Thats just a minor detail, at my age you take what you can get.

I don't really have many pics of the car just yet just this one I took just after my 2nd jab today at Batchwood Hall:

I didnt find the gearbox as unnatural as a lot of journo's make out. Its very smooth and suits the character of the car. I was surprised by how much the car follows the camber of the road, especially under braking. I initially mistook it for wheel alignment until I noticed it in both directions. So much so that I had to call future brother-in-law (who also owns a GS) to see if this was normal. Turns out it is- has anyone else noticed this? I think youre right about the feedback the car gives you. Certainly in the BMW there's a better feeling through the steering wheel as to what is going on with the wheels. I found the Lexus to be a bit more vague but its equally as competent. I didnt get chance (or really have the inclination) to floor it so I'm yet to really see how quick they are. I do recall getting up to motorway speeds was a complete non-event. The car wasn't phased in the slightest. No increase in engine noise and only a slight increase in noise from the Bridgstone potenzas its wearing. Thank you very much guys. Its a nebula grey pearl with 47k on the clock. I'm picking her up next week after she's had a service at Lexus. Will post plenty of photos then.

Turns out the answer to the original question was yes. Very happy to say I put a deposit on a 2012 GS450H F Sport yesterday after a test drive. Everything you guys mentioned turned out to be correct. I really appreciated the quiet confidence of the car and the overall comfort. Ill take a hit on equivalent boot space and maybe some in cabin features like Android Auto but tell the truth the overall package is extremely compelling. Very excited for collection.

Up-Date 1. After c.400 miles of relativity short trips the mpg remains in the low 40's. 2.The Factory fitted ACP is slicker to operate than the Dealer fit & Siri is super efficient for destinations & phone calls. 3.The AVS is softer in D-mode which results in having to slow right down when driving over National Trust roads & fields. 4.Jetting to Worcester this week-end which is 99% motorway & will be interested if the improved economy holds. ok so the plugs fitted today and oil and filter carried out and while she was in bits I cleaned the inlet manifold and throttle body , quick inspect of the backs of the valves that I could see and they had minimal carbon on them so happy put her back together reset ECU by removing ects and efi fuse quick road test feels very smooth and tick over a rock steady 700rpm.

Am a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to interiors. However I rather like that 🙂 Enjoy the GS250. Realistically, the last chance at owning a newish design that's a traditional NA 6 cyl comfy cruiser. The last in line really.

Fluid is expelled from your transmission using a cooler line flushing machine or a pump inlet. The transmission pan is inspected and cleaned, the filter replaced. A complete batch of new, pure ATF is added. Definately did the first option as there was no fluid/cleaner being pumped in to is using the machine. And this is the reason why only 5l was put in cos I am sure a flush would pull out 1 litre or 2 more at least.

Looks fantastically clean. Egg grate grill too. I would love to find a top CD spec one but not many around. Getting rare now as last 940 was 1998. Trim specs can be all over the place from poverty spec or all bits used up on last of the line. James👍

The units are meant to be sealed so moisture doesn't get in. Drilling a hole could just make it worse - yes it might allow what is there to dry out but the next rainy day you are just going to get more moisture in there which will over time cause issues with the chrome plating. Best to remove from the car, put in the oven, break open the seal and reseal with silicon adhesive/sealant.

According to Toyota their first cars with solid state battery systems will be on sale in 2022.

Anything to do with the pedestrian active bonnet? Maybe it's been activated and not correctly reset?

