  1. Here's a little video from a recent breakfast meet/mini blat in Wales with some fellow Lexus owners and other marques. Following the success of the day we're hoping to get others involved. Please let me know if you're interested.

  2. Its coming along! Got the car back yesterday and managed a few average phone pics in the rain with the new wheel/tyre combo on. Race fluid, HEL lines and Carbontec pads fitted, but not visible in photos. Off to Lexus for annual service on Tuesday, then its all go for the year ahead, although I have a major hankering for a boot spoiler/wing now!! I'm going to hold off to make sure it does indeed perform on track first, then might treat it to a bit of carbon fiber as a treat πŸ™‚ Cheers, Stevie

  3. Slowly but surely I am getting around to fixing all the little niggles cosmetically on the car - today as it was about 17 degree's (for February?) I put the bumper trims on front and rear (rear pictured as I forgot to do a "before on the front" πŸ™‚ nobody will notice I imagine but I know they are done so I am happy enough Next up somehow find a wheel centre cap to match the ones I have and then see about either painting or "wrapping" the roof panel black (I wanted a 2 tone car so I shall have one - sort of) then either powdercoat the alloys or buy a nice set (depends on the bank balance)

  5. Greetings, from slightly northeast (Sweden, land of vikings and such), just figured I'd make one of these fairly pointless posts ^^ I've found that this forum offers vastly more in regards of useful information than the Swedish equivalency, and thus here I am! I've already read and learnt a ton from crawling here the past few days. πŸ™‚ Since me and the mrs put a second tiny human on this earth recently, and figured it was about time to move upwards size wise from our Audi A4 Avant (2006), we bought a lovely Lexus RX 400h Executive (2008) about 3 weeks ago. So far, I couldn't be happier, it's simply a tremendous drive as well as a joy to look at, and I find myself making all sorts of excuses just to take it for a spin. πŸ˜‰ It also works tremendously well in fairly large amounts of snow (on snow tires, since that's legally required around here), which is useful since we live on a mountain, in the middle of a forest, on a dirt road. I must say that it carries itself very well indeed, compared to our Quattro Audi. The project of the past two or three days has been to create an audio DVD with mp3's that was still playable in the Mark Levinson DVD changer (since it doesn't support mp3 dvd's for whatever reason), something that turned out to be rather tricky since the recommended software was last updated in 2009, but somehow I managed! ^^ So, essentially, I just wanted to make my presence known, and thank you all for all the information I've already harvested from this lovely place! Looking forward to more of the same! πŸ˜‰ Cheers! // Kristoffer

  6. Thanks again everyone. Some more progress. firstly it is not a new battery, it was being reinstalled after being charged in the home. It is the same type that was in there previously. I dont know why that particular ''model" was picked, but it would have been by Halfords about 8 (?) years ago. Something about being Ca ralther than Pb rings a bell. I am intrigued that the new official spec in higher. The battery does drain to flat if the car is not driven for a few weeks. Today we located a blown section in the linear fuse and by shorting across that fuse We could start the car. Whilst Started, all appeared normal although if the short is then removed the car continued running but all previous defects returned. Technically I think this could be sorted by fixing some rated fuse w ire across the break but the likely outcome will be a whole new linear fuse box...

  7. Sounds like the smarter thing to do Les, I had my RX350 set powder coated and put on my old RX300 and the finish seems a lot more study than the regular paint and lacquer. Low maintenance as well. My advice is to make sure you get a good look at the colour choices in person. I just asked for gunmetal/grey and it's a weird matt grey/green until the sun hits it. Should have taken the time to consider the options.

