:( £30k to £35k RCFs must be where the demand is...

  4. Wow, that's pretty insulting. I'm guessing you must hate your IS with it's ABS, Traction Control and all the other electronic gizmos interfering with the driving pleasure? Personally, I can tell the difference between driving a FWD and RWD drive car, but it's not the be all and end all of whether I enjoy driving a car or not. I have both at the moment and find driving pleasure in both for different reasons. I guess 40 years of reading about, watching programmes on, and driving as many different cars as I can get my hands on isn't enough to make me an enthusiast because I don't subscribe to your point of view. Fortunately, I'm happy to continue in my ignorance and I'll continue to enjoy finding cars that surprise me with how good they are, possibly even including the new ES. I'll let you know when I've driven it...

  5. TBO my main criteria for the RCF was condition & a low mileage with The Mark Levinson . Also wasn’t bothered about the TVD as happier with the standard diff as car will never be tracked. I wanted that aspect of the cars chaaracter to be as analogue as possible - well as analogue as any car can be these days!. Never used the adaptive cruise control on the ISF or any car before it so wasn’t bothered about that either - I don’t do a lot of miles in my cars so I want to drive it even if it’s in a 50mph average speed camera zone.

  6. That road looks a bit dull & boring to drive😉 Not jealous at all - wondering if I need to go all the way to Scotland for the NC500 after all!! 😆

  7. Sometimes I just say "F It" and post on there. My 335i which was approved used BMW was in BMW garage for 11 weeks in 12 months. All covered under warranty but the novelty of an i3 soon wore off as my courtesy car. Another thing against the M4 in the pic.... And the RCFs and GSF. I can't afford one ;-). So it's jealousy. But I am pleased for you guys.... Honest :-) Right. Back onto the Max Power forum to discuss 1/4 mile times with the Focus ST boys against the Lexus.

  11. Got my figures off a Lexus sales guy. He said 214 RC F sold to date and 213 IS F left but nothing to back it up so could be BS :)
    2 points
  12. My figures from Lexus source match those from ‘How many left’ That is 169 RCF with 2 Sorn And 25 Carbon with 1 Sorn, the 4th quarter 2017 and 1st quarter 2018 figures have not been released as yet. As regards the desirability of the few available options mine has Acc/PCs and a Sunroof But no Tvd that was my choice, which I guess is the case for every perspective buyer. As always with such a small pool of cars to choose from some compromise has to be made and it’s a wise move move as well to check the history of the car as a fair number had a very hard early life. 13. 2 more private sale cars have appeared on AT today. Probably see more now that the 2015 cars are 3 years old and needing MOTs. Also got a improved PX offer from Harvey's but still not enough..

  15. OEM tow bar and electric's are now installed, the job escalated and left the car airborne for a week. A rear mounted rack that's nice and low is much easier to use than a roof rack, more aerodynamic too. I've already had a pal 'suggest' that I've been moonlighting for the council and emptying wheelie bins into my boot ! That bin has been split for years, ended up housing junk and has now gone.

  16. Sounds like a plan but as you say it will take some research. Only car I have had with better residuals than the ISF was a Williams Clio, which just goes to show that rarity is a good thing.

  18. Bang on and exactly my thoughts. This is my goal over the next few cars. Buy the right car at the right price and sell for as little loss as possible. Sounds easy but it neeeds a lot of research. Managed with my isf and my Evora and rcf is the next one then hopefully a Aston v8vs and then who knows!

  20. I expect most owners of the RC-F have it on pcp which means the 3 years are coming up, so the oldest RC-F you can buy will be 3 years old, i don't expect you can get one for less than £30k, so your £30k - £35k is around the mim selling mark,
    2 points
  21. 30-35k is a sweet spot for a lot of car owners in terms of how much they are willing to spend. Also with the rcf now coming close onthe isf in price depreciatuon should slow dramatically. I would never look to own a new one of these but your budget is the same as mine when the time comes. Also, you are looking at the worst time really as the market for sports cars always picks up this time of year. The white carbon one looked a bargain given the current market imo.

