  1. This is somewhat confusing to me, I must say. As Miles has pointed out, I was a part of said thread and I didn't think there was anything in there that Miles did wrong per se. At least, not enough to justify what sanctions are being apparently applied here. I also find it strange that no reply has been received that at least explains the reasoning behind what has happened. perhaps something has been missed along the way? In all my dealings with Mods/Admins here, I have always found them fair and understanding, and in fact, I think a little too hands off sometimes! Either way, I hope the situation gets resolved as soon as possible and any disagreements settled.

  2. MIles, If you are the user I think you are, I felt you went too far during that period, perhaps Admin felt the same. Did you create any other accounts? Sometimes it is better to stop, than escalate, reading back then I felt you crossed a line, only my opinion of course. I hope you will continue to post and enjoy the mostly positive forum this is. Not always of course, but it is usually new users that fall under the watchful eye of Admin. A learning curve perhaps. Most of us are here because we love the Lexus brand, and from my point of view this is a amazing resource of information. 99 out of 100 users are great and accept different opinions exist. Overall, I find this a very positive forum, with some great humour. Best wishes.

  3. Great vid and all about feelgood and putting the customer first. Not expensive for a dealer to do but it makes the customer feel welcome and important. I really cant remember when they did wave me goodbye in my new car including 2 lexus. Mostly its here are the keys need your signature here are some flowers ( no more wine did anyone notice?) and i have 10 mins for some smalltalk. The current cars are so complicated in tech that the infotainment alone could take well over an hour to explain. Another thing almost free of charge for any dealer. Contact your customer to see if all well some days after he or she collected the car. Never ever happened to me? Why not? Putting customers first in any organisation is a way of thinking and in most cases is just an afterthought. This vid shows a great way of doing it. However, could be culturally influenced as well with Japan beeing the most polite country in the world?

  4. It's ok Miles. I find it totally strange how admin twisted your complaint as an attack on them. Maurice. I think you totally got the wrong end of the stick regarding Miles. Just what did you read of Miles's that in your opinion crossed the line? In my opinion he did Not cross any line. And its more than remis that admin have not explained their 'punishment ' and it has put a blight on what I think of this forum.

  8. Well Marshals are not giving anything away! I'm sure they are not "bad" but others having the recall at other dealer groups are getting freebies, but Marshalls give nothing and are suggesting they will start charging for courtesy cars. Really don't understand why Lexus operate fixed price servicing but allow dealers to vary their offering - the experience should be the same regardless of which name is over the door

  9. There's a brief report on the LC500 in the new,May, issue of Motor Sport magazine with the above heading. The final paragraph sums up the article.."I really liked the car despite its myriad flaws. But would I walk past a Porsche dealer to get one?Not a chance" I can see some of what he means, but having owned both a Porsche and a Lexus,I would certainly feel more comfortable walking past the Porsche dealer. My ongoing bank balance would agree too.

  10. Vladimir, maybe you did not read all of what was written, but Maurice is right. Informing about how to do not permitted thing to a car is not something we shall do in this forum. Miles, you are right, I never read from you bad words but informing and partly defending that doing things to a diesel engine that may make the car easier to maintain and remove a filter that is there by law in order to reduse polluting particles is not the way to go. Please do not. We are all responsible for what we do. Welcome back to the forum and this time - please stay.

  11. At the risk of attracting opprobrium myself, I think Miles that this is sound advice. I agree that ‘Admin’ appears to have been, at the very least, rather rude in not explaining their action. After all, the LOC is only the sum of its Members and they should be accorded respect. But I was somewhat bemused that a disagreement over a diesel particulate filter could escalate in any way at all! I haven’t seen the posts, but it rather reminds me of film in which Groucho Marks escalates a perceived slight into a declaration of war! 😊 I also suspect that the user about which you complain is personally unknown to you. And you to him. So I would adopt Denis Healy’s attitude to being criticised by Geoffrey Howe, which he likened to being savaged by a dead sheep! (I am also aware that you may have no idea who these characters are!) However, abusive behaviour is clearly not acceptable on this website. On some websites it appears to be the normal form of communication, but that it can be initiated over a dpf may well be unique in the history of the LOC. I think, Miles, that now having eloquently expressed your hurt at this incident, you can now put it behind you. And perhaps the ‘Admin’ involved will respond to your satisfaction in a suitably explanatory fashion. As you are obviously now able to post unfettered, I would continue to do so and I look forward to what I’m sure will be well regarded contributions.

