However, being called an idiot and responsible for the destruction of the planet because I own an electric car is what I objected to. Also, I didn't resort to calling John names and yet, rather than debate the points I raised, he decided to just ignore me immediately. Whilst that is indeed his prerogative, I do find it somewhat childish and closed minded. Also, isn't the whole point of a forum to talk about different points of view? The point I am trying to make is that the content itself isn't a problem, but it is the manner by which some members conduct themselves that I take objection to. Oh dear Gang and Shahpor. I'm sorry to say this but the way I see it you have read John's posts with some kind weird spectacles. You've taken umbrage to his beliefs and concerns which yes have been quite heavily put. You've refused for what ever reason to ignore his findings and yes lots of copy paste articles and yes mostly 'anti' BEV. I'm anti BEV because of the utter profiteering of the companies associated with traction battery manufacturer. The use of children to dig up by hand the 'precious' materials and with that the tragic loss of life of too many of those children. Profiteering has a lot to answer for. Yes an electrically powered car is a great idea But alternatives to what's used now NEED to be developed and from what I've read here and there their is development taking place. This thread I started and its about what's wrong with electric cars. It's turned out quite well with branched out topics. Hydrogen and Synthetic fuel which I believe will come to fruition quicker than the development of a traction battery made from 'friendly' materials. John's taken to block your comments. That's his perogative. I've taken no umbrage to any post he's done. I've appreciated quite a few of them. There has unfortunately been a few misinformed posts and totally wrong. For example 'pollution' from tyres being worse from BEV's. Someone did however correct that and clearly differentiated between tread wear and particulates of rubber. That's the great thing about forums. There are informative folk and misinformed folk within them. I love 'em all, even if I disagree with them.

Today I finished preparing Bombproof Betty for the Centenary Le Mans. It's taken a while, was a little challenging at times, but has been a highly enjoyable process, I've made new friends along the way and discovered a bomb detector:o) I wanted to restore an already lovely car (thanks Antony) into my daily driver "from here to eternity". The list of work includes replacing rocker gasket covers, auxiliary belt, rear brake pads & shoes, front brake pads, old hoses, fixing coolant and water leaks, adding a new temperature sensor and gasket thermostat, cleaning the throttle body, refurbishing wheels, dent removal, paint restoration and detailing. There's still more work still to be done I'm very happy to say, that will keep me occupied and out of trouble for a while yet.

....hola amigos! This will be my first post and my third CT200h over the years and must add...is the second love of my life but my wife insists I put her first....so be it! Back in March we had the unfortunate experience of being rear shunted and my car was to be off the road for 9 weeks waiting for delivery of rear body panels so because Lexus have ceased producing the CT model (what a pity) some body parts are on back order....anyhoo I have it back and it's only when you drive other cars you realize just how good my Lexus is in comparison to all the rest, this comment is based on my hire car replacement a 2022 Volvo Estate and must say WHAT a TANK of a vehicle!!! did not enjoy one minute of the drive and makes driving a Lexus a true luxury on the road. Lastly, if I win the lotto I'm buying the Lexus LC Ultimate for sure... what a car! Thanks for reading folks. 😎 just read the article

Hello fellow Lexus owners. After a phone call with my Lexus dealer and after I was advised that the only way to protect myself from the car theft was to upgrade to a new model, I decided to email BBC Crimewatch Live. here is my email to them. “ Dear crimewatch team, I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to you in the hope to bring up to your attention a recent spike in car thefts using a new method using canbus hacking. A YouTube video of one such example is below. Toyota and Lexus cars seem to be the most vulnerable due to the fact that their canbus network is not encrypted their headlights are connected via canbus straight to the cars main computer and access to the wiring on the front headlights being easily accessible by prying open the bumper by the wheel arch. I disagree with their reply and I am sure that Toyota/Lexus would not like to treat their customers this way but I feel that the only way to get any official response from them would be via media coverage. I wouldnt sell it Paul, you will regret it, I've had an sc430, ls430, gs430 mk2 sport, gs300 mk3 and is300, none of them are as reliable and good to drive like an ls400. Took my ls400 into lextek 2 weeks ago to get drivebelt replaced, a customer there offered me 6k for it, I declined to sell it, a month ago someone offered me 5.5k for it, I wouldn't sell it. About 4 months ago I was in Nottingham, some guy with an rx300 stopped me and said he wants my ls400, he would give me the rx300 and 4k on top, I said no thank you. Its not about the money, although I could do with the money, I love the car, I'm glad it didnt sell when I put it on here, i wouldn't know what to get next. Nothing out there is as good as an ls400. Body wise shes about 80% good, but mechanically she is brilliant, I've looked after it.