  8. Top Gear about as exciting as watching stainless steel rot. Scrap it and start with a clean sheet of paper. Everything has its sell-by date and TG is way past its, of course, that doesn't apply to Lexus cars especially LS400/+

  9. Distinctly underwhelming review appeared today on Honest John. In a bit of a Groundhog Day moment (see my previous post on this thread), I see they have managed to include the classic motoring media cliche of a CVT possessing a "loud, droning noise when you accelerate", and "too many scratchy plastics"ο»Ώ. Ho-hum, plus Γ§a change... πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ And yet another Lexus review on HJ that has the appropriate footer of:

  13. Done this upgrade to my car last year and its one of the best things I've ever done. There's lots of pics and info of the process in my build thread. https://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/index.php?/topic/112594-My-IS250-F-Sport#entry1053919 But, basically it's a straightforward bolt-on swap with only one small modification required. That small triangular piece of metal needs to be trimmed from the dust shield to accommodate the bigger caliper. I imported actual IS350 calipers from the USA (rockauto) just to be certain, but as Lines says, the same brakes are on other Lexus models. I believe all GS450h cars have these brakes, also 200T models etc. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

  14. @PCM: Not too often you see a silver Soarer, very tasty in silver. Some bulb replacement and out with the alternator which got a new rectifier. All healthy again. Old fuel pump looks pretty rough!! New AEM in and working a treat.

  16. I'd keep a very careful eye on it as I've had my 400h for 5 years now and it hasn't lost a cm from either the rad or inverter. I don'y know your cars history but it could be weeping out from the water pump.

  17. Well done. Mine passed last week 171K. The garage where my car is MOTd and serviced said he doesn't know why he doesn't just give me a certificate without going through all the test as he knows it will always pass. We have had 12 loving years with Lexi and looking forward too many more.

  18. Watched the first episode of the new run the other night. Unfortunately, this is no longer a car program so that's it for me. Just tedious gimmicks.

  19. I would bin both of those (or keep for a different car if you have more than one in the household) and use whatever is recommended in the manual, which may possibly be Toyota Super Long Life Pink (which is what our RX300 had). I have no qualms about buying things such as batteries, wipers, exhausts, tyres etc., etc., from other sources but with any fluids I always stick to the recommended one because you just cannot be sure of the exact chemical component blends. Any system that carries fluids will also have rubber (or other material) seals and just one wrong chemical could attack these seals, causing leaks and untold damage further down the line. In my opinion it's just not worth it to save a few quid.

  20. I am sure he will be very happy with it. Our RX350 is now 13 years old (5 with us) and apart from replacing the rear levelling sensor ( cost Β£80) it has needed nothing apart from routine servicing. A joy to drive and very safe. It replaced an imported Toyota Surf which we had for 12 years and served us very well. The Lexus is a lot nicer!

  21. Sorry but Mercedes paint is just as bad, same with mini and alfa. Modern water based paints all seemtto chip easily.

  23. It is linked to the drive mode selector on the centre console. If you put in in Sport+ it will stiffen the suspension - there are only two modes. In either mode each corner is constantly adjusted depending on the road surface and conditions automatically.

  24. Hi - we bought a 2011 Rx450h in 2014 when it had 72k on the clock - ex co car fully maintained etc. 5 years on we have added 50k miles, car has been serviced each year at Lexus - total cost Β£3870 which included the big 100k service, all tyres and discs/pads too. The only spend outside of service and tyres/ brakes has been two new shock absorbers which is included in the total figures I have mentioned. I never worry about the hybrid battery - all healthchecks have been fine on it. It's a great car, my wife loves it and she wants to keep it forever, I have a 20 year old LS400 with almost 300k on the clock and I believe the RX will still be in our household at the same age/mileage. I don't think you will regret purchasing one.

  28. Important RX 400h related news. It seems as if the family bus replacement will not be here before we go on our jollies to Cornwall. The XC90 went back last month and a shiny new S-Max was supposed to replace it but delays on delays. I seriously doubt it's going to turn up at the dealers, be PDI'd, registered and taxed before close of play Thursday. So it is with a heavy heart () that we must go away in the RX. All three children in a row and squabbling for 300 miles but we're going in the Lexus πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ I've even offered to do mix cassettes for everyone while feigning ignorance of that Spotify or whatever it's called. Don't tell Freda that I'm secretly very pleased about this. Hell, I'd take us all away in the IS if she'd let me.
