To give an example, 2 weeks ago I was visited by local plod who informed me that a complaint had been made that I had caused £800 of damage to a car in a car park by repeatedly opening my door into theirs. I recalled a situation where I parked in an empty part of this car park only to return to the car with another car parked so close to me that I struggled to get in my car. At no point did my car door touch theirs. I was able to download footage from my dashcam which showed the other car parking up next to me in an empty car park very closely, my dashcam records movement when the ignition is off. The police concluded that the other party was trying it on and had parked so close with the intent of trying to make a claim. Only you can decide if you think you can benefit from one but there are plenty of scammers out there

Had a call from the Lexus Customer Relations and I asked if they could give me an update on the delivery time of my car and a day later got this update via email. Bonus, I'd been given a delivery date of 20/09/22, ordered early Feb. 450+ F-Sport

Agree totally. I have just been away in the car for a long weekend and according to the app my last journey was 3 days ago and the car today is currently 40 miles away which is very strange given it is currently charging on my driveway! This is poor and Lexus need to get this issue addressed.

I’m in the same situation. I ordered an NX350h F Sport in Nov 21, I had my test drive in January and was at that time given a forecast delivery of May. I’ve heard nothing from the dealership since other than a rather fancy flyer advertising the new NX. The app is still showing the ‘Order in Progress’ stage. Looks like I’ll not be using the 22 plate I bought from the DVLA and will be buying a 72 plate instead. All I can do is sit tight with the comfort that the agreed trade value for my current NX appears better and better as the months go by.

Thanks everyone. I'll replace them now, just didn't want to spend the money if it wasn't necessary. BTW I am very keen on keeping the pressures where they should be with regular checks and at the same time keeping fit using my foot pump 🙂

Why not? Far too many idiots around on the roads these days. Accidents can be genuine and, well, accidental, or they can be deliberate 'crash for cash' occurences. Dashcams can show who caused the accident and the footage can be used in fighting your case. They can also capture agressors tunring violent towards you or someone else. An absolute 'must have' in this day and age.

Well after much consideration I have traded the USB ISF and got a AMG E63 Wagon The trader has found a new home for it already (1 week) and he lives in Melton Mowbray. He may well find his way here hopefully Any owners from the area can keep an eye out for GX10 ***.

I think we're all on the same page here - garages like to recommend stuff that they can charge for, especially when the science justifies it - poor operation of the system can cause the issues they are looking for - by sensible system usage you can avoid such issues for quite a long time

When this will happen I don’t know, I could probably do it all by Sunday but my body wouldn’t cope with it after doing the front - everything aches at the moment, especially my back……. I’m doing the steering rack bushes while all the under trays are off, I’ll have a good look first though and see what the situation is. My body will cope with this I think🙃

Same comments as 3 above.Use it regularly and try to blast out the cold air in the system with air con off and a minute of high fan speed should help prevent condensation in the system which causes the musty smell. I,ve just sold my wife's 10 yr old Mazda CX7 with the Aircon never having been serviced and working perfectly.It,s a money making exercise by the garage.

Hopefully it's an easy fix otherwise I can talk you through a simple upgrade.😏

I've never needed any "antibacterial cleansing" in any aircon system I've ever had but even if it were needed, I believe it's something you can do yourself so I wouldn't be paying a dealer to do it. This is just one of many videos on the subject: As for the "aircon service" it's nothing but one big con. The air conditioning/climate control system is a completely sealed and self-contained system. The refrigerant gas and the lubricating oil in the system never wear out, never degrade, never age and are never changed by their environment. Given that, what can possibly need "servicing"? If the system doesn't get as cold as it once used to, the only explanation for that is a fault somewhere, most likely a leak of refrigerant but on a sealed system that's a fault that would need to be investigated using vacuum pumps and dye, not something that a routine service would cover or fix. I've had cars for ten years that are as icy cold as the day I bought them and they've never had a routine service on the A/C - it's simply not needed.

What's more disappointing and frustrating is these relay attacks have been known about for many years, yet Toyota still hasn't done anything about it - they are still launching new models today with it. The reality is they don't care unless it starts to affect sales - until then they want to maximise the return on investment they/Denso has made on the current, flawed, system. A solution already exists - use ultra-wideband technology which has time-of-flight calculations built into the protocol to stop relays from being possible.

I would be careful to buy the correct speed rating of tyre. When I bought my GS450h I asked the dealer to put on new cross climates as tyres needed replacing. 9 months later I found that H (130mph) rated ones had been fitted not the Y (186mph) ones Lexus specified. I contacted my insurer who said that I was not insured as the tyres weren't the correct spec. I replaced with Y rated ones after negotiating a proportional contribution from the dealer I bought the car from.

That's interesting. I asked my electrician if it would work off wi-fi as I have a strong signal in the garage. He told me it was impossible as it wasn't designed for this only 2G. I think I will mention this to him and see what he says.

Mine is exactly the same, no white light, green when plugged in and blue whilst charging. It occasionally drops to offline. BG had arranged an engineers visit next week but called today to cancel this and rearrange for some unknown reason. I said that as it was working I would leave things as they are however BG indicated a move fro phone signal to wireless is being introduced shortly and have added my name to a "waiting list " for this to be updated on my device.

You got me wondering, so I went outside and cold started mine while filmng. It sounds quiet and smooth, but the phone recorded a lot more engine noise as it was closer. Still much less tappety than the one being sold above. 20220531_162056.mp4

Obviously brakes are a consumable, and they will rust if the car is not used. Not a major issue, but it doesn't like a well looked after car, we can't see much here though.

