  1. Thanks, yes I did get a handover which included the boot items but they were all wrapped in plastic so the problems with sizes, shapes etc weren’t apparent. I can go back and ask them about this but I thought I’d get a more useful answer from other users here!

  3. Thankyou! Car is with dealers now, I will post an update when a solution to my specific issue is found, so others can check this out.

  4. As others have pointed out, the 12v battery does not have the capacity that one would have fitted to ICE cars. I found this out the hard way when fitting front & rear dash cams during which I found myself locked inside the car on 2 occasions. Yes, before the battery fully depletes it goes in to “protect” mode and locks the car. Not fun having to climb from the front seat through to the boot to be able to use the manual release. The low capacity 12v battery works fine though after leaving the car for 3 weeks at an airport so I guess it does what it is designed to do & now I know what its limitations are I plan accordingly, it doesn’t really present any hardship.

  7. Does not have to be an official recorded safety issue recall. Nothing to stop a manufacturer having a non safety recall for whatever they want, doesn't have to be an "official" recorded one, but in reality they avoid as best they can to save the costs.

  8. Good spot on the steering wheel. Hmm I like your idea about radar. I had heard later 430s had it. Dont remeber a factory option for this, could it be aftermarket?

  9. In my experience I get 3-5 mpg more with premium. That said, not all premium is the same. Esso used to be the best for mpg before they stopped zero ethanol, now Shell seems to be marginally better. Typically on mixed driving I get around 30/32 on premium and 27/29 on regular. That said, driving style makes a lot difference, especially on long motorway runs. I find 60-65mph to be the sweet spot, and on a run over to France got an average of 40 mpg at that kind of speed. Funnily enough it rarely makes any difference to journey time, as the slower speed is mitigated by less slowing down for other drivers and then speeding up again, whih of course burns more fuel when accelerating. At 60-65 I find that sometimes I can maintain a constant speed for most of the journey with hardly ever having to touch the brakes.

  10. I thought I'd share my experiences having picked up my NX450h+ a couple of days ago. I'm the second owner, the first being a different Lexus dealership who pre-registered the car in late September 2023, so 4 months ago. 35 miles on the clock when I collected it. No second key fob, just the manual key. Their description of when I'd get the 2nd key fob was completely in line with the latest news on this forum. I was also told the "priority order" is based on chassis number, so mine should be coming soon despite only just buying the car. I was also told they will use my address for the letter as the registered owner of the car. I asked about locking wheel nuts/bolts. They hadn't thought of this, but having checked there were none in the car, he said they had been sent a few sets, so it was also supplied and fitted while I was doing all the paperwork. Impressive. The car came with a paper copy of the manual. My fuel flap is sticky. As a result they've ordered a new one and it will be fitted for me in a week or so while I wait So - all in all a good experience so far, and I really like the car.

  11. Just wondering what other peoples experience has been regarding the provision of the 2nd Key for their NX450h+. I took delivery of my car on 8th June 2023 but still no update from the dealership as to when the second key will be available. Are new cars now coming through with 2 keys ? Thanks Graham

  12. After a month or so of searching and with the support of some of you guys on here…… I’ve finally found the car for me. 2004 Silver, Black and Walnut. A lovely, genuine, unmolested, 4 previous owner SC. Driven 220 miles today bringing it to its new home and it drives beautifully….. never missed a beat. Thank you to the guys who gave up their time to advise and direct me. (You know who you are!!!) 👏🏼

  13. Folks, get some strong tape like Gorilla tape or something and cut off about 3cm of it. Then wrap it around the striker that is in the centre of the bottom boot lip when the hatch is open. Wrap it around the outermost part of the loop only. One or two turns maximum will do the trick. More than that may stop the hatch locking when you close it.

  14. Why not try a radiator company there must some in Lancashire, we have northern radiators in Leeds, if it’s a rad leak or pipe they would be able to fix it, after all it’s just a radiator nothing special. There seems to be company similar in preston Motor Radiator Specialists

  16. And I’m sure you will…but not from me as Lexus MK has never managed to persuade me to change my IS250 for a newer model! However, in case you are not aware of them, there is a major Lexus dealer in America who has produced a very detailed and well presented series of videos on Lexus cars. Obviously there may be differences between the two markets, but they are doing what UK dealers should be doing - if not Lexus themselves! Any way, if you’ve not seen it I hope it proves informative.

  19. Yes, I was reading about this in the D Telegraph this morning. As well as investing several millions on improving vehicle security, he claimed that JRL were donating several hundred thousands to persuade dock security to do their job more efficiently. As he rightly states: “We’ve got to make it more difficult for gangs and people to operate. We’re partly funding police security at the ports because there isn’t enough. The containers are not being checked, and they get out of the country.” It would be interesting to know who knew about these failings and did nothing about them! Sounds like the Post Office debacle all over again!

