I've been thinking about changing to a RCF for the past 6 months but keep changing my mind because I'm still really attached to my ISF. But the recent shift of ISF owners on here has convinced me to make the move! Anyway, with a budget of £35K(for a car with less then 30Kmiles) this weekend I started making calls and hopefully arrange viewings but was left disappointed.. On AT: Grey one: sold on Sat. Black one(from Sandel Auto) sold on Sat after 2 days on AT. White carbon @£36k sold/disappeared from AT&Lexus website. Silver one @Harveys: It's a long way for me to travel so it was a tentative call. Got offered a pathetic PX from them today:( £30k to £35k RCFs must be where the demand is...

Wow, that's pretty insulting. I'm guessing you must hate your IS with it's ABS, Traction Control and all the other electronic gizmos interfering with the driving pleasure? Personally, I can tell the difference between driving a FWD and RWD drive car, but it's not the be all and end all of whether I enjoy driving a car or not. I have both at the moment and find driving pleasure in both for different reasons. I guess 40 years of reading about, watching programmes on, and driving as many different cars as I can get my hands on isn't enough to make me an enthusiast because I don't subscribe to your point of view. Fortunately, I'm happy to continue in my ignorance and I'll continue to enjoy finding cars that surprise me with how good they are, possibly even including the new ES. I'll let you know when I've driven it...

TBO my main criteria for the RCF was condition & a low mileage with The Mark Levinson . Also wasn’t bothered about the TVD as happier with the standard diff as car will never be tracked. I wanted that aspect of the cars chaaracter to be as analogue as possible - well as analogue as any car can be these days!. Never used the adaptive cruise control on the ISF or any car before it so wasn’t bothered about that either - I don’t do a lot of miles in my cars so I want to drive it even if it’s in a 50mph average speed camera zone.

That road looks a bit dull & boring to drive😉 Not jealous at all - wondering if I need to go all the way to Scotland for the NC500 after all!! 😆

Sometimes I just say "F It" and post on there. My 335i which was approved used BMW was in BMW garage for 11 weeks in 12 months. All covered under warranty but the novelty of an i3 soon wore off as my courtesy car. Another thing against the M4 in the pic.... And the RCFs and GSF. I can't afford one ;-). So it's jealousy. But I am pleased for you guys.... Honest :-) Right. Back onto the Max Power forum to discuss 1/4 mile times with the Focus ST boys against the Lexus.

Got my figures off a Lexus sales guy. He said 214 RC F sold to date and 213 IS F left but nothing to back it up so could be BS :)

My figures from Lexus source match those from ‘How many left’ That is 169 RCF with 2 Sorn And 25 Carbon with 1 Sorn, the 4th quarter 2017 and 1st quarter 2018 figures have not been released as yet. As regards the desirability of the few available options mine has Acc/PCs and a Sunroof But no Tvd that was my choice, which I guess is the case for every perspective buyer. As always with such a small pool of cars to choose from some compromise has to be made and it’s a wise move move as well to check the history of the car as a fair number had a very hard early life. 2 more private sale cars have appeared on AT today. Probably see more now that the 2015 cars are 3 years old and needing MOTs. Also got a improved PX offer from Harvey's but still not enough..

OEM tow bar and electric's are now installed, the job escalated and left the car airborne for a week. A rear mounted rack that's nice and low is much easier to use than a roof rack, more aerodynamic too. I've already had a pal 'suggest' that I've been moonlighting for the council and emptying wheelie bins into my boot ! That bin has been split for years, ended up housing junk and has now gone.

Sounds like a plan but as you say it will take some research. Only car I have had with better residuals than the ISF was a Williams Clio, which just goes to show that rarity is a good thing.

Bang on and exactly my thoughts. This is my goal over the next few cars. Buy the right car at the right price and sell for as little loss as possible. Sounds easy but it neeeds a lot of research. Managed with my isf and my Evora and rcf is the next one then hopefully a Aston v8vs and then who knows!

I expect most owners of the RC-F have it on pcp which means the 3 years are coming up, so the oldest RC-F you can buy will be 3 years old, i don't expect you can get one for less than £30k, so your £30k - £35k is around the mim selling mark,

30-35k is a sweet spot for a lot of car owners in terms of how much they are willing to spend. Also with the rcf now coming close onthe isf in price depreciatuon should slow dramatically. I would never look to own a new one of these but your budget is the same as mine when the time comes. Also, you are looking at the worst time really as the market for sports cars always picks up this time of year. The white carbon one looked a bargain given the current market imo.

Loud exhausts save lives. Remember the Green Cross Code.... Stop - Look - Listen.... Or hope that the Nissan Note has poverty tyres that make enough noise that it makes up for electric motor.

