In case that doesn't work for the OP, I've always just turned on the wipers and then turned off the ignition with the wipers in mid-sweep.

Yes. Although not just me, Toyota are. Or to be more precise, the mechanical brakes are used whenever the braking force requested by the driver exceeds the capacity of the regenerative system - which is anything other than light braking as you can see from the power meter.

You may be able to find a combined DRL and fog light unit for the 400h that are direct replacements for the original fog lights. However, if not, this is the best alternative - switchback LEDs that double as DRL and turn indicator. Sorcerer uses two relays in this one but there is a way of doing it with just one relay, so let me know if you want it and I'll draw out a simple circuit diagram for you. And like he says, don't worry about how it initially looks because I know he made a nice neat job of it later.

Yeah it will do because as you know, the RX300 only has mechanical brakes. It doesn't take long to get used to the regen brakes though. Just anticipate the road ahead and brake gently whenever you can, so as to get the most from the system.

A dramatic title I know ,but how many of you have given a thought to how will the car evolved and life after the gen 4 . I look at so many cars and suvs etc during my day out and about thinking that's looks nice .but my second thought is how reliable is it etc.. I do like the look of the Porsche SUV or Volvo latest models from the outside .Will we be all driving electric soulless cars soon with different badges all with similar battery's and drive trains reliable and simple etc .will most be driverless soon and will most common folk be priced of the road .hell I might as well jump on the local electric powered bus surrounded by hoodie teens glued to there tech device while I dream of the past .Oh to be young again 100 mph felt fast and alive twin 40 webbers induction roar cherry bomb exhausts lol or the smell and noise of a two stroke bike coming on the pipe on a crisp evening out for a blast with your mates as you wind on the throttle with a big grin .And then back to reality with a bump ,your in a showroom with the wife you hear ooh that's a nice blue one love as your soul departs this mortal coil and you mutter to the 15 yr old senior sales person what's the battery range as he smirks at you knowing your wife likes it and that's the deal done you mutter bollocks and sigh .😔

I think like Lexus dealers it depends on who owns the franchise and the individuals that work there. I've not owned a MB for a number of years but when I did the local dealer I used provided a service that was better than my local Lexus dealer ever has.

I really hesitate to ask but there is a very obvious question here. Did they not come with a manual? If not, I expect PCM is right - I'd guess it's a plant cloche.

Not sure what to expect from the RX450h then, as I couldn’t tell the difference in breaking between my 3GS450h, LS430 and 2GS300. No, wait. I’m lying. Brakes on LS430 were so good, couple of times I’ve bitten the steering wheel. Really enjoying this thread David, haven’t driven a hybrid in 4 years, cannot wait. Saturday can’t come soon enough!

Yes. One photo to me shows a poor quality repair. Picture 4 i think. This exhaust needs changing.

I'd say to do the job yourself as its easy enough. If not yourself then ring round garages for quotes.

I don`t have them on my GS, but I like the Volvo inspired idea of being seen by others moments prior to your vehicle being seen if it did not have them. Sadly many manufacturers only wired them to be seen from the front leading to many motorists thinking they had some rear lighting in poor driving conditions. They were never intended to be a substitute for standard vehicle lighting. I always drive with my dipped headlamps on thus ensuring that I can seen both front and rear. So, my answer to your question David, you don`t need them if you use your standard vehicle lighting.

MB Dealerships are worse then lousy Colin and are only interested in Corporate Sales. Their Sales people appear disinterested as a customer approaches and their product knowledge smaller than infinitesimal. The rise in the number MB Indies speaks volumes. Lexus Dealerships-the big boys- need to take care if they are to avoid a similar situation.

in 35yrs of driving i have never come across a set of wipers with 2 park positions i've been to the car and tried it and your correct it does move. many thanks

In the last ten years Mercedes had been getting better, seems they are falling back again. Poor old Nissan, I guess that's what happens when you team up with a French manufacturer.

No. I don't believe your GS can display Google Maps or Waze sat nav, or control Spotify or has voice recognition as capable as Google to change the navigation route, reply to text messages etc. All possible if you have Android Auto.

