  1. Just downloaded the new app, not had time to use it yet, but at least it is now out there!

  3. I took delivery of my NX one year ago and I did get a hardcopy manual (abbreviated copy of the online manual in colour) and a service book (although I think it had a different name). I like hard copy to browse so I was grateful for receiving both and I think on a vehicle of this price, copies should be offered to those that want them (I also like the online manuals because of the more powerful search options).

  4. Worth getting a sticker just in case. Marcus won’t have any problems with emissions - his low emissions Euro 6 compliant 5 litre V8 is just what Saddick wants us to drive. Right? Right?? I have a 5 litre V8 and a 3.3 litre V6, both Euro 6. I’m doing it for Greta.

  5. Okay folks, an update as I promised. The reason why I didn’t want to explain more in my last post is that at the time of posting, the car was in the UK but hadn't *quite* made it’s way to the dealer (I basically didn't want to jinx anything). I can now confirm that it has now arrived and the finance on the new NX and trade-in value on my outgoing UX is now sorted. No. I still don't know what ship it was on which is mildly annoying as that's part of what appears to be the 'usual process' of being kept updated, or when it even arrived in the UK, but at the end of the day, it's now sitting at the dealer waiting. I've just had to accept my 'non-priority' customer/car status. I have always said I will give credit where credit is due and in this case, the dealer is beginning at least some attempt to turn that juggernaut of almost 16 months worth of negativity I've had with them around. It's still an incredibly long way back I have to say, but at least they’re beginning to see the points I’ve been making after sorting out the finance and having a good long chat with them face to face. I should have a collection date very shortly. I'm told that there are about 'ten others' ahead of me when it comes to September collections (which I admit was probably an unfortunate 'slip of the tongue' given my excessive wait - and only serves to add fuel to the 'non-priority' theory), but they'll try their best to make it as early as possible. It'll certainly be within the first three or four days. I've said this before but for those who can't remember - I honestly don't mind not collecting it on 1st September. I've "been there and done that" before when it comes to new plate day. I'm actually quite happy to wait a few days after, even a week into 'the new plate' if need be. It's more of a relaxing atmosphere. It'll be what it'll be at the end of the day. I'm actually off work on the 1st, 4th and 5th anyway, so it won't be a problem whatever I'm told. So, fingers crossed folks. In theory, pending any further changes (which given my luck throughout this whole sorry, silent saga wouldn't surprise me) I should have it in slightly under a fortnight's time. Relatable. As I’ve said before, the app and the website has never shown my order and to this day, it seemingly doesn’t exist. This is even though I know for a fact my new NX is now physically sitting at the dealers somewhere... That's similar to me. I'm just about to 'click over' into the 16th month of waiting. I actually had to check my paperwork about a month ago as I genuinely couldn’t remember if I specified a sunroof or panoramic roof. Being a Takumi it's one or the other, but I opted for the latter.

  7. Assuming you going from 245 to 225, it is 20mm difference, but only 10mm on each side, so 20mm spacers would make them come out 10mm closer to the wheel arch. It is kind of matter of taste and I would say ~15mm is required to "fill" the rear arches on IS250. So if you going with 225s in the rear, then 25mm spacers would be required. I would never recommend going more than 25mm, maybe 30mm at absolute maximum. And 20mm would be recommended if you want to be on the safe side. Obviously, all the safety things apply. Make sure the spacers are good quality, hub centric, correct diameter lips etc.

  8. Just downloaded it on my Samsung phone. I have a feeling that it might not be strictly for UK owners but it does work OK. At first glance it does look slightly better. The "home" screen has been revamped with the addition of various "cards" (e.g. "Remote Control"; the car's status with regards to any warning lights; service and maintenance history; and the last journey's hybrid coaching stats). These cards can be rearranged or even hidden if desired. They have also added the "range to empty" figure alongside the pre-existing mileage and remaining fuel percentage figures. Looks like they have removed the "last known location" information though (unless I'm missing something). There is a tab to plan a journey but although I could search for a location I couldn't see how I could start the route or send it to the car. The separate "hybrid coaching" display looks better in my opinion - you no longer need to click into a journey to see the most pertinent stats (EV usage; MPG; etc.). [The above is what I can see for my NX350h - not sure what is displayed for other models \ variants] Still needs a bit of work though - for example a card that I had previously hidden reappeared when I relaunched the app. A step in the right direction I guess.

  9. It was funny to see this come up today. I had a LS600h for four years and loved every minute of it. I sold it when my wife and I got our RX450h a few years ago. I've been thinking about finding another LS600h or perhaps a LS500. I'm writing this from the Lexus dealer where my RX is in for a full service and I've just had a test drive in a pre-owned LS500 (around three years old, 32k miles). I am finding it very hard to pinpoint any noticeable differences between the two (beyond the obvious styling, updates to various systems/technologies, etc). The experience of luxury, comfort and general driving are very similar to me. I guess the option of spending around £47k on a LS500 or c.£10-15k on a LS600 might be worth considering too. However, both are excellent cars that, I guess, may not be being manufactured for too much longer in their current forms. So, enjoy one or the other whilst you can!

