  1. My ranges are showing 45/50 on a full charge but I am currently showing 1.8m/kWh so range should be showing closer to 25 miles I do short infrequent trips so car is spending a lot of energy heating up the cabin so I don’t expect best efficiency but this is certainly worse than last year i just wish the predicted miles was more honest as I would need to be doing 3.2m/kWh to get the 45m predicted range and that isn’t going to happen

  2. We are I think at a tipping point regarding taxation both direct and indirect. In the press last week - how it cost you £100 less to fly to Slovakia and return with a sleeve of cigarettes than to buy one here - utter madness, not that I smoke. So don't be too hard on people trying to own and run a business, there are huge "compliance" costs that no one gets to see but have to be covered somehow. I always recommend people to start up and grow a business to fully appreciate the saying - it's easier to throw a brick through a window than it is to make one. 🙂

  3. I agree. I have just completed a series of inner city journeys today and the traction battery was depleted by 25 miles which is a new low in 20 months of ownership. Temperature plays a huge factor as its hovered around zero for most of the day and therefore internal heating/seats/steering wheel all on. Thankfully I pay a low Kwh rate off peak so its still cheaper to run on electric rather than petrol. Car currently indicates 2.6 miles / Kwh - I wish!!!

  5. Latest overnight charge and the prediction down again to 51.2/43.5. Sub zero temperatures overnight. Actual against predicted yesterday was a new low of 28 against the predicted 45.6. This was particularly disappointing given journeys didn't involve high speed motorway elements, however temperatures hovered around zero for much of the time.

  6. This is what solved mine from Lexus customer services Remove vehicle from the Lexus Link+ App account, via the app’s “My Garage” page. Sign out of the mobile app. On the App’s log in page – Choose option to reset your password. Note: Your must enter your Email/Telephone number, before you get the ‘reset password’ option. Note: Please change your password to something different from the previous password. Turn on the car, and log into your Lexus Link account via the Multimedia system by using QR code when prompted. Scan the QR code shown on the MM system into the LexusLink+ App (My Garage, Add Vehicle, Use QR code). Once you are logged in to the Multimedia System in the car, please access and enable “Link profile to Key” – an option found under: Settings (from the Multimedia home screen) User account (Click into your name on the top left) Personal Info Enable ‘Link key’ (as per screenshot below) This should be a successful prevention of the profile log-out issue. “Link Key” means the MM systems seeks your profile details from recognition of the Key, rather than your mobile phone. The key is a more stable solution for profile recognition.

  7. The engine will also start if you select front demist. I assume the heat pump can't deliver heat fast enough to meet the legislative time for clearing. However if you pre-heat from the app the heat pump alone is used.

  8. Alistair is right, the system decides. The HVAC system is limited in the amount of heat it can produce so in cold temperatures, the engine will kick in to provide the necessary heat for the electrical system and the passengers. The engine may also kick in if there is extra load, going up hill for example. For efficiency, the engine doesn't cut out immediately, the engine needs to get up to operating temperature. Trust the system, unlike the app, it is well sorted and works well.

  11. Wine importer, I knew there was something I liked about you. Re France you are absolutely right. They take the gold medal for bureaucracy. Contractors coming with a contract to work there were advised to consider other country options. Believe it or not the UK stacked up pretty well by comparison to many EU countries. Although Italy takes a lot of beating. Taxation used to be considered optional on a 'well if you really want to' basis.

  12. I received my 450h+ Takumi in August. I queried the lack of card key when collecting the car and was told by Lexus UK that they had withdrawn it from the spec. as it could not carry the latest security chips. (I do not believe that but what can we do) I have seen a US post that those not receiving a second method of using the car such as card key, would get priority with the second key fob - yet to see any sign of that in the U.K. i did get the locking wheel nuts (edit bolts!) correction with the car (and the paper manual) - lucky there but did miss out on the upgraded sound system. On the Harry Junior point about the summer programming of key lowering all windows and opening roof, I spend the winter in southern Spain so have used that. Well worth asking for it to be done. We use it even at this time of year if car has to be left out in the sun. Saves flattening the battery with Climate, if the app do deign to work.

