  2. Mods - please - can this image be removed? As a person that spends hours detailing their own garage queen, I find this picture distressing!!!!

  3. It's snowy here today. Nasty snow; ice, snow, compacted snow, slush. Lots of stuck cars, spinning cars etc. We were both fine. Nokian Weatherprrof on hers, Michelin Latitude Tour HP - both all season. We both felt safe and secure. Cars were getting stuck on the slightest of inclines. I felt I could have stopped on a hill and started again, easily. It felt good. And safe.

  5. @Big Rat thanks Paul! Time to set some nee challenges for myself. Been at my current job just over 4 years now so the time has come.. my love and loyalty to the brand made me give it a try and ended up getting it! One of the big things I pushed on George the centre manager was that I could bring a more connected and personal experience for Lexus owners especially the F owners. Any mumbles and grumbles you tell me and if your after a product also give me a message. We both want to Lexus to expand and we both want Lexus Stoke to be the best centre in the UK. Look forward to meeting you all sooner in the year. Stay Safe. C

  9. Collected the new (old) car today What a difference - its practically new (although its 12 years old) Absolutely spotless, cant find a mark on it whatsoever. The owner has only had to refurb the wheels and even they have been done really well. 25k on the clock and it feels new - quiet and pulls like a tractor. Sunroof is a very nice option and I have already got used to the leather seats - I thought that they were cream but they are a dusky grey which is quite unique and goes well with the colour of the car which is a light blue colour. Loving it so far

  10. This is one thing i miss about my BMW. It turned off the auto wipers when you locked the car, so no worry about this happening.

  11. We stay in Bishopton which was 2nd worst hit in the UK this week with 45cm of snow and deeper drifts. The RX350 might be a soft roader with no proper 4WD system but it was surprisingly good. Never got stuck once despite drifts over the bonnet. I ended up doing mercy missions for snowbound villagers getting bread, milk and medicines. Also did a few runs to local hospitals transporting staff. Obviously the Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme S helped because I passed several stuck 4x4’s including XC90s, Ravs, CRVs, X-trails, etc. Also took the GS450H out which was awesome (also has Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme S). The only thing it wasn’t great at was towing people stuck in ditches but that’s to be expected with no diff lock. This was down the sheltered bit at the side of the house. 12. Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme S is the winter tyre I’ve been using for about 5 years on everything from SLK280 to X-trails and a 272bhp V6 Touareg. They can be used all year round and turn any car into a beast in the snow, handle fine on warm summers day but make a huge difference to grip on snow ice and cold greasy roads. 16. Trust me I've been in it with @Warrington guy Dave driving it...... it lived between 5-8000 revs all the time with me whooping for joy like a small child on the back seat..... 😇 🐀

  17. You can replace the bottom part of the oem unit for a second double din screen, which allows you to add a apple carplay /android auto system. Probably cost you £600+ depending on the system you choose but it is fantastic. Voice controlled Google maps, Spotify, oem steering wheel control etc etc.

  20. Doohhhhh!!! I was responding to the post above and mis-read ' Quantity' for 'Quality' !!!!!! sorry, I'll get me coat and be gone soon... But the Amount of fuel in the tank is gonna be electro-mechanically detected ie a float on a pivoted arm or rising guide bar is gonna adjust a potentiometer to report back to the gauge electrically. paul m.

  27. Welcome @C.B, you'll find all the help you need on this forum. Good folks on here that will help you out, a real car community. I recently brought an F too and I'm in love with it, not drove it much because of the weather recently but I can't wait get it back out. The infotainment system is the only thing that feels dated but it's function and that's what matters. Nothing an aux cable can't sort. Best option on the Market and I've recently just landed a job as a sales rep at Lexus Stoke and I start on the 10th so I'll keep my ears to the ground for you. Do you have any specific specs? C

  28. Mine was driving great in the snow today too much better than my old Bimmer.

  29. Trouble with that is you have to remember to switch auto wipers back on......every day of the year ! I'd rather remember to deactivate just on the occasions that frost or snow is expected. If there's frost or snow, I deactivate auto wipers in the morning, before I switch on. Far better than having to remember to reactivate every day of the year !!

  31. Thanks fellas always gives you a nice sense of securityif you find the previous owner of a car and they have nothing but praise for it! Due to the year it will have DAB that was just in case I find myself buying a pre 2010 car. Not aware of the infinity back boxes and cant see much on youtube can anyone point me in the direction of a vid?

  32. @C.B Craig welcome to the forum, and hopefully to your ownership, the car you mention is very well known on here as @Flytvrmentioned it was @Mark G car until a few months ago and a lot of us know the car well. He is fastidious about maintaining his motors and simply went down the Gsf route, there are loads of pictures and vids of the car about, and as regards the warranty you will get more than 3 years on that car without a doubt. As regards DAB contact @emjay82 he's the man to talk to. Big Rat

  37. i would think the PX value would be determined on what you are PX against, if they are going to make a huge profit on the car your PX against then they can offer you a much better PX value on your car. how much they would give you CASH with no PX would give you a better value of your car.

  38. PHIL - they gave us £2,000 for it. I would have liked more and probably would have got more if I'd put it in Autotrader privately, but it would have been quite a headache logistically so we thought it best to go for the trade in - one car in, one car out, all on the same day. ABU - It was averaging 15.4mpg according to my fuelly page for it, which isn't bad for the sort of use it had (mainly town with a couple of 200 mile round trip motorway blasts per month). It's a very decent car and, truthfully, the only reason we changed it was that our financial circumstances changed, allowing us to get something much newer to set us up for retirement, otherwise we'd have kept it. As for the RX450h - it's a whole order of magnitude above the RX300. It's absolutely brilliant, and beautiful, and we love it! I'll do a proper write-up when I have the chance but yes, well chuffed with it.

  40. The DPF mode overfuels to allow the filter to heat up to burn off the soot. If the engine is stopped before the cycle has completed the excess fuel ends up in the sump. Jag forums have examples about it.

  41. Another update, engine is back in the bay!! Looking right at home too! Will let the pictures do the talking. as you can see in the last picture the manifold is VERY close to the suspension turret! Looks like i will be using the competition vibratechnics mounts to minimize engine movement. I had those in my mk1 focus rs and on cold start/idle they would literally shake the car to pieces!! 6cyl engines are more balanced so im guessing vibrations wont be as bad not to mention the lexus is put together better than an old ford 😂. Also there is an issue with the powersteering pump and reservoir, looks like i will need a relocation kit as the reservoir is going to be obstructed by the throttle body. As you can see ive just thrown this back in, ive not done any of the loom as i just needed to create space in the garage. Its easy enough to lift back up to change the mounts and put the loom back on if needs be.

  42. Oddly enough, going out in the snow today the windscreen wipers weren't frozen to the screen. But when I tried the washers after a while - nothing happened. They were frozen. (Has someone been diluting my screenwash?) Heated nozzles would have been handy. When I got back home I had another go. The interesting thing was that after the initial whirring you get from the screenwasher it went silent. No matter how much I pulled the wiper stalk there was no whirring noise. Could it have been one of these automatically resetting circuit breakers mentioned above? Anyway I poured some cold water on the nozzles in the hope of unfreezing them. Then I tried again after an interval. The whirring noise was back (had the circuit breakers reset?) and the washers were now working. Finally, I topped up the reservoir with some more antifreeze screenwash - let's hope it doesn't happen again.

  43. You only need heated washer nozzles if your screenwash is rubbish. The original Toyota stuff is rated down to -70 degrees so you shouldn't have any issues.

  46. It heats the lower part of the windscreen where the wiper parks to prevent them from sticking to the screen
