  1. Fair play to the sales staff at Swindon if they got anywhere near the asking price! and hope they paid the ex-owner a decent price too.... It is top of the pile for a GSF, and obviously there was a buyer looking for that exact car that made the deal click. The market today for large engined (4L+) thirsty super saloons is limited, and they're a dying breed. The right example will always find a buyer, only cars with the right provenance low mileage, low owners, faultless history etc etc etc, will see prices rise. Those cars that have been used, loved and past through many hands will just get caught up in the mix. In my opinion the GSF will probably fair better than the others, due to its rarity (hopefully for the owners) However rarity doesn't always guarantee a sale. My brother has a 1 previous owner merc c63 507 Saloon black on black for sale <35k miles and is mint, priced sensibly - a proper unicorn. Not even a nibble. Time will tell for the F's.

  2. The School Run is killing my average so I've stopped worrying about it. If I think about it too much I may wish I was back in the land of the wage-slaves instead of enjoying a non-stop life of excitement as a retiree!

  3. As it appeared for me - the problem returned back so I googled what else I can do. There was a suggestion to clean the motors inside - especially the commutator and brushes. But the motors were different from what I have, so needed to figure out how to get inside. The pieces are connected mechanically, creating a lock to keep them together: It appeared to be easy to pop up the upper part with a small screwdriver put into a hole between the plastic part and the main body: Im my case there wasn't any rust, just oil mixed with graphite from the brushes, making the commutator non-working: I used WD40 contact cleaner with paper and Fiberglass Scratch Brush Pencil to clean the commutator and brushes: Be careful and don't lose the white plastic ring - it keeps the lamels together and the motor cannot be used without it: Then I assembled all parts using some superglue on one of the motorts (the one where I damaged the locking parts on a metal body, while tried to figure out how to disassemble it). The second motor where I used a screwdriver from the beginning to pop it up - the parts are attached securely. In the end I cleaned all the plastic gears and applied a silicone grease for plastics rubber seals: It's been a few days already and all work smooth and fast. The only issue I had from my very first attempt - I have auto dimming mirrors, so after the reinstalling them into the mirror body I have non-working spots where I pushed the mirrors to fasten them.

  4. Maybe they get extra warm in use, combined with salty road vapour and a constant flow of air. Perfect rusty combo.

  5. I think all the decent examples of F cars will start not only retaining, but going up in value. Looking at the current new car line-up on Lexus website, it's all Hybrid and Electric, they've removed RC F and LC completely, even the LS page (admittedly LS is not an F model) is now simply a placeholder. Hopefully that's not a sign of things to come 😥

  6. The canbus theft doesn't affect the new gen RX. Just leave the keys in a metal tin or Faraday pouch

  7. Hey, its been a while.... not alot has changed tbh. I spent the whole of last year just enjoying it and going to shows. Actually won an award at an Exclusive JDM show which was a proud moment, all the hard work over the years payed off. Did another Exclusive JDM show at Sturgate straight and managed to really stretch its legs, 1st time launching the car and using the 2step properly. Absolutely loved it! Hopefully get it down Santa Pod this year see what she can do.

  9. Well after a month of ownership I’ve decided that bought wisely (and with the help of my Forum Friends) these are incredible value for money. Pound for pound smiles I don’t think they can be beaten. I wanted a car that made me want to drive anywhere and everywhere …… not just to get from A to B but to enjoy the experience of getting there. Im one very happy SC430 owner.

  10. I’ve used the Darkside Oil cooler , which is exact same oil cooler as Mishimoto/Setrab/Mocal one , or any other big company’s cooler , it’s seems they all use the same one just rebrand them under their name

  11. Gas filled shocks also have fluid in them. Shock absorbers have had gas over oil for many, many years now. Shock absorbers are not generally made to be repaired or refurbished.

  14. The LC is a relaxing cruiser with enough grip and grunt to have a bit of fun, all the while looking and sounding stunning. If you want engaging, get something lighter with a better power to weight ratio.

  15. Thank you..... I've taken that on board but dobelieve these costs are worth going with Lexus knowing its quality workmanship :-)

  16. If your looking for a fast and engaging car then dont buy a LC, as you have said its a GT not a sports car that weighs close to two tons the only difference between the LC and the Giulia QV is that your loose your licence 1.2 seconds quicker 😀

  17. Agreed. A much better way and one I have never seen before. You learn something new every day. Most of the cars and motorcycles I have tested my way didn't have much in the way of onboard computers and I had no idea that the volt-drop tables existed for these fuses.

  18. I use a small leaf blower (around£25 from Amazon) to give the car a once over after every wash to get rid of water in between doors, mirrors etc. Or go for a short drive and let the natural airflow take care of that.

  19. Why don't you send them one in the post..to make sure. They are very helpful and knowledgeable.Ive bought from them a couple of times.. although it was in person as they are only 7 miles away.

  20. No i don't think those are the ones. Even i tried looking for those but didn't find the exact ones on ebay / amazon. The ones you linked to are the expansion type where when you press it in and it expands to fit. I did install a reversing camera recently and broke a few of the boot lid liner clips and am pretty sure they arent the expanding type. They are friction fit and i endend up using some other generic friction fit push rivets that fit the hole from an assorted bunch of rivets i bought on amazon. The original ones lexus use look like these i.e they are ribbed and hold in place with friction against the ribs. https://vehicleclips.co.uk/products/fir-tree-style-upholstery-trim-clips-toyota-90467-08186

  22. Hi Lisa This is really helpful - many thanks. I have changed my password to having no capitals, logged in in the car, and it seems to have sorted it, although I'll see what happens on a long drive. Really grateful. Why Lexus couldn't tell us all in the first place, could have saved a lot of aggravation.

