I lay a pound to a penny we will be the noisiest ones, think we should all line up and start on the count of 3 at Derby, see if they can/will record it, all pipes aiming the same way ππ€£4 points

Seen some further weakspots with F cars and the RCF in particular. I was a passenger in @Big Rats gorgeous RCF on Monday and didn't experience this but... There appears to be a fundamental problem with the RCF in particular. For instance the keyless entry can fail meaning you can get locked out of your car... Once in the car there is a distinct lack of space... If you get out of the car you have to stretch to prevent cramps... These issues are clearly illustrated below...4 points

Hey Dan, So AA route planner reckons itβs roughly 75 miles from my house to Toddington Services, and should take around 1hr 22mins to get there. It also reckons itβs 162 miles from mine to Lexus Derby, and should take around 2hrs 48mins. I was planning to be on the road by 5:30am, so in theory that would mean we would be at Toddington services around 7am, and would reach Lexus Derby around 8:30am or so.... Thing is we wonβt know how bad traffic will be or if there will be any accidents or delays, so do we think this sounds ok, or should we aim to leave earlier? Itβs not a bank holiday, and pretty early for folks to be on the roads in force I reckon, but we are travelling a fair old way, so happy to go with the flow. Cheers, Pete4 points

Moderators, please move this if it's in the wrong section. Three months in and already having some work done on my lovely LS including new Tyres/TPMS sensors, auto transmission fluid change and all new spark plugs. Hopefully that will make it run a bit smoother since it's been shifting a little rough lately and the engine hasn't been running as smoothly as I would expect. I had a sneaking suspicion that with only 29000 miles since new the car has done a lot of sitting around and probably needed a full sweep of maintenance work done. Hopefully if I do it little by little it won't break the bank. They told me my front upper control arm bushes had very slight cracks on it but they reckon it's not a replace job yet. I'll probably go with some aftermarket suspension components when I do decide to replace them as Lexus OEM charge Β£400 per arm! Other than they they gave the old girl the green light! If you Londoners ever need a great specialist garage, I can recommend Derek at Tech-one in Sidcup. Honestly one of the nicest and honest mechanics I've ever met and extremely knowledgable about Toyota's. Other than that, I'm still loving life in my LS! No regrets on the purchase whatsoever!3 points

I liked my standard 10 spikes but if were able to choose I would probably go for the mesh design ....umm.....or the American spec......umm π I used to be indecisive but now Iβm not so sure π3 points

I know Cezar, I'll still set off as planned at 5:30am, going to be a long day, but I'm sure i'll enjoy every second of it! Should sleep well when we get to the hotel! Nice thing for me and anyone closer to Kent is we will be roughly half way by the time we reach Toddington services, so we can probably afford to take a 15-20min breather/restroom break anyway.3 points

@NothernDan Dan as an aside Lexus Derby are situated opposite Derby County football ground, good news they are away that Saturday π π3 points

That sounds like a plan Pete. Traffic was fine last time I did the route and that was a Saturday at roughly the same time. 7am at Toddington it is then! π3 points

@Linas.P What Iβm saying is that to me there is plenty power there, so itβs good for me. Prius is nippy too, it makes a Porsche look puny for at least 30 feet flooring it from traffic lights, looks of WTF from Porsche driver when it takes off ππ2 points

I like standard UK spec. wheels, but I would prefer US ones over them... not because I like them more, I guess just because we didn't have them in UK so they seems to be more valuable, more unique. Never liked "mess'h" ones...2 points

Badge snobbery, thatβs all, as a kid we mainly had Audi 80 sports, BMWs tenfold, these were the days when BMW Fairfield normally had about 8-10 used cars and a showroom of about 3 cars, they were exclusive BACK THEN but the snobbery aspect of this is very much still apparent. People donβt like change, BMW, Merc and Audi all reduced their build quality to be more affordable to the everyday person, Lexus came along to attempt to steel some of that market, Toyota knew that they couldnβt get in under the Toyota badge, people still donβt like change and continue to buy German βwasβ good vehicles. i like the rarity of the brand it reminds me of my childhood when the being βnot the normβ felt special. Lol being on my 4th Lexus and knowing what little I know I wouldnβt buy anything BUT Japanese, weβve 1 Lexus, 2 Toyota and the boy has a Civic type R. His second Honda......there is also the point that whilst we, America and other countries spent money on weaponry the two class leaders were also the ones that were banned from developing their arsenal. Hence their progress in the vehicle industry.2 points

On my Mark 1 Ls400 the flange connection at the cat to exhaust slowly over the years corroded away until there was little metal left and the exhaust started to blow. It needed repair and that was either new flanges on cat and exhaust pipe or a welding job that turned out to be inadequate. When I purchased the Mark 4 this area was something I have monitored very closely and over the five years and 20k miles there as been some regular flaking of the metal on the flanges relative to the use of the car. I realize that over time this will lead to a similar scenario I had with the mark1. So I did some online research into protective coatings for this area and got some interesting results, these first of all entailed the temperatures this flange area gets to.The catalyst core can reach over 1500 degrees and the manifold at exhaust port 2000 but these are extremes and normal running temperatures are lower by 20% so looking at the flanges I reckoned they would get to a thousand maximum bearing in mind air flow cooling etc. The fahrenheit scale I have used (old school) led me in the direction of Rust-oleum product "hard hat"which gives heat resistance to a maximum of 750 degrees Centigrade this equals around 1380 F peak, plenty of cover for my 1000 F estimate at the flange area. I ordered a 500ml spray can and applied it liberally after removing all the flaking rust with wire brush and paint scraper. I went for a ten mile drive this morning and could smell it cooking during the trip, on my return I checked it and after it had cooled down tried to scrape off the paint it was as hard as enamel and impossible to scrape off I took these pics and it as not scorched or broken down so hopefully it will arrest the oxidation process that occurs on these flanges. Should it require a regular reapplication of the paint that is not a problem there is enough in the can to do 3 sq metres so I suggest that this is a very economical prevention method of replacing these flanges.2 points

Late to the party again... I think the issue is purely image and because Lexus only aim to sell a couple of hundred of each F model, they don't care. Let's face it, boasting to your mates down the pub that you have a V8 Lexus, is not going to produce the same envy as saying you have an M3/M5/C63/RS4/5/6 etc (delete as appropriate) Lexus have no competition history and the Alan Partridge thing from way back doesn't help level the playing field. It is perhaps a sad reflection, that courtesy of various marketing departments and the media, we as a nation have become totally label obsessed, so excellent engineering and reliability doesn't cut it amongst people looking to buy a new car. The cars come into their own later on in their life when costs of ownership start to play a bigger part in the decision and buyers realise that owning a used German supersaloon is going to be a very expensive experience. Of course someone has to buy a new one for it to become a used buy later on. Just my opinion.2 points

Yes, thatβs what I thought. The fact that the plastic cover is missing is a give away. I had two taken out of my wheels a couple of weeks ago. On my two there was a plastic over over the batteries which was loose which suggested to me that someone had already tried to replace the batteries. This is a good enough reason for me to reject them. Especially the fact that the cover has a metal strip that acts as an aerial which is now absent. My theory is that a clever entrepreneur has picked up a job lot of Pacific OEMS sensors from a foreign breaker and has gone about re-engineering them. If the plastic covers had been bonded back with a plastic epoxy I wouldnβt have questioned them at all.2 points

Yes Dan, as far as Iβm aware they will all be present on the Saturday, like u Iβm an over nighter. Looking forward to it ππ2 points
