  1. Well, I am sure other members on here will make what they will of what you say. As for me, I am going to take my own advice, relax, and let it go.

  2. Hmm when I passed my test (first time ) you had to do 2 of 3 manoeuvres. I got the two they are going to chop! I don't think the 3 point turn should be removed, it is a vital skill and can be tricky with a road camber and an audience of courier delivery drivers in white vans! I'm not sure about reverse out a parking space really. I usually reverse in so as to avoid having to reverse out when visibility if reduced.

  3. I bought a rubber boot protector from Ebay for about £47 delivered and it fits exactly. Well worth having. Looks like a tidy RX, enjoy! (is that a metallic Polar White?) If, like me, you're a little surprised with poor fuel economy, it 's a bit of an education with these as they deliver the reverse of what you'd expect of a smaller non-hybrid, in that best mileage seems to come from medium speed cross country where the hybrid operates frequently, and around town, and worst from motorway runs and A-road runs, where the speeds mean it's on the petrol engine all the time (or most of it). Get used to that side of things and it'll start to feel like a favourite pair of slippers in no time!

  4. Chris, Dreaming is what it's all about... Mike, it is lovely, I may just sit in it on the drive as it's nicer than my front room...!! Graham and Mark, there seems to be about four different levels of the PCS, mine has the lowest which just uses the front cruise sensor and will brake if it thinks your going to crash, some others have a rear sensor and also forward facing cameras each side of the interior mirror and infrared transmitters in the headlights.

  5. You guys! One with an SC430 lusting after a LS460. One with nice LS430 wanting.....etc.! I guess the LS400 Ser 4 is now becoming a 'classic'? Let alone the older ones.

  6. *sigh* Ok, so apparently this is important since you used a bold font. Shall we take this point by point? John didn't try to convince you, just stated his own opinion on the matter. Also, you may have noticed that he has made no comment on your evidence now that you have produced it. Slightly? I thought I made myself pretty clear. Not true. I don't recall having any direct discussions with John before, but if I thought he was wrong, I would say so just the same. Who said you couldn't have any opinion? My concern was with the specific part I quoted, which I thought was argumentative and unnecessary. So, having said all that, my question is what you hope to achieve by continuing this? I don't mean your original question, just the manner of your responses since. 3 different people on this thread have told you it is not worth getting into a fuss about, so perhaps that should tell you what the people on this forum are like? Maybe we can put this to one side now and carry on discussing what is important to you in this thread?

  7. Yes, and because they are so clever, it is logical that there must be a sensor as well. Just giving a calendar based message doesn't make that much sense. There is a 'gotcha' when you change the filter. When you remove the inside of the glovebox, you may see a plastic flap blocking access to the filter. This is the airflow diverter for the air recirculation feature. Pressing the recirc button (with the ignition 'ON') motors it out of the way. On the US forum, there are stories of people using force and breaking the flap. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have the workshop manual :) There are quite a few differences between LHD/RHD versions and, in small markets, like Holland, the equipment levels are fixed. Here, a sunroof is standard and Lane Keeping Assist is only available on the 600 - at least on the 2007 model. Systems reset on mine consists of pressing the 'INFO' and airco 'AUTO' buttons at the same time for a few seconds until a double beep is heard. What is the small module on the top of your steering column........is that to do with the distance sensors? Mine has only done 70,000 miles so I have no ball joint problems. My local Lexus dealer tells me that they have changed a few but not until cars have done around 180,000 miles. I'm aware that, on the US forum, there are instances of ball joint failure at, only, 40 - 50,000 miles. Of course, the state of the roads has a huge effect. Some cars have wind noise from the front doors; there is a fix for this........ http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-4th-gen-2007-present/506217-instructions-for-the-jmcraney-wind-noise-fix.html I didn't need to do it on mine but, apparently, it works very well. I've had my 460 for almost 5 years and never get tired of driving it :)

  8. Congrats on your new car. I've had mine for nearly two years and it hasn't missed a beat. Goes like the clappers and is very quiet and comfortable. I can get all my bars green from time to time but you attend to find this only really occurs on driving with lots of decents as the car attends to charge up the batteries more. Two bars from the top is fairly typical though unless your driving through slow traffic on battery only when off course it will drop until the engine cuts back in. This time of year with the colder weather and heating on you attend to find the engine wanting to kick in sooner and more often but that's quite normal. as far as mirrors folding, I'm not sure. I have a feeling the are fold only on the manual button but later models may be programmed to do this automatically. I may be wrong. I know a few on the forum have discussed after market solutions which allow this option so it's possible although it's never bothered me enough to consider doing. Just watch yourself on wet bends as it's a big powerful motor and deserves a certain respect or it might bite. enjoy and get some pictures up. carl

  10. Hello everyone. I'm now officially the proud owner of a 2011 IS-F, silver of course 2011 plate, a tad over 19,000 miles and totally stock. It's got the optional wheels on which I love! Terrible weather today, so not had much chance to enjoy it yet. Roll on the summer!!