  20. I would similarly have issues about paying more for less! The cheapest car is almost always the one you own already - with the potential for a Relax warranty until 10 years / 100k miles, is there any reason to change? If you’re looking at other brands, have you considered the Toyota Yaris Cross? It’s due a small facelift/refresh (already out for Yaris) and could be a good and much cheaper option in top spec trim…. https://www.toyota.co.uk/new-cars/yaris-cross/premiere-edition

  21. I have a test drive booked at the end of the month. The car looks impressive, and the reviews are excellent, but the initial PCP numbers I’ve been given aren’t encouraging…I’d end up paying over £100 more per month than on my current RX deal! I know that’s because the world has changed since 2021 when I bought mine, both in terms of interest rates and trade in values. I also know that I got a huge discount for the RX at purchase, and there don’t seem to be any discounts on the LBX at the moment, nor are there any finance offers. Why would there be to be fair, as it’s a brand new model. What has depressed me is the staggering drop in value for my RX over the past six months, one can only assume because of theft/insurance issues affecting desirability. Anyway, I’ll go and look at the LBX as it may be a future contender. For now I can’t see why I’d downsize and pay more, which offsets increased insurance on the RX. One other thing. I’ve looked at a couple of other brands - one premium, one not - and both dealers offered significantly more for my RX than Lexus have! That’s disappointing, but may be resolved with a bit of a haggle. One option is the new MINI Countryman which I’ll drive in March. Looking in the showroom, it’s more practical than the LBX, helpfully cheaper for a like for like spec (£4k approx), and has an impressive and high quality interior. At the other end of the scale I’ve been impressed by the Skoda Kamiq, which is £10k cheaper than the Lexus for the top model, and as I’m now doing fewer than 5k miles a year may well be a good ‘value’ alternative.

  22. Are you happy that you have taken the "additional steps" but still have an insurance premium that goes up regardless? For the life of me, I cannot understand why Lexus can't solve this problem by a software fix or indeed a hardware solution.

  23. I heard on BBC Radio news earlier that the boss of JLR has been defending the security of Range Rovers following reports of ‘soaring’ insurance costs. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/jaguar-land-rover-stolen-insurance-cost-b2489922.html

  24. You're right, it can and does drive you potty! The noise can appear to originate from the offside but can also manifest itself from the nearside, albeit the former tends to be more usual. BTW, well done for getting hold of the "TSB" which I believe was created by Lexus Australia!

  25. Good eyes Sir. I hadn't noticed the missing mirror. That hole though, what is it? I did have a chat with a chap who offered to buy my car a few weeks ago ( not even from my cold dead hands!) and he mods 400s, gets another 50 bhp. Didnt ask how, but probably new CAI, exhaust etc. But now I wonder if it's a small supercharger and could that be a ram air channel?
    1 point
  26. To be fair mate mine was the factory white interface and head units do support it, you usually need a completely different harness of wiring for that to work however. The teyees CC3 from my mums old car and my current XTRONS are the facelift version so they can support it, for the longest time there was little to no support up until recently however

  27. Yes, Colin, I do have a trickle charger I used to use for my motorcycle batteries on the basis that they were ridden infrequently. I wouldn’t expect to have to use it on a £50k+ car that is driven over 10k miles a year… In any case, my car is too far from the house to plug the charger in. As advised by the AA and others on these forums, I have been putting the car into ‘Ready Mode’ when hoovering the floor mats or loading / unloading the boot - something I have never had to do with any other car! I have raised the matter with Lexus again.

  28. Orange is not for “fast charging points”, plug-in hybrids do not support what is called “fast DC charging”. It is a type 2 cable for charging using home charger, 30 amp, I have installed one in my driveway. It he cable would also work at “destination chargers” (at a hotel etc), although with plug-in it is not that important 13 amp is called “granny charger”. I don’t this as I have a 30amp charger, so I put it away and keep only the orange cable in the car as my charger is untethered.

  29. I've often wondered what the empty slots are for on my more modest 300h. On checking my manual just now, there is section that shows what goes where (some of it is optional on my model year). I have learned that we can stow the parcel shelf (luggage cover) under the floor. 🙂 The manual for your model (around page 334) has some information, but it is quite vague (see image below). 😐 It does confirm on the page after this that you can also stow the luggage cover too (as long as you haven't stuffed all those extra cables in a bag I guess?!).

  30. I assume that you meant to type quiet. Bosch are almost certainly the best. They may also be the most expensive. But if you buy cheap you buy twice!