So, in effect, they are already here. Now, I know this post will most likely fall on deaf ears and will do nothing to stop people spouting the same thing again and again, but by not commenting I feel like I am somewhat complicitly agreeing with what is being said and that is certainly not the case.

I've just received a very delayed letter (thanks royal mail) from Lexus insurance offering a free of charge[1] immobiliser for my 2020 RX. Sounds like they've been getting more claims they say "Recent trends in our insurance claims database indicate a concerning increase in theft rates for premium segment vehicles." which leaves me wondering if the CAN bus hack is getting more common. I'm going to take them up on this and I'll find out which immobiliser they're using. For those with other insurers might be worth getting an immobiliser or a steering wheel lock. [1] Obviously not really free as it's coming out our premiums.

It appears to take approximately a year to get a new Lexus delivered. If someone cancels their order it might be possible for a dealer to resell that order with a relatively quick delivery. I visited a BMW dealer recently and was offered a brand new car for delivery in November but the cars offered were already in the order system. Companies may also buy multiple cars and get quicker delivery. I am waiting for my Lexus even although it is very frustrating at times.

Deb, don’t get uptight about it. It may just be that his dealer had a cancellation and the slot was then given to a waiting customer, or perhaps he has one of the bad dealers who delight in telling porkies just to string the customer along by giving them a date which they know cannot be met. It has happened on here a few times in the past. Either way it’s not worth stressing about. You will love yours so much when it arrives the long wait will be soon forgotten 👍

Replaced OEM Pirelli P7 with Continental UltraContact a month or so ago. Half noise inside the not very well noise insulated micro-Lexus and a lot of better handling. Handling in the CT is actually very very good, if it had a power plant to match the suspension the name part "Sport" would make sense. Asked Lexus for the Continental tyres, and they recommended what they had in stock. Price for what they had in stock was almost 100€ more expensive than local tyre company wanted for the tyres I want and when telling Lexus that the tyres I want are the UltraContact they offered these more than 200€ more expensive. They only want to sell what they make the most profit on. For normal cars driven on normal roads (not always perfect tarmac), there are no reasons to put-on so-called sport tyres. No matter if Lexus call our cars Luxury - Sport - etc. they do not make cars for track days. Real sport tyres come with so many not needed negatives: noise, not lasting very long and more noise. Have been in car business many years and have been selling tyres.

Booked my car with the Lexus dealer to replace the AFS sensor on 5th July (the earliest available date). In April I replaced the rear shocks. I hope nothing else needed for some time.

Hi Ive just replaced a full set to ridgestone Turanza 006 after 30,000 in 14 months from new on my FSport, and then only due to 3 punctures in 3 weeks. The rim protectors are a lot smaller than the supplied Dunlops, and it has already caused a couple of scuffs, where the dunlops were very forgiving. But the ride, noise and grip levels are excellent, and worth the trade off. I would reccomend.

Malc1 lexus has removed the heat shields as mentioned in video possibility of them cutting O2 sensor wires.

Just to add to the general confusion - picked up my new NX450h with premium plus pack from the dealers on 1st June 23. It’s the MY24 so should have all the latest versions so after a whole week:- total milage is incorrect - not all there about 50% of trips are missing - most of those that do show are my trips back home, only 1 when I left home? this is on both apps on iPhone , iPad and My Lexus on laptop also my Lexus is mixed mpg/mph and kph. Shows speed etc in metric but shows top speed of 110mpg this should be 110kph (ie just under 70mph). does get location correct most of the time- on 1 occasion my trip home showed the car a little bit out have not tried the other bits ( temp, unlock) The car itself is great !!!!!!, and am very pleased with it, so can put up with (what is to me) the nice to haves but not to bothered about bits on the app. Having been with Lexus for a number of years I am disappointed with this and their apparent inability to correct

I’ve had HUD in my last twocars, tried it for 5 mins, rather underwhelming and turned it off! Certainly wouldn’t consider it essential and would take the upgraded audio any day. Even the base spec non sport plus is quite nice, wheels on the plus are better but personally not bothered about the rear spoiler and alcantara, if anything the full leather and glass roof seems more appealing on the base, just an opinion before someone comes with internet shotgun fully loaded!!

I think we are still generally on the 'good' side when it comes to forums 🙂 Also, personally, I find the HUD in my current car invaluable and would consider it a requirement if I was looking for an LC (should I ever be in such a fortunate position!).

