  4. Getting back on topic, cracking choice. I've always had fun driving my brothers XFR. He's got a set of Mina backboxes on it and it sounds filthy! I'm still mucking about with 4 pots after the ISF went, the latest one is a little different - I do miss my ISF though, brilliant cars.

  6. Bought my IS200 6 and a half years ago which was in need of a new clutch. Since then, i've had the timing belt, water pump and ball joints replaced... Ohh and some new tyres. All other money spent has been on modifications. 6 M.O.T's 6 passed I'd rather spend the depreciation value of a new car, on an older car I own and modify it, that's just me. But we need people to keep buying new cars to help the economy even if it is a waste of money. I've had many tell me I need a new car, I ask why.. They say because mine is 15 years old. Ohh do you get a 'cool sticker' when driving a new car? I drive the car not the number plate! Going out in my 15 year old car now to drive and smile! :)

  8. Just finished my second tour of Scotland, incorporating the NC500, plus much more. Totaled 1,915 miles in a week. First time up there in the Lexus and it was great. Loved every minute... Well except when I was stuck behind camper vans!

  10. Just finished with Lexus UK. They say the recall is going ahead. I then complained that my nearest Lexus dealer refuses to fix the issue on the basis they don't have the parts. They took my VIN are registration details, opened a complaint, and said I would hear in 72 hours. We will see. The Lexus UK Twitter feed is good for this, if you don't mind the pictures of new cars being pushed at you all day.

  11. Haven't been able to get a video of beading with the hose pipe as it hasn't stopped raining but nipped out in the rain to get some photos of the beading just now. The fusso makes much smaller water droplets on the car than my previous waxes have (I'm guessing smaller beads are a good thing???) never been very up on beading but can certainly tell the car has protection on again compare to last week when the paint was essentially bare. 1 thing I have noticed with Fusso is just how glossy the paint "feels" HD Wax felt almost sticky compared, with the Fusso you hand just glides and slips off the panel Here is how the beading currently look under some drizzle:

  16. I went from a MK4 GS450h f sport to a RC-F the GS was a very nice car and in my option was a wolf in sheeps clothing. i only changed to the RC because I didn't need 4 doors and wanted a smaller car, as it turns out I think th RC is just as wide but a bit shorter. what I liked about the GS was the active suspension in normal mode it drove smoothly then when you put it in sports or sport plus things tightened up. The ride was then quite ferm, but at least you have the option which the RC hasn't, hence the change th the LC. the only thing was the CVT on the GS which was not a problem for me but this was the main complaint from reviewers. if I needed to go back to a 4 door car then the GS 450h would be my first choice.

  19. Hi, just wanted to say hello. I've been a Lexus owner for all of five weeks, a 2012 IS 250 which I managed to pick up with only 12,500 miles on it, and am loving the car, it is a real joy to drive. What made me buy a Lexus? Well, I was looking at other V6s, including the Insignia 2.8T, but believe it or not, with lower miles and a much better spec, the Lexus was actually cheaper than the Vauxhall! The spec of the Lexus, even though it is lower HP compared to the Insignia, made this a no-brainer. See you around the forums! Tim

  20. Just a quick hello to you all.πŸ˜™ I was here about 6 years ago when I was considering a RX400h. I didn't get one and have had two cars since and I'm back again, this time considering a 2012/13 RX450h. I would love a GS but need the space to pull a caravan and carry folding bikes. Hope to have the RX in the next 6 months and so the search begins πŸ˜€

  21. Hi all, Just wanted to introduce myself. I am Andy from Edinburgh / Motherwell, Scotland and I've just got myself a lovely Lexus IS300h Executive (pictures attached). It is a 14 plate with 14k miles on the clock and seems to be a great car. My previous car (still for sale) was a Mitsubishi Legnum VR4 Type S that I love but a change in circumstances meant that I needed to find something new and much more economical, hence the IS300h. I'll no doubt be around on the forums with questions about the car for you all but hopefully not too many actual problems to solve. Thanks Andy

  25. BTW, speaking of applicators, I used one of these yesterday.... ...and it was such a pleasure. It was especially useful at dipping into a sample-sized pot and no hand cramps whatsoever. It fitted really snugly over 3 fingers so no gripping the hell out of something you are scared to drop on the ground.

  26. Yeah, must admit, it is great value for money and should last an age. Been a user of Sonax BSD for a longtime, I think between the Fusso and Sonax, keeping the protection and finish sorted will be simple.

