  1. That’s all very respectable, not sure what other makes of 16 year old sports coupe would make it to southern Spain 👍🏻👍🏻

  3. Dont underestimate the power of food. Connoisseurs of risotto likewise paella are to be found in every region and all claim their way of cooking is the original best and forget about the rest. This runs deep. Remember Jamie Oliver some years ago? He published his Paella recipe and the highest diplomatic circles were working overtime to prevent Spain from declaring war!

  4. Anything except Paella again, it’s the Spanish equivalent of a bag of chips, every mouthful tastes the same, you always get to much and you end up leaving some

  5. There are so many "things" under the bonnet other than the engine so it could be one of these "things" making a normal noise. When parked up you could try starting the engine and open the bonnet and try to locate the noise. As I said, it is probably a "normal" noise.

  6. Congratulations. I'm sure you wont regret it. With regards to insurance, don't disregard trying Lexus Motor Insurance. Despite some owners on here being quoted quite astronomical figures by them, I personally have found them to be quite competitive (both on my previous 2018 NX and my current 2022 model). They offer repairs by Lexus approved body-shops using genuine Lexus parts. Also don't forget that the true value of an insurance company, regardless of cost or other factors, only comes to light when you need to make a claim.

  8. Also, be aware that you are likely to get a call from your local Lexus dealership, Everytime I've got a settlement figure online, a friendly salesman has been in touch the next day asking if I'm thinking of changing the car!!

  10. Wow that’s a great project result, just need a heat seeking automatic scatter gun mounted on the boot lid in case the barstools return again! Given the amount of grief they have caused you I would consider that “reasonable force”

  11. Well all, for better or worse I've almost completed the Rear Screen. I have no room for any Chrome but the beading of butyl is yt to be added and the boot end has to adhere to the platic rail. Before obvious critisism of the work in my defence I've laid awake for almost two months of incessant rain and dry and its been difficult to make progress. Couple this with the fact that I have advanced prostate Cancer, Lymphodeama , DVT and Bilateral Nephrostomys to my kidneys and you will understand wht I'v had to go through becuase of spiteful youths. Its wonky I know. The frivoulous fringe at the bottom is because I cut the material too short but couldnt start all over againand was too lazy to cut it off. Gives it a feminine feel! . I put the wrong side outer and not the rain proof side which meant I had to melt some silicone with white spirit and brush it all over to ensure rain runs off. I have yet to also stick it down to the plastic rail that crosses the boot. I've today glued it to the Cork and need wait 24 hours before finishing. The only Cabrio LS400 in existence?

  14. haven't tried Halfords for pens but ton the two occasions I tried their shake cans for two other makes they were well out and I returned them. I went to the official dealers and the match was much better and I got the appropriate lacquer with it. So I would pay a little more and possibly get a better match or get somebody like chips away to do the job if you don't want to pay for a good body shop to do it.

  15. Hi That looks great in the Platinum. I’ve just taken delivery of a deep blue one with the darker leather, pan roof and protection package (needed the liner as we have a dog). I test drove the NX and RX before opting for the RX because it had more room but also felt more planted if you know what I mean. Both felt like great cars. Got it on Friday with a similar Red Bow unveil from Lexus. It’s my first ever Lexus after 15 years with an old shape XC90. I’ve feel like I’ve been propelled into the future with the array of tech. I didn’t even have DAB radio or Sat Nav before!! I’ve worked out how to reduce some of the over zealous warning beeps by lowering the settings but am trying to balance the value they provide with the distraction levels. Like you Xez, I mute the traffic sign alert but keep the visual. Really impressed so far. Incredibly quiet though I’ve only been on electric so far as only local trips. Range saying 38.7 on a full charge initially. Does that improve after a few weeks as I think you’ve suggested 40+ above? Look forward to your updates and any tips. David

  20. The CCTV is up and running not that I've figured out the settings. Awoke the other night around 1am and heard this beeping and as I don't take my mobile to bed had to go downstairs to get it and see what the devil was happening outside with this light/alarm system. Turn the Bl**dy thing off was my immediate thoughts but then it started making a consistent bleeping sound. Turned out to be one of the House smoke Alarms saying battery too low. Different noise than usual. So steps again downstaris and me in my PJ's carrying my night bags had to get the blighter down. Photo shows good clear image but I havent got it on "motion detection as Cats are always walking past the House and don't want this phone in our bedroom squaking every time a feline passes.. Signage up to conform to rules not that Hoodies with their faces covered are likely to see it. (I'll bear in mind the 80mph 130kph speed limit to abide by should I ever go to France again. )

  21. @stepppy it definitely last longer than 1 second, for instance it happened at least after 2 minutes after turning the engine on and having driven up the garage ramp. Maybe has this something to do with the imho excessive S4 heating cycle of the engine? I recently tried a Corolla 1.8 a friend of mine bought and his cold start heating cycle lasted maybe 1-2 minutes in total then the engine turned off, just like my previous UX did with its 2.0 engine, but unlike my current NX which has a way lot longer cycle, it lasts several minutes and never understood why it took so long. Well, as soon as I have an audio record I will update.