  16. These 'services' are one reason why are insurance prices are so high - please don't use them if you don't have to. I suspect the reason why they aren't doing everything they claim on the website is because there isn't a third party at fault that they can claim against.

  17. I had trouble this week getting in due to frozen handles (same as last year). Luckily I went into Lexus Bolton for car to be serviced today. I mentioned the handles and said there was a bulletin about replacements and was told they would check. I collected my car tonight and result. They have ordered the updated handles for my vehicle. Booked in for next week for fitting subject to parts arriving.

  18. I did the same. 3 year free plan ended, paid and started an new 2 year plan with Lexus, circa £1500 for 3 services. It may sound a lot, but when you factor in a price freeze on service & parts costs and that my plan covers 2x major & 1x minor service, it's good value and piece of mind. Throw in on top the service warranty, it's safe and worry free motoring as I see it.

  22. So yet another suspected attempt on an RX. Not going into details on security but IMHO: - The plates that Lexus fit do work - Put additional security into the car. You are spending tens of thousands already. Don't cheapskate on it. - Save up and put away some funds for a new bumper. Anyone know the cost to replace a bumper, Parts and Labour?
    1 point
  23. Similar happened to me not long after I bought mine. What looked like minor damage ended up at £5000 plus and more besides when a hire car was provided when in for repair.Be aware of Parts shortages delaying things. You must use a Lexus bodyshop as only they will be able to test the hybrid system hasn't been damaged.
    1 point
  24. Most insurance companies will have approved body shops and whether Lexus approved or not will likely want to fit all new parts and if the other party is paying your insurance company is unlikely to question the cost. Yes you could shop around and probably find an independent repair shop who could do a very neat repair if it's just a minor crack, but why should you when it's not your fault? You will have to declare it for up to 5-years every time you get a quote, but should not impact your premiums if it was a no fault incident.
    1 point
  25. You have a newish car so needs to go to a Lexus approved body shop and the costs will almost certainly be well above what the Dad is prepared to pay directly, I doubt if Lexus would repair a bumper. If you had a 10-year old car and went to a smart repair body shop that can repair the bumper it may be a different story.

