  3. SORTED. if you see these round holes on your bumpers then your car had pariking sensors installed!!! I managed to find what is the small black push-button for. Previous owner installed Electronic Parking System (FBSN-4FD) on this car. It had been installed under the panel just next to gas pedal. Whole set includes 8 sensors (4 in front bumper, 4 on rear), main control unit (the one attached ), front cable harness, small black push-button and the speaker which beeps the annoying sound. After switching the ignition ON If one of the sensor fails then the speaker makes loooong beep plus a short beeps. if 2 sensors fail to work then speaker makes looong beep plus 2 short beeps something like that. Apparently my car has 2 failed sensors. The parking sensor never work if one of the sensors is not working. I didn't bother to change or clean the sensor , just take out the fuse which was between ignition and the parking sensor control unit. I never heard that beep again. As for the black push button with red led, It is to stop the beeps temporary if speaker keep beeping because of some obstacles too close or some other reason. BUT in my car why that looong beep and 2 short ones are heard after pressing heater's FRONT or AUTO button. Thinking the 12VOLT power connected to the Parking Sensor Main Unit just after the point where FRONT and AUTO button gets power. Instead it should get power just after switching ignition ON. Probably wrong cable connection. DG See the pdf manual of the parking sensor kit attached FBSN-4FD.pdf

  6. You know those horrible scuff marks on the plastic at the bottom of your seats, use one of these sponges with some degreaser/multi purpose cleaner and you'll get rid of most if not all of them. Don't overdo it with these as they can strip your trim back too far start out gently wipe off with a clean wrung out microfibre towel and some warm water. I also went gently round all my interior trim with one of these wiping off as I went. I was amazed how much dirt came out especially as I'd cleaned it all two days previously, or so I thought I had, it is now cleaner than I could ever have imagined! Lightly does it though as you don't want to damage anything. I'll now apply Gtechniq C5 to protect it I use an awful lot of their products as I find them excellent the best for me is C2 Liquid Crystal, you put it on ideally after polishing and it gives an incredible wet look and dispenses with the need for any wax and is easy to apply and lasts. Whilst I'm at it if your leather seats are looking dirty and tired try Leatherique rejuvenator and their Prestine clean. You will probably need to apply the rejuvenator a few times and it needs leaving on for 24 hours ideally but you'll be amazed at how it cleans and softens leather. If you've had a cheap spray job done on your seats in the past this may lift it exposing how poorly it was done. It's not an oil is mild and feeds the leather. How can it feed leather seats that are coated as they all are? Well the coating breaks down over time and thats how it gets in and also through the stitching. It really is a minefield in the leather products field but from what I've learnt don't use anything oil based what you need is once cleaned/conditioned is a protectant as that's what the coating is is put on the leather for protection, even the old leathers had varnish on them to protect them and when you conditioned them you were actually trying to hold the varnish together. I have no links to any of these products it's just my experiences with them.

  7. I bought a rand new rcf direct from dealer for £47k in July 16 (33 miles on clock) , they got me a deal , not sure what it was but there was 3 new ones available at this price from stock in England . i bought an azure blue and I have to say it is a fine piece of kit , sounds superb , handles really sharp and interior and technology is second to None , I don't get all these bad reviews!! anyway a two year old and a new baby forced my hand and the coupe was hard to get them in and out of and I traded in against a 2014 E63 5.5 twin turbo . I couldn't believe the difference! total dog of a car that tries to kill you every day! Can't get the power down , fells like it's moving in the corners , basic inside, no kit worth talking about that you wouldn't find on a insignia or equivalent and there is nothing about these motors that sets you aside or stands out from an E350d for example , unless your a petrol head or a Mercedes man you wouldn't telly eh difference apart from the v8 bi turbo stamp on the front wings. so today I finally got sick of it and went and. Ought my exact same car back from the dealer , I took it back of him for £45k still with only 6k miles , he liked it that much he drove it himself . its a beautiful motor that stands out , is powerful , and I just love it . i would recommend to anyone and I've had all sorts of performance cars through the last few years . RCF is a true v8 driving machine and don't listen to anyone day otherwise !! Go get one !