  27. That slippery feel is due to the PTFE silicon gubbins in the Fusso, and yeah, the beads can be really small and tightly-grouped. The ones that rest on the roof can almost look like a layer of frost from a distance. I find that the car stays cleaner between washes when Fusso is on top as the dirt and rainwater just rolls off the back of the car once you get moving, especially if you treat the rear window with something equally hydrophobic. When my car is "dirty", it's usually just the wheels and the top of the rear bumper that have any noticeable grime. Oh yeah, plus dead bugs at this time of year. Anyway, nice work on the detail. I was planning on doing the full works on my own car this week since I'm off work but the weather hasn't been kind, and doesn't look like getting much better in the coming days so I knocked that idea on the head and decided just to give my 3 months-old coat of Fusso a top-up. Yesterday afternoon was dry and calm so I accomplished this with a basic wash and then a layer of Dodo Juice Diamond White. It was only a 30ml sample pot I got but there's still enough left for another 3 coats easy, plus I think I'm sold on the idea of shelling out for a full-size tub now as I'm quite impressed. It went on and buffed-off very easily, and added some much-needed depth and shine to my silver paint, plus it has a delicious coconut smell!

  28. Looks great Robb Another thumbs-up here for Fusso Soft99. Did some research after seeing it mentioned on LOC by Rayaans and did the AMG and Corrado with it a couple of weeks ago. Considering the blistering sunshine I was applying it in, it went on, and buffed up, really really easily.

  29. Okay, I am back. I left for France and drove 880kms without any problems. Then the car sat for 2 days. Today 27/6/2017 the plan was to go to some shops 30kms away. After about 10 kms the loss of power and missfire cam back and to not be stuck in the middle of nowhere I turned round and slowly drove back to the house. Had a cup of coffee and then went to check the car. As before, it started and ran perfectly. This time i had more than half a tank of fuel, so i could rule that out and also no pressure built up in the tank. The last 2 times this has happened, the car has run faultless for many kms. So off on the journey to the shops again. This time made about 20kms trouble free, then it started jerking up and down the revs, so i pulled in to park and take a look, as i was parking it cut out completely. So I waited a few minutes and restarted, which it did, but held the idle at 1800rpm, i stopped and restarted 2 more times and the same thing. So i figured these were enough revs to make it back to the house where my tools were so i could take a better look. Long story short i made it back. Another cup of coffee and then back to check. Started and ran fine, so i deceided to take a closer look at the connectors. But first i unplugged one coil and founf the car wouldnt start, so plugged it back in and unplugged the other one. The same, wouldn't start, which makes me realise that before when i thought i had lost 4 cylinders, must be wrong as i would not have been able to start it. So while it was idling normal i looked at the vacuum lines and electrical plugs, When i touched the plug on the tps it cut out straight away. It restarted and then when i moved the plug about the idle would go up and down and the roughness would appear that i had before. So i removed the plug and checked the wire and terminals which all looked fine. but i cleaned them up anyway. Since refitting the car runs fine and no amount of wiggling causes the problem again. To the poimt if i unplug the tps while the engine is running the revs rise and when i plug it back in it goes back to 650rpm (at normal temp). So it looks like that may have been my problem all along. Tomorrow I try to reach the shops again and see what happens. If all is good, I may just order new tps and traction tps modules to be sure. I will let you know how it goes, I hope this is the answer and I would really like to end this post with FIXED IT! We will see and on one note, to date, I still haven't found the charcoal cannister. 30. Thanks Peter A lot of people have suggested tyres - its not that sort of shudder and noise I would associate to tyres but for the ease of checking it I will get this done in the next few days as theres an ATS near where I work. Regarding the associated noise - its a dull low down noise which I would expect from rubber hitting metal - the shudder it there in low speeds but you have to really know its there and listen/feel for it as its not that obvious. The garage is going to check all the moving joints that they think it could be coming from - easier for them as they can get it on a ramp to do this. One thing I did notice a while ago and I thought about it today, there was a feeling the back end was going out when cornering more than it should (when turning right), maybe associated to a worn drive shaft? or some other associated gearing?. How noisy would it be if it developed the noise first. I have the music on not loud but loud enough not to notice outside noise. Coming home today I put the car in N when I was stopped at lights and revved it a bit and it was very smooth - at the weekend I drove it on the motorway and placed it in N but the shudder still happened. Seems to indicate its while its being driven / moving under load that the shudder is happening - rules out a few things I guess, I am just hoping its not the torque converter else I am afraid it would be a scrapper as I would not really trust an indie to do this work in replacing gearbox parts to do the work on one of these cars and the dealer cost (I have not even considered)

  35. Hello Matt: I have got the lighters to work after checking them out, it was the small clips inside that had opened up a bit, so I used a small screwdriver covered in heat shrink and moved them in a bit, now they are working properly.