  22. Cabin Pressure ……. just drive at under 80mph most of the time ( unless you’re aiming for those vandals ), open the occasional window / sun roof ……. ban smoking and eat more bikkies in the limo …… then the worry about that elusive Cabin Pressure will vanish ……. believe it or not, you’re NOT a Concorde pilot even tho’ hopefully the champagne occasionally flows for you and yours …….. it will should I come to visit 🤣 Hope you’ve got those Cctv things up to identify anymore little shi..tes causing you grief 🤔 Best wishes Malc

  23. You’re quite right Renato. I confused it with risotto for the sake of a joke! 🙁 Paella - like the best martinis - should be shaken, not stirred. So what I invariably end up occasionally making is a risotto. Primarily because I don’t have the right paella rice or - more significantly - a paella pan. The latter omission is due to MrsT’s forceful observation that at our age one thing we don’t need is a new pan in the kitchen that’ll be used once and end up in the back of a cupboard!😡

  24. Hi, thanks for the replies. Can’t say 100% whether the ICE was running due to the startle effect of the shaking but I would say it was on as I don’t remember seeing the EV lcoming up. The shaking started at a speed where the car normally transitions to EV (when all conditions are met) but so far it was only when slowing down from highway speeds with the ICE idling and super light braking. When the battery is full I know the ICE is not being shutdown to protect the battery. It’s dawning on me that when slowing down from high speeds with light braking the rate of charge is so high that it goes into protection mode (full battery) at the same time it was sending the signal to shut the ICE down. With the dirty throttle body does this happen all the time or is it also random? thanks!

  25. All you need to do now is have the rear door windows tinted and hang an Eau de Cannabis air freshener from the interior mirror, just like mine😀

  26. A little more info. The Window is exact in its measurements from the top but may seem out because the Car is on a slightly raised area drivers side. However, I cocked up the centrepoint at the top by thinking that I could put a straight edge on the boot centre point (which I'd marked before the Chrome strip was removed) and then with a Spirit level get the top accurate. Big mistake, and should have done what I did before the fitting, put a string across the two top points and measure. Am about two inches out from centre - doh! I sound proofed the Car by gluing 1/8th Cork Sheeting about 70% to the inner area. Will today glue the Staithes(?) to the Sheeting. In due course I did plan to put plastic rivets at five inch intervals all round - similat to the sort used to fix Boot linings. Not sure if I'll do that or just put inch galvanised nails in to give extra strength against the internal pressure when the door gets closed. Not clear to me how this pressure gets dissipated. Understand that closing the boot uses the two vents in the sidewalls, but the Cabin????

  27. No - it’s audio only via the car and infotainment screen (Android auto treats it as a phone call essentially). You’d have to mount your phone and use its screen to see video, but note it’s illegal to have moving pictures (ie Teams video!) within eyeline of a car driver while vehicle is being driven.

  29. Yes, Eagles and buzzards are quite partial to a bit of roadkill. I saw an eagle ( I think, because it had about a six foot plus wingspan ) trying to pull a dead deer apart at the side of a road in S France.

  32. Yes. Lexus is just Toyota finance: https://www.toyota.co.uk/personal-finance/my-finance you’ll need your agreement number and the email address used during purchase. there is the option to generate a settlement figure and letter. Note settlement figure will be very different to the outstanding balance shown.

  33. Amazingly I too saw, on that trip, a huge eagle, about human size it seemed, on the edge of the road almost next to me, as me in my 95 Ls400 was coming up the mountain road, round the bend, quite quiet of course, then just then, the eagle opened its enormous wing span and flew off down into the mountains ......... wish I could have taken a photo but I was both hands steering up that treacherous mountain pass ...... somewhere in Spain that day I shall NEVER forget that event ! 34. Yeah, they’re almost flush on stock suspension. You’d need +25 front and back to be flush on stock wheels and suspension, so you’ll be fine 🙂 don’t have any pics of them on stock car I don’t think

  38. We’ll be finishing off the Chicken Noodle, Lemon Grass broth that I made yesterday, with its added carrots, red pepper, red chillies, ginger, star anise, celery, leeks, pak choi, spring onions, mushrooms, garlic and soy sauce….. before it combusts spontaneously.

  39. It depends. If there is an option for an underfloor spacesaver and to do it properly it requires the side panels to be charged, then there’s quite a lot of work involved and with the parts, £2k isn’t unreasonable. However, if you’re happy with it just placed under the existing floor it could be done a lot cheaper.

  42. I just recently completed making the external door handles LED lit and thought i'd share on here. It's linked to the puddle lights but stays on for a further 35 seconds or so after the puddle lights go out because i've linked it to my unlock/approach light mod. Below are some pics of the project and a photo of how it looks on the car at night. This mod was super cheap only a few pounds in materials but most of the work is in the labour which is time consuming.

  43. Hi, Attempted to steal my nx300h 68 plate last night, neighbour got woken up and called police, Alarm went off and by the time I clocked on from deep sleep I didn't see any1 near the car or running away. Alarm stopped by the time I went to get the keys. I saw that the mirrors were open so I thought maybe car unlocked, I didn't attempt to lock the car. I watched to see if anything will happen, within a min police drove by, then within another min another one came and pulled up next to my car, then the other came back again. When police man opened the car the alarm went off again, Initially I thought some1 collided on passenger side as I park on the road, only after the police ran their dog they came and talked to me, told me it's the canbus attempt to steal. I'm at the dealers now I don't want to go insurance unless it's costly to repair the front arch. They've taken quite a bit off and broken bits Hybrid and headlight offline I had a hard time insuring it last year, I should've looked into why. Ended up paying so much for insurance.

  44. Tut-tut, Len. Paella should never be stirred but, as any (pedantic) valenciano will tell you, merely shaken using the paellera’s side-handles.