  10. The 12v in the hybrid only has, in normal operation, to power the entry system and start up the various ECUs. Once the hybrid system has started all electrical power is supplied by the traction battery and the 12v battery is recharged via the traction battery. I don't think the 12v is 'undersized' as such. The dual battery system in my CLS55 would only allow the audio system to operate for approx 30mins before shutting down. I guess it's just they way it's designed to operate. I don't believe installing a higher capacity would be make a difference or (just guessing) even advisable. The engine does cut in quite easily, especially during colder weather as the car is trying to maintain cabin temperature. I found (in my limited experience of owning a hybrid since Oct '16) that switching off the Climate system extends the time between engine starts. The down side is it gets cold quickly! That said the same will happen once in ACC mode..

  11. Lexus Bristol did what asked but as I always do with dealers. Picture of mileage and all four wheels. Car empty of all contents Struct instructions car not to leave site, if road test required contact me. Trust them ,yes up to a point but from long long experience of the motor trade, I also believe in protecting my investment, simple peeps 😂 Big Rat

  12. VXR8. My brother's father in law has a Supercharged one. It's unreal... Both the noise and the speed. Would have to put HSV badges on it though as Vauxhall are clearly French nowadays ;-)

  16. That or the V12 vantage have got to be my favourite looking car! I really wanted to own a V8 and thought I'll drive all of the usual stuff such as an M3, RS4,C63,XFR. The M3 was the only other one I really enjoyed driving but couldn't get over the image and how common they are. I probably would look at another Skyline GTR or even the new Civic Type R to be honest. Luckily the GSF and RCF are around so I might be able to move to them when the ISF has had it. I just love the engine too much

  17. Following an MOT test and service, an advisory was flagged up as to the high degree of corrosion on the fuel pipe (filler pipe) the service engineer (Carlisle Lexus) called me through to the work shop to point out the extent of the corrosion, and to be honest I was a bit shocked ( no mention of the deterioration in the previous MOT) consequently I took my RX 450h 2010 to my other very trusted service garage for a second opinion, and to my shock he confirmed what Lexus had pointed out. So my question is has any other member had occasion to replace corroded fuel filler pips? and the possible cost, and a car only 7 years old should show such corrosion. Keith D

  24. If i am correct there was a manual especially for the satnav system that was handed to me when i collected my car from the dealer. I only saw it once as i threw it in the bin not believing how heavy, long and boring this was, not sure how many pages but it looked like complete nonsense. If you need a manual the size of a telephone book to explain a satnav there must be something very wrong. Compared to a tomtom the userfriendlyness of the Lexus systems is shockingly bad, the graphics look incredibly outdated and in my case the navigation is not 100% thrustworthy ( directing me off the highway only to direct me immediately on it again drives me nuts). Matt i am fully with you, the entire system, costing 10 times more than a separate TomTom, is the absolute weakpoint of the car. Maybe ok for a bottom end Toyota but how oh how did this end up in any Lexus? The rest of the car is great by the way....

  27. I recently was shopping like yourself. In the end I kept my eye on autotrader. I fell luck as a '15 plate was traded in with a local Renault Garage. They were looking as passing it on quickly and I managed to pick it up for £22k with it having FSH at lexus and only 12K miles. Similar cars were coming in at about £25K+ at lexus dealers. Might be worth holding out to see if you can find something similar.

  29. @GibletPH A close friend is on his fourth XK/XKR he's had 2 4.2 and 2 5.0 his present one is probably one of the last made. Ive driven a few of these and his cars extensively, they are good very good, it's probably a car that many 'drivers ' don't really appreciate it for what it is bit like an ISF in that regard. His have been very reliable the 5.0's more so probably because they've ironed out any earlier issues and he drives as they were intended, he has experienced some handling issues with them, most the weight is at the front the tyres are very wide and in wet weather aquaplaining is something that has to be kept in mind. I got him up to advance driver level and just to prove the point on his final advance drive with the examiner whilst joining the M4 westbound at junction 18 the car aquaplained he fishtailed wildly twice without any warning but controlled it and there was no contact with anything 😳. None of this has taken away the ownership enjoyment of them for him, and you are right that supercharger is something else 😏 I think I would put one on my shortlist as well, and seriously putting all the Silver joking I do to one side for a moment they really do look right in this colour to my eyes. 30. As far as i am aware yes. It's also worth noting that Pagid make the brakes for AMGs so both decent pads. I am currently running ebc yellowstuff pads if you fancied something a bit different. A tad more but still less than a dealers price.

