  1. After nearly 12 extremely happy, exciting, reliable and fulfilling years with my trusty IS250 SE-L, "that" day finally came today. With a heavy heart, I traded her in for an IS300h F Sport at Lexus Leicester. I had the exact same "I have to have this car" feeling when I got into the F Sport as I did when I got into my IS250 all those years ago. I'll miss her. I'll miss the roar she makes when I push her loud pedal to the floor. I'll miss the smile which is always on my face when I lock her after we have been on a long journey together. She's been a faithful friend over the past 121,500 miles. We've had many adventures together. She's saved my life on more than one occasion. She was Vmaxed on the A1M after my wife had a serious accident at work and I needed to get to her in a hurry, and she didn't bat a headlamp washer. She has been victorious in many battles with German opposition over the years. She is probably the only IS to have transported an HP A0 plotter from Runcorn to Dewsbury. To friends and colleagues, she was known as "The Car With All The Buttons". I hope she's not scrapped but finds someone who'll enjoy her for a year or two more. She's barely run in. Now the wait until Tuesday when I can collect the F Sport home begins.

  5. This might be of interest to you "Lexus Structural Blue, paint code 8Y0 is a standard basecoat/clearcoat system. This amazing color looks like it might be difficult to repair, but actually, it's very simple. Follow this recommended procedure from PPG to perform a small spot repair on this color. Structural Blue was developed by Lexus and VIAVI Solutions Inc. It’s based on the coloration of the vibrant morpho butterfly, a species found in Central and South America. The butterfly appears blue in color but does not actually have blue scales in its wing surfaces. The blue color — which varies depending on the ambient light — is achieved through light interference. PPG has introduced a training video to assist paint technicians with refinishing Lexus automobiles sporting the OEM’s Structural Blue finish. The video has been produced to dispel the notion that complex colors require a complex refinish process. In fact, it's not difficult at all." I was quoted £1100 to repair a simple stone chip on my Sonic Red painted bonnet..

  6. Hello - I don't know if this is of any help to anyone but I have found a cheap fix to my noisy/vibrating fan on my 2011 CT200H SE-L The number on the original fan is stamped on the bottom of it 272600-0456 and as any body that has tried to get one of these will know - they are a mortgage payment to buy. Even second hand, if you can actually find one they are over £200. Now I got to thinking that Denso aren't daft so where possible they will want to make one part to fit multiple vehicles so after a bit of digging I decided to buy a fan from eBay for an is220 number 272600-0322. When it arrived there were subtle differences but I only wanted the motor part. I removed my fan, trim above the passengers feet off, 3 screws and a multi plug and the fan is out. The circuit board is under a plastic cover, 4 screws then a couple on the board itself and that lifts off ( bit of sealer on one end but no issue ). Then 3 screws for the motor. The plastic fan impellor is slightly bigger so needs swapping - just bend the little tag up and hammer the motor spindle out. and there you have it - an identical motor. rebuild is just the opposite if dismantle, nothing exciting. All done, back in and working is 30 mins - and the cost £22. Only tools were 8mm socket to get it out, screw driver, hammer and a bolt to use as a punch. Lots of motors are available at cheap prices. Wish I had done it months ago.

  9. Hi Phil I have just discovered a bug in the software. Seems the groups are not changing and you were in the wrong group. I have sorted your account and will update the latest software to see if it fixes the bug.

  10. I presume you also like to go back to living in caves and hunting for your own food ;). According to my car its -1 currently, yet I cannot remember last time I had to go out in the cold to scrape the windscreen. As for security, feel free to go and download the Tesla App on your phone and see how far you get trying to steal one. Tesla have been using this App since 2012, the cheapest Model 3 in the UK is £42k with a Ludicrous X costing £120k, if you can hack the App you have found your self a money maker, so go for it :). As for battery dying, its an electric car, I've long learnt how to manage battery life on all kinds of products. Oh and what happens if you loss your key, how do you get into your car? I can just borrow anyones phone and be driving again in minutes :). If you find the phone App such a hard concept to get, wait till smart summon is allowed in the UK....... But its all good, because the chance of Lexus been able to implement such tech in the next IS really is 0%, so if you want to be stuck using 1980s UI Lexus has you covered!

  11. It’s various suspension bushes, joints, pins, front discs etc so worth checking. I’d do it before purchase as there may be reference in the service history to show the work has been done. I suspect it has as the most recent MOT shows no advisories, but I’d want to be sure.

  12. Quite a few advisories on the previous MOT (Jan 19), so may be worth checking they were addressed as the current MOT shows no advisories

  13. It's not the costs that worry me. I knew that "structural blue" was rediculously expensive when I found out that it was 14,000 pounds more than the standard version (when I bought it, it was unclear that it would have some of the sport plus features). It's the way my dealer and Lexus handle it.

  14. It turns out the the sonic boom heard this morning over London was in fact 2 RAF Tornados intercepting another aircraft with communication problems, it was not as previously thought Bradley in Tyne and Wear welding next to an LPG tank. 😀 Good work Bradley, regarding the thumping noises I would consider replacing both engine mounts if worn ( easy to check just rev the engine by pulling the throttle cable in the engine bay and see if the engine rocks). Check the transmission mounts and the diff mounts.