  31. Likewise. I kept the cables in the bag (bit of a wrestle to get them in!) and stored them in the boot. Eventually put them below the boot floor without the bag but also got fed up getting them out and in so they are back in the bag in the boot! Certainly didn't get a European safety kit and guess this must be a requirement now.
    1 point
  32. Errr, interesting. Mine came with the 2 cables and screwdriver but no European Safety Kit. I did get a bag but it's not big enough or the right shape for cables so I've never been sure about its intended purpose. Although the cables do fit under the boot floor, I have given up putting them there as it's too awkward to get them out every day or so.

  39. On the plus side the longer contract you can get the more you save. The new contract price is fixed for the term, on current day prices. My final major service of a three year term is due in March and will be a decent saving when comparing the increases over the last 3 years. Hopefully I will be able to push for a new 3year with an interest free, monthly direct debit.

  40. As above the Hybrid system will manage the charge status and not something to worry about. When at the minimum charge (something like 20%) the engine will start (if not already running) and recovers to max normal (something like 80%) within a few miles of driving. You'll only ever get to 100% after extended braking.
    1 point
  41. Don't bother giving it a thought. It sorts itself out. Mine is rarely 'fully charged', only after a long mountain descent. The system doesn't allow it get too low either, just diverts power generated by the engine to charge the battery if needed. One of those rare things that just 'works'. Enjoy your purchase!

  42. It isn't - it's a rushed compliance car that is woefully uncompetitive. Even The Car Care Nut on YouTube, who couldn't be anymore pro Toyota/Lexus, said it wasn't a good car.

  44. Take a lesson from this - even the pictures are black and white ( mostly ) and really .......yawn..... Goodnight. I am thinking of proposing this chap - John Burke - as honorary member. He certainly knows how to make boring things even more mundane - My hero! Any more trouble from you lot and there's more where this came from! See Below if you can stay awake.. The Roman Road up Blackstone Edge, Littleborough Lancashire In 1982 I was freelance writing for magazines and for a year or two around this time had a fairly regular series in Lancashire Magazine called John Burke's Curious Lancashire. In each article I would focus on seven different curiosities - old village pumps, reminders of witchcraft, stocks in churchyards and so on. Anything that was a reminder of times gone by. In April 1982 I parked the car up on the moors above Littleborough near Rochdale. I was born and raised in Rochdale and whilst it has been in Greater Manchester since 1974, it is still in Lancashire the geographical region as far as I'm concerned. I started to climb up the hill from the car. Even in 1982 when I was much younger and shaped somewhat like a racing snake I was soon out of breath before I had reached the curiosity I had come to see. The gradient here is a hefty one in four - for every four feet horizontally, you climb one foot upwards. The Romans were renowned for taking the shortest route. They wouldn't spend time and money building roads round hills - they just went straight up them and over. And this is a Roman road. Getting on for 2000 years old. Better preserved the farther you climb - because once it became no more than a curiosity, people knackered themselves walking up, saw it and turned back I presume! There's a good view looking down at any rate! In this photo we are looking straight down over Littleborough to Rochdale and beyond. On the left is local beauty spot, Hollingworth Lake. Where the road can be seen curving round on the right of the photo - that's where I had left the car... It was impressive. As you get to the better preserved parts you see kerb stones at the edge of the road and a massive gutter in the centre. It may have been just a drainage channel - it does rain a bit at times in Lancashire... It has also been suggested that it could have been to take a brake. I found it tiring enough just walking up on my own. Animals pulling heavy carts or wagons would need a rest going up and would need something to take the weight of the cart or they would be pulled backwards. Carts coming down would need to be held back or the poor animals would be pushed down the hill and crushed by their own loads. Anyway I was impressed enough to return at a later date with colour film in the camera. I've often thought about going back. But perhaps I'll just have another look at these photos... Ah yes... that will do nicely!

  46. Almost impossible even without P2D enabled. I believe they recently updated the phone app to stop the 'key' working if the phone hasn't been moved for a period of time, similar to the sleeping you get with physical key fobs. The refreshed M3 just launched also implements UWB, not that relay attacks are that practical with bluetooth anyway. Obviously a vulnerability might be discovered in the future, as with any car, but given the programmable nature of the vehicle its more likely that Tesla could fix an issue in software via an over the air update than Lexus could with the ES. Not sure all the security features are recognised by Thatcham, and no locking wheel nuts, means even the RWD model is in the highest insurance group.

In the centrefold is a large double spread picture of him and his two surviving pals being rescued by the Americans from the jungle. He is Sergeant Lewis Marshall. He lost a few teeth and a lot of weight but after eating insects and vermin for 3 months it is not surprising.

  50. These problems pre date 13 years of Tory government. Indeed it is easy to blame government, but lest we forget the government are elected by voters. You want the blunt harsh reality ? We, the people of this country don't want to pay for the issues you state are the root of the problem. Indeed, we elect govts who act on those wishes. Like most things in life you really want something then be prepared to pay for it.
