hello all, Just wanted to share that I bought my first IS300h F Sport after a long debate with the Mrs if we should keep the RX450h. I've had plenty of Lexus's in the past and after going through all/majority of German brands, I'm sticking to Lexus. I've had numerous IS200 Sports, a IS220d Sport, a couple of IS-F's, GS300h F Sport, still got the RX (for now) and now my first IS300h F Sport.... and I really like it. not as spacious as the RX or GS obviously, but a very nice place to be in, the seats really wrap around you I must say and the chunky steering I've missed, I love the DRL's.3 points

Hi folks, New to the site, have a 1JZ-GTE Soarer with auto trans, was a garden find that had been sitting 11 years!! She was covered in moss top and sides, which seems to have preserved the paint and stopped her from developing any rust. Underneath is also in excellent condition. I bought it as a non start and it was stuck in "P". The guy used it to tow his small 13ft sail boat, so needless to say it has a tow bar. 🤣 I eventually got it out of "P" in his driveway the morning the tow truck came (happy days), got it home and spent 4 hours washing it and it easily needs another hour or two spent on washing. I got a new battery for it, whipped off the timing belt cover to see a new Toyota T/Belt in place, however it has been there 11 years!!!. Once the battery was installed I turned ignition on to reveal a very low lit dash board. I cycled the ignition on and off a few times and with each time the dash started to brighten, a battery stabilization unit was put on and ignition was left on then for a while which seemed to help the electric start to function again. The following day I after leaving it on power for the night I rotated the engine by hand to make sure it wasn't seized then I cranked it over, although it had a very healthy turn over she would not fire (time to get out the multimeters and probes i guess😁). The fuel pump was not working at all, the alternator rectifier was shot and the FPC module was erratic at best. So with that a plan was made to remove and have the alternator reconditioned, a new AEM 380Lph fuel pump was ordered along with new Denso spark plugs, engine oil, oil filter and coolant. Parts arrived Friday just gone, so it was a fun filled weekend with one mission, to get her started!!. I flushed the rad out, which was pretty filthy it must be said, refitted the alternator and also the Denso plugs, then went about installing the new AEM 380lph fuel pump. There was a 1/4 of a tank of old fuel in her, I took some out and set it alight to see how quickly it would ignite. It ignited no problem so put everything back together, filled it up with coolant and cranked it over..... BOOM....1st turn of the key she sprung to life and idled very sweetly for 2 hours without issue. I then turned it off as it was getting late, i decided to make sure she would fire back up again, but when I went to turn it over it would not fire. So quick trip to diagnosis port to bridge "Fp & B+" terminals and then turn ignition on, pump kicked in and she fired up no problem at all. So left it at that as I knew where I was going hunting to find the issue on Sunday morning. Needles to say after some testing as suspected all along the FPC module was also passed its sell by date. So that pretty mucg brings me upto date so far. A new FPC module has been ordered as I like my cars to be right, I know I could bypass it and all that but I would rather it functioned as it should just in case. The list on this girly is going to be BIIIGGG!!!!! as expected for a car sitting outside idle for 11 years. But for now....I'm happy out with the progress 😉1 point

Hi new screen fitted Sunday afternoon , I was pleased as when the fitter arrived he brought a Lexus genuine screen and all the fittings as Autoglass had been unable to source a screen from anyone except a dealer .He was very meticulous and removed and replaced all plastic pop fittings without breaking any .New screen surrounds and clips were neatly fitted and the wiper sweep correctly adjusted. All in all I am very pleased and the finish is like new again Result ! why not go for a tyre that anyone / everyone's heard of ?? they are all ' new ' to me for sure Those four bits of rubber connecting you to the ground will be your lifesaver at some point Malc1 point

Tyres do take a short while to rid themselves of surface release agent and to settle properly on their rims. Always advisable to 'break' them in gently for the first 100 miles or so. Check ,as posted above, wheel bolts are tight. Check also the tyres are fitted the correct way round, if they are directional. What are the pressures like? But if, as you say, they now feel ok and the above checks are all ok, I would just take it easy for a few more miles.1 point

Immediate check - are your wheel nuts all correctly tight? If it doesn't feel right and you don't feel 100% confident then DEFINITELY ask the dealer to check it over and make sure they test it.1 point

No, no video, can video later when home from work, inside car or under bonnet? Never recorded it from under bonnet side, imagine it sounds loud mine also has a S/S cat back system so it’ll sound louder anyway. May have one from rear of car after exhaust was fitted, I’ll see if i can find it1 point

The Lexus Satnav is poor in a number of respects and Toyota/Lexus know this from the criticism of owners. But they just tweek it and will not abandon it for a better system. BMW are the same in respect of persisting with 'run flat tyres', whereas the vast majority of owners dislike them as forums show. One one journey the Lexus took me miles out of my way and I resorted to getting my wife to hold my TomTom (to come to my aid) as I have not yet got round to making a bracket for it. Also, I find that at times there is a plethora of detail leaving only a small section of map showing on the Lexus Satnav which can be distracting when briefly glancing towards the screen. However, I do think on the older models the screen is better placed and shielded than on the fashionable afterthought like set up on the 4th generation and on a lot of other cars. As regards locating the TomTom and this would apply to a Garmin too, I have concluded like another member, that the best place on my 3rd Generation RX 450h would be to the extreme right of the dash.1 point

That you, that would be great. Im sure that you are used to it by now but the sound of the V8 is amazing!1 point

Never liked the idea of PCP and personally wouldn't do it myself. But with the choice of high spec late RCF's drying up in the secondhand market this seems to be the only show in town. As a rule I've always bought my cars when they are 3-5 years from new, so far I have bought many very high price cars for far less than half their original price, some have been so low in mileage they were like a brand new car. I did break my rules with the RCF as the colour, spec etc was exactly what I wanted and being just over a year old with 6000 miles on the clock was still in my mind a bargain price.1 point

i had this rattle / noise on my last 300h , remove the drivers undertray and you will see a metal clip put some self adhesive tape around the metal clip, its a metal clip in a metal hole after a while the original tape / felt must wear and then make this noise.1 point

My 2006 IS 220d has 183,300 miles covered. I have had the car 14 months and covered just over 8,000 of those miles. When bought Ac was dead. Fitted new condenser and replaced one injector seal. Fitted new avon front tyres and last and every MOT always passed with no advisories. All works faultlessly. James.1 point

I had a pal who received a phone call from Land Rover inviting him to a LR experience. They collected him at 7.30 sharp the next morning, dropped him in the nearest lay-by and collected him 8 hours later!!1 point
