  2. Taking advantage of the dry & light evenings. First car I've put a ceramic coating on & really impressed with how little effort it takes to bring back the gleam.

  3. With the help of mate, installed a quicksilver exhaust this morning. Really simple job and took no time at all. Makes a big difference and my neighbours now have a new alarm clock 👍

  4. Yep, the “orange peel” on this is where from where he has had to heat the wrap to get it to contour into the car. It’s actually very well done. Check his entire YouTube channel. The car was rose gold at one pint, also a wrap. A very useful channel as he has done most popular mods and repairs and videos the lot for our viewing pleasure.

  5. So just picked up my Lexus UX from Glasgow. Black with red leather interior. Lovely looking car and possibly first one in the area from what the sales man said Anyone else collected theirs yet? Looking for some info around a couple of things! Thanks

  6. Just bought myself a secondhand Quicksilver exhaust from a chap called John who had an RCF a while ago. So the mods begin, I've ordered a set of Vossen 10 spoke concave wheels in satin bronze so I may have to keep this car at least 14 months.

  7. So whilst waiting for the service to be done I had little spin in ES, literally a circle around the block so I am not going to go overboard that I know "what the car is like". As the drive-train is nothing to be seen anyway I think that was fair enough - on the motorway I am sure it is fine.... as any other car.. even diesel. By the time you reach 50MPH wind and tire noise going to be louder than any diesel rattle anyway... especially on broken British roads. The area around Woodford is actually quite good for "suspension check" - roads are broken and rough with a lot of speed bumps. That said nothing new - makes some humming noise form hybrid powertrain, I have noticed no difference driving it compared to CT200h, IS300h or RC.. same thing.. don't like any of them. Suspension on bad roads is rather crashy, I would say ~ the same as IS300h, GS is certainly smoother. Again nothing new there, driven it for 1.7 mile... so it would be poor judgement. What I was surprised about was interior... and not in the good way. I came to look at it with prejudice that it will "suck to drive", but it will be very luxurious and nice inside... It does suck to drive... much more due to the sluggish 300h then FWD in this very very limited test... but interior suck as well!!!! Now hold on those stones you about to launch at me for few more seconds. As always I am over-saturating, interior is well built, infotainment suck as in any Lexus, but the screen is big, steering wheel is the same as you would find in any new F-Sport Lexus - thick and soft with a lot of key.. quite good overall. Seats are great, although I felt more at home in RC driving position. However, there are sticking points, which I do not understand, do not appreciate and which are overall problem for me... for example everything inside is made out of plastic, there are no premium materials at all and I am talking here about top of the range "takumi" model. What?! The "aluminium" in inserts are just textured plastic, centre console and windows switches have sort of "wood grain" finish, but again just black plastic. Doesn't feel as cheap as inserts on RC, which were horrible sort of carbon fibre like from kids toys... but still I expected better. I guess it could be argued - the texture plastic is lighter than aluminium or wood... but hey ES not exactly race car. Again, that plastic doesn't creak, nor rattle, it is reasonable quality, but it is PLASTIC. If nor for Lexus badge on the wheel I doubt I would be able to tell whenever it is one of the larger Toyotas like Avalon... In fact no so long ago I had Toyota Auris as a rental and feeling of the console is very similar - sturdy, good quality plastic, but nothing posh.. where in Lexus I exactly expect it to be posh and fancy. Furthermore... entire Lexus range is the same CT, UX, IS, NX and only RX had leather stitched door cards, but centre console still plastic. They had no LS/LC on the floor which I know are better, but I was really puzzled what you get from Lexus over Toyota? Or what you get in ES over say IS Premier which has nice premium detailing. 100% it is step down from GS, feel like a cheaper, car is made from cheaper material, inferior drivetrain... ok you getting extra leg room in the back, but less headroom... so what is the reasoning for anyone to change for this? _____ Edit: It was Actually, F-sport with "Takumi Pack" and not actually "Takumi", still quite disappointing... Lexus call that "Hadori plasti-luminium inlays"... terrible.

  8. Chemical Guys do a fabric protectant which I have successfully used on several cars.

  9. Same tyres as you on my car and mine were changed at 30k miles for rears first time and 40k miles front first time then rears for second time at 60k miles and now done 73k miles so will expect to be doing fronts again at 80k miles - they really do last a lot of miles.

  12. Don't be put off by other opinions, try one first. Lots of delighted LS460 owners out there. People often say stuff about the 430 but it's a brilliant car!

