  1. I spent some time in an LC500 on Friday. Liked it 👌 The Mrs is also ‘making’ me drive a C63 Coupe

  2. Quick update on this one for you all. I will be doing a recon mission this coming Saturday to finalise the route and will publish this with a new poll including a 'day trippers' option. Looks like there aren't many from daaarn saaarf heading up (Me, Cezar and maybe Big Rat and a few others as day trippers so rather than meet at Birmingham (which is not exactly on route for a lot of us) I'm proposing we meet at Lexus Derby instead which is just a short blast off the M1 or A38 depending on which way you've come. I'd say met there to leave at about 10:30am. The route from there will be a criss-cross of the peak district and will take in (in no particular order) Matlock, Bakewell, Buxton, Castleton, Hope Valley (Winnats Pass), Glossop (outskirts), The Snake Pass (A57), Stanage, Hathersage, Chatsworth and most likely a couple of the reservoirs at the very North of the peaks. The trip will be about 75-100 miles (maybe a little more) from Derby but given that a lot of it is A roads then I'd expect this to take a pretty full day including various stops for tea and biscuits etc. I'm scoping out a few hotels on the weekend so will post more news on those once I've seen them in the flesh. Please watch the forum for more updates and the new route and options. Will be good if we can get a good few attendees, even if many are just day trippers! More soon... and why the hell has nobody ever used this before ->

  7. As some of you know, I've had my head turned by another car 😥 I've had Lexus remove the Quicksilver exhaust system and returned the car back to 100% stock. There have been at least four members buy QS as a result of hearing my exhaust. I'm sure anyone of these members (and others) will verify how good these exhausts sound. So, if you are on the lookout for a Quicksilver exhaust - drop me a personal message. Here it is -

  12. @mrfunex more due to offsets on the alloys, as originally went for 20et but way too aggressive. Liked the look of these alloys but they were in a 40et so just used a 5mm spacer on the front to square up ever so slightly and give a net 35 offset. Rears are aggressive enough and wanted to ensure clearance on the arches but could have pushed them to a 30et if I was feeling brave. Kids and luggage in the back might have rubbed on the wheel arch so I bottled it 🙂 Ended up with a pair of 5mm Eibach's on the front in a 114PCD setup This is a clever little website if anyone looking but now heading off topic! Pic below gives a better indication of the stagger... https://www.willtheyfit.com/ Cheers Matt

  17. Hi all, Just had 11.5 rears on 285/30/20 and 9.5 fronts on 265's with 5mm spacers. Next job is orange calipers to tidy up. Had a Borla Cat back system fitted as well, which I highly recommend! Cheers Matt

  19. I disagree. Quality LS400's have been changing hands for decent sums in recent years. In fact, the green car in this months Modern Classic's magazine (the owner is a member here) bought his mk3 for around £8,000 a few years back. There was a very low mileage mk4 (circa 30,000 miles) that was sold for £12,995 last year. Earlier this year I remember two mk3 models circa 50,000 miles that were £7-8,000. Then there was the mk3 car advertised last week on Autotrader with 60,000 miles that was sold for £2,500 to a dealer and then re-appeared a few days later and sold right away again for £6,500. People who want a good quality LS will pay for them it seems and why not when you consider they are one of the best cars produced. Yes you can buy 150,000 mile drift cars with ten owners and needing a full respray for £2,000 or so. Or, you can pay more and get one that is pristine. Supply and demand in the end.

  28. Please get an extended warranty on any Lexus diesel. It will give you peace of mind and save you thousands if the head goes. I had a 220d with 90 on the clock and FLSH. Went pop inside 6 weeks. I was covered by Lexus, but I saw the bill and it was £4600. Test drive as many as you can, see how you find the gearbox and see what mpg is displayed. Oh and forget 6th gear , I found it utterly useless unless you are doing 90mph+ which obviously you shouldn't be!!

  33. Been putting off working on this shot for a while - it's not my best of the summer from there. The light never really came through and this glimmer the only light of the day - shame really as the sky was epic and had it come through it would have been one of the all time great mornings. _DSC3477 by Stephen Taylor, on Flickr The same could be said actually of this one. Some nice cloud about - but it was also too thick behind me when the sun dipped to do anything meaningful. It was on a 121 workshop and whilst the client enjoyed it which was the main thing. _DSC3844 by Stephen Taylor, on Flickr Lochan Na Fola - this was one of the best mornings out...like ever... _DSC3732 by Stephen Taylor, on Flickr Summer at the Torren Lochan - just sat here in the heat made my day. Not long after this the water levels dropped leaving a slightly unsightly muddy line between the water and the grasses. A few more clouds would have been nice perhaps but just being out in the nice weather was joy enough _DSC3762 by Stephen Taylor, on Flickr Buachaille Etive Mor - probably posted some shots from this series in another thread but not this one. Been back countless times but none have panned out as well as this night. _DSC3409 by Stephen Taylor, on Flickr May Bank holiday at Lochan na Stainge _DSC2469 by Stephen Taylor, on Flickr Two of the best of the summer from Torren Lochan _DSC3781 by Stephen Taylor, on Flickr _DSC3810 by Stephen Taylor, on Flickr

