  1. I bought my GS450 back in July, a 2008 SE-L with radar cruise and a sunroof. I’m not someone who is a Lexus fanatic and I can easily see me owning another BMW or MB one day, so my enthusiasm for my GS is not wrapped up in some misplaced tribalism. I was considering CLS350s and 530Ds before getting the Lexus, but I didn’t fancy a diesel and you simply get more kit on the GS than either of the other cars I was looking at. You can buy a very comprehensive Lexus warranty for £1100 for two year years which may be worth doing. I’ll do that once my 12 months approved used warranty runs out. Quick, reliable, comfy. You can do a lot worse than a GS450. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  3. Hi all, Has anyone bought a SAT NAV update from this place? Seems to get good reviews etc and loads cheaper than getting it form ebay. Also like some other copies you dont need to disconnect the battery as part of install. https://satnavstore.com/

  4. Having had my NX Sport for nearly two weeks, today was the day for my first clean. The car has the 'Williams F1' ceramic coating applied by the dealer (well, by an indy the dealer uses) so today was also a good chance to assess the quality of the application and finish The good news is that the paintwork is flawless. Regardless of the merits or otherwise of the Williams coating - which I didn't pay for - the preparation of the car was evidently done very well. My basic regime today was the same as I use for my other cars, although with the Williams coating present I didn't (at this stage) clay or actually prep the paintwork, which I would normally have done. - Snowfoam - Bilt-Hamber Auto-Foam - Wash - Bilt-Hamber Auto-Wash (three bucket method - body, wheels & rinse) - Paintwork & wheels - CarPro Re-Load sealant - Tyres - Bouncers Dress to Impress - Glass - Dodo Supernatural followed by Auto-Perfection Pro Clear - Exterior plastics - Chemical Guys New Look Trim Gel

  5. Hi, Folks, Just joined, but been a lurker for a while. 6. Hi all I have been the proud owner of a IS300 H for two weeks now ,and i am very pleased with it . Having owned a Honda Accord 2.4 auto for ten years i was a little concerned about changing to a hybrid .After reading all the negative reviews of the Lexus by the motoring press,i ignored it and did my research on this site , reading real life owners real world findings. So here i am , and very pleased with the car so far, double the fuel consumption of the Honda , and quick enough when needed. The dealership experience was amazing , very helpful and polite. My main reasons for buying a Lexus where; Reliability [very important to me ] Hybrid technology Looks . not everyone and their dog own one [getting lots of nice comments already] So here's to a happy Lexus experience ,and keep up the good work on this fantastic site. Best Regards Steve.

  8. Dear All, I have some parts available for anyone who is willing to collect until the end of this week from KT6 7NL (Surbiton, South-West London, ideally between 8:00 - 17:00 but I am flexible to help if that is necessary). Those came off from a 2006 IS 250, and those are free of charge: - 4 x 17" alloy set, not in a very great shape (peeling etc.) but those are refurbishable, - Both front calipers in parts, - Also both rear calipers, but those are badly squeezed, - Automatic carpet mat set, the driver one is worn, the other ones are in good condition. Kind regards Gabor Pinter 07943 382577 (Please prefer messages.)

  10. The only bad thing about the e-cvt is the name. It should have been called the Planetary Drive Gear (PDG)! Mention CVT and you think of rubber bands and Daf Variomatic drive.

  11. Two very different cars.......But if this was a p85d/p90d or p100d the Lexus would have got majorly walked.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  15. IS200D Is a different engine to the 220d. I Loved my IS220D it was a 2006 model and had 160000 on it when I sold it, however I had to have the DPF cleaned and regularly removed the EGR valve to clean it (maybe twice a year). I Do about 500 miles a week long motorway journeys' and all though probably better for the car it still gunged up and wasn't much better on the MPG than my mates IS250. I strongly suggest you wait out till a nice 250 pops up and an auto would be ideal the manual gearbox in the diesel is useless and makes no sense.