I purchased mine from a family whose father had passed away and it was his car. They had all the paperwork laid out on a table including the fathers death certificate and she has done me proud having only ever let me down once in 12 years, Oxygen sensor. Apart from general servicing and an LPG conversion she hasn't cost me anymore. Timing belt being done in just over a week. 176000 miles and she still drives and looks like she has not been out of the showroom more than a few weeks.

I state further down that regen braking will stop if the battery gets full - and yes the needle will return to 0 indicating that fact. If you apply braking beyond what the hybrid system can generate then the mechanical brakes work in conjunction with the hybrid braking. The electrical force generated is related to how fast the generator is spinning, due to the electro-magnetic forces at work, so yes if you keep the same pressure applied you will start to see the needle move back towards 0, at which point you can apply a bit more pressure and still be within regen braking. Your last paragraph is incorrect. The mechanical brakes will operate once you max out the regen capabilities of the hybrid system at any speed. If you were to slam on the brakes at 70 mph the relatively small electric motor/generator cannot slow a 2 ton vehicle that quickly, and it is further limited by the batteries because they cannot take the full charge current that the generator could produce. In that situation it is probably 99% mechanically braking that is doing the work. But at even quite low braking requirements you will see the needle max out and the mechanical brakes take up the extra requirement. This is all controlled by the skid control ECU on the 400h: At around 5 mph, the regen braking system is completely disengaged, the mechanical brakes then do all the work. You can sometimes feels that as the timing may not be 100% accurate during the transition and you get either a slight feeling of acceleration (actually less deceleration) or greater deceleration for a split second. It is rare to feel this on the modern generation hybrids but the first and second gen Toyota systems you sometimes can (Prius I and Prius II RX400h, GS450h series II).

Just pumped the tyres up - only the offside front and rear were in the wrong position in the app which is easily sorted. The chap over the road who was washing his car kept checking on what I was doing. "Pumping tyres up? On a mobile...?"

True the boot is small but with a little care and planning you can manage. I have just one car so it has to go to the tip as well as shopping and on holiday. I routinely go away with the car full: me driving, wife who loves clutter round her feet even when the boot and back seats are empty, in front seat, dog in her hammock 40% of rear seat, two kit bags with our clothes on remaining 60%, cat in travelling cage strapped on top of kit bags, dog and cat food etc. in one rear foot well, lunch on transmission tunnel, asst cameras computers etc. in other rear foot well, couple of anoraks jammed round the cat basket for easy access. In the boot we have collection of DIY building stuff including power tools and cans of paint, walking boots, food for a week including an insulated bag of frozen stuff, a few bottles of wine, and other stuff to fill it completely. Fortunately I have never had a puncture. The cat has now died giving a little more room. I will see 36mpg or better on the way to S Wales via A roads and on the way back using M4 and A34 I have seen 45.8 mpg from M4 J 18 to home. My children have long gone or I would not be able to manage. John

Also had gs450h since early this year. Averages about 36mpg mixed driving. I find I drive it to max the mpg now, knowing it can do the business if need be. Just wants to be driven lazily.

Hi I have driven a gs450h since January and approx 2500 miles, mostly locally. In winter I got around 20mpg and summer around 24 odd. The back is way bigger than the is250 as I have driven that a few miles, so for me the is250 is not an option with child seats ruining it for other passengers. The mpg is similar. The sound as lexis200 sport is nice in the 250 due to actual gears as opposed to the cvt in the gs. The the gs is quite good ina a straight line and feels much faster than the is, and the sound is still nice. One big thing for me on the gs is the hybrid. Its nice to sit quietly in traffic with the engine off so frequently, it's like an amazing stop-start system. The torque fill is really good with the electric motors as well. It does feel really really heavy though, and also the ride isn't amazing with the 18 inch alloys. Hope that helps

Also a massive thumbs up for camskill, used them for my PS4's, great service and prices. Have you looked at what Michelin recommends online? I think last time I looked it was Alpin? I had trouble getting my tyre sizes and camskill were only one to have both front and rear available! Be interested in what you go for 🙂
