  2. Right video has just finished uploading. Here it is: First three clips are with the valve open. The last is a poorly executed valve closed comparison (bloody traffic!). I think the best way to describe the sound is at low revs it sounds like a proper V8 and the when the intake opens up, the exhaust perfectly compliments the noise level. Not letting the intake dominant too much. If anyone is tempted by one of these. I do have a spare kit....

  3. @Wellsey Ricky since the exhaust went on mine it’s plummeted in mpg....... I can’t help myself......it’s a drug........I need help........I’ve contacted exhaust anonymous....😂 🐀

  4. It’ll take some going on the ISF, this is what I got on a “spirited” drive on my last one - My Evo X on the other hand....

  5. Here’s mine. It’s s 2002 Honda HR-V. Done just over 74k miles, and was a bargain in my opinion at £700. Has very basic 4WD, and is a reliable 1600cc 5-speed manual. Does Kent to Essex every other weekend when I have my son. Good on fuel, and should help me to keep the IS-F for fair weather use or shows/special occasions. It’s surprisingly spacious, and good for the dogs, tip runs and large items. I also enjoy the fact 80mph is possible, but takes a good while to achieve! Makes my time in the F feel like warp speed! Lol.

  6. Hi all, new to this forum. Just wondering if anyone has any advice. I have an old is300 estate, 2002. There are some rust bubbles on the bonnet, and I haven't got a clue how to tackle this - how would you go about it !? new (aftermarket) bonnet / scrap yard / bodyshop...

  7. Remaps that are properly setup on a rolling road to account for individual engine manufacturing tolerances do improve economy, performance, and responsiveness however the gains aren't that great and quite difficult on perform on Toyota ECUs because you cannot reprogrammed the map directly - you have to use a piggyback system to fool the ECU or modify its outputs. Trying to gain additional economy is difficult if you want to retain catalytic convertors - they need the air/fuel ratio to be very specific, if you deviate from that they don't work. Much better economy could be achieved without them, however the health benefits mean they will remain in all new combustion engined vehicles.

  8. Very nice. Looks a bit like mine only a bit more subtle in black 👍

  9. I saw that one when I was looking for mine, perhaps a bit over priced as mine was the same price with 79,000 less miles. Having said that, if it’s had a new hybrid battery etc in that mileage it might not be bad but you would’ve thought they’d mention that if it had.

  10. Cheers bud. It's louder inside the car without being intrusive. Sat at 70/80 mph it is same as stock. Some slight drone if you are driving around in manual mode with a high gear selected at slow speed and put your foot flat down. In reality you would be in auto and car would shift you to correct gear or you would have correct gear for speed you are travelling at anyhow so any drone is self inflicted (if that makes sense) Makes some nice burbles and pops when letting off throttle which I like. Nothing like an F Type though. Turns more heads than before. My wife says she can hear me 5 miles away now rather than 4 miles away 😉 As mentioned before. It makes car more enjoyable to drive at normal speeds without having intake open. BUT... I also have a Takeda intake installed. You can't hear the intake below 3600rpm but when it does open.... SMILES :-)

  15. My ISF was my daily driver - After the ISF this was my daily driver - That was then followed by this little Italian number - 6 months of using it as a daily I sort of lost the plot and switched to this - Hopefully by this time next week I’ll be in an ISF again. I’ve never been able to run a regular car alongside a fun one. It’s always been all (as you can see in the first 3 pics above) or nothing (like the last pic).

  16. Still not got out in the car yet as spent most the weekend in the garden drinking beer and burning sausages. But... here is the one I did a few days ago. Apologies for sound of an A380 in the background.

  17. So after doing a bit of research on this forum and over at ClubLexus. I finally decided that an exhaust cutout was the way to go for myself to scratch that noise itch. After having delay, after delay getting a cutout imported from America (ordered in Jan, finally received one this month). I got the lads over at SRD Tuning in West Sussex to fit it today and wow what a difference! As Pete has vouched before, their work is fantastic and would highly recommend them with any custom work on our cars. It's so nice actually hearing that engine below 3600!! Few pics attached of the job they did:

  18. Hi Guys, I am looking to buy Lexus IS F. I am from St Helens. Around 6 years ago I've been driving SC430 for about two weeks and I loved it. Last 12 years Volvo user (S60 and V70 - barn on wheels). I've been gathering info about IS F couple weeks and decided that this car may be my next daily driver. I know that some of you thinks about swapping IS F for something else. I am looking for someone who would be so kind and give me a short test drive (me as a passenger). One of the cars whose I am considering to buy is from Gloucestershire. I would like to avoid so long trip if my imaginations about the car are misleading. Anyone who is closer to me and willing give me a ride please advice. May cover petrol expenses if that will be required. 🙂 P.S. I am off work only this weekend if that matters. Thanks

  19. Hi, Hehehe... I read your post around 2 hours after my first post and something was telling me that I missed the opportunity. I am happy that you pulled the trigger and bought it. All upgdrades make it very good deal. I wanted to see Rays car but due to work and family commitment couldn't do that in past two weeks. I will keep looking. Thanks for letting me know. Tom

  20. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news Tom. All being well I should be the owner of Ray’s car by this time tomorrow. Heading down from Leeds in the afternoon. I wasn’t even planning on buying an ISF, the plan was to get an E46 M3 but then I spotted his ad on Pistonheads and I regret selling my last one.

