  1. No not the LC 😂 i am still saving for one.. Here's what i actually bought: After nearly 3 weeks of searching, it was a close call between this one and the blue 450h for sale in Lexus Nottingham.. 250 won me over with with surprisingly good driving dynamics, conventional 6 speed gearbox as opposed to CVT and i could not overlook the fact, that it was £6k cheaper than the 450.. All in all i am well aware what i bought is inferior to the GS450h, But the 250 has it's own perks and it will serve me until the prices of the LC will come down a bit 😊 GS 250 Luxury spec with ML and cream leather interior. 12 plate, 64k on the clock.

  2. Blown away with the results so for. The leather chap worked all day yesterday and managed to finish the front seats. What do you think?? Centre console and rear seats to go on Thursday. Front seats not bolted down yet. Seat wiring connected to power up the battery for locking.

  3. I spoke to Brian on Monday, what a fantastic bloke, very knowledgeable and helpful. Stripped the top mounts off Monday afternoon, packed them and posted them Tuesday morning from the Isle of Man to his workshop at Orchard Engineering in Gloucestershire. He emailed the invoice, sent me a text once he had recieved the parts on Wednesday, I sent payment once he had seen them to make sure they could be done, and they were back with me, on the Isle of Man by 10:30am today (Thursday). Not only were the new bearings fitted but he had also given them a splash of paint!! So impressed with the speed, price and quality of the job, a real breath of fresh air!! Would highly recommend Orchard Engineering for top mount repairs, I'm still astounded at the 3 days from start to finish... to and from the Isle of Man... we can't even get a phone call back from companies on this Island in that time frame!!!   4. Shes on the road again. One bonnet all ready the correct colour.£100 labour £100 Bonnet catch £20. He has worked on her before and said he always enjoys working on an LS as they are so well screwed together and that makes it easy to work on. I'm a happy man.

  5. I think that's a good call. 3k isn't that much really so I can just leave it parked up and covered. If I sold it for 3k I pretty much know I wouldnt be able to buy one back in that condition at that price!

  6. I am new to Lexus cars and have only put up 1000 miles on our 300 h with 2 drivers,one trying to save and the other just driving .the car has only15,000 miles done and is a 2016 luxury model. we have averaged 44.7 fill to fill.I am very happy with it

  7. Thanks all for the feedback. I don't think I've convinced myself I want to sell it yet! Recently mot'd and not even an advisory which is incredibly for a car this age. I may just keep it as a second car. Use it for long journeys.

  8. Hi All went down yesterday to view & ended up driving it away. Sorry been busy with work forgot to mention it on here. just couldnt resist lol what an amazing car. Only driven it home & parked it straight in the garage. & credit to the last owner for looking after it so well. Im well happy with it. Booked in for a full ceramic coating. Will also be doing a few mods soon. Will post pics up soon. Anyone know of a decent intake & exhaust? Ps. I dont think the blue one will sell so easily considering the price i paid for this & the fact that has a dodgy front end no service history & a terrible garage to deal with. Pic just after i bought it filling up at the pump 🙂

  11. Many thanks. Yes it'll be DIY. I haven't even had the chance to give it the once over and check its not loose/damp or anything. Had 5 minutes in work spare so plugged the OBD in and that came up. Reset and disappeared but came back on when I nipped out at lunch.

  14. I know someone who scrimped on servicing an almost new Ford which if Ford serviced would have had a component replaced as a routine update. The wrecked engine was the result of the local garage not having access to the latest service bulletin from the factory. From the other perspective if I were in a Mercedes it would be serviced by my local indy who I have known for 30 years as he was service manager with MB and then Ferrari and his techs are all time served MB guys.

  16. Its not really my idea. This was a genuine Lexus trim option that Japan were offered from 2014 to 2018. Only difference is. They did more bits to the cabin than mine.

I read all of the above ........ then there's the little niggling things that don't seem to be in a normal ( Lexus ) service schedule that the indy will probably do as a matter of course, like suitably greasing the caliper sliders and the like at appropriate times ....... rather than relying on the punter to have to replace the hugely expensive calipers at some time due to seized pins maybe just a thought Malc

  25. Sorry I thought i'd replied to this but the message mustn't have been sent, doh! I don't think it's bulb holders as they are fine, no corrosion plus they are making perfect contact with the bulbs.It's both sides too which have gone at the same time, so must be a fault elsewhere...Will dig out multimeter as you suggest, cheers

  26. Car started with no problems as soon as I connected the spare battery. I then took it on a twenty miles drive to charge the battery, yes even with a broken leg. I don't have a plaster cast, just nuts, bolts, plates and screws. 🙂 So alls well that ends well.

Sorry but it doesn’t, Lexus will insist on a “health check” first and if they’re happy with the Indy garage and if they’re known to them like “Westfields” they will provide cover, I was offered extended warranty on my recall after they did a “health check” free of charge that I didn’t ask for, car was given 100% clean bill of health, I don’t think Halfords would fall into this category 😂😂

  28. Spent a bit of time reading Pistonheads re performance car servicing and it seems a 50/50 split between dealership and specialist indy garage based on a few threads. A lot of the indy posters prefer invoices etc and don't trust dealership and their stamps. I had a previous Lexus serviced at Lexus and once they quoted me £600 for a new water pump due to a leak, took it to a local garage as it was a common issue and he replaced a pipe for £25 which fixed the problem. Since then I've always been a bit dubious of dealerships.

  29. If I had the choice of a car with full Lexus history and one with specialist history I'd buy the former. Don't forget the extended warranty can still be purchased at up to 10 years old with Lexus history. If for some reason you are not able to keep the vehicle for as long as you think, you may have troubles selling. F cars can take a while to sell anyway and you'd just be adding to the problem. When I had my ISF I knew how much it would cost per annum as I had the fixed cost of the warranty, plus the service cost. A complex and expensive 9 year old car (when it finally gets to that age) will be a much better purchase option with warranty than yours will be.

  30. Thanks for the reply. Yeah I don’t mind the occasional rattle, the rattle from the door is most identifiable when it’s hot, although I can hear it pretty much every drive. I guess my ears have tuned into it. This is the problem I think, because it’s not as noticeable to the engineer unless it’s really hot, it’s difficult to diagnose and I get that. I think the frustration with the Lexus UK engineer is because he didn’t hear it, and he then classed the car is as normal based on one road test with no interaction from me. This has prompted the dealer to tell me they’re no longer interested in fixing it. (They have heard the rattle and I have it on video) My only assumption is that it’s a weak weld or something between the skin of the door, so to rectify it would be a new door, and cost wise could be anything from £2-5k. Probably something the dealer or Lexus don’t see as cost viable. The car has cost a lot, and I feel that I shouldn’t have to accept a sub standard from Lexus so putting up with it isn’t really an option. I have nothing to gain by lying about this problem and really just want it fixed. I guess all I can do now is wait for Lexus Customer Services to get back to my complaint/case. Shame really as I’ll probably jump from the Lexus brand if it’s not resolved purely based on the customer service. The cars are great, and if you have no issues with the car Lexus are great. From my experience being told they’re not doing anything more and offer no explanation, resolution or guidance how to fix it is pretty much hanging their customer out to dry.

  31. So it sounds like they have greased the backs of the pads, where they make contact with the piston and calliper, this normally cures the issue. The face that 50 miles later the noise it back makes me think that your calliper sliders are starting to seize, Toyota/Lexus are notorious for this, even low mileage vehicles. If the slider is seizing then the pad isn't moving away from the disc enough when the brake is released, a slider repair kit is about £15 per side (APEC kits) plus the cost of labour. From experience if your doing one side you may as well do both.
