  6. So I’ve learned about 3 more cars today alone thanks to @Toothy and @ollie isf and found one for myself so the numbers are climbing to the magic 211 ! To give you an idea here is the car once owned by @Toothy father pictures taken back in the day and whoever bought it in 2011 still owns it, look at that paintwork 😎 Big Rat

  7. Are there no Engine Management warning lights on, reading the codes would be a good first move. The symptoms would describe a sticking EGR valve (loss of power and plumes of grey smoke) and with what you mention it would seem the service regime is a little vague given the internal state of the engineand so would be looking at an immediate oil and filter change. Also check the 2 breather pipes they can clog up or collapse.

  8. I think I must of heard most that are available for the isF in person now, which in my opinion is the only way to decide before parting with your cash. So if you just want that extra little bit of V8 burble a few hundred quid will just do it. Cutting off your rear boxes is fine for the extra A+B road antics but get on the motorways and the drone for most is unacceptable. Lots of systems available just depends how much you are prepared to pay most are from a little over a grand to five thousand, it's the percentage value to the car that most need to be wary of I guess. Now I posted up about the Uk company Quicksilver and the Rcf,s they did for Lexus and it was Lexus who approached them, I initially listened to them like we all do on line and i thought I need to hear that in person. So as luck would have @Flytvr has had their cat back system fitted to his Carbon Rcf and it is without a shadow of a doubt absolutely stupendous from the build quality to the noise and zero drone at motorway speeds. Just after he had done I took the below couple of clips unfortunately usual iPhone rubbish speakers better on headphones. With the intention of going back to the airfield to get some full chat runs which we did but the weather was appalling and prevented filming but those of us that were gathered there agreed it is a fantastic deep V8 menacing old school system sound with all the pops and bangs that bring the car to life. 11. I was surprised with the performance of the LS. ive stuck with Continentals. They work but have to be in good condition. You know I own a Jag by now...**** if you don’t have Pirelli’s they’re a handful, If you’re a snail go economy. If you drive sensibly but do more miles then pay...but shop around. Lexus say they compete with others...check them out. I don’t work for Lexus...looking to keep the boat afloat. 😀

  14. I'll be brutally honest. I've seen three different RCF carbon models. Red, silver and white. I wasn't keen on the red, but even less keen on the silver. IMvHO, silver doesn't work on the RCF (or carbon). The morning I picked up my RCF, I arrived at Stoke early. My car was hidden inside, but the silver carbon was outside. In all honesty, when I saw it, I started to panic, thinking that buying an RCF was the wrong thing to do. All was good when I eventually got inside and saw my car waiting there -

  25. @FlytvrI think you are right! But I'm undecided about the Silver on a RCF because they don't photograph well so was wondering if they look better in person? Also the carbon works well with white but not sure about silver...

  32. That’s a good question. Not really blown away by H&S either. Probably the best IS-F exhaust I’ve heard is what @Warrington guy has on his. Not sure what it is however..... On the RC-F, rumour has it that the Quicksilver system is awesome GS-F, not sure. Probably best to keep the noise down. You just don’t need the attention when leaving the bank at speed.

  33. The button from the IS is no longer there. It's the same stalk as the RX where you click it down once to go to a auto, twice for intermittent and so on. Also worth remembering that you need to turn the car off and then hold the stalk fully up for a few seconds to go into service mode so the wipers can be changed easily.

  34. @Flytvr did you look at the silver RCF carbon at Stoke when you bought your white one? They've just reduced the price by £3k on the Lexus website!..hmm

  35. Lowest must be mercury grey CE13OAA. Had 16k miles at last MOT. @Big Rat, have you got that one on record? And speaking of which, how many have you got on There? I reckon I know of about 10 IS Fs you could add. And would you ever make it a shared resource to help people when buying? I'm just interested!

  37. There is a specific UHD version you need to find. If you just select the main HD version it doesn't automatically detect you have 4k capabilities and switch to it. If you don't have a 4k device with a built-in Amazon app you won't see the UHD content.