  24. Drying the car after washing usually is enough to avoid it. Obviously if there is water left in the mirror after washing and slowly drips from there and dries, then it will leave water marks. Rain water shouldn't do this, only ground water which is usually very hard in UK. In short - this is washing technique problem, I just wipe around mirror after washing and usually that is all it needs.

  26. Hi Tom I had a Ford Thames 15cwt van as my first vehicle in 1969. Registration NME208. Nicknamed Brian after the snail in the Magic Roundabout. Wonderful memories. Taught me an awful lot about driving and maintenance and repairs. Bought for £60. Did over 100,000 miles in it including 2 round Europe trips. Sold it nearly 5 years later without an MOT for £45. Happy days!!!

  27. The secret is catching them before they start to rust the slam panel….new nuts would also help. Maybe go stainless steel 👍🏻

  28. Brilliant towcar - often pulling on just electric - very stable with a 'van around 1500kg - unless you are looking at one of the newer wide bodied twin axle jobs, you should have no problem. Just make sure you have enough user payload in the caravan, as this is often the main issue with capacity of both car and caravan load limits.

  31. It will stop them being stolen for spares, as the chop shops will no longer take them in. The police are now getting 87% conviction rate on chop shops found with Identifiable smart water registered stolen parts. It's like leaving DNA at a crime scene lol! If a thief nicks one he's unable to unload it, even just displaying the stickers is often enough to curtail his interest and make him move on. Of course it doesn't prevent joy riders, but that is a minor consideration for most owners. I will be setting about marking mine tomorrow as the kit is already registered to the car. The stickers have been on for a while, next to the Catloc ones. Knowing what I know now, if the PCSO had not gifted me one I would have gone out and bought one myself @ under£60. I'm sure it will be an insurance premium positive, eventually.

  33. That’s serious money, if it’s been reserved for that price for what must be one of the first examples. That’s more than I paid for our 2017 Model with 13k miles back in 2019🙄. It maybe the angle of the photon but the carbon trim above the glovebox doesn’t look right. I wonder if it’s been wrapped.

  34. I agree with you 100% and not the OP, 5 weeks ago I traded in my 2015 39Kmls 1.3ltr Yaris Icon for a 2018 Lexus CT. in my opinion these two cars at at opposite ends of the spectrum, the Yaris was a good clean little Car in fantastic condition but it was like driving around with a pail of loose nuts and bolts lying on the floor it was full of rattles and the music system had to be on low as it caused a lot of vibration to the dash when the low bass notes were played. Doing 70mph in this in 6th gear it would feel like is was in 4th with the revs being well above 3K, often I would inadvertently try and shift this into 5th when it was already in 6th. I'm sure I suffer from PTSD after owning this car, even my friends are telling me I am looking a lot better since getting rid of it? Now the Lexus is a very luxurious car in comparison, very comfortable and quiet, to me it feels like a much larger car than the small hatch that it is, turning up the music to an uncomfortable listening level and there is no adverse vibration with the car. doing 70mph once up to speed the revs drop from 3K to just above 2K unless you hit an incline which then raises it a little. If I was to say anything bad about this that would be that it is a little stiff (good on the corners) and not absorbing going over speed bumps and potholes but not really uncomfortable and not what I would term as being harsh? overall I would suggest this has a very well built interior and not as described by the OP? Having owned a few sturdy well built cars, Volvo 240, 740 and 940 plus an EX Honda Accord I would say this Lexus compares to any of them as far as build quality is concerned and I am very pleased to have it.

  37. Towing capacity is 2000kg. I used to get about 20mpg on a long run towing a 1500kg van.

  38. With the greatest of respect George, I'm afraid that most of that is incorrect. For instance, the car needs a good hour or two to go fully to sleep, not just 10 minutes. Also, pulling fuses can cause other (sometimes seemingly random and unrelated) ECUs/modules to wake up and give false readings. The following video shows the best way of doing a parasitic current draw test:

  39. AC filter replaced, took prob less than 10 minutes. The old filter was really grubby-looking, so was def needing replacement. Thanks for the helpful posts. I'm slowly beginning to get to grips with the car, next job is to replace the reversing light[s] bulbs with LEDs to improve night-time backing up - and maybe the on-screen camera view when doing so.

  40. No you won’t. I’m on Goodyear all season tyres and I get mid 40s. I don’t thing anyone will get 60s in the winter until the UX300h comes and even then it will be pushing it.

  41. Battery has charged up, and I drove the car round the neighbourhood to check everything works. Even the VSC light reset itself. Took a couple of photos in case they're of interest. Battery now on trickle charge. My garage no longer deals with the Yuasa supplier, and would have to replace the battery with a Bosch. Not sure if I'll have to pay. If I do, I'll go for a LPD one instead.

  46. Talking about quality and value for money - This is from a local restaurant in the South of France near where we lived, from their website recently. Includes a quarter litre of GOOD local house wine. You would be lucky to get away with the equivalent of €20 over here and that would not be fresh local food but would include a glass of the most awful mass produced plonk.