I must say I do find it rather odd that with our enormous coastline and tides that the boffins AND govt haven't found a sensible, economic and good way forward with harnessing Tidal Power .BUT that won't in itself provide vehicle fuel of course . coz all that energy would presumably be used for domestic consumption .. homes. factories and ........ finally those EVs Let's se how the BP H2 production comes along in the North of England . I just feel that will be a " game changer " with vehicle propulsion coming forward in some great measure and in a timely way too Malc

Hi Paul, I don't know your car and can't seem to find a photo at the moment. However I've invested a similar amount into both of my 400s (in fact a bit more on my gold one) and if yours has been fully restored, then personally I would think as long as its a desirable colour and the mileage is sensible, there will be someone knowledgable out there that will be willing to pay that price. Naturally there are bargains out there at much lower prices, but they need a great deal of work and that suits those who have time and ability but not all have those gifts.

Lights ON - Very welcome when attempting to join the Westbound A720 Edinburgh City Bypass in early morning traffic. The sun is directly behind with an uninterrupted view for miles and you can barely see anything in your mirrors. Cars with their headlights on are significantly easier to spot in the glare. I'm sure there are many other east-to-west facing roads in the UK, where this scenario plays out.

He's simply whingeing and whining that the H2 refuelling pumps can't supply enuf fuel to refill H2 powered cars , ugh ! talk to BP etc about the supply issues to the pumps and storage issues on-going ............ and there's not enuf H2 refuelling pumps . wow, we know that for sure ........ there weren't enough petrol stations in the 1890's either I guess AND the Mirai only has a range on refill of 650 kms ..... wot's the guy thinking .......... dopey video, sorry .. get someone who's wanting to see the positive signs eh ! Finally got round to some seat related items, rear seats seemed to be in the worst condition so spent a lot of time working on them. The bench was just very creased but the back had some very minor repairs which is highlighted by the white filler, which I have to say I am astounded by. Hopefully the pictures are in order. General order of repair was, clean entire seat, scuff up seat as a whole, repair required areas, very gentle flatting off, spirit wipe down. 3-5 colour coats, 3 matt finish sealant. Car coming back to me next week is latest update from body shop. Away at a wedding Fri-Sun, so finishing front seats next week. I would love to take all the credit, but my dad is a retired painter and still a rather dab hand with his paint sprayers, so I did most of the prep work and he worked his magic with the dye and paint gun. A good two days chatting all things car!

I'm not against having headlights on during the day. In fact, I will typically do this on a daily basis when working (as a driver). It's dark at the start of my shift, so headlights are required and I'll invariably just leave them on all night until I return to base. Overall, as long as they're properly aimed and aligned, I find other drivers having headlights on more helpful than a hindrance. The only real nitpick I have is that it can be more difficult to spot whether someone is indicating or not, since the turn signal is located inside the headlight casing on most vehicles these days. DRLs are all well and good, but as mentioned earlier, they're only on the front. I've lost count of the amount of times I've seen idiots driving in really bad conditions, or in complete darkness with no lights on. Doubly idiotic when they're in a black/gray/silver car that renders them almost invisible.

The problem as I see it is one of 'standing out' so that people know you're there. When no one at all had to use headlights during the day or DRLs, no one stood out. Then came a law to say motorcycles must use them "to stand out". Now, if everyone is using them these days, no one stands out anymore - except for the ones that don't have any lights on

Having lived in the country where it is mandatory and in UK I disagree with you. Not only it isn't stupid, but it is the most responsive way to drive. The more visible you are on the road the better, don't confuse it with fake xenons that are not adjusted properly (or don't have right projectors) or simply misaligned lights that dazzles oncoming cars. Sure those are issues, but properly working lights shouldn't dazzle anyway, so your argument is just unfounded. Now it may be my issue, because I have lived and learned to drive elsewhere, but for me lights being ON makes HUGE difference. Simply said if car does not have lights on, then it isn't driving/moving. Apart of just convenience for all road users around you there are many occasions where they help in poor visibility (and we have plenty of that in UK even in day time). EU wouldn't have adopted this approach if it wouldn't be beneficial... if memory serves the time required to notice the car with headlights ON was 60% shorter in good conditions and 80% shorter in adverse conditions, as well the distance at which the car is notices increased by 30%. As well they found that other road users, particularly pedestrians were much more accurate predicting speed of oncoming vehicles when the lights were on. So this is not only for other drivers, and let's just face it - pedestrians do not pay attention anyway, so every little helps. I rather have lights ON than have to beep at idiots that steps right in front of the car. Now I personally consider myself "good driver" and I concentrate to driving when I am driving, but on many occasions on gloomy day, morning or dusk I just didn't see the oncoming car, because obviously they were driving without lights and it was like grey or muddy green colour car which just blends in with the surroundings. It wasn't anything dangerous as I have noticed them in the end, but it was "ohh ****, where did they came from?!" moment. Again it may be my driver training and experience where I expect ANY car on the road to always have lights ON, but it just goes to show that lights help for cars being more noticeable and it is nothing more but laziness not having them on. Most European countries did right thing and made them mandatory 24/7, but obviously retarded UK can't expect drivers to be able to turn on headlights, so instead they relied on DLRs to be introduced. Finally, having the law to always drive with the lights removes ambiguity and sets good habit of turning them on as soon as you turn the engine (in case your car doesn't have "auto" lights). Because in UK I see people driving at night without lights or just with DLR... simply because it is kind of ambiguous of when they need to be turned on and people simply forget. I know that in driver training they say "when the street lights come on", the HC says "when visibility is seriously reduced", but both are poor measures... street lights may not come on until it is way too dark on winter days, or generally in gloomy and rainy days and "seriously reduced visibility" again could be interpreted... they say that definition is "when visibility is less than 100m"... well OK... what exactly is visibility? If I can still shadows of cars an people is that still "visible", how clear the objects should be to be considered visible? What if they visible at 120m and not 100m? Could I still drive without lights? And again even when visibility is clearly bad, people still drive without lights. I have seen people driving on motorway at 2AM without lights! So again - much simpler and safer is to have them always ON, so nobody needs to interpret anything. Needless to say I will continue driving with my headlights always ON and if it would be down to me I would make it mandatory for everyone.