  14. Miles, May I suggest that it was the inability to let something go, when presented with a different view, that placed you in this situation. I would let it go and move forward. Best wishes.

  15. Vlad, You are entitled to your opinion, I hold a different view. May I suggest that it was the inability to let something go, when presented with a different view, that placed Miles in this situation. This is IMHO, one of the best forums around and still remains the case. Best wishes.

  18. I suspect that the jingles you refer to are coming from your dash cam. This jingles on start up and shut down. I think the intermittent sound is due to you having 'parking mode' switched on, which is picking up your movement in the car when you are stationary, i.e. in traffic, even though you are 'driving'. You can turn 'sounds' off in the dash cams 'set up'. If you don't have a dash cam fitted then obviously, ignore this.

  19. WOW. I've heard of warnings being given. I have a permanent one due to my reactions to the very same member you complained about. I've also known of complete threads being blocked by admin. However I'm totally shocked admin have ignored your emails. Are you sending direct ones or via the contact us on the site? When I learned I and a few others were not allowed to view that thread I contacted admin c/o the contact us link and got a reply a day or 2 later. It's a travesty that you have had such punishment for making a complaint against another member.

  20. 1) This is normal. It usually happens either when the hybrid battery needs to be charged and also when the engine and coolant are cold. In this last case the high rev can last for few minutes, this brings the temperature of the engine and coolant at the best level and also heats the catalytic converter to the correct temperature and gets rid of the condensation built up in the exhaust system at low temperatures.

  31. I had a rattle last week. Trying to find where it was coming from was annoying. However I eventually traced and cured it. It was my glasses I had in the in the overhead glasses box. Sometimes its the smallest things.

  32. No rattles in my 8yr old NX300h did get a bit of a squeak last year - it turned out to the side of drivers seat against center arm rest (storage box), but fixed that

  33. My IS300h, zero rattles in almost 10 years with 219,000 miles.
    1 point
  34. It's exactly the same thing with the UX! As the B-pillar is mostly plastic, if the seatbelt buckle isn't lying parallel/flat to the pillar/passenger seat, it can cause rattling if you find it slightly 'out of position'. I discovered that reasonably quickly as I drove to work one Monday morning wondering for the entire nine mile drive where the rattle was coming from - then I discovered the belt buckle (I had a passenger in the car the previous day) was twisted and was vibrating against the B-pillar on anything other than the smoothest of surfaces. A quick re-adjustment and all was silent again! Agreed. I think it's only reasonable to expect no squeaks or rattles for at least a year. Possibly two. It all depends on mileage covered and how the car is treated, regardless of brand in my opinion. I don't think I've ever had a car which has remained completely rattle or buzz free after the two/three year mark. There's always been some sort of very minor 'foible' to be heard somewhere after that time. As someone who doesn't often listen to the radio in the car (barring long journeys), I pick up on pretty much anything. For instance, I've detected a very minor 'buzz' located behind the passenger side of my dashboard when the engine is at a certain rev-range. I can actually manipulate it by dropping the revs or rising them below that 'fixed point' and the buzz disappears. It's been doing this for at least the last six months but it's so minor that few fellow passengers have picked up on it even when I've pointed it out! I've never bothered taking it back to the dealer because I suspect it would involve a 'dashboard out' job, so I've lived with it.

  37. Hi Ammu. I can only echo others here, really... To answer your first point, this sounds pretty normal to me. My engine usually kicks in when the hybrid battery monitor shows it down to three blocks. I've had it a few times not kick in until it's dropped to two, but that isn't very often at all. You'll also notice the engine will usually run more before kicking into electric mode when it's cold too (for instance, setting out first thing in the morning). With regards to your second point, this sounds normal for almost any car I've ever driven with an automatic transmission. With the clutch always being engaged, it will naturally pull against the brakes. I think the only time I've not heard any 'binding' types of sounds if I'm not pressing the brake hard enough whilst coming to a stop or just releasing the brake pedal slowly from a standstill is on a genuinely brand new automatic car for the first few hundred miles or so - probably before the brakes have had a proper chance to bed-in. Other than that, I hope you enjoy your UX! I've had mine for just over three years now and it's been a very good car indeed. Of course there's a couple of little things which nag me a bit with it, but overall it's proven to be quiet, comfortable, well equipped and well built for the sector it's set in.