@as13 I'd say the results speak for themselves! I thought I was pretty good at cleaning and looking after my cars, but Chris at Summit Detailing has taken the level of shine to a different level - mainly using Gtechniq products. Interestingly, the ceramic coat applied by the dealer from new (at no cost) had been done quite well in most places...but wasn't present at all on the lower bodywork. Evidently whoever applied it didn't want to bend down . Anyway, it is now fully de-contaminated and protected......and my 14 year-old MINI Cooper is next, although that will be getting a more thorough 3 day treatment.

Most people wouldn't know the difference and that is fine as most people don't spend most of the time on the limit. I love my GS because it is a beautiful well made car which is comfortable and does exactly what I want - a car which I can get out of after a long journey feeling fresh and relaxed. If I want to have a blast I drive my McLaren..........

That was a strange rant. I could understand if you drove say a Caterham or Lotus Elise.. The IS250 is a fine car but a dynamic drive it is not. I’ve driven several FWD cars which are better to drive

Why slash FWD car.. because it is FWD... It could have any badge and any features... If BMW would decide to make BMW 3-series a FWD - I would say the same thing - this is my least favorite BMW of all time (currently that title must be with 1-series). Simple question with simple answer - would I ever buy, consider or recommend FWD car - No! Never... if you feel no difference in driving pleasure behind the wheel in FWD and RWD, then you probably should use public transport - your are not car enthusiast... and I would probably would go as far as saying not a good driver, but that would be beyond the line of insult... Generally, I think people cannot be good at something they are not interested about and don't enjoy. But hey!... that is fine - not everyone are car enthusiasts and I am just little angry men writing bizarre rants in online forum - so why care. New Lexus ES FWD is my least favourite Lexus car ever made by far - does it matter? - No! it is just my opinion, which is neither better nor worse then anyone elses.

I agree the price is too steep, in my opinion £4-5K seems more appropriate, but if you're selling you need some wriggle room. If the timing belt has just been done (the mileage is right for a new belt) then perhaps a little more. My guess is the original wheels would have pitted badly as mine did and it was easier to buy LS430 clean wheels which have an inch extra on the rim size if I'm not mistaken. The driving mats look after- market but knowing the cost of Lexus replacements I can understand why. As mentioned recently on other posts, I do expect these prices to rise slowly over the next 5-10 years. .

No real amusement. Just got off defending Lexus from BMW fanboys on Pistonheads so I am more comfortable on homesoil. I am a big fan of the M4 and the M3. A girl I work with has a stunning grey M3 Comp Pack. My own ownership experience of having a BMW 335i is that I never want to return (that's why I am here). Apart from an E46 M3. Still bucketlist.

I completely agree - but we all can hope ... to find that perfect car and at the same time being in the right position/time to afford it.

Sounds fabulous. I guess the running costs are quite high compared to owning a house, with mooring fees and hull cleaning (all I can think of), but the compensations are huge too if you know what you are doing. Re the 430 gearbox. I was in Osaka a couple of weeks ago for my annual service and MOT. I asked if I should be looking at a new radiator and they said no. They can go, but only if the vehicle is not looked after was Khalid's opinion. He has 40+ years with Toyota, including a long spell in Libya, and I am very confident he knows more than the service chief at my local dealer. Just my 2p. FWIW I have had him change the transmission fluid twice. I did all the fluids when I bought the car, and he said the transmission fluid had never been changed and would benefit from doing again the following year, so I did. This year I asked what I should be worrying about in the next 20,000 miles and he said "I would love to take more money off you, but there's nothing." :) Jon

Need to allow car to idle for a long while ( cabin heater on cold to assist ) to get engine upto temp and check that the stat is opening to allow coolant to flow to rad and get cooled and then later fan should kick in as there will be no cooling from forward movement. check ( carefully) that all hoses you can get your hands on are getting Hot. The symptoms you have are pointing towards a stat that is not opening fully, this can occur due to stat failure or if the incorrect concentration of engine coolant Is used and the stat gets corroded and sticks. paul m.

Not owning an Is200 I may be wrong, but this sound as though the electric cooling fans are not turning on while the car is stationary. John.

Hi Melissa, welcome to the LOC. I've no experience on the IS200 I'm afraid, but have you checked the thermostat and the fans? I guess as you have drained the system to fit a new radiator there should be no airlocks or blockages in the system.

Well I'm guessing he's bought something more befitting a man of his advancing years!

Will almost certainly have an F-Sport model. No word on an ES-F but I presume Lexus would make it AWD if they went for it. Having said that, if they don't make an ES-F, it leaves the door open for the comeback of an IS-F for its next generation in 2020