Firstly. we live literally 300 yards away from a mobile mast and have excellent coverage in the area. I am with EE and get 140mbs on 4G which is more than good. When I first rang BG about the problem they suggested I was in a poor signal area which obviously I am not. I have got to know the electrician who installed it quite well as he lives a couples of miles away and I know from him that other people are having issues. It cant all be down to poor signals as far as I am concerned. I have just charged the car and I confirm that I don't have a white standby light. It goes green when I plug in and changes to blue when it starts charging and that is it. I am not sure if there is a problem with these chargers but signal certainly is not a problem in my area.

Does sound a bit tappy, but they are a bit noisy. I wonder why the revs are so high, seem unnatural even a cold start tickover is lower. The volume could be because he's got his head in the engine bay so can't conclude for sure if not right. The scuttle is covered in debris and the engine bay looks pretty rusty and tired to me though. Check past MOT history for rust comments (I know you turned it down already).

@John AdamsInteresting, they asked me if we are in a poor signal area, which we are although EE signal is fine. They said that the card in the charger should continually roam for the best signal and that they can’t see our charger on their system which is why they are sending out an engineer to investigate. Do you have a white standby light showing on the charger. We don’t and others have mentioned that they don’t but BG told me on the phone that a standby white light should always be visible to show that the unit is connected to power. we’ve done all sorts of tests remotely so we’ll see if the engineer can sort it when he comes on Tuesday next week

A good point about which many drivers seem unaware. Exhausts lay an invisible film of oil particles on the road surface, which build up and it becomes very treacherous the first time it rains. As for Jeff’s tyres, the tread wear indicators seem pretty near the surface and the sipes are clearly well worn down. Personally, I aim to replace tyres when the tread depth is at 3mm, which is generally recommended by most tyre manufacturers. Of course, you might think that they would, wouldn’t they. But apparently it’s the point at which tyre performance declines rapidly. Checking the tracking - and maintaining correct inflation pressures - are obviously well-worth doing. As for the best time to replace them, well unless there are budgetary restraints - and given the comments on tread depth - then I see no benefit in delaying. It’s surely better to change them just before you need to, then to discover that you’ve left it too late!

I dont live that far but I travel down that Chorley road quite often, that back road leads to blackburn/ darwin.

My (non-professional) advice from what I can see is to keep them for now and have a nice, full-tread depth tyre fitted for the winter. Bear in mind that your current tyres are worn so wet weather performance will be reduced. Be especially careful if we have a long hot spell followed by a heavy downpour. Drive safe.

I concur. 'Sit tight and wait' is definitely the best advice at present. I also ordered Nov 21 and my experience is not to trust any ETAs. The only real ETA starts with the confirmation that your order has moved to build. Anything else....is for the birds 🐦 and fairies 🧚‍♀️

Hugh, to echo Malc, a fine looking car, and priced well. I know what you mean about stewing over the decision, I keep stewing over whether to move on from my Mk4 (with 217,000) on the clock. not as pristine as yours, with more bits starting to fail and show there age. I sat in a mates Merc CL550 (ten years old) full of gizmos, but when I got back in my LS, I knew why the LS has really stolen my heart. I do a 24 mile round trip to work, so does get daily usage, and like you say hopefully someone can give your car the miles it deserves

I have Hive for heating etc but this Hive charger is a nightmare. First one fitted would not connect to the app. Various things were tried and eventually they concluded the unit was faulty and replaced it under warrant without any fuss which impressed me. The new one worked fine for about a week and was then repeatedly showing off line and will only work on rare occasions which is quite frustrating. The electrician who fitted it rang me to ask how I was getting on and I told him the problem. He said he has another customer about 5 miles away who has the same problem and BG will investigate. They have now come back and concluded we have a problem with 2G in the area and that's why we have problems connecting. Whether or not this is true I don't know but it is annoying not seeing the data although it charges ok. Not impressed to be honest with the charger but at least BG tried to fix it.

Thank you Malc. I've been stewing over it for months, and written an ad several times, only to change my mind. I'm really not using it, so once I made my mind up, decided to price it to sell quickly, hopefully.

I think the top screen relies on power from the connection to the lower cover. As you recently had an issue with that one, perhaps there may be a link.

I don't know what the dash looks like in one of these but if you have a cigar lighter you could just replace it with one of these like I did in my RX300 (plenty of choice on eBay):

Early days with mine but charger and app appear to be OK. Occasionally the app says the charger is offline but quickly resolves this. I already had the Hive app for domestic gas and electricity so adding the ev charger was simple.

For those of you who don't live in or travel frequently to London, Ulez and congestion charge are two different things. It is Ulez exempt as It's a Euro 5 engine. Petrol cars need to be at least Euro 4 for Ulez exemption. Diesel cars need to be Euro 6.

I am sorry, but I just can't be excited about another damn SUV. New EV coupe that would be something unusual, but new electric SUV is literally old news. As for RZ in particular - design just looks too busy with too many angles which exists just for sake of existing. As well yoke is idiotic (and yes Tesla model plaid yoke is idiotic fad which exists for not other reason than just to be different) in production car, it works well in F1 and other circuit race cars because of their very narrow steering angles (270 degrees max, but no more than 160 degrees actually usable on the track), but it completely does not work on the car where you have 720 degrees of steering and practical application of using car on the street, this stupid fad need to die out before it becomes popular. It is literally dangerous on road car and I argue should be banned. Like we don't use slicks on road we should not use F1 steering wheels.