  21. Well i've stopped thinking about alternatives since i had the 430 lol!

  22. Yes Not sure if some of the issues are 400h related to the extra weight causing stress on seams but I've seen reports of two or three different sources of water ingress on the petrol models. There just weren't may RX300/RX350s sold in the UK compared to the 400h so the majority of reports are for the hybrid model.

  28. That sounds lovely! Whats it like inside the car compared to standard?

  29. Was too busy playing last night to get the chance. I might go tunnel hunting later today though! Yeah the guys at SRD couldn't believe I had it for nearly 10 months sounding standard! I actually think this might save me a bit of fuel in the long run also. I only ever gunned it above 3600 most of the time just to hear the V8 noise. This way I hear it all the time! Well, when the valve is open at least.

  30. I didn't touch any cogs at all. All I did was bring my wheelie bin round to the front of the car, mark where the brightest part of the beam was positioned and then adjusted the bolt to raise the beam about an inch higher than my mark. Steve.

  31. Not sure if this is relevant or related but I had a situation where I couldn't seem to stop smoothly and at low speeds it felt as if the brakes were juddering or the abs was kicking in. Thanks to the suggestion of another member on here I did a couple of heavy braking from high speed which solved the problem.

  32. On my IS I was told that a new passenger seat would cost about £5000 had they not managed to fix it. Hate to think what the cost of my GS seat would be.! Even though Lexus has a wonderful reputation for reliability, things can fail or go wrong. Peace of mind helps me knowing I'm not going to be hit with a sudden high cost which I may not be able to afford. Had to scrap a perfectly decent Volvo once because the repair to the Aircon system was more than the car was worth. My experience with Lexus warranty with my old IS was amazing. They never queried any claim which differs from my experience with car and house insurances. Each to their own but I guess it depends on how much of a gambler one is.

  33. Cost of parts that are dealer specific are hugely expensive. My recent under warranty claims (gen 4 RX) with cost based on dealer quoted prices for parts only Drivers door panel ~£2500, actually unecesary replacement that did not cure the vibrating rattle. I fixed myself with velcro tape between the quarter light/window metal slide chanel and top of door panel and redone by the dealer Passenger and drivers seat bases with motors £2500 each, replaced due to juddering and very noisy movement Drivers seat cushion £2000 replaced as colour bleeding out No way I am risking not buying an extended warranty when the time comes

  34. That's a very fair point you make John. Also your subsequent point about the condenser. However, our vehicles are very sophisticated bits of kit and £1,000 buys you little at a Lexus dealer if something goes wrong. One of my previous claims on my IS250 was for a £700+ headlamp assembly because it was fogging with condensation. That's not even a fault associated with sophisticated bits of kit !! Peace of mind suits me thank you.

  37. ARB bushes are usually split so they can be slid over the bar with a little effort. Which saves then you disconnecting the drop links. Let me check your links... That rear eBay link does look like one piece tho. I'd double check part numbers with a parts website like www.jp-carparts.com, etc. They have neat diagrams and part numbers you can then use to search for parts. Also check workshop-manuals.com to see how they recommend to change ARB bushes.

  38. Am I the only one to be astonished by this list of weak spots for an 11 or 12 year old car? Callipers - avoid by regular servicing with proper lubricants. Don't know why it is not a service item. Exhaust - I don't know what is reasonable. My A35 van had a new exhaust every 367 days. Shock absorbers - agreed could be better component and preferably from more than one source. Creaking dash - some car owners would love a car quiet enough to hear a creak. I understand draught-excluder stuffed down gap fixes it. Headlight bulb - new bulbs after 11 years unreasonable? They have probably lost output even if they haven't failed. Rust - covered by warranty? TPMS - units failed or just need new batteries? See Bitprius thread on how to do it. Hybrid - everybody seems to worry at first but the reality is that failures are rare and as above Richard will fix problems. Could any other manufacturer match the brevity of this list? John

  39. Update: I went through the SD Card image (9.5GB+) that @wakhtar sent me and found the update files. I have successfully updated my premium headunit from VD12104A to VD12104B. Method and link to files below: **I take no responsibility for incorrect procedure by users, all I can say it that it worked perfectly for me** Download new firmware here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OhHhsIDeF2J1PPLCUyl38O9dRXuu-XkN/view?usp=sharing Format USB drive to FAT32 and extract files from .zip to the root of the USB (there should be no other files/folders on the USB drive other than "LOADING.KWI" & "HASHLIST.DAT") Start car & enter "Service Mode" by holding the menu button and turning on & off the lights 3 times. Select Service Information Select Program Update Insert USB and the OK button should light up. Follow steps on-screen (whole process took about 10 mins max for me) Credit: @pobrown for sharing update method & @wakhtar for sharing original 9.5GB+ SD image. Report back with success.

  46. M4 is rapid (as we all know). However, on a public road, M4 v RCF / GSF, I can’t see there being a winner (other than the law). Given your average driver, in the wet, I honestly don’t think an M4 would know which way an RCF / GSF went. I’m not a capable driver, but what impressed me most about the RCF was the wet weather handling. Never once did my car (unexpectedly) break traction. I was told by another driver that TVD does allow some tail happy behaviour in the wet. ISF / GSF / RCF straight line performance, not much in it (as you would expect).
