  5. Welcome Andy 🙂 Do you not have the service book? You may find the online details lacking, especially the older entries.

  6. hi congratulations on your new car. You need to sign up to my lexus on lexus.co.uk and enter your vehicle documents details when asked and from that you’ll find your history of your car. Furthermore once signed up you can download the lexus link application and you can send directions to your car, depending on the sat nav model. I hope this helps. If it’s all incorrect then ask lexus customer relations to speak to all the dealers and they’ll make it correct as there some glitches within the system.

  7. They are quite far away from me though! There is a well reputed Jap indy not far from me I think so if needs be I'll contact them. I need to use the car on Thursday so I'll see what's it's like then and report back!

  8. Just reading this post and wondering if its worth getting on the blower to Japex and seeing what they think. Not sure if this is Osaka territory, but no harm in calling them as well. Give them a shout if the local service dealer cannot pinpoint anything specific

  9. Turns out I was wrong, the top mount is a bit worn but not in imminent need of replacement. The knocking was caused by the air resonator being mounted in the wrong position, now fixed by my local garage, and generally I was advised not to idle for long periods with the transmission in gear.

  10. I agree with Malc, it's best done by someone who has done it before. I've recently bought a Gates kit for mine, belt, idler, tensioner and water pump for £180. I'm having mine done on the 12th by someone who has done them before (and for some reason enjoys doing them) all for £150 labour. Not doing the pump is false economy as a failed pump can take out the belt, and the engine with it. eBay seller called carpartsinmotion, delivered within 18 hours!

  11. Warranty done on the monthly. Hopefully I won't have to hand the car back 😅

  12. had mine done by my indy mechanic last year at 205k miles ( after 100k miles and 11 years ... the old belt looked in very good condition too as did the waterpump )........ certainly an all day job cambelt, check all pulleys and replace the waterpump too serpentine belt and coolant too at the same time I did of course leave my guy to get all the appropriate parts A good competent mechanic should be able to do the job but it would be better to have someone do it who's done one before I guess ....... and trusted My guy's in Margate and looked after my Ls400s ( my 3rd now ) for 12 years and very succesfully too ...... and my other cars too Malc

  14. For those who remember these films ( for those that don’t please google 😀) Here’s something you don’t see everyday never mind have the chance to buy with all that money saved from not going on holiday. https://www.ebay.com/itm/254208236291?ul_noapp=true&fbclid=IwAR3qJc9ddc3iDCx1Dx3XlmKHqYjAz3kCHS3zuyvUqjPIyg4fLiNvxgHHCzA

  16. All tyres are the same, Dunlop Sport SP01A, manufactured 48th week 2016, 245/45 ZR19. I've got a stack of paperwork, going though at the moment to piece together the history of as much as poss. Enjoying getting everything up to standard to date. Thought this summer would be a chance to finally get to work on my project car (MX-5), at the moment it's looking more like Lexus-stravaganza 🙂

  18. Apparently the Lexus IS isn't coming to Europe or the UK according to an Autocar. They say the ES is outselling the IS 2:1. The issue I have with that argument is they're essentially comparing a 2013 vehicle to a brand new one so surely the figures are going to be slightly skewed Id welcome a new IS tbh, the small executive saloon market is still alive.

  19. Cool I remember the film well, and you are right, I don't recall seeing one of these cars before. Although, as far as the cars in the film are concerned, what always sticks out to me is that they couldn't leave the underground car park without whacking the bottom of the car Classic film though that I highly recommend a viewing of for those that haven't seen it.

  21. I know what you're saying Mark and I agree - better to be safe than sorry and all that. However, I must take issue with your statement that "it's not uncommon". In more than 45 years of personally driving, messing with jump leads, doing all my own maintenance etc., talking to friends and family about it, and also talking to the mechanics in the BT garage and also a mate of mine who is a mechanic in the NW Ambulance Service garage, not a single one of us has ever had it happen to us personally, nor does anyone know someone who has had it happen to them. Of course, we should stick to the rules and I'm not telling anyone to do otherwise, but "not uncommon"? I'd say it's about as uncommon as an uncommon thing on World Uncommon Day to be honest 😄

  22. @B1 RMA (car has only done 2000 odd miles since the last service). I'm in similar territory with only 1000 miles since service in October and 3000 since last MOT which is due now. As a second car I'm simply not using the her enough which is a shame so thinking about selling. Have to agree on the Warrenty point though on cost and longevity. Mine runs to March 2022 when the car will be 13 years old! Bless you Lexus. Bless you Lexus too for giving me 3 months extra free due to covid. Where else can you find such a car still under a great warranty? Hold on a min....it sounds like a car I should buy not sell🤣

  23. Roy has done the basics available for free on line, good mot history in that no advises or fails over the years, so somebody has looked after it . Unusual colour which is a plus , Ivory interior looks ok for the mileage , headlamp don’t appear faded from the photos . questions to ask is if the timing belt on the engine has been replaced, if no paperwork to say its been done, that is a priority job. should be no lights on the dashboard once started . sat/nav works ...although they were never that good when new ! roof should be smooth in operation . boot carpets have no stains from the photos so that’s a positive. check tyres for condition and see if the disc brakes look corroded. handbrake should hold the car on a hill. play the radio/cd player at fair volume as the front speakers disintegrate with age and sound terrible. Air/con should be very cold if set on 16degs. check every switch and button in the car including the folding mirrors, if the glass is broken they are over £350 each ..just glass ! under the bonnet.... Oil is a nice Golden colour, no stains of coolant loss, pas and brake master cylinder topped up. in boot.... full tool kit under the mat . on road test ....... should be quite and smooth with no knocks from the suspension over rough surfaces, steering shouldn’t pull to the left or to the right when driving or breaking, gearbox kick down should be very good in "power mode" that’s the little switch on the Silver centre consul by the gear knob. Can’t think of much else for now, service history would be nice . let us know how you get on ...price could be cheaper but on the other had is and unusual colour and with a SC history and colour command good money👍🏻👍🏻

  25. Now I am a cynical old s*d, and have a few number of friends in NHS (both high up in management, and down on the shop floor), and before I was laid up in hospital we all were saying, 'stuff the clap", what the NHS needs is to stop being starved of cash/resource. Anyway while in hospital recovering from Covid-19 and heart attack several of the nurses said that they were really touched by the clapping. As there is little industrial noise, one said she was over 1 mile from the centre of Gloucester and she could hear it clearly. So old cynic converted, and totally stand behind the work the doctors, nurses, cleaners and so on are doing. So having been told to take it easy by the nurses, I am nearly ready to go see how my LS is doing, as it has been sat idle for 6 weeks, so will probably need to whip battery out and re-charge. Am looking forward to when I can have enough energy to do some of the smaller jobs, as I am likely to only be working part time once work re-opens. Sure as heck looking forward at some point in about 2 months to be taking the beast for a drive.

  26. I agree, the only political topics to be discussed on the LOC should be right wing, left wing and the bonnet in the centre. As such I have locked this post.

  29. 3 years old in October, will have less than 6k miles on the clock, they want £1500 for a 1 year extended warranty, at the moment there is no 2 for 1 deal on the LC. what to do?
