  1. Thanks for the tip!!! I just got one of these - really pleased as I can can Bluetooth connect to it and the car's tel system simultaneously! Ive got it just protruding from the centre arm rest and as this device has 3 buttons. Play, next and prev, it is simple to use Sorted :)

  3. every so often you should apply the parking brake while moving at a slow speed, to clean the shoe and drum. Plus you should use it as often as possible to stop seizing.

  6. I'd suggest disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes and as you say, reseating all the fuses. Check none is blown. There are I think three fuse boxes in my IS300 (so probably the same in the IS200), one in each footwell and one under the bonnet. Sound pretty fundamental if it won't turn over.

  8. Oh wow, I've never done that before. You really are our Godfather of handbrake drivers. I had a sticky front calliper once, I decided to fix it one Saturday morning. All went well and the fix seemed completely. Come Monday morning, early 0430 start. Got in the car, went to move away but no creep forward. Gave it some gas and it moved, then went backwards with gas. At this point I was annoyed that the caliper had stuck again so roared forward and stamped on the brakes repeatedly. Then of course as per topic, realised the handbrake was still on. So glad it was early and nobody saw. Lol 😆

  13. Of course, it depends on how much you end up spending but I think I got a good deal with it being the cheapest 4th gen F-Sport (still is) as it has the pan roof and HUD (both optional extras). To be fair with the MPG, Ive only had the car since 29th June and have not filled up yet but it managed to do 180 miles on that day with only 1/4 tank being used. Yes I agree with you regarding the interior - there seems to be soft touch materials everywhere and the dashboard is lined in leather. Leather itself seems a little bit softer but I don't know how this will lead to in terms of wear. Additionally, I did try the auto high beam yesterday. For the most part it works well but there is the odd occasion where they dont turn off when a car comes around the bend. Therefore, I just left it off at the moment - I usually drive in town and on well lit streets so its unneeded I guess. Yes, Bradford Lexus will get it. You should be able to get the car for £41500 (they give about £500-800) off used cars. Ask for Mo or Lee and they will get the car over to Bradford for you to test drive and take a look around. If at Stockport, talk to Jason Ozanne - I bought my 3RX from him, he's very good! In terms of the Stereo, I can guarantee the equaliser is probably all set to the middle as default. It sounds much better when you tweak it so be sure to do that once you get the vehicle. I went for the F-Sport due to looks and handling. Prefer the more aggressive front end and of course the Rose interior is nice. I also didn't want to lose the Head up display that I had on the 3RX and because of that, I had to step up to F-Sport atleast. Didn't really care for the surround camera and extra gadgets on the Premier and found it a bit too wallowy in terms of handling.

  14. Thank you steve. As I said at the begining of my post, haven't been on here for a while. But I still have the caps I ordered back in 2014 so only have myself to blame. Being a research and development engineer for electric buses, cars and bikes the pcb is no problem. I have cleaned and checked the tracks and all is good. Now replacing the caps. Then when ecu done, post it to france to be fitted and tested on car and if all good, I go back and get it in a few weeks.

  15. Thanks, John. This is what I will get for my £485 https://d3rvezpmgp265q.cloudfront.net/lexusone/lexgben/Lexus-Full-40-60-80-Service-Summary_tcm-3066-418956.pdf Doesn't look like great value for money or anything that any honest, half competent mechanic wouldn't be able to do! I'm struggling to see the advantage of going to the main dealer. With no plan to sell it for at least another 3 years, I think I might just take it to 'Dave' who does the missus' little Fiat!

  19. Thank you Neil E. I shall replace the runflats and buy the spraycan. Then drive it a couple of thousand miles, contrasting with the IS250C's ride and handling, before deciding on the MeisteR coil-overs.

