Well I'm sorry to say, and I am because I have loved every minute of ownership of my isF but she's gone a year or so earlier than I planned but with big 60 on Monday Mrs Rat said "Go for it treat yourself " bless her. So left early this morning with a list of 3 RcF's to view Hatfield- Swindon - and Cheltenham, leaving Cheltenham to last as it's nearer home and that's where I bought a great deal IMO and a fantastic car pictures below not good it was getting dark by then. Thanks for all the help at Lexus Cheltenham Alex Ben Karl and Tim. I want to say that the journey from Isf on this forum to the RcF isn't only about the cars for me it's about the people on here a considerable number I'm pleased to call friends and I have had some great support and advice about an assortment of matters from you I'm naming no one there are to many, I don't care if this sounds a tad odd to some who may read this but I like being on here and the banter and personalities make this place the cars are a secondary issue whatever model age colour and so on you drive cheers guys 👍 Some will be horrified I bought something that isn't SILVER 😳 Big Rat5 points

Hi All, After 8 years on the IS forum, I have finally moved on to a 2014 GS450H. Picking up next Tuesday week - no photos yet unfortunately and the ad has been taken down already. I will put some up when I get the car. As with every car I've ever owned, it's black on black. Very exciting, I know! It ticks most of the boxes for me. It's an F Sport but missing the front fogs and doesn't have the larger screen unfortunately. Has a sunroof which is a nice addition. Anyway, just looking for some general thoughts or advice. Will be looking to add the fog light kit and would love to do something about the hybrid badges beside the rear wheel arches (for some reason they look addly placed to me!). I have an iPod that goes everywhere with me. It's quite large in size (240GB) and not sure if it will work with the GS. Has anyone tried? Thanks in advance1 point

Congratulations Paul, ‘Kitt’ looks very nice indeed. Hope they gave you a good deal on the ISF. Enjoy the new car 👍 matt1 point

Congratulations, now at least you won't be mistaken for an Avensis (grenade launched )1 point

Great buy. You will love it. I’ll never forget my time around the Ascari circuit in a RCF. You can really throw these around. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Lexus Cheltenham, wouldn't trust that lot...........Oh wait................... Congratulations mate, no doubt you will love your new purchase, I would imagine you will miss the Isf as me and @Flytvr did, great car, wrong colour and not as good as a GSF obviously................................1 point

Absolutely! You must have a very understanding partner, mine would not let me get away with car parts in the kitchen!1 point

Cracked on today with the head, i cleaned this at work last weekend to make this job less messy. Took a couple of snaps before i started. plan was to completly strip so i can get this to the machine shop for a skim, so i removed the collets, valve caps and springs. Then made sure i removed the valve spring washers and pulled all the stem seals out. all done, need to find somewhere now to do the skim and also thinking of having a 3 or 5 angle valve job done. Also will be sending the valve covers away for powder coating im thinking of going orange as i would like a black/orange theme going on but this idea may change with the wind. Will soon be ordering an adjustable exhaust gear too thinking of going for either titan or power house racing so i can get the head, cams and belt fitted. Coming together nicely now, really enjoying this build, hope you guys enjoying reading/seeing it too1 point

In fact, it’s looking very BLACK and GRAY in the Cotswolds.1 point

Mark, I’m in an awkward position here. I know what it was like when SOMEBODY spouted the news on here about my RCF purchase. That person told everyone I’d bought it from Lexus Stoke etc. So, there’s no way I’d do the same thing to Ratty......... Anyway, I hope his test drive went well. The weather here in the COTSWOLDS is awful 😜1 point

UPDATE: Took out the back seats. The cap of the suspension strut (from which the squeak was coming from) had a dent in it. Took the cap off and wondered if the strut was traveling too high... - i.e. suspension somehow f****d. Took the cap off the other side to compare. Noticed that the plastic sensor thing at the top of the strut was the wrong way round. The problem one had been replaced by Lexus before I brought the car. So; turned around the plastic sensor, - test drive - squeak gone. The plastic sensor is higher at one high than the other. Best outcome really - very very happy.1 point

I'd really like to see a 3rd gen IS300H wirh a boot spoiler. Think a Google search is on the agenda. I can see one making the car look even better.1 point

Obviously the other MoT guy did as well. The English language can be a real minefield but if I understand it correctly the three items are referred to as the "owners" of the securing device. Someone with more detailed language skills may be able to clarify. Regardless of all this dialog, it does not change the point of my original post - the parts are available at an affordable price should you choose to fit them.1 point
-
I think that refers to a real backplate, used on drum brakes to hold the brake components in place. If you don't have any brake components actually mounted to the plate then it is really just a splash guard. An MOT tester may not be able to easily tell if it is one or the other so just assumes it is a backplate if it is in place.1 point

quite nice looking externally in Aspen Green ................ but please don't think all Ls400 Mk3 owners are screwball ..... I'd only want £8500 for mine with a derisory 203k miles on it Malc1 point

Thanks for the very prompt replies so far. i must admit that the thought of the added features such as the power tailgate sound great but then for the last .20 years I haven't had one and it's not been a problem and I think I've only used front fog lamps about three times and I can't say I felt they made much difference. I will have to seriously think about what is important. Intrigued by the saving Stevet managed to get!1 point

Couldn't agree more, best colour also. (P.s. thanks for putting the value of my car up!! Haha)1 point

@Toby99 Hi Toby thanx for post really pleased no serious lasting injuries, it was me that started the thread the car is one that has lots of pictures on line and one or two videos, yes she was a beauty. Big Rat1 point

I am glad you both got out without too much in the way of injuries. I bet your feeling battered and bruised today. As for the car what a shame. That colour really suited the car.1 point

The main thing is you were all ok,......cars can be replaced......although from personal experience they’re never the same 😔....... Paul1 point

Not got an FSport but on a 2011 SE-I mine is around £550 for business use. Post codes can make a vast difference.. a friend of mine near Manchester tired it with his Goldwing and keeping everything the same the quote for his was more than double that using my post code.1 point

I paid £465 on my 3RX almost every year after the 2nd year. The first year it was £560 or something. I had mine down for 10k miles, 3k of those were business miles and a tracker. Fully comprehensive of course and excess was usually around £500-6001 point
-
True, but that takes at least 20 minutes and you get follow-up calls and/or emails, which is a lot more hassle than you folks on here just typing four characters such as £542...£673...£367...etc and me just averaging the results1 point

Agreed. All the points are good. Too many dodgy hid installations. If someone really wants hid they should get the correct headlight housing for it. Brake fluid testing I think is way over due and is a very good thing.1 point
-
The HID thing is good. Too many vehicles with excessively bright HID lights which are obviously not factory fitted. Reverse lights make sense and it is a safety issue if cars dont have this IMO, same with brake fluid checks which I presume will allow testers to open up the cap I welcome these changes. There's nothing there which would make me think - why is that there?1 point