  34. LEXUS has added a FWD model, the RZ300e, to its battery EV (hereinafter referred to as BEV) dedicated model "RZ" lineup, as well as some improvements, and released it at Lexus stores nationwide on November 30th. Since the release of the RX400h in 2005, LEXUS has been a pioneer in electrification in the luxury market, constantly pursuing both excellent driving performance and environmental performance. Based on the electrification vision "Lexus Electrified" announced in 2019, we aim to realize a carbon-neutral society by popularizing electric vehicles such as HEV and PHEV while staying close to the needs of diverse customers and markets. In addition, we will use electrification technology to significantly improve basic performance and provide a driving experience and lifestyle unique to LEXUS battery EVs. As a luxury lifestyle brand, we will continue to respond swiftly and precisely to changes in the times and needs, and continue to take on the challenge of creating cars and providing experiences that exceed our customers' expectations. As LEXUS' first BEV-only model since the release of the AWD model RZ450e, the RZ embodies the LEXUS-like car brought about by electrification technology with a ride and design that appeals to the senses, and is the starting point of the brand's transformation into a BEV-centered brand. This is a model. The newly introduced RZ300e is a FWD model that inherits the driving concept "The Natural" that was established in the development of the RZ450e. Like the RZ450e, by adopting a BEV-specific platform (e-TNGA), we have achieved ideal inertia specifications through optimal placement of the battery and motor, as well as a lightweight and highly rigid body. Additionally, the rear suspension member has been newly developed for FWD, and the concept of RZ driving has been thoroughly developed regardless of the drive system. In this partial improvement, we have adopted a "battery rapid temperature rise system" that contributes to improving rapid charging speed. By shortening the quick charging time at low outside temperatures, it contributes to improved usability for customers. Additionally, in addition to installing additional reservable LEXUS charging stations to the LEXUS Electrified Program, a service program designed to enrich the time customers spend with their BEVs, we will also work with co-creation partners to provide new services and experiences. , to further expand the program. Furthermore, we will additionally introduce RZ in nine countries and regions including Central and South America, providing BEV options to even more customers. By adding the RZ300e to the RZ lineup, LEXUS will further accelerate its transformation into a brand centered on BEVs and respond to the diverse needs of customers. RZ300e main specifications full length 4,805mm full width 1,895mm Total height 1,635mm Wheelbase 2,850mm tire size 18/20 inch Cruising distance 599km * Electricity cost 120Wh/km * total power 71.4kWh Fast charging standard CHAdeMO Maximum output (kW [PS]) 150[203.9] Maximum torque (N・m [kgf・m]) 266[27.1] * WLTC mode/vehicle with 18-inch tires RZ's driving concept "The Natural"InheritFWD model RZ300e In the RZ300e, we pursued the RZ's driving concept of ``The Natural,'' which provides a ride that responds obediently to the driver's input, by developing a suspension specifically for FWD. By increasing the energy efficiency of the BEV system, we will expand the cruising range and meet the needs of diverse customers. The rear suspension member has been newly developed specifically for FWD. By suppressing noise and unpleasant vibrations, it contributes to improving riding comfort. Coil spring, stabilizer, and shock absorber settings are optimized for FWD. Taking advantage of the vehicle weight, which is approximately 100kg lighter than the RZ450e, it has achieved nimble and linear vehicle behavior. The inverter that drives the front motor uses a SiC element (silicon carbide) with low power loss, achieving a cruising range of 599km * . * WLTC mode/vehicle with 18-inch tires By improving the battery warm-up performance during cold times,Improved quick charging time A rapid battery temperature rise system has been adopted for the large capacity battery exclusively for BEVs. This improves the path for transmitting heat from the air conditioning heater to the battery mounted under the vehicle floor, minimizing heat loss, quickly raising the temperature of the battery when it is cold, and improving charging speed. This is what makes it happen. This reduces rapid charging time under low outside temperatures, contributing to improved usability for customers. Approximate charging time from when the drive battery charge warning light turns on to approximately 80% SOC (State of Charge) * * The charging time is only a guideline and may vary depending on conditions such as outside temperature and charger specifications. 36. Very true. I have been a small business owner and managing and technical director of 3 limited companies, one of which was a wine importer. I fully understand the difficulties running a business and the traps that new owners can fall into. Rule No 1. The bank is not your friend. Rule No 2. All the money you think you are making is not all yours. Rule No whatever - Well that's enough of that. I could go on all day, but I will save you the pain. It is difficult running a business (Legally) in the UK, but if you like pain and suffering then try running one in France!!

  37. Sorry only just seen your message. Its interesting as I have experience of both Cross Climates+ and also of Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons (Gen 1 & 2). For all year round use as of course all seasons are intended for the Michelins are brilliant as an all rounder however that being said on the two different cars (RWD and FWS) that my partner has had that I've used Vector 4 Seasons on over 8 years there is a clear difference when it comes to more severe winter ands heavy rain. The 4 seasons are clearly a winter tyre with summer 'modification' rather than the Michelin being a summer tyre with winter modification. Luckily my partner only does very low mileage because the 4 seasons do have more noticeable wear if used during Spring and Summer whereas the Michelins (as you will know) last for ages! As we have particularly bad standing water in the area that I commute daily and its also often very cold due to altitude changes I decided to go for 4 seasons Gen 3 as they have incredible ability in the wet and very good in snow. I will then switch back to the Bridgestones in March / April. Fortunately for me I have a friend who has a tyre company so swapping them over each time is minimal cost and done at my home.