  15. I think the 'problem' is with the OP's dealership not Lexus per se. Structural Blue is clearly easily repaired as per the video (in fact it's an easier respray than the 4 layer Sonic red, Ultrasonic blue/ Naples yellow and Sonic titanium). Sourcing the paint shouldn't be an issue either. Obviously not common as so few cars out there with this colour but should be an issue IMHO. Try a different dealership, or as suggested above, contact Lexus UK directly

  16. The NX is not the answer to all prayers but it is a very good motor, particularly for me here in East Anglia. It cruises very quietly at 60 on A roads, it rides and road holds quite nicely on B roads and cycle lanes and is no bother in the city. Fitting some Michelin Cross Climates made a big difference. To be fair I do very little routine M-way driving nowadays but when I do, the only time I notice the scream is when joining the motorway. Once at cruising speed it is very quiet. On an A road it is the same, only severe right clog causes excessive noise and I find in this motor I rarely need to do that anyway. I am average size but I do agree there is insufficient adjustment on the seat and steering wheel to find an ideal position. If it was a manual car and I had to operate a clutch it would be deal breaker but I can manage with the CVT. The seat itself is comfy enough though it shares an annoying Lexus trait of a hard cross piece right at the base of the spine. It is not quite as prominent as it was in my CT but it is disappointingly still there. More padding needed on the seat or my backside. On credit side it is very easy to enter and exit which for me is a big plus point. we all comment on the infotainment. It is poor but I’ve learnt to live with it. A big playlist on the iPod works well and I just leave it to play, it is a pain though that you have to re-select the iPod if the car stands for more than a few hours. You need a magnifier to read the map as well. You would think somebody at Lexus would have realised a bigger screen is useless if you still have miniscule text on the map. Overall it does about 42 mpg and is dead easy to drive. Just as well as it is a tight squeeze in the garage.

  17. Something does not add up, does it. If you drive a Pagani you know servicing needs to be done in the works in Italy. But that is a handbuild supercar. The LC is unique in its own way but built by the Toyota Motor Corporation with a network of dealers in any country. And they cant repair the paint?? Maybe you need to send the car to Japan? Why not contact Lexus headoffice and talk their m/d about this bizarre situation?

  20. I think you have answered your own question. Always replace like for like, especially when dealing with brakes.

  21. On my RX350 the hatches to the rearmost storage compartments in the floor squeak badly especially at low speeds. I know that is the problem by placing heavy bags on the hatches and the noise is cured completely. By attaching small pieces of neoprene foam under the hatches so they were squashed when closed the noise was cured long term.

  23. Finding a car with an acceptable colour scheme in budget proved difficult. Metallic black would never look clean with the miles I do (previous experience). Silver cars are rare in this model. The greeny silver didn't appeal, blue again has the cleanliness issues. White would have been great but there were no cars in my budget. Problem was I drove the Premier and that spoiled me for anything else. I wanted to buy from Cheltenham after my negative experience in Derby with the standard of preparation. Having dealt with the salesman at Cheltenham previously twice since 2016 (last time I was buying he was on holiday and another salesman p****d me off), he made it quite clear some months ago that he wasn't going to let anyone else sell me a car when I wanted to change. The original figure to change was £1500 more than I was prepared to pay. After haggling I was shown what the car actually owed them and what the warranty and preparation costs were. (Warranty cost was surprising). We were still too far away. In the end they gave me a final figure after they revalued my car which was only £300 more than my target so I was very happy. Having seen all the similar aged cars available in the UK at Lexus I am not unhappy with the deal.

  24. Hi guys. Update on my lexus ux takumi which I purchased brand new in July 2019. My car is still at the dealers still getting nowhere.Been touch with customer relations 5 times they never get Back in touch with me, I always have to phone them. Lost count how many times I have phoned the dealers. Just get a load of lies like we are getting the tech man never happened. Then we are waiting for the area manager, never happened.now we are supposed to be waiting for the managing director.I will believe that when I see it. As i said in my my post I reported the blind spot monitor only picking vehicles 50% of the time on the passenger side. Its perfect on the driver side. And my auto dip headlights don’t dip blinding on coming traffic. Have to put it on manual. I hope lexus don’t try to make driverless cars because they will kill people. My car has been sitting in the dealers now for 15 days and hasn’t been touched. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING

  25. Seriously? This thread is starting to border on cult status. Perhaps I should save myself the grief, but like Herbie said, there is only so long I can bite my tongue. I kept reading hoping that sense would prevail, but the amount of passive aggressive talk on this thread is embarrassing. Contrary to what is being said here, the NX isn't the greatest car ever made! The points that Paul raised at the beginning about the infotainment system and CVT gearbox are well founded and very annoying considering how well Lexus do other things. When I put my foot down hard I am a little embarrassed by the drone that permeates the cabin (although the sound of the V6 makes up for it somewhat). The fact is that there is nothing wrong with not liking the NX, but you guys seem to take it personally that someone doesn't agree with you about how great it is. Oh, and having sampled the new BMW 3 series, the interior is superb and so far ahead of the Lexus offering that it is not funny. Having said that, I still love my GS, so perhaps I will stick around here rather than find a BMW forum like suggested above....