To be honest they actually feel to be a better ride and cornering more sure footed ....not that I hoon around corners ....I'm more than happy with how they perform just not so happy about the hole in my wallet !!! I remember back in the day when the Goodyear Grand Prix S were the tyre of choice, does that give my age away? 😂

  39. The 79k yellow V8 has been for sale a while. I think it has some way to go yet - the vast majority of buyers want low miles. There was another yellow V8 with 44k that went between 2-3 main dealers - lowest on that was 53 I think, then another main dealer got it in, put the price up then it sold. Cheapest I've seen since I've been interested in them was Feb '22 - a silver 30k mile private sale Sport Plus that went down to 50 from 52 then sold immediately. The silver one in Wigan with wrongly refurbed wheels at 60k will be the next to drop - that's been for sale since the dawn of time. Yes I have been following things VERY closely 😄 Agree it's a crazy market. I have a Skoda Citigo we bought for 5k in 2020 that is worth 5.5-6k now, we did 20,000 miles in a Tesla over 2 years and came out up on the deal, and if I'd got my last car's sale timing right it would have cost me nothing for two years... but I was too greedy and missed the boat. If it wasn't for covid and the lack of parts for new cars I think an early V8 should be 40-45k by now but we're in for a long wait before they get that low. There's a chance the Lexus Relax 10 yr warranty has boosted things too.

  40. Bill . for what it's worth . P&O Ferries is NOT the same business as P&O Cruises . Ferries is owned by DP World the Emirates guy who sacked 800 crew maybe a year or so back P&O Cruises has a very strong link trading with TUI that is more or less German Govt owned / controlled and is both ABTA and ATOL If you really can't get anywhere with P&O then i would say " go for " TUI and / or issue some sort of writ on the German owners . wake 'em up a little ( if you dare ) BUT ABTA and ATOL are your first port of call and if you manage to awaken them from their slumbers then, well, well done ............ you might get somewhere in the end but it's probably a long long wait . Most passengers really do just chuck in the towel and abandon hope .... they seem totally immune from bad press coverage and don't care a sh..it about let down pax Good luck with it all, just don't stress ....... and expect zero .... and hope for a little better Good luck Malc

  41. IIRC the receiving aerial for the remote locking/unlocking is the rear window de-mister element so check that for any damage or stuff on the parcel shelf. The receiver (again from memory) is located in the passenger side boot area behind the trim. The receiver aerial plugs in to this. Remove the aerial plug then put the metal blade of the key into the socket without touching the sides, press the fob keys and see if they work. If they do suspect the receiver aerial or cable if not working either the fob (unlikely) or receiver unit. You would be lucky to find a replacement receiver if faulty plus complete key reprogramming would be required so a 3rd party replacement option may be the best option. While in the boot check the spare wheel well for water ingress which could be causing damp issues with the electronics, the boot seal being the usual culprit.

  42. !!!!!!!!! Why didn’t Lexus allow them to drive it…? Lexus need to get one to Bjorn Nyland for him to do his Range Test and 1000km Challenge… Range, and Miles / KWH are more important…? Bjorn Nyland’s YouTubes will be of more interest to potential buyers of the RZ450…

  45. Hi all I previously held another account on this forum, which I signed up to in mid February. I enjoyed positive and fruitful engagements with many users for the first month and gained much useful knowledge and insights. Then around the 22nd of March I got targeted by another user who took umbridge with a post I contributed too surrounding DPF/EGR removal (I did not create the original content) and began to send a torrent of hateful abuse at me, naturally I reported the user, and the next thing I know, I received a warning, had my message function disabled and could no longer post content without moderator approval. Since this happened on the 24th of March, I've sent four or five emails to admin asking why I was given a warning and why my access has been restricted and I've not had a single reply, I've also tried to post content and none of it has been posted. I really haven't got a clue what's going on or why I have been singled out and I've been kept completely in the dark over the entire matter. Is this standard protocol for this forum or something? I've never experienced this kind of treatment or lack of communication on any other forum I've been a part of, of which there has been many over the last two decades or so. I would appreciate all and any feedback. Many thanks