  24. @as13 I'd say the results speak for themselves! I thought I was pretty good at cleaning and looking after my cars, but Chris at Summit Detailing has taken the level of shine to a different level - mainly using Gtechniq products. Interestingly, the ceramic coat applied by the dealer from new (at no cost) had been done quite well in most places...but wasn't present at all on the lower bodywork. Evidently whoever applied it didn't want to bend down . Anyway, it is now fully de-contaminated and protected......and my 14 year-old MINI Cooper is next, although that will be getting a more thorough 3 day treatment.

  30. I don't understand what the source of amusement is, the car looks great, is very good to drive and can compete with any of the cars in the photo. Or am I missing something...................................

  31. I think, what I mean by 7 press cars - 7 cars were pre-registered and toured across UK, before they were available to buy for public. After that they were sold, however for later days many cars were used for press, unsold stock, management cars, used stock, demo cars etc.
    1 point
  32. 7 is way off the mark for Press cars it’s considerably more than that. Many ‘Lexus senior management ‘ allocated cars were used heavily by journalists and Lexus employees for such things as hill climb events and promotional work. When the LC was launched for instance a lot of Rcf & Gsf were pressed into service, excuse the pun for all manner of things including many cars that were on sale. I have a list of almost all of these cars that included photos and videos of what they were being used for. It currently stands at 39 vehicles, this does include the GsF’s. As @Linas.P quite rightly points out it is inevitable these cars are going to be driven in a manner for which they are intended. Big Rat
    1 point
  33. LC is not RC-F, though GT car can be used to digest quite a few miles as well. The difference between sports cars and GT is that most of GT cars are most likely driven on nice and relaxing motorway miles across continents, whereas sport cars are trashed across track and back streets. So my point - it is not number of miles that matters... Sports cars are generally there to be trashed - I guess that was as well the same point about "hard lives".
    1 point
  34. Believe it or not, that’s Health and Safety gone mad 🤪......the old boys used to come in weekends to restore them (retired)....H&S stated they had to payout for track certifications to be able to work on them, they haven’t been worked on for over 5 years 😳
    1 point
  35. 7... But some non-press cars had hard life as well. Sports cars are not bought just to sit on driveway.
    1 point
  36. Press cars that had the hard life? Of the 200 ish available how many were press cars?

  37. Blew the cobb Webb’s off and out the old girl for work, shaved 25min off the normal commute time......hence was in stupid early 🙄
    1 point
  38. I kind of disagree, Black one at Hatfields was at sub-£35K mark for over half-year now and 3-4 cars are always available to choose from. My issue is that most of them don't have either TVD, or Sunroof or ACC/PCS. And I haven't seen such cars for under £35k for a while. There is one RC-F for £29k (cheapest ever) now with all bits, but 46k miles are quite high for the age.

  39. As some have mentioned have you checked the thermostat?

  40. Agreed. The rcf should be good at current prices from a depreciation point of vire but time will tell.

We were very lucky and happened to be in the right place at the right time..... The gearbox oil cooler is the one being sold on eBay I haven't had it in the air to see it yet but it's got to be better than letting the original fail and take out the gearbox... The naivety of most Americans in their own country is astonishing, I do actually enjoy being there though.... weird...!!! Panama City FL, where the boat is, is very close to Alabama so they say "yau'll have a nice day now" We hired a GMC Yukon XL, they are massive and we enjoyed the 4,000 miles we did around Florida, the roads are easy and most of the locals are very friendly and helpful... Anyway back to the important bit... the Lexus is still doing well, I popped into Lexus this morning and ordered a set of number plates with my personal reg on and asked for some carpet mat clips, they found some clips and gave me them FOC and the number plates will be ready in a few days.. Been having a look around and cleaning it a bit and the 4 new tyres are the wrong size...!! they are 225/45/18's and it should have 245/45/18's it's only 18mm less on the diameter and 20mm on the width, not a huge issue but another reason to get rid of the Pirelli run flats which are quite noisy and hard... The aircon does have gas in it as the valve hisses when I shoved a key in it but not enough to get the air cool... it was cold the day I picked it up so difficult to tell... I'll pop and see a little man I know who can top it up.... It has one front parking sensor that has failed so I have ordered 6 new ones for the front from some guy in China who can make 6 and send them halfway around the world for a total cost of less than £25 for all of them, and he is still making a profit...!!! Apart from that it all seems good...