  10. In all modes the battery and petrol engine work together but in Sport mode the car is programmed to deliver it's battery energy more readily to improve performance (compared to Eco where the battery is trying to support the engine to be most economical) and in Sport mode the engine tends to come on more often too (rather than running on just battery) so the car feels more lively and responsive - the downside is that the petrol engine then has to run more as well to recharge the battery again to get it ready for the next time it's needed for better acceleration. In all modes however if you press the accelerometer right to the floor then the car will give you the max it can from battery and engine working together. I believe that in Normal mode it also adjusts to your driving style - so drive economically and it will tend towards the Eco program and drive spirited and it will tend to the Sport program.

  11. I did call LEXUS Hedge End ( Snows ) yesterday where I originally purchased my RX from in 2017, dealt with Connor in Service, very knowledgeable and completed over the phone at a cost of £546 per year , I took up the option of interest free monthly direct debit. Connor could have been a member of the LOC such was his knowledge and history of Extended Warranties he did say he had only completed 2 applications over the past year of the Lexus 10 year plus Extended Warranty, he even phoned the underwriters whilst on the phone to me to check that the UK & European Breakdown cover was as he thought. He will post the Warranty details to me. I did clarify because of the distance to Southampton that I would not be able to service or use the warranty with Snows, this did not seem to matter with him, in fact the impression given was similar to my dealings with them at purchase that a customer is valued no matter what the spend , quite refreshing ! I will show my documents to Lexus Chalfont this may be useful to them, still a mystery why LEXUS UK are not communicating this proactively to centre's or maybe they don't want to for some reason. Overall peace of mind. Thanks to Colin, Phil, Bill, Brendan & Nigel for your helpful responses. Frank

  12. Hi looking for advice please, my RELAX Warranty runs out on the 2nd September this year, & want to take out the warranty for cars over 10 years old. Contacted my local Lexus centre at Chalfont St Giles who I service my RX with, although very helpful had never heard of the Extended Warranty for cars over 10 years old. I contacted Lexus Customer Relations yesterday who said that Lexus had never offered this Warranty ,gave me details of Lexus warranty on new cars & RELAX and that was all the warranties Lexus can offer.offer. When I mentioned the Lexus Owners Club and that members did indeed have these warranties in place, the response was that dealers must be selling their own warranties. I am keen to take out this warranty but also to stay with Lexus Chalfont St Giles had a previous RELAX claim on tailgate motor unit paid in full,as I have a good relationship with them. Would any of you have any contact details of a dealer that would be willing to sell me this warranty, albeit on the basis that I would not be servicing or potentially repairing the RX with them. Any guidance would be much appreciated Thanks Frank

  14. Picked my NX in June this year. Told that owners manual and multimedia manual were not available in hard copy - only online for the MY24 version Also told service book were being phased out - no longer in print and only given out if asked for by the new owner and the dealer had any left

  17. Received my NX450h+ just two weeks ago, with both Service book and Owners Manual. Dealer made a point that they had specially obtained the Owners manual for us. Clearly saved time in the handover as they suggested we sit and read it in the car to familiarise us with the features.

  22. From my reading of the various posts, the answer is currently 'no'. Lexus seem to be concentrating on fitting the plates to RX's in the London area, where the thefts are the most prolific. Some owners have reported that they have been told that Lexus is unaware of Canbus thefts of the NX! However, Lexus does seem to have had its head in the sand when it comes to some customer issues - at least in public, but things are happening behind the scenes. My NX is being serviced next week and I have already told them that I would like a plate fitted if it is available (I am not expecting that it will be, but I'm forever hopeful and I want to get the issue raised within the dealership as worrying about theft reduces my enjoyment of the vehicle). If I learn anything more when I'm there, I'll post the information here.

  24. Sorry, I think I need to say that the reason for this holiday is to drive and enjoy the roads of Scotland. We've all been and done some sightseeing before, etc, so it's less about seeing what Scotland has to offer walking, sightseeing and visiting places. We have a place we're renting out for a week with hot tubs, BBQ, etc, so our evenings and days off will be spent relaxing and doing some of the things mentioned. The long days with high miles will be mainly getting up to and near places of interest, as we're staying lower than initially anticipated. I do a lot of landscape and drone photography, so two of my days will be spent doing that. What the intention is for us is to drive to locations, grab some photos, a coffee, some food, then move onto the next and essentially leapfrog our way around. The high mileage days will be early starts and getting to the areas we then wish to explore.