  11. James, The red one was still there, it had several warning lights on, not a nice colour combo IMHO and in worse condition, it's for sale on ebay for £6,500 at the moment, well it was a couple of days ago, very poor wheels, several areas of damage.... It's been cleaned up well for this latest advert... This Lexus was registered on the V5 under Make as Lexus LS 460 and not just Lexus so a mot/tax check at DVLA shows no trace unless you submit it exactly as it is on the V5 and of course even he didn't sus that out... I went to see it before the auction finished and managed to spot all the issues apart from it's had a replacement n/s door mirror glass and it's not photochromic, it's just a plain one... that's a few hundred quid...!!!

  14. I have seen pictures of the prototype UX and IMO its a bit of a stunner really. Its definitely polarising but nowhere near as rash looking as the concept vehicle and I quite liked it. Seems to be slightly bigger than the CT but its on a raised platform, similiar to the Merc GLA In Australia, Lexus have trademarked the UX200, UX250 and UX250h. The UX200 and UX250 will be 4 pot engines, unlikely to be turbocharged and Im not really sure whether we would get them here in the UK. The UX250h is something new as the moniker hasn't been used yet so that suggests an all new hybrid powertrain. I believe it may have lithium ion batteries and is part of the new hybrid range that Toyota is bringing out. Expect about 150-180hp from it.

  20. The RC-F and GS-F sales are also limited by Lexus themselves. They want to keep it exclusive and hence, only 200 odd GS-F's coming to the UK each year. On a side note, the ES is not coming to the UK. No market for that car here. It was extensively discussed but so far, no plans to bring it here as it would cannibalize sales of the IS or GS. The UX is certainly coming though and replacing the CT.

  21. Looks like there is some finishing work to be done on some of the parts before painting. Is this a surprise?

  22. I don’t think Lexus ever expected to do well with there “F” cars in the UK, it will be the same for the LC 500 and the ( LC-F, which will come. ) They are more for the US market, they don’t even bother advertising the “F” cars, I have never seen a advert, TV commercial or poster for a “F” car, Most people don’t even know they exists, today I pulled up at a set of lights on a dual carriageway, a Audi pulled up next to me, I didn’t even floor it, I was only in normal mode, 2 miles down the road at the next set of lights he pulled up next to me, opened his window and said “ what the hell is that “. Over the past 3 years I have noticed a lot more Lexus cars on the road and apparently there are at least 3 new models coming out including brining the ES from the US to the UK.

  28. You wont notice the difference straight away as its meant to be noticed after prolonged use as its clears away and maintains a clean engine. They spend thousands on research and analysis so must be true otherwise they would be in a lot of trouble. I have always V-Power since the last time I was on a topic about supermarket petrol and that was 2 years ago. My car drives and feels superb almost like a electric car while stationary...Pure silence! - Keep using V-Power, will only cost £1-3 more per fill but worth it.

  29. Wasn't the same true for the IS-F? I remember the final new cars being sold off at a large discount.... I suspect that due to their rarity eventually the GS-F and RC-F will also be appreciated.

  30. I suppose TPMS can be a pain in the arse. Although it would have saved me from needing a new tyre after I didn't realise it was low on air whilst driving on it. As for the sat nav, I didn't comment since I am not sure the system in the GS is the same as my IS. On mine, the update from 2008 to 2016 changed the firmware, which in turn allows the sat nav to be adjusted on the move. Perhaps it is the same on yours? I got my discs from Ebay for about £75 for the Western Europe one only.

  35. Hi Steven, Congrats on your purchase. Id take all reviews with a pinch of salt to be honest. There are plenty of reviews saying the NX rides rough and makes alot of noise when accelerating. IMO it is completely and utterly hogwash and the ride on the NX is better than the German equivalents. The noise is also only apparent if you're regularly doing 0-62mph runs. Now I believe you're probably not one of those people and hence it should be fine. I strongly recommend you watch @HRinacar's review. Its been posted on this forum by the man himself but does give a much more "honest" opinion compared to some of the drivel written by so called motor journalists

  38. Well done 3GT Racing, still one car running at the end, despite everything! Pruett's accident was unfortunate, but isn't that just the trials-and-tribulations of 24 hours racing? There were some quite appalling conditions at times. But lap times looked good throughout, just need to tame that rear end of both cars it seems. 581 laps on car 14 was good mileage, but a bit vexing that Honda completed 634 with their equally débutante NSX... Onwards and upwards Lexus!

  39. A GS300 is possibly....no, definitely the very best car I've ever run in my life. Go for a tidy low miles Mk3 and you'll have change from £6K and a car that will run on for years with good economy compared with an RX, possibly better comfort, certainly better road manners, better performance and more excitement behind the wheel if and when you want to use it. Oh....it ought to be reliable too with the main niggles being limited to exhaust and shock absorber replacements, usually within 80 to 90K miles, sometimes sooner. Besides this, they are genuinely bomb proof and the real gems in the Lexus used line up....imho anyway.

  43. Interesting, had the exact same issue on mine - believe it or not Hob Bright used sparingly on cotton wool and cotton buds for the corners took the film off without marking the screen. Take your time and you'll be pleased with the results. Also keep a wet cloth handy to clean the leather dash if any gets on it, won't harm it but best to remove asap.

  44. Anti-glare coating coming off. Yes, happens on all IS and RC models. Its a very thin coating and will come off with damp microfiber use over time. Not really needed either - I just took the whole thing off with some ammonia free glass cleaner (loaded with IPA) and its not made any difference to glare but it sure does look much much better