Thanks.👍 Think what would I replace it with if damaged/written off and always think I'd buy another 940. Seems to be rising price wise. It still puts a smile on my face driving it. It's got character! Volvo got the Auto AW70 gearbox and low pressure turbo just right. Virtually no turbo lag! Very modifiable by adding a Manual boost controller to make it into a HPT model. 135BHP to 165HP. If you fit bigger exhaust, chips, turbo 250HP. James👍

No it shouldn’t lift. Is this towards the back (nearest the windscreen)? if so there are usually a couple of hooks at the back of bonnets make sure those are there and working properly

Currently just shy of 62k. Back in Nov 2019, traded in my Toyota Avensis for a NX. At the time I was travelling quite a bit for work, doing 15k business miles so I was going to use the CT. Purchased a service plan based on the mileage covering 5 services. Along comes the pandemic and all that planning goes out the window. In 2020 done 3.5k, most of that was done in Jan & Feb 20. Home based now with minimal business travel so by April 2022 I will have paid for servicing the CT until 2024

Aware I’m reviving an older thread, but over the past three weeks I’ve done about 2,000 motorway miles. I’ve actually found the NX to be almost the perfect companion in this context, because; 1. It cruises at 70-75mph effortlessly, and it is supremely quiet. My new Avon tyres have helped in this regard, and I’m happy to say they are exceptional. 2. An NX remains the most comfortable car I’ve ever had. The seats offer just the right amount of support whilst not being too hard, and the armrests are in the perfect place for me! 3. Radar cruise control and lane assist work very well, taking even more stress out of longer journeys. 4. The in-car audio provides good sound quality. I fully accept that the NX isn’t the quickest car, but as long as you build speed gradually and then maintain it using the cruise control you shouldn’t need to accelerate quickly. Even then, if you need to I’ve found a gentle and gradual press of the accelerator gives swift progress from 70-80mph without any fuss or drama.

Have been living 20km south of Amsterdam. Never was in the red light area, never was in one of the famous coffee shops. Must be a boring person.

Hi @Andy B - I contacted cr@lexus.co.uk to add my missing 70K service and they have just got back to me and added it correctly into my Lexus Link car service profile - thanks for the suggestion of emailing them - fixed the small annoyance I had when it disappeared after an update to the system.

If the ECU has been cleared, purposely to remove error codes or by a flat battery, then they won't be able to complete a hybrid health check. They rely on the system doing an element of self-diagnosis which periodically takes place and will store pending or real error codes which the health check will read. The 600km distance is to ensure (as much as possible) that all conditions and tests would have been completed. This is the same for all Lexus and Toyota vehicles at any dealer - the software they use won't complete if the distance after reset isn't above the minimum limit.

MikeTW, Welcome. Vlad and David have given sound sensible contributions as usual. I would ask you if you are ready for a Lexus ? It is a world away from any German car and possesses characteristics that are welcomed by some and despised by others. You really must test drive several models and decide for yourself. My GS 450h is now 11 years old and been mine for nearly 9. It has covered 63,000 miles and averaged 35 mpg according to the on board computer. It will do 0-60 in 5.9 secs and is Limited to 155mph. If that is the sort of performance you require, I advise you to buy another BMW. Lexus owner`s behaviour is influenced by the car! I have a Service Plan which costs £34 per month. If you have yours serviced by Lexus, they will then give you 12 months warranty cover on both the car and its Hybrid Battery. The warranty on the car will/can last until 100,000 miles or 10 years since first registration. The warranty on the car can last for 15 years. Is Lexus reliable? Yes it is Does it have the sort of performance you are used to ? No it won`t. Do I really want an automatic that`s unlike any other automatic ? Take a Test Drive and find out. Hi Mike. I'd forget the GS450H if boot space is important. Great car but let down only by the boot. RX450H is what you should be thinking of. HUGE boot same engine comfy as comfy can be. Great luxury reliable car. Neither car will be as fuel efficient as your 330d so be prepared for about 50 - 60% of what your beemer does, over an average.

Welcomer Glen, How did you miss the 89 quake? A friend had all but completed buying a house when the quake struck and the prospective house slid some way down the hill. John

Funnily enough, mine is going in for a replacement transmission oil pump in a few weeks. The technician said it was a little noisy and would probably last a while yet, but the warranty company agreed to change it anyway. For reference, mine has 98,000 miles on it, which is perhaps higher than a majority of the Mk4 GS's out there.