  26. I've driven up to and around Scotland a few times but only ever for a holiday . a few weeks . the thought to drive 200/250 miles a day will be very stressful, strenuous and totally unenjoyable . to me anyway It's a beautiful place to amble around enjoying magnificent scenery and impromptu unbooked B&Bs etc ............ if you can take a while to do the journey then you'll enjoy it much much more than just trying to eat up the miles Malc

  28. I believe the Wifi issue was a firmware problem on the host (380GW/GWX device) and not the App / User device, client side. My app updated August 4th and have not seen any difference. The App version history suggests this update was for date format only. On a side note I have just noticed that NextBase Android app user reviews are very poor 2/5. Maybe they do have a lot in common with Lexus - neither company can make a good app. 🫢

  29. Interesting video. Although not that offensive, that's a hell of a lot of engine noise compared to my LS400. The fuel consumption was also pretty bad, well below official figures. Perhaps that chap is not adapting his driving to suit a hybrid. I learned that my LS400 was so aerodynamic I could coast a lot more than in most cars and it made a difference to mpg without boring myself to death. I wasn't aware that the 600 had the CVT box, but I'm still surprised how noisy it seemed. Perhaps the LS400 was the pinnacle for Lexus? If they made the series 4 LS400 now with a conventional gearbox and perhaps a hybrid system, Android Auto, and a reversing camera, I would happily pay 80k for one.

  30. The Lexus 10 Year Plus Extended Warranty does include Lexus Roadside Assistance, which is I think £155 standalone - of course if you don't need LRA (or it covers more than you want) you may be paying for this needlessly - as far as I know LRA can't be excluded (but I wanted LRA anyway so haven't enquired further).

  32. I will see if I can obtain this warranty with Lexus Cov when they MoT and service my car in November. My Motoreasy warranty only costs £350 and covers what I need - however, a Lexus product would be better. I received good service in 2021 when the old one expired. A good discussion as usual guys. We need to remember the dealers are not Lexus they are franchises and are only as good as their staff. Regards Bren

  33. 245s on IS250 is completely unnecessary. For 17" wheels I would definitely go with square set-up. This further gives you an option to rotate the tyres, so it is double saving - not only cheaper tyres, but you can as well wear them more evenly, as long as you always put the best tyres to the rear. In terms of grip 245s are absolutely not required, 225s have plenty grip, especially if you go with decent brand tyres. As well IS250 AWD comes with identical wheels and square set-up, but I believe it is running 4x235s. I personally went for 245s instead of 255s on 18", but that is because my wheels themselves were staggered, so I could not rotate them anyway. 17" are "square" wheels, so you can absolutely go with square set-up for tyres as well. Likewise if I had 18" set-up which is square say 4x8J instead of 2x8J+8.5J, I would go 225s even on 18s. Looks wise consider using spacers, 15-20mm, should do.

  34. I don't believe so. When I installed the new + app, I had to register my car (Connected Services; etc.) to it. Now when I launch the old app it tells me that my car has been "migrated" to the new app and won't let me go any further with it. So it looks like, although they can be both installed on your phone, it's one or the other when it comes to connecting to your car. That's how it appears on Android anyway.

  35. I completely understand where you are coming from and I'm really looking forward to reading the answers to your question. I very nearly went for a 600 but while I was looking I found another 400 that I couldn't resist. My expectation was the 600 would be a good modern alternative but my only concern was whether I would like the CVT feel or not. This chap on youtube has one and goes pretty in depth https://youtube.com/@swisscarguy

  37. French don’t allow speed camera databases - you’d get fined or have the device confiscated if Le Plod found it but for some odd reason the French Waze users all seem to think there’s ‘police spotted’ at every single fixed camera location. I do like their way of thinking. Waze hugely recommended for Europe! Wherever I am I always run Waze plus usually also have a dashcam with database (which doesn’t ping dans le france because of the lew)