  20. I'm finding my new RX F sport great so far. The bouncing I talked about earlier on the 3RX F Sport was over bumps. I don't think the car bounced physically but provided a sensation of it. This was the same on all 3RXs I've had as loaner over the past few years. The 4RX ride is certainly much smoother and cornering is very flat on the F Sport. It has the same ride in Sport S+ mode as the 3RX F Sport but still rounds off the edges. I've found the throttle response to be better too. I kept my 3RX in Sport mode all the time, the 4RX is the same in normal mode. Sport and Sport s+ are too responsive for town driving IMO. MPG wise, the same as I got in my 3RX over the past week atleast. The engine is certainly smoother and the hybrid system seems more polished. The brakes are less noticeable when switching between regen and mechanical and the hybrid whine when coming to a stop has almost disappeared. Having said that, still getting used to the size. Well it's not actually the size itself but the wheelbase has grown so the turning circle isn't as good. I'm loving the little details like the touch sensitive overhead lights and the sidelights which turn on when going around corners on the same side and both coming on when reversing. Work much better than on other cars as they are actually pointing outwards. I also think the led strips in the handles are nice. Still can't get over the dynamic indicators too and should also mention they've finally made the rear windows go all the way down. That annoyed me so I'm glad they've sorted that. Just a quick video walk around I took a few days ago. Since then, changed the odd number plate screws! Oh and the DRLs aren't on because they only come on when the car is not in Park.

  22. I'll have to ask around about this issue. It's not unknown for dealers to flag up issues which are not really issues and doing them under warranty. They get paid by Lexus UK for doing so. There was actually 1 incident I'm aware of where warranty work was advised to a customer and the part wasn't changed at all. They kept the car for a few days. Got caught as the customer had marked the part so knew about it!

  23. I think you'll find that Profess is a Phoenix situation still in business. However, the Balance sheet of Profess LPG Ltd does not lend itself to confidence. April 2016 being latest. Also did someone say the main man was "away"? I understand to whom you are referring Sorcerer and though he possibly would do a very good job for anyone needing a conversion I can sort of see why he is not getting on to the Forum. He has a propensity to very adequately explain his knowldge of the subject in considerable length which might "take over" the forums main purpose in life which is not purely LPG. When France says iot wants top be petrol and diesel free in the future, surely LPG has a good chance of growth? Do Batteries really not have an impact on the environment in their manufacture the need to charge them with electricity? However the below may come as a suprise to some members. 24. Apologies for the appalling pic, But after a busy day rebuilding the 110 Defender, we finally got to it up late this afternoon, two new front tires and a full MOT and straight to the garage to fill it up, very impressive machine and two very happy new owners and nowhere near as drastic on petrol as i expected, but i did drive it like a girl ;-) Took great delight in emptying everything out of the Range Rover, most of which where tools in case of emergency repairs which are now back in the garage such is my confidence in the reliability I have read so much about on the forum. I think I'm going to enjoy this beast, VERY MUCH !

  25. The first thing that everyone does is to ditch the run-flats. They really do ruin the ride. It's possible to fit a space-saver wheel in the boot and or carry a can of tyre-weld. I haven't seen an SC with 'COMFORT' mode (except perhaps expensive after market air ride) but a popular suspension upgrade is to change to adjustable MeisterR coil-overs. Improves the handling and also the ride quality.

  26. No, the screen is working but the Navi controller on the dash is dead. Ive had it in my local garage and they have checked the fuses and tried resetting it all by disconnecting the battery but its still not working. I think it may need replacing :( and its not covered on my warranty.

  28. It has separate shoes for the parking brake, whereas the majority of cars use the pads or shoes. As long as it passes an MOT I'd leave it alone, I've never replaced or even adjusted any of mine.

  29. Returned the NX and drove the RX. Rayaans was quite right. Its significantly better. I am now waiting for an RX to appear that I can afford. It will have to be a Luxury though as sadly I cant quite stretch to a Premier

  32. Okay, Back from france minus the car. On stripping and checking the ecu, I found 2 capacitors leaking and some pcb track damage. So I have brought the ecu with me to repair, then take it back and fit it. I think maybe there should be some rule, that if any odd problems are experienced, the ecu should be checked first (unless it has already had the capacitors done). I was convinced mine was good and I was wrong. I still don't know if this will cure the problems I am having, but I think it is highly likely. It will be about a month before I can get back and try, but I will post the results.