  16. I'd say go for it if you have found a good example. Like all cars they do go wrong sometimes and unfortunately they can cost a little bit more than others to put right when they do. As with Steve above I also don't see an issue regarding the batteries. There are threads on here from owners who have unfortunately suffered from hybrid battery problems but, as Lee says above, there are some independents who can rectify most problems for a fraction of what Lexus would charge. The hybrid batteries have their own cooling system which vents through the rear parcel shelf so one of the most important thing is that these vents are not obstructed by placing anything on it. I would also add that my car is 11 years old has just had it's 11th annual service from Lexus and was given a Hybrid health check certificate. I don't think it is a warranty as such but merely a certificate to confirm that the hybrid batteries are in good condition and the system is operating as it should. I would also advise to watch out for sticking brake calipers, especially the rears. Again there are threads on here about this. I myself have had all four calipers replaced during my ownership and only last week had another OSR replaced, the previous one lasting 3 years and 16k! However I am taking this further but that's another story. About 3 years ago the 450h was subject to a recall for a fuel pressure modification. If there is no paperwork to say this has been done a phone call to any Lexus dealer will tell you whether the model you are inquiring about was part of the recall and whether the work has been done or not. Also check the bonnet as some early ones had a habit of corroding from the inside out, especially on the edges at the front. Mine was replaced under the anti-corrosion warranty two years ago. However, if the model you are looking at has been looked after as well as claimed these things I have mentioned may never have been a problem, or, have already been addressed. Finally I would say read the forums on here. There is a wealth of information and advice and usually someone who can help you with any questions you have. Good luck with your potential purchase.

  20. The one in Coventry does look very nice. It's the same spec as my own apart from the dark wheels. I assume you know it has 31k miles on it, not the 27k as per the advert? Get your negotiating hat on and you should be able to get it for a good price

  22. I would say same as others, do your homework. I've got one and had it for nearly 2 years and only ever had the egr valve go on my one. Passed both mots without any advisories. Yeah mpg not too good, I get 35mpg but my one has done nearly 160,000 miles and still going strong. I love my car [emoji16] Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

  23. If it has parking sensors then there would be about four round button shaped things on the bumper. What's the year of the car? Trade in for my 08 rx with multimedia and 92k was £5,850

  24. Yes top dollar, but it sounds a good one with that sort of mileage. Surely they must know if it has reversing sensors or not? Salesman should know the car they are selling, sounds like they are trying to duck fixing them. Did the car have the sensors fitted on the back bumper?

  25. I fully agree with the above. I had a 220d some time back. Had to have new engine, egr and dpf within 3 months of ownership. Not a particularly good start. Only consider a diesel if you are doing serious mile munching on the motor way network. Most auto 250's will return a very similar mileage. The gearbox in the diesel is a bit 'agricultural' and the ratios are a bit odd. I found 6th utterly useless unless you can do above 85mph. I now have a Auto 250 (had it for quite a few years) every day I drive it is an absolute pleasure. Try a 250 Auto. I think you'll be amazed. I get 31mpg around town and 36 to 40 on an extended run. Not too shabby for a Auto V6!! Good luck with your search, try as many as you can .... be patient and get the car you want not what some dealer wants you to have. I'd say get a 250 auto ... but I will freely admit I am biased that way.

  26. Gotta chip in here and say please do lots of homework before getting the DERV version, Lexus were running with the flock back when the motor manufactures were let's say encouraged to make diesel versions of their range and unfortunately the D version was the worst car Lexus ever put their badge on, no surprise they were one of the first to discontinue diesel options. So again please do more research and don't get disillusioned with the Lexus brand when you have got a troublesome diesel! ( for troublesome read expensive to maintain) Also Lexus are renowned for the silky smooth auto boxes and to choose to have a manual does detract slightly from the whole Lexus ethos I feel. ( just my opinion, and the diesel was manual only-tells you something right there, I guess that Lexus wish that the diesel were badged with a completely different name altogether back on the day!) my two penneth worth, paul m.

  27. I would suggest you have a good read of the issues on the diesel Lexus models from the owners on this web site. Dealers will of course tell you its a fantastic car as they want to sell it. I have not had one of the diesels so cant really comment but from what I have seen from user issues then look for an IS250

  28. Buy an is250. You will have no regrets!

  29. Haha, to be fair I should of checked properly before purchasing however, i love the car so would it really have stopped me buying it ....probably not

  30. No... that definitely includes "essential service kit", which is oil filter, oil, drain gasket and cabin + air filter "if required*" and finally top-up of all other fluids to the recommended level.. and and and cheapest wash&vac. That is why I think it is decent value, the oil + filter and gasket alone is ~£60 for parts. Do not expect filter to be changed unless you have rat nest in the air-box... but even then it is decent value for money. Standard price for this is £149 (same as £165 from Jemca), the plus is that Woodford gives courtesy car for free... just be careful with local "white vans" - they tend to attack CT's.