  38. Four years later !!! I'm researching the finance companies 56days interest blurb which isn't stated anywhere. I've googled it and this is one of the only threads I've come across which mentions it. So if anyone else is researching, the following may help. The wording of some respondants above is confusing. I think I know what they mean but they use the wrong terminology which I guess is the root cause of confustion. Terminating or cancelling or withdrawing etc from an agreement. In effect what this means is you no longer want the car, you're handing it back to the finance company. For example, perhaps you can no longer afford the repayments or some other circumstance has occured that you no longer want the car. 14day? UK law permits 14days 'cooling off' period. You can cancel the agreement up to 14days without penalty - hand the car back, that's it. After 14days you will incur additional financial penalties. From what I can see above, nobody wishes to cancel or withdraw from their agreement, although they may have wrongly said they did. Settling an agreement. This is where you want to buy the car from the finance compnay. ( the subject of this thread ). In that case the 14day rule is irrelevant as is paying the finance contribution back. The £2000 contribution was for taking out a PCP which you have done, therefore there is no requirement to pay it back. i.e. you've fulfilled your part of the offer. The reason I'm researching 56days is because that's what I'm now being told by Toyota customer services when I asked for a settlement figure. The point is, they make no mention of 56days when you sign the agreement. What they imply is they can arbitrarily set any fee they want - the actual wording they refer to in the T&C is "We may charge a compensatory amount..." but fail in any way to explain what that amount may be. They're implying this phrasology gives them licence to charge whatever they want. It's so ambiguous that customer services gave me false information when I first highlighted the issue and it's only when I questioned their calculations, this 56day rule materialised. Their settlement figure was just that - a figure. No breakdown of the loan to be repaid and the additional surcharge, no detail of how the surcharge is arrived at, simply here's what you owe us. Zero transparancy. Would have loved to know the outcome of @CTG's last post but as often with forums, posts are not followed up on. I find it hard to believe Toyota Finance would be niave enough to threaten to re-instate the agreement ( which without fully knowing the facts, sounds implausible ) but having seen first hand their cavalier attitude towards financial accountability, it certainly wouldn't surprise me. Hope that helps explain 'settlement' a little more.

  39. Most of the non-autoroute speed limits seem to be up to 90km/h again, but watch out for the odd stretch of 80 on busier roads. We saw very few police of any sort and no mobile camera vans, but there are a fair number of fixed cameras and they're not always obvious.... If you don't already have one then a dashcam could be handy? Might help overcome the language barrier if you have any problem.

  40. Fair enough, Carl. Others may wish to skip this bit! I don’t think you’ve mentioned the colour of your car. I like white cars and ceramics certainly produce a very shiny finish. But for eye-popping effects, you need reds, blues, greens, yellow, orange…well, you get the picture! To give you some idea, have a look at my guy’s website. https://www.huntsmiths.co.uk Apart from more details on Modesta products, he’s got examples of his work on Facebook and Instagram - which I don’t do! But I believe you’ll see many shining examples of exotic weekend toys there. (I’m told mine’s there too!) PS. If the alloy wheels look odd, it’s because I have Alloygator rim protectors fitted.

  41. Sounds a bit on the low mileage side for new front discs and pads but depending on where the car was used previously 60k miles isn't too bad. Whether the report was accurate regards how worn the brake were when you bought the car is another matter though. Hopefully Marshalls might change them foc for you.

  43. If you're going by Eurotunnel, as daft as it sounds, you need to do this. The standard carriages that you will automatically be booked on are very narrow by today's standards, and you will very easily damage your alloys When booking, and using the dropboxes, state that you will be fitting a roof rack that will have bikes on!! This will get you onto the high carriages with much wider metal kerbs, with less chance of damage to wheels. You'll be accompanying motor homes etc. Make sure you follow the high/wide arrows from the booths to the train. It'll cost a little more, but well worth it.

  44. I suspect Lexus don't want to advertise it widely. There were people on the old Extended Warranty who would have been disadvantaged by the Relax Warranty launching (including me) had they not offered some sort of replacement for people who couldn't take advantage of Relax but did have the old Extended Warranty running. The T&Cs of the 10 Year Plus Extended Warranty are almost identical to the old Extended Warranty other than it can be taken for a little longer so they certainly didn't put a lot of new thought into it (even includes the Lexus Roadside Assistance like the old one). They probably assume that as most people don't think of taking any warranty after Relax (10 years or 100k miles) nor want their cars serviced at a Lexus dealer (which is of course a condition of the warranty) that the 10 Year Plus Extended Warranty will eventually quietly run it's course. In the meantime if you want peace of mind for a relatively small amount of money the cover can't be beaten for the price.

  45. I am the first to agree that my hate of rattles has gone to an obsession. I have a super smooth ES 300h. I spend my entire trips listening for the tiniest of rattles. When I'm on my own there are very few but when the wife's in the passenger seat it is endless. If it's not the squeaking of leather clothes it's rattling from her handbag or buckles and zips on her boots. Then it goes a stage further when she taps her nails on the door panel or starts chewing mints. She drives me up the wall with it, then she says swap it for a different car if you're not happy with it. I'm perfectly happy with the car, it's the wife I need to swap!

  46. Probably off topic but I'm glad you can wash your car. We've had an hosepipe ban for the last year despite the highest ever rainfall in July and now August. Yes, I could fill a bucket but it is not the same and our local car washes are rubbish.

  47. My old driving instructor always told me, "Gears to go, brakes to slow" It's generally cheaper to replace pads and discs than transmission components. As for putting the transmission into neutral, as Andrew says above, more likely to cause additional wear.