  34. Pshaw. I once got an brilliant idea to buy broken beautiful alfa 159 and drop in lexus IS/GS powerpack and whole new electrics. Only problem were: it is easy to find broken alfa 159, but not AWD; and this is transverse [censored], not longitudinal setup. And next I was "Ben, people think you are grown man, let's keep this way...".

  35. Well a bit of Sherlock Holmes is good for the brain! And if you're handy with amps and car music systems maybe you can suss out what's wrong with my Volvo system, especially as I'm only along the coast road in Worthing! I'll be in Brighton later this week if you're around, it'll be interesting to have a look at your RX.

  36. Very pleased to say that I've bought the LS600H from Lexus Stoke. Paid a deposit this afternoon. Even though the car is a few day's over the 10 year mark, and just over 101k on the clock, they have included an extended 2 year full warranty into the deal giving me a total of 3 years of main dealer Lexus warranty with the car. The wheels are going off for a complete refurb and there are few other bits they are doing too before I can pick up it, hopefully in a week or so. Very pleased to be back in the Lexus club!

  38. £900 even with the fault sounds like a bargain to me! Have you tried disconnecting the sensors to see if it drops right down? Also I seem to remember reading that faulty front sensors/struts can give the impression it's the rear that's at fault. If all else fails how about converting to coil struts? A few have done it with the 4 costing the same as one new air strut.

  39. I purchased the RX300 SE-L for £900 with the fault I have a unit as i own a car wash and plenty of tools Yes i dissembled both rear sensors and cleaned them inside gently . The car was lower this morning and the compressor kicked in and did raise it , also interestingly the Lo position worked when i pressed it which it didn't before .but didn't after the light blinks then goes solid green but the car is still stiff. as you will see i have totally dismantled rear loading area to access everything as also dealing with a no audio issue. have run diagnostic and the front height also show as fault HOWEVER the ride is still rock hard ,the car is superb and in amazing condition with full full history none showing Height sensor repairs , I bought it as guessed if i cannot repair it i will strip the good stuff and sell parts so im comfy that i can recoup the money , i dont really want to be buying new sensors if its the air struts,. certainly happy to replace either as there is value in the car for me also has 3 fully working keys etc..

  42. Irrespective of the aircon performance, driving a car with a Lexus badge is cool ! Don't want a German marque here.

  45. They are called route trace and I'm guessing the system will only remember so far. try turning it off and on again. I think its designed for recording a specific route you travel instead of the three shortest/fastest routes the system suggests.

  46. Briefly: drive in or transit has not much with detailed EU rules and laws, until you not import the car into EU. For international transit across Europe most important set of rules is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vienna_Convention_on_Road_Traffic Please read with care article (or Convention itself). And I may suggest print couple of most important original parts about "the vehicle must meet all technical requirements to be legal for road use in the country of registration", the vehicle has to be equipped for country of registration only etc. in English and French, and keep it in you car on the road. That was theory. In practice, it is depending of the mood of policemen, acctual rules invented by their managers and politicians, and if you have a strenght and THE WILL to discuss with police and beyond, like with diplomatic consule on your phone try to explain angry police force to [censored] off of your car. Last 20yrs was a lot of "road wars" in all Europe, all "borders". Polish police could try to check if you have certified fire extinguisher and a triangle, German if you have certified medpack and hi-viz vests for all passengers, and most "funny": snow tyres in the winter, French if you have certified alco-test, and so forth. And every of them could try to ticket you, because why not and they know you have not time nor will to spend half a night to discuss with them and consul. I don't say every policeman is fraudster lookin for you money, and every chief of police or politicians set-up local "rules for forigners cars" from the top of hat is idiot, but be prepared. And travelling with "stranger" licence plates in ridiculous car, loud, tinted like batmobil, with crazy aftermarket lamps, etc etc provoke any road police very easy. Low profile and blend into the crowd are much better bet. And you are a bit handicapped at the very beginning with Ukrainian licence plates, sorry.

  47. I imagine they would allow entry as it's not a customs issue. However, you will definitely have to abide by the motoring laws of the countries you visit. These vary and are not necessarily EU wide but country specific. I guess you'll have to check the laws re tinting of each country you plan to visit and check if yours are legal or you may indeed get stopped and fined. Some countries have on the spot fines