  39. I had an X3 with runflats. Changed to non runflats and found big difference. Was very concerned initially that my NX450h+ came with 20” runflats and was expecting to need to swap them for 18”. But found it OK. Most of my usage has been in Spain with rather better roads than U.K. however.

  40. Oh! and as you'll have runflats, you'll only have 4 tyres, not 5. There will not be a spare! : o )

  43. My app has never been quite right from day one, but I wouldn't say I use it enough to cause enough annoyance. To start off with, it would say random doors were left unlocked when they weren't. That seems to have 'settled down' by itself now. Pressing the 'lock' button on the app and then refreshing it sometimes did the trick. My biggest issue with it is the reliability of the remote start/pre-heat. Sometimes it'll connect just fine and work as it should. Other times it says 'connecting' for a long time and then times out. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. One preventative measure I do is make sure the app is refreshed before I try and my phone is up to date in terms of updates. Even then, the problem still persists to a degree. 🤷‍♂️ I had a really unusual one only this morning where it worked fine, the app claims it was 'interrupted' and shown it had stopped...but the car was still running/pre-heating. 😕 I'd say about the only thing which works reliably on it is showing the milage and fuel level.

  44. I'd suggest that you ring your local dealer and ask them how to handle this. Ask them if you brought the car in for a service this week, would they service it and therefore give you a year's warranty. If they agree, take it straight in, get it serviced, and cancel the warranty that it was sold with. This is probably the cheapest way of getting it covered, and Lexus warranty is probably more extensive than the one you've been sold. Then get Lexus to do your services at least until you sell it, or it reaches 10 years/100000 miles. Well, that's my opinion, anyway! : o ) Oh, and maybe think about gap insurance with some of the loot you'd get back!

  45. Excessive moisture could be as simple as leaves being stuck in your vents. Admittedly I don’t have an ES but often it’s under the bonnet where it meets the windscreen. Give the vents a good clean outside the car. Used to be an issue in my Merc and GS as I used to park under trees. Hopefully that helps.

  47. I think they pretty much set the standard for all-season tyres. We have them on our other car - a small 4x4 - and I would have had them on my IS250. Except…it has 18” wheels and different size tyres back and front. At the time, Michelin only did one of the sizes, so it was a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 instead.

  48. Go to the ES section and read a couple of member experiences, yes they work, but you end up with thousands in damage to the wiring loom, dash...etc. as well as multiple theft attempts. Even newer models with canbus encryption are being targeted. Lexus need to do a loud public recall, a quiet fix will not solve it. Otherwise, sell and move on, or let it get stolen and get the insurance payout and move on.

  50. It depends what you need Martin. For me and Mrs C it’s perfectly adequate and with smaller kids as good as any Focus sized car. The other things that make it better than most other cars are; Thicker paint with a self healing outer layer (DON’T be tempted to polish it - only wax should be used, nothing abrasive). Thicker metal with a level of fit and finish that is off the chart (good explanation attached if you haven’t seen it), thicker sound deadening and spay suppressing undersea, The motors in the seats and mirrors are whisper quiet, The sound deadening gives an almost dull return from bumps and wind noise, near silent window motors that slow down at each end of the travel, sound absorbing screen and side windows, water repelling side windows and matters, the right side mirror is photochromic and the left is tinted, the Nanoe-x system is excellent (best left in auto), the comfiest steering wheel on the market in my opinion. Regarding the engine, well it is a bit buzzy but it annoys me when somebody whop thinks they know about cars does a YT vid. It’s the way it works and if you ask a lot it will rev to produce engine power and to generate electrical power. They also say it isn’t fast but it’s as fast as I would want to drive. No, it won’t launch in 6 seconds but it will pull like a train right up to legal limits so just bear with it while it runs in then see whether it is slow.
