Does it sound like the UFO noise when a car was featured in the puppet show? Yes, it's most likely the Warning noise as mentioned. Mine stops around 15mph I think. I hear my wife coming home from about 100 yards away as her Yaris also creates this noise. It gives me chance to look busy when she arrives!

Just a warning to all on the Lexus UK Forums. Opened my email this morning and had got two emails to say there was a reply to a post I had been replying to. I did open the email but luckily didn't open the link as I noticed it had come through at 2.31 am in the morning and it was from wizzy millions. So went straight to the forum , signed in and there were no replies. So please be careful forum members as you could not tell the difference just looking at the email listings, usually there is a dash or full stop in the Lexus owners club title but even the Icon was identical to past notifications. Hope no one else has had this happen. Neilj

I believe that the reason the PHEV has a large 30% reserve for the traction battery is because the PHEV has a total power output of 302 BHP created from the engine and an electric motor on each axle. When you floor the accelerator etc this demands full or nearly full power output, which means the traction battery will be able to provide the necessary power to the motors even if you have zero EV miles available. If you drive the car very hard with just the 30% reserve it is possible to see the reserve drop below 30% if the engine hasn't been able to maintain it because of driver demand. However, the car is clever enough not to let the driver deplete this reserve by too much by limiting BHP regardless of how heavy footed you are.

The emails were legitimate as there was a reply to a thread you were subscribed to. However, the reply itself was spam which was then removed once wizzy millions' account was marked as a spammer, hence you didn't see it. There were many threads affected by spam last night, two of which you must have been subscribed to.

I'm helping my son look for a car he can use for long commutes between Dubai and Abu Dhabi and I'm delighted that he's only looking at LS400s. Current contender looks great, getting it mechanically checked out, the only downside is I suspect it has probably been clocked twice, but its not the end of the world. I'll also post photos of another one, which has an interesting interior that i suspect will polarise opinions on this forum.

Severe damage to my UX tailgate after rear shunt necessitated a replacement rear view camera. Four weeks in local body shop with faultless repair carried out with the exception of the new camera failing to display the yellow/blue guide lines. Subcontractors used by repair shop, who do all their techie work, attempted on three occasions to resolve and failed every time and on 2nd attempt drained my 12 volt battery decided on a fourth attempt because the specialist tools were not available to them. Very frustrated I decided to take the matter into my own hands, did a Youtube search on “Disappearing guide lines rear view camera” and found a 3.5 minute video on the subject showing a 2019 Lexus ES with identical tracker pad etc as my UX (l also contacted Lexus dealership who quoted £150 to resolve) I followed the Youtube instructions and got it working within 5 minutes. I mention this because others my find the procedure helpful this would appear to be a “backdoor” approach to gain access to the menus structure should they need to anytime. It’s unbelievably simple to gain access. Process…Start the engine and whilst HOLDING down the MENU button next to tracker turn ON/OFF parking/headlights toggle 3 times (video says 4 times but 3 times aslo worked) Use service menu at your own risk.

Question: why can't the Forum filter out scam e mails which quote a genuine thread title and are sent to members who either created the Post or contributed to the post thereby being included in the e mail going to members e mail addresses when clearly the content to the Post via the Lexus Forum is actually offering fake documents and fake currency for cash. I accept the internet is the conduit for scammers to gain access to members but of late this seems to be more and more common even though deletion is the obvious fix. Do Moderators and Forum Staff not see these scam e mails? I deleted 6 today all with different thread titles that were all originally a legitimate post and ones I contributed to at some point. Now I just delete all Forum e mails and sign in to read the latest posts.

Hi Adomas and welcome to the LOC. Personally I wouldn’t fit them and they probably wouldn’t even align with the studs being 2.4mm out. ”Wobble nuts” and wheels aren’t a good proposition. You could get hub adaptors but again I wouldn’t simply on safety grounds, I like to know my wheels are secure and the correct type of nuts are torqued to 76 lb/ft

Brilliant idea to have a list of this information on the forum for all to peruse. I paid £600 last year with LV=, but they wrote to me this year to say Lexus RXs weren't worth their while since winning the "second most stolen" award and so LV= refused to quote. Due for renewal on April Fool's Day (just my luck!) I began the search three weeks ago - in line with the Money Saving Expert's view that this was the sweet spot time to seek renewal, Best offer came back from comparison sites at £1,380, and next suggestion was about a grand more. So I popped a call in to Adrian Flux, where a charming chap went out and beat up a few brokers to get me £1,211 fully comp with Axa. Took a deep breath and justified it on the basis that this year I escape the 5-year tax surcharge (well nearly justified it anyway....) Took a serene drive to soothe the rattled nerves & blood pressure is now almost back to normal. Good luck to those still seeking insurance for the coming year.