  13. Thanks Olliesgrandad .. I know its only taken me since January (been pretty busy) but I now have a Nav screen which has stopped switching itself around at random thanks to your tip on going into General Settings and switching off the screen reset feature , really appreciated Cheers Gilbert

  15. Yes they do but not hugely prominent. They won't stop your kerbing the wheels when they're parallel to the kerb. But you can mount kerbs at an angle no problem at all

  16. Hello all! Had my GSF for just over a year, only really now getting involved with the whole 'club' aspect of car ownership as I never had the time before! Found a few other random GSF owners on instagram and was directed here! Daily driven for the past year, couple of worthy road trips and about 16k miles later, all I can say is I 'F'-ing love my GS. For anyone heading to Simply Japanese at Beaulieu Motor Museum, hope to catch you there! Kieran

  17. permanent 4 wheel drive systems want all 4 wheels to be the same so there isn't uneven load on the differentials - the wheels should also be periodically rotated to make sure they all wear evenly. Not an issue on a modern Lexus. There really isn't an issue mixing tyres across axles, more important to have the same on each axle. Although vastly different grips levels would make the front and rear handling a bit unpredictable, such as mixing winter and summer tyres - Cross Climates are summer tyres.

  18. I have owned 2 BMW cars and both had reliability issues. My friend had a Lexus and I remember him saying " If you drive from London to Monaco and want to arrive in style, take the BMW. If you want to get back home, take a Lexus.

  20. Yep, perfectly normal. You should also notice that, because hot air rises and cold air falls, the airflow will start with the face vents so that it cools the cabin as it falls. In winter you'll notice the opposite; warm air will come from the footwell first so that it warms the cabin as it rises.

  21. HI all, while having an MOT yesterday at Lexus Glasgow I was asking more questions about drivers seat base, so they had to look into it and said that all they can think off is to change a foam base which would cost £429 incl.labour, not to bad of it will cure the problem, also I already spent £220 on this issue! If they told me from the beginning it will cost £429 I would do it straight away! I also asked Lexus to program the Automatic door look - once the car reaches 15mph, I could not do it through car menu and the dealer could not do it through coding, very weird and disappointing! On a good note the car passed an MOT!

  22. Passed MOT today with no advisories, well apart from 2 front tyres that slightly worn on outer sides but I know about it and thinking to swap them over later this year.

  23. 😀 Ok so a quiet day at the office... Picked up a new air filter and a bottle of Wynn’s lower emission additive. Rang ATS and booked a retest so after fitting the filter and chucking in the fluid to my just over 1/4 full tank I had just under 1.5hours to Italian tune. Damn...M4 has roadworks for miles at the junction nearest the centre. There are some good straights in the business parks and they were deserted so I thrashed about trying to burn as much fuel as possible. Drove in 2nd for a spell, hard accelerating and braking. Do I put some good fuel in now or let the additive work with what’s in the tank...keep as is. Clock ticking and I pull up for the test and let the car idle for 5 minutes and Rev it a bit before switching off. The test started a few minutes after I’d arrived. Result: Pass Take a look at the results (attached) 👍🙂 Now what sort of dumb idea is it to just thrash the car, burn fuel expelling all the rubbish to the atmosphere then run a system that will clog again in traffic? Air filter though will be an annual event from now on. I will use this additive again, I do use Redex once a year...will use premium fuel more often if not all of the time.

  24. I'm not overly worried that my 15 year old RX is going to be stolen. It got security built in, has ultrasonic sensors and doesn't have the advanced keyless entry/start keys. Old skool technology wins! One thing in Lexus's favour is they aren't as prone to theft and parting out/shipping abroad like top end German cars, LandRovers and Land Cruisers. Plus on mine the scabby wheels and the smell of oil from the leaking cam cover gaskets would put most thieves off. :-D

  25. I always ask at the dealerships about when the plug-ins are coming. I believe they know more than they let on, and sometimes they let slip in the want to keep loyal customers intrigued. I was told that they have the plug-in variants ready to go and that they're just waiting for the right time to release them. The Prius Prime was the first market tester for plug-ins, but it hasn't sold well at all so they're holding back for now. Next 3-5 years was also what was hinted at, if they believe the infrastructure is ready. However, this could all be total crap and just a way to keep a customer engaged, but we can live and hope... One thing is for sure, when comparing Lexus now with other luxury brands, they're rapidly falling behind the competition in terms in hybrid technology and infotainment systems (the reviews say it all), and I'm already thinking that unless things change soon, then my current Lexus will sadly be my last.

  27. ST4, I am thinking the same Granted I did think that the ES F-sport looked nice inside and out but that was in January but thinking on, there are things I didn’t like and looked like corners have been cut. Linas P made very valid comments about the quality of the trim. I am interested in the ES with premium pack but that sits perilously close to £40,000 For that money, I expect more and the Camry Excel certainly ticks a few more boxes than the ES saving thousands plus an extra 2 year warranty and the same sole powerplant offering People will say about Lexus quality but I think that has been curtailed somewhat in this offering. The GS I have is better in my opinion but its harsh with how it got killed off. I guess that's the way of the world now with shifts in body shape preferences etc etc.

  29. Mine's on the factory default position (middle) and seems just about right. Maybe it's model dependant? The only time I feel the need to intervene is when it's raining, flicking the headlamps to On. Why don't Lexus have the same system as Mercedes, whereby the dipped headlamps come on if the wipers operate for >20sec? The number of numpties driving around in the torrential rain today without any lights on ....