Automatics can be towed for short distances . The trouble is the pump that pumps the ATF around the gearbox only runs when the engine is running so can cause damage. Don't know about CTV as I have no experience of these. Being an old school mechanic lol

I just picked up my car on Friday, build was early March. It is a 24 model year.

UPDATE time.. I may have mentioned before that when I got the car, there was some damage to front bumper and the driver's side front wing. The interior was like a cream velour (super soft cloth?), which I wasn't a fan of, but the main issue was the fact that the previous owner was a tradie and the whole car was just a bit dirty and smelt really really bad - sweat and who knows what else, really wasn't nice to sit in with the windows up. The day after I got the car I swapped as much of the interior as I could at the breaker's yard. Made a huge difference, but it's still not finished. At least I got rid of the stench though! 😂 Things left to do inside: Seat belts need swapping for black ones Carpet needs fabric dying black Knee air bags need replacing - I didn't manage to swap those out when I was at the breaker's yard - they just wouldn't come out easily, so I just left them. Rear parcel shelf needs fabric dying black - I'll see what's what, I might just buy a black one and just straight swap it As for the exterior, the car was overall fairly clean apart from the damage on the front wing, bumper and kerbed alloys. Last week I got a 3IS bumper conversion, which is something I wanted to do on my previous IS250. I managed to fit it and paint it with the help of @TadasC on Sunday! It needed a lot of trimming, both the bumper and the car, but it fits quite good now. Obviously the front wing is still damaged and needs replacing so there is a bit of a panel gap as it's pushed up by a few mm. However it looks way better now. I drove down to Bristol yesterday after work to pick up some new wheels (forged RAYS from a Nissan 350Z) for this car. Everything is slowly coming together. The wheels are the same size as my F-Sport wheels which I've sold to @Linas.P but they have a lower offset so they sit further out by roughly 15mm. I will still need some spacers in the near future once I lower the car, but it'll do for now! Some pics below, including photoshopped image to display how it's gonna look lowered.

While it's generally referred to as "for life" the ATF is supposed to be inspected every 3 years (the same service where the diff oil is replaced) and if it's starting to go bad they should normally quote to change it (or at least this is what's supposed to be done). If people want it done as a precautionary measure though then a dealer should absolutely be accommodating to that (especially if they handle all your over servicing/repairs). Personally I think a £450 quote seems a little high, however given the retail cost of buying the oil/filter/etc will be approaching £200 I would probably rather pay that than spend a whole Saturday under my car risking getting myself and my driveway covered in the most disgusting fluid you can get out of a car haha. Especially as the procedure for changing the ATF on an F is super awkward if you don't have a laptop with Techstream handy.

Looking at the title of the thread I wondered if it was about gender fluidity and cars mechanics, LOL! The problem with any dealer is knowing the have done the job properly, I had mine done at 80k last service, but on the ISF I have been told they need to pump the old oil out, and that there is no drain plug, but that may have been incorrect info they told me? Still having done is a good call as it hopefully avoids any transmission issues in the next 50k+ miles of the car's life....

Our GSF is currently at Bristol Lexus for its fuel pipe recall ( second attempt) , service and MOT. I arrived yesterday morning to be told that my Service and MOT was not booked in 🤦🏽‍♂️. This was quickly rectified, but my car would need to stay for a couple of days ( no issues there). I asked them to also change the transmission oil and was give the ‘sealed for life’ story, before being hit with a £450 quote. To add salt in the wound, I was given the most basic car they had, when the other costumer who turned up around the same time as myself, walked away with and RX500h as his courtesy car 😡.