One of the mods did spot this first thing this morning. It's very difficult to identify these posts automatically. We do have other meaures in place such as members outside the UK registering but they are using fresh gmail accounts and VPN ip addresses that show them from the UK, but looking at their timezone they are from Lagos. Trust me we do filter a lot of stuff and usually posts are filtered to new members, but the clever part is they post non scammy information to bypass the new post limits, so they get through. We don't want to try and inspect every post as many members are legit, it's just the new members we inspect the first few posts. Last 7 days we have cleaned over 1000 attempted spammy sign-ups and 107 were allowed, you can see the level we have to deal with. Colin is like lightning when it comes to banning them out. if the emails are too much you can reduce them to once every 24 hours and you can get a digest of the day.

Might I suggest having a good look [when the old windscreen is removed] and noting where any dash clips are located. There may even be some that look like a wee roll of felt or 6mm foam that may have been fitted at a later date to stop the 'dashboard rattle' that so many spoke of a few years back. Perhaps take a few photos for reference. Found the pic below in my info folder ... it may be of use. Also, check that the rain sensor for the wipers is working, they will need to bond the pad to the screen so that all is held securely. A watering can will start the necessary action!

Yes as pressing the bushes out would need specialist equipment and for me it was easier to remove the arm and replace it and by the time you pay someone to change the bushes it was cheaper for me to change them

@Banbury23 True, you have a valid point. Its how they deal with mistakes what counts.

My understanding is that, as you say, the traction battery retains about 30% of its charge. There are good reasons for this but 30% does seem on the conservative side to me. I would prefer the app showed the percentage of usable charge; 100% when fully charged and 0% when there was no usable range left but it's not a big deal. Same is true of the dash display; if I can't have/use the last 30%, then don't show it. True of the fuel tank too; if it's full to the top, I want to see all the bars in the green and for the number of bars to reduce proportionally until the tank is empty. Then I can be clear and know that if it gets to one remaining bar, I need to start looking for a petrol station. Toyota/Lexus conservatism is annoying here; as another thread has shown, owners have found that there is often still a significant amount of fuel left in reserve when the dash would have you believe that the car is in imminent danger of running out of fuel and being stranded. Estimates on the dash display and the app cannot be calculated in the same way. My dash has been showing an EV range of between 71km and 73km for weeks now whereas the app has been gradually creeping up by 0.2 or so without a/c and 0.3 with a/c over the same period. However, to be honest, I just let the car get on with it; if the fuel looks low, I top it up, if the battery needs charging, I charge it - a bit like the olden days before we had these fancy apps! I know that if I drive gently, I get more mpg or battery miles, if I drive more aggressively my £ doesn't take me as far and I don't need an app (or a home smart meter) to tell me that.

It does not affect NDC, but it is counted as any other claim on your policy, insurance company will never tell you how it would affect your policy. So you can simply go to make a quote, making 1 declaring claim and other one without and see the difference. The rule of thumb ~30% increase for next 3 years. Usually they include moulding around the windscreen, but it is questionable quality and not colour matched, just matte black plastic. As I had black car that was fine for me. As above - they usually do, most of the time mouldings break when they remove them and clips ALWAYS break, so it is kind of impossible to replace windscreen without replacing them. Water ingress and noise should be alright, they doing those windows every day, so I am sure they know what they are doing. In my case automatic wiper also worked just fine, but one thing that didn't work was windscreen heater. To be fair they gave lifetime warranty for work and guy came like year later to check it and told me that if I want I can book replacement, but to be honest I never bothered to replace screen again just because of windscreen heater.

There is a lpg app called myLPG.eu which enables you to search for the nearest lpg filling stations in particular areas. I have found it easy to use and very helpful.