  33. I would say the RX for sure. It feels a better quality product and compared to other Premium SUVs, comes across to me as somewhat of a bargain. I did have an IS300h Premier as a loan vehicle and I can remember that the ML system was not much different to the standard fit panasonic system in the IS. With the 4RX, the standard fit sound system is very good, equivalent to my 3RX ML system so I doubt you would be disappointed. I think you would get used to not having the BSM but ultimately its your decision to make. The difference in ride between the NX and RX is evident from the beginning and you're guaranteed to be impressed by the 450h drivetrain. The RX is super plush and it shows that Lexus are onto their 4th generation with this one whereas the NX needs a lot more improvement to get to the same level. Does the RX feel £10-15k more? Almost certainly, without a doubt.

  34. Some of them more than others.... BTW @rayaans - it is very informative post (as always from you). It was just not in my capacity to read about something I am not really interested in (SUVs), hence I only picked-up on part where I was mentioned.

  36. Thanks for this excellent review ! Great piece of reading and for me it could even be longer, more detailed. I was given a RX450H as a loaner last tuesday when my IS 300H was in for service and boy did that car make an impression. I was a bit unsecure by the sheer size of the thing, it Is BIG, and even after climbing on board that feeling was still there. The first thing i noticed when looking in the rearview mirror was the backseats, space, emptyness and room you can simply throw everything in there kids, friends, bikes, furniture you name it. I spent the day just driving for drivings sake, not needing to go anywhere, thats how much fun the car was. Yes it feels heavy in corners, floats a little in slow traffic and the steering is without a lot of feedback or feel but that silky smooth 6 combined with a much more powerful electric system than in my IS meant fast and effortless propulsion. This is a car that always goes faster than you think, like you mentioned looking on the speedo and thinking, What?? The buildquality ( much higher than my IS), the practicality and above all the correct drivetrain for this car is just the right combination that makes this a winner for me and continues the Lexus feeling i experienced in my IS 250 and lost a bit in my 300. I am convinced it can turn into a friend of the family hauling everybody around come day or night, protecting all from the bad world outside, whillst at the same time giving lots of driving pleasure. OH that lovely vocal burbling V6 just beat all other 4 pots especially when in dieselform. I am not surprised it sells like hot cakes in the states. Shame it costs 80k Euro in Holland... Hapyy motoring Rayaan, great Choice!!

  38. You could join the pipe with 5mm push to connect fittings (look on eBay) - if you are thinking of cutting it off, get an air line cutter too so you don't cut at an angle. When the strut s off, try and salvage the original pipe into the strut as it has a collar to stop it popping out of the strut. The little clamps (clear, in the picture) are silly money from Toyota, but I'll pop a spare one I have in the post for you if you need it, they only work on the rear struts tho! PM me with your details.

  39. Here's a useful link (whilst it's still working) for the service manual pages to replace the front strut for those interested: http://www.justanswer.com/lexus/7lr7c-lexus-rx-330-trying-change-strut-mounts-realized.html
    1 point
  40. Damn, it's a shame you didn't speak up a week ago as I have 2 front struts here with mounts! I haven't refurbed/stripped them yet but you could have had a top mount (assuming you can remove them from the strut!) for a lot less than a whole new strut! If they are removable, I may see if I can source a replacement to bearing so I have this up my sleeve for the future (or anyone else in your predicament)... Chris.

  41. Yep, it's a heck of a difference Piers, and it is so nice not bottoming out on pot-holes and drain lids again! It cost about £10 a corner/strut to do this, and about 2 hours of time per strut including removing the old one and fitting the refurbed unit. The second hand struts cost me £450 inc. shipping for all 4, in the end! None of the bags on any of the struts (including my nasty looking old one) have holes or look worn (at least externally) - I think my old one failed as the rust killed so much metal at the top of the strut where the bag is joined, that air was gushing out. I will check the old unit for leaks with soapy water to see if my suspicion is confirmed!