  31. Either of these two. Still want to own a XKR 5.0 at some point. That engine is an absolute peach and the supercharger whine is addictive.

  33. That's it a clicky drivers seat is that all, Matey's C63 up the road is back at the dealers list as long as a gibbons arm, I believe clicky seat on his is about item 384 on the list 😂 🐀

  35. Congratulations! They are addictive things. I looked at a lot and eventually settled for one with pretty low mileage and good service history, although I will need to get a passenger door painted at some point as it has had a ding and was not all that well repaired. Pretty hard to find a perfect one for a sane price these days.

  36. Just had the cam belt changes at Lexus Bolton, very friendly people, fixed price with no extras. On the drive home noticed that the economy had improved from before so a reset of the ISC was probably needed. On a second topic, will the techstream software carry out a hybrid battery check or do Lexus use a different piece of kit? Cheers Peter.

  37. In UK we are jealous of service guys in US are receiving.... Did you use Lexus or Toyota Dealership? If it is Lexus dealership they will provide courtesy car which will be Lexus, not necessary new model, but it is usually CT200h or IS300h, in my experience they are "used approved" cars dealership has for sale or demos, but always nearly new cars.. never had one with over 6k miles on the clock. 24h is this forum thing - instead of having standard tests drive with sales guy, you can instead ask for 24h tests drive and it makes sense to do it together with service. If you doing service with Toyota, then they would not provide Lexus obviously and 24h tests drive will not be an option, but at least in UK they would provide nearly new Toyota, be that Avensis or Yaris... or other compact model they have available. 10 years old Civic sounds like service you would expect in Somalia.. not Ireland. Just shows how much appreciation Lexus has for customers in niche markets

  39. I'm still feeling my way around. First chores were checking wheel nuts (why should I need a 6' bar on the brace to slacken the nuts ?), damn air guns ! Fluid levels, tyre pressures and safety stuff. It's on 55k miles with 6 service stamps from Lexus and it had the 60,000 service with plugs at 53,000 ! Had a day of good stuff today, changing the plates and giving it a wash. It's an easy vehicle to wash, but it's huge !! Here's a few pics.

  41. Very nice! I like all the little changes theyve made especially the screen and the knee pads. The naguri trim also looks very nice and undoubtedly feels much better than the machined stuff we get in the standard F-Sport (been told its coated with plastic hence it feels like plastic!) Im particularly fond of the interior because the white contrast definitely breaks up an all black interior! Be sure to let us know how you get on!

  42. Well car has arrived 2 weeks ahead of schedule at the dealer and in plenty time to beat the 1st April tax changes. The Naguri trim is very nice to the touch. Its a bit, well, erm, black, behold the DarthVaderMobile................

  43. Did a 250 mile round trip in car. Tom's filter is a bit more audible than standard. It's a shame it's hidden in the airbox as it's quite a nice piece of kit. Certainly not made car any slower which is good thing :-)

  45. I like Uniroyal Rainsport 3 tyres as they suit the GS very well. Very comfortable being fairly soft walled but still rated XL and grip well dry or wet. Next choice Goodyear Asymmetric 3. Much depends on the type of car. Ed

  46. I am pretty sure it's to switch off the parking sensors. I have a very similar button on my RX350 (but not in the same place) and this is what it does. I find the sensors bleep in the rain and when a motorbike overtakes me. Also sometimes randomly on motor ways. Apart from the rain which is a recognized feature of these sensors I assume bikes must have some electronic devices that trigger the ultrasonic sensor. They will be an aftermarket set as the original Lexus sensors only work at slow speeds. Your reversing sensors are probably switched on only when you select reverse so are not affected.