I am currently in Japan where Toyota is King and none of their cars have the pedestrian warning sound. They have some amazing London taxi lookalike Toyotas and great mini vans too 😀 It’s weird now that new electric and hybrid cars are louder than modern petrols at low speed which are virtually silent yet need no artificial warning sound 🤔

That would alert pedestrians for sure. It’s only in our luvvy snowflake society that not getting run over isn’t part of looking what you’re doing. Another legacy from the USA were no doubt litigation was brought against a silent car. My dealer calls it “the voice of angels” but I’m afraid of scaring my neighbours when I return from work after midnight. Sounds like ghosties wailing! 👻

It’s a noise generator Roger that is a legal requirement. You can’t switch it off I’m afraid. All electric cars have to do it including Hybrids running on electric up to a certain speed.

Just to knowledge share, Lexus Sheffield charge £650 for cambelt and water pump now due to increased costs.

Thanks Wizzy but if you don’t sell fitted cambelts and water pumps to a SC430 for less than £650 I ain’t interested.

That is a part number for the CT200h, some of which have steel wheels. Surely your IS250 has alloy wheels and so does not need wheel covers?

You are not alone in thinking along these lines. There is a distinct feeling that there is some underhand hidden agenda at play with these ridiculous insurance price hikes. It's all a bit fishy, and expensive too. My standing charges ( Ins, tax, etc ) stand at £3K per year for very low miles = not practical or worthwhile. Maybe their logic; Drive some cars off the road with extortionate prices. = Less pollution = fewer customers paying higher prices = less risk =more profits = rich ripoff insurance companies get richer. The other knock -on effect is: More uninsured drivers, less service/maintenance done to cars = less profits for dealers = higher charges to compensate and so on. I think I just had a logic meltdown.🤭

Hi Kalpesh. How are you getting on with your new car? Simple answer for you is go for 17 inch wheels. If it's comfort you want then 17's is the way to go.

Yeah... that will be complicated. But you can look-up cars with similar size wheels and somewhat guestimate the ballpark. I can say ~40PSI sounds about right. For example Lexus RC runs 235/40R19 in the front and 35PSI, 225 will have lower load rating, so will require few more PSI, so yes ~40PSI should do. But really one can only provide you with educated guess at best. You will need to try it yourself, see what you like (too hard or too soft), check the tyre wear, to see if they wearing more in the middle (overinflated) or both sides (under inflated) and adjust from there. Basically, what I am saying - you can only do it by feel, trial and error. That is short answer. My guess would be something like 35-38 (front/rear). If you actually want to calculate the load, then there is calculator, but the problem is that it doesn't give you correct ratings most of the time https://tiresize.com/pressure-calculator/ e.g. standard IS250 R17 tyres have load rating of 90, but calculator only gives rating for 91 or 94, so your calculated rating and PSI will be also wrong e.g. in this case if you choose 91, it will say you need to inflate new tyres to 40PSI or if you choose 94, then it will say correct pressure for new tyre should be 38PSI As such you can also refer to Load inflation tables e.g. here https://www.toyotires.com/media/pxcjubjs/application_of_load_inflation_tables_20200723.pdf (p34 - it is in lbs, so divide by 2.2 for kg). To calculate the safe pressure you will need to know your tyre load rating, your car curb weight and weight distribution for your car (most of the times tyres have loads of headroom, to save you the headache, safe rating for IS250 would be 23PSI front and 22PSI rear). However, if you just want comparable pressure to OEM sizes, then you just take OEM load rating and PSI, check what it requires e.g. IS250 standard pressures for 225/45R17 is 36PSI, standard load rating is 90 and according to load table they expecting the tyre to hold 1179lbs, 225/40R19 has load rating of 93, meaning to match OEM you only need 33-34PSI. The rear is different story - IS250 has way way way overrated tyres for rear... 245/45R17 with 95 load rating and 38PSI, so if we go by what Lexus is suggesting, then you would need to match 1389lbs which would require 41PSI on 93 rated tyres.

Hey, its been a while.... not alot has changed tbh. I spent the whole of last year just enjoying it and going to shows. Actually won an award at an Exclusive JDM show which was a proud moment, all the hard work over the years payed off. Did another Exclusive JDM show at Sturgate straight and managed to really stretch its legs, 1st time launching the car and using the 2step properly. Absolutely loved it! Hi Andrew, it is normally only active in S+ mode, but you can make it active in Custom mode too if you wanted to use it, say in Normal mode without the increased throttle response etc. Custom mode is accessed by pressing the mode knob. HTH

Yep that's my view but saying that they were supposed to call me back today about fitting the wrong tyre and I've heard nothing. Will have to chase them up tomorrow which I didn't expect to have to do with Lexus