  37. I went from a 3rd gen GS450h to an ISF... GS was probably faster in many situations. The 370(?)bhp available nearly instantly and the acceleration on the motorway was stunning. The ISF is more nimble and faster only once wound up above 4-5000rpm... Both are great cars, ISF has more 'character' though, imo. I'd buy my old GS back in a heartbeat and own both if I could!

  38. Have you checked it's actually connected? I had the same issue and it was just unplugged. Someone had removed the trim at some point and forgotten to reconnect it. Easily done. Also easy to check. First, does the light inside the ashtray work when your headlights are on? If so its probably the fused holder (in the socket itself) as a they tend to go. If not then the whole unit isn't getting power so check the connection. The wood trim just pops off if you lever it up using a screwdriver with some tape on the end to protect against damage. There's a small clip that connects the lighter to the car. Hope that helps

  42. G60, tuned to approx. 240bhp. 350s/370 were probably on a par in the twisties, but they didn't stand a chance on the straights, and couldn't brake as late. I didn't think the IS-F would be as good in the corners, but I was really surprised. So much grip and gave me lots of confidence.

  45. Hi Mel. The GS460 and the LS460 share the same 1UR engine but I was interested to learn they aren't quite the same. A V8 GS with 375 bhp would have been very nice and lighter than the LS but the GS had a little less power at 342 bhp. I bet it still gets to 60 in around 5 seconds.

  46. Just want to start this by saying a huge thank you to Rayaans who provided most the knowledge for this routine and recommended most of the products, top advice thanks If any of you have noticed I have spent the last 2 weeks purchasing and using products to do a major details, so the last 2 weeks I have been removing waxes and getting the paintwork completely clean and bare ready for today. Nice early start got to work for 7am. After a final wash the car looked something like this: Then it was a complete dry and mask ready for machine polishing, you will notice my car was far from bad condition before I started, but I wanted to give it that extra bit of wow factor you get after a proper detail Before polishing: And 7 hours later after 5 hours of machine polishing and 2 hours of Fusso soft 99 triple application she looked something like this: Couple of close ups: And 1 for good luck just because I love the look of my car from this distant angle: Anyone thinking of trying Fusso Soft99 it really does seem as good as all the hype it gets and another top tip given by Rayaans was the IPA which makes polish removal not only easier but so much more clinical you can confidently say no scratches are coming back as what you see is what you get no fillers used and you know the bare paint in ready to have the Fusso sealant applied with no contaminants between the wax and the paint This was one of those jobs I was dreading and once I was about 3 hours in really started to wonder if it was really worth all the time and effort but now it’s done I’m so glad its sorted and looks fantastic, nice and simple to keep clean and looks great with weekly washes. I will upload a beading video soon as requested but may take a day or 2 as need to spend some time with the little nipper over the weekend now, fortunately I got chance to write this as she’s taking a nap he he

  50. I agree with this, investments cars are NOT, even Classics can be costly to maintain especially, and you're lucky if they appreciate more than they cost " all-up " property portfolios, well, unless you're a professional with a suitable sized portfolio I would question the rewards ( after tax ) outweighing the grief ( from poor tenants etc ) other " investments " well ... buyer beware, values do go up AND down too. NEW CARS a crap way to invest imho ............. good and well considered used cars can be brilliant to run, rarely in the garage for repairs, less technology to go " pop " and can be minimal cost to purchase, often from spare cash that's earning zero interest anyway ! Amongst other jobs/ careers I was a used car dealer for 10 years following being a let property owner and a career City banker. I have by choice NOT bought myself ( with cash ) a new Lexus or any other marque, nor would I. I couldn't be arsed having to spend so much time in the garage/main dealer getting things " fixed " I'm retired, started a new business ( 2 years now ) and happily running my brilliant used cars ............ brand new cars are for companies with tax sparing capacity and personally, the thought of using monthly payments that just cover depreciation, blimey, why would you want to just throw away all that depreciation in your hard earned cash. Hope I'm not too " off the ball " here ... maybe I'm just "old" with different life values eh Malc