  38. Good honest review. While I can't refute your comments on road noise, ride and lights 2 out of 3 are improved with different tyres and upgraded bulbs. Ride is down to personal preference, I quite like it being on the firm side. I found pairing my phone to be quite easy and while I can work the sat nav, the general infotainment system is definitely not the best designed from a usability standpoint. As Rayaans has stated it is a 7 year old design and some aspects are beginning to show their age. My worry is they dump the CT as they have in the states which would be a shame as it is a good gateway car into the Lexus range and not everyone wants or can afford the NX/a SUV CT replacement.

  39. Where did you buy the car from? As for the smoke? are you sure it isn't just steam from the condensation the builds up in the exhaust system overnight especially in this cold weather we've been having?

  41. Well William as I stated I would I'm reporting my findings. I switched to auto and then drive to normal. I then started the car then pressed the demist button and hey presto 1 click to demist. Thanks pal. Oh. It works in eco too as I tried it whilst at some lights. The fan sped up to max. Happy bunny now.

  43. Sorry for late reply, didn't see this, oups. All my bits came from Nippon auto spares, great company, great prices, fast delivery and very helpful. Only bit that disapointed me was that i ordered track rod ends, not realising the ball joint wasnt part of it. They didnt mention this and i couldnt return them as nippon had to special order them for me. Guess it was my fault for not confirming before ordering though.

  44. Sounds odd that you need to do that. If my climate control is on auto, when I press the demist button the air is directed to the windscreen and the fan speeds up automatically. The windscreen demists quickly. I wonder why your fan doesn't speed up automatically. Is it because you've changed the fan speed from the auto setting? Or is the air conditioning turned off? Or maybe the fan speed only increases when the engine has warmed up a bit. But that seems unlikely from what the RAC website says (mentioned in a link above) as even cold air will help. Another factor of course is that the screen should be clean. In days gone by, before air conditioning, people would wipe the windscreen to get rid of mist. But that just made it worse by putting specks of dust on the windscreen that the mist would stick to. Might be worth checking the air conditioning is working properly. My experience is that the whole car mists up if the air conditioning is turned off in wet or cold weather.

  45. Pete It sounds like you have a airlock within the heating matrix and this is causing restricted flow that is fluctuating with increased pressure from the engine when the temp goes up. You will be best served getting the system totally flushed and refilled properly exhausting any airlocks. The leak in the radiator can cause the problem you have in that it will draw air into the system as it cools down after use this air lock will travel round the system and get lodged because the pressure on both sides of the airlock equalises.

  46. Given the date of the original post it's a moot point but worth noting that this is actually misdirection and half truth on the part of the original seller. There is no such thing as a trade sale (or sold as seen) between a Registered business selling a car and a member of the public. Your statutory rights are unaffected (i.e. fit for purpose, right to reject, etc.), if you choose not to buy a warranty that's fine (none I've found cover the hybrid system anyway so useless on a 400h) but certainly in this case the car was not fit for purpose at the time of purchase and the buyer would have been well within his rights to return the car for a refund.

  47. I've attended meets at Coventry Transport Museum too. They're set up well for it and it's a great day out if you've never been. http://www.transport-museum.com/visiting/car_clubs.aspx If not for the 10th anniversary. Maybe something for the future. Especially if we start to see greater number of people coming, like at Cosford.

  49. Rising the topic again :) I have just fixed my front headlight leveling sensor so I just wanted to share this with you. I took the rear sensor from Honda accord 2003-2007, they are the same as mine on IS200. Also you can find one from Toyota prius 2004-2005 or Mazda rx8. Just be careful because there are two different types, look the same from the outside but they are "mirrored" inside. I also replaced the main cause of leakage, the seal. For some reason they put the seal wrongly and that is the main cause of failure. I ordered new seals 10x21x7 with dust lip and put it as it should be (dust lip towards the ouside of the shaft). I also put some metal-free grease all around the seal. Now it looks good and works great! Here are some pictures:
