  1. This is a very serious matter and is now being looked into, personally I think you are just far enough away from Essex to get away with just a warning. 😀 I’m not into wrapping myself but like some Eminem songs.

  2. I don't pick it up until the morning, but these photo's released on Amigo Wraps Facebook page show my car with the Avery Rising Sun wrap, I've also had some super dooper expensive Nano coating put on the wrap. I don't think it's too 'chavved up'

  4. I've had my Celsior for nearly three years, and for practical purposes I've decided to sell it. I believe this will be an absolute bargain for someone because I've never been one to try to get the top price, it's not worth the agro! So before I go further afield I thought I'd offer it here first. I'm asking just £2,200 but this is non negotiable. It came to the UK in 2018 with 62k and now has 74k. It's a facelift 2003 model with 6 speed transmission and an excellent reversing camera. The speedometer was replaced with a MPH unit by the importer, the mileage verified by the Japanese auction sheet which I have. Unlike our LS430's mine has a factory stainless exhaust system. The body is dark blue, in superb condition with grey wool upholstery (verified by the woolmark label) It had a new radiator and transmission hoses 2.5 years ago as a precaution, the fluid was cherry red. Last year I had the cambelt and water pump replaced, plus new Denso Iridium plugs. It has IS250 wheels with almost new Avon tyres. The air suspension was replaced with conventional springs from Strutmaster in the US, they're KYB struts with US made springs. It has also had new front upper and lower control arms, and lower ball joints, and all four drop links. None of them really needed replacing but I got carried away! The steering wheel motors both work perfectly, as do the soft close doors. It has the usual rear seat gadgets, drinks cooler, lumber refresher etc, all working as they should. No sunroof so presumably from a hot part of Japan but climate control is perfect. It has retro fit front and rear parking sensors, plus the quirky illuminated telescopic parking pole. Sat nav is in Japanese so I removed the disc to stop it talking to me. It has the original very thick "Celsior" floor mats. The rear windows are dark tinted like most Japanese imports although it still has the rear blinds. The music system isn't the troublesome ML. Radio is limited but radio 2 is fine! TV doesn't do much. Since I've had this car it has made a bit of a rattle over uneven surfaces sometimes, I've had three experienced mechanics look but none can say why. The last one to look said it's like a three year old car underneath, there's no rust at all. I'll get some photos on tomorrow if anyone's interested. It drives beautifully, the engine and transmission are silky smooth. I have four keys, two master, one valet and one credit card emergency key. I've had it serviced by an independent and I have the Japanese service book. It's also just had a new Denso air and cabin filters. Like I say, an absolute bargain for whoever buys it. The current reg for MOT checking purposes is N8PPG but that's not included and will have its 03 plate.

  5. If speculation is correct, 2022 NX will get the RAV4 PHEV unit with 302 BHP, 40+miles EV range and 0-60 in 5.8seconds. https://www.forbes.com/sites/peterlyon/2020/05/26/new-lexus-nx-to-get-302-hp-plug-in-hybrid-and-4wd-for-2022-launch/ https://www.torquenews.com/6626/did-toyota-just-leak-its-new-plug-electric-hybrid-or-not Now this is a nice car.

  6. I recently bought the Viofo A129 Duo front/rear Full HD set (plus the hardwire kit and the circular polarising filter, about £188 in total) and installed it myself, which took a couple of hours to do. Unsurprisingly, the hardest part of the job was getting the cable from the front cam to the rear cam. I discovered that the supplied cable was just not quite long enough to go at low level (under the scuff plates etc) in my RX450h so I took it along under the head lining. I previously had a Viofo A119S in my previous RX (that I forgot to take out) which was excellent, so I knew that I wouldn't need to look any further than Viofo again when we got this car a few weeks ago.

  7. I do understand the urge to make a car better. I went through the same thing when I had an E39 BMW with a big thumping V8 in it. I loved that car and spent silly amounts of money on modifications. These days though I've come to believe that these cars, particularly Lexus, are engineered so well from the factory that anything I do is just going to make it worse. So now instead of trying to make it "better" I try to keep it as close to how it was when it was new as possible, because that's what I now see as the best the car could be. Service it regularly, put good quality tyres on it, change the transmission fluid and use OEM parts where it's not financially insane to do so. I think you get more out of these cars by doing that than slapping things like this on. But hey people like different things and I certainly went through the mod phase too. Get a Quaife LSD next, those are fun as hell 😄

  8. Clean the screen and suction cup with isopropyl and make sure the area of the screen you are sticking it to is just glass and doesn't have any black dots or other markings on it.

  9. Excellent video you made proving without doubt just what a load of rubbish the grom thing is. Utter waste of money. I wouldn't have tolerated anywhere near as much as you with those issues. I'd have sent the thing back and got a full refund.

  10. I honestly got tied up with selling my business and my pre CBS Fender guitar collection as most of the guitars went over to the States it was a very long drawn out time/brain consuming affair. Sending 19 plus guitars through customs as some were the price of an RCF. Paperwork and customs were a nightmare but not many UK collectors bothered. I did have a few people look at the car but I didn't do myself any favours in the adverts requesting that need not apply. So the car has been parked up for ages doing nothing so I thought I'd give it a birthday. I will lower it later this year. I'm really looking forward to seeing it in the flesh in about an hours time. I will take my own photo's of it and post them up.

  11. Thanks for the comments, I don't think Amigo Wraps would like me to quote prices, but it's not cheap. I've also opted for the 'Waxisdead' nano coating on the wrap too. I've been way too busy for some time as I've sold my business and my guitar collection and don't seem to have had the time to come on here for ages. My RCF has been parked up doing nothing for ages too so decided to 'pep' it up a bit. Hopefully when I pick it up today I can take some of my own photos, by all accounts photos can't capture the colour shifts like the eye can.

  12. I think the oft-used term from Pistonheads - "gopping" - applies here. Absolutely hideous.

  14. I am here! so yes, I finally got the money back. The seller then added 1000 miles ( probably trying to fix it) and then sold it used for the same price I bought it new. Will never know if problems are now sorted but have no intention of trying to find out ... Thanks to everyone that discussed the whole thing in the topic and especially royoftherovers who kindly pm'ed me offering his help

  16. My LC was first detailed from new back in September 2017 As I have decided to keep the car for a few more years I decided to treat it to a re coating. I had Cristal Serum Ultra with two coats of Exov4 on top. Wheels were also remover and coated front and back. The Work was carried out by Marvin at WOW Factors in Orpington at a total cost of £1100 As you can see by the photos the car looks amazing.

  18. What can only be described as some ancient beaten up old can that could only be found in the depths of my fathers garage and sworn by through the generations! 😆 I've honestly forgotten its name but I had never heard of it before, will report back if I remember.

  25. I can tell you the Alpine A110 is brilliant! I have an A110S ( replaced RCF Carbon). I would describe it as a grown up Elise. My only criticism is that luggage space is marginal for going away. Happy to answer any questions and if anyone is near East Herts happy to let people have a poke around.

  27. Sounds very ominous 😆 I thought you had sold the F and moved on! Good to see it's still kicking about 😉 - the wrap looks mega, goes well with the wheels too! Are you still planning to lower it? Be interested to see it in the flesh once we're allowed!

  28. I had one for a while and you’re absolutely right, Barry. I don’t think there was room for a trolley jack in the lowered position. But while the action was certainly majestic, it wasn’t quite instant! This Citroen was not a good choice if you needed a fast getaway, for some reason. In fact I do recall that from starting the engine to driving off, there was plenty of time to catch the surprised attention of passers-by. Of course, the system also gave you the ‘ploughed field’ position and eliminated the need for a jack if removing a wheel. It was - and still is - an astonishing car in many respects and why it’s still not in production in a some updated form is a mystery to me.

  31. Do not know any mods, so no problem there. I think it looks different and interesting and I suppose it is some kind of protective foil that probably is resistant to little chips from stone and pigeon poop.

  32. Slight digression here, Rowley, but this error/typo seems to crop up a lot on this site. I would point out that Linas does get it right for the penultimate word of his last post. But I have noticed it occurring even in the titles for posts, with someone asking for advice about their ‘breaks’. Now as someone who made a career out of writing, I am always irritated by the common errors prevalent when people try to write the way they talk, but...the chance that a car enthusiast doesn’t know the difference between ‘brake’ and ‘break’ seems vanishingly small to me. So in such instances I’m inclined to blame the dictatorial hand of the Predictive Test Monster - a shadowy figure lurking in the background and waiting to pounce on a barely completed word, determined to change sense into nonsense. I know I’ve nearly fallen victim and this site does seem to employ a particularly vindictive predictive! So all I can suggest is that before posting, everyone checks, cheques and Czechs again.

  34. Well, I thought I should post and inform you guys, after much searching for just the right car, family circumstances (not mine, but my cousin) changed, and I've ended up with a GS450h UK car. Got to say, it's extremely impressive! Thanks everyone who contributed to this thread! Will get pics etc up on the forum soon once I've got my plate on it and got it nicely cleaned up!

  35. My most hated car designs are the boring ones. The hamburgers of McDonalds that nobody hates and nobody likes, the grey anonymous mice that nobody sees that do not draw attention that are the best sleeping pills seeing them is yawning. The corollas, accords, passats, jettas, a4 estates, outlanders. Remove the badge and nobody knows what brand it is. Lazy design inspirationless and most likely the result of car clinics. Design a car ask 1000 people for an opinion and oh no! 200 do not like it, redesign and do it again. Compromise after compromise leading to utterly boring middle of the road musac anodyne cars that are mostly sold in a grey color.

  37. My 3RX had 19" tyres and I had Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 2 all round. I don't know if they do a 20" version for the 4RX but if they do, I'll be having them all round again; absolutely superb tyres.

  38. The main 'benefit' to these is the intake noise you get. If that is something you want then go for it. Power benefits aren't really there on its own - the standard system isn't that restrictive, nor does the air get excessively heated by the engine to benefit from a colder supply. If you were doing it in conjunction with a free flow exhaust and de-cat then you may start to see benefits from modifying the intake but you are never going to get much of a power increase from the 250 engine other than forced induction (turbo or supercharger).

  42. found the info on Lexus World, it seemed to be quite common. Another thing to check are the reluctor rings on the rear. take out the sensors and check the state of the rings by looking in through where the sensor fits. Make surse they are not worn down, even partly. Can be a bit of a job to replace, had mine done by Rich (lexusman) on lexus world.

  43. Hi All, are we not missing the point here. Speed humps are there for a purpose they make us stick to the speed limit, by making it very uncomfortable to go over them. It is the same when people complain about being caught speeding. The answer is in the drivers hands, or should I say right foot. We all like to drive fast, it's one of the pleasures of driving. If there was no deterrent the idiots out there, and we have all seen them ,would drive at any speed they feel like. Lets not forget people, a car in the wrong hands is a lethal weapon. I don't like speed humps at all, but they make me keep my speed down, and the only speed effective speed cameras are the type that register average speed, I don't like them either!

  45. A new one on me, and as a result of searching for Belzona have come across Devcon (mentioned on Piston heads). Much cheaper than than JB Weld for decent quantities, and I have some around the house projects that would benefit from this stuff. Just need to jack the LS when I know weather is going to be warm enough for long enough. Currently working on restoring a pool table with my son, promised him it would be done in time for nicer weather, then its time for the motor to be loved

  47. For cars older than 12 months it’s worth claying the glass too. It’s makes the glass super slick so water just slides off plus it makes it less likely to get ice building up on it (or it’s a lot easier to remove). A coat of Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Wax on the glass afterwards really boosts the slickness. I rarely use my wipers now. Get to 30mph and - whoosh - water gone.
