That's the result from years of efforts of the BMW marketing machine. Everyone knows what the M3/M4 is/are. Lexus are not in that league, not in the UK anyway. In the US the car buying public are much more aufait with Lexus products, they see them as high-end luxury cars. I don't mind, I like some anonymity. I had an Alpina 3 series a couple of years ago, no-one new what that was. Most thought it just another BMW. I quite like that too. When I feel the need to shout my success from the rooftops, I'll get another M3/M4 😉2 points

My car was parked next to @Warrington guy‘s M4 the other day. As we walked away from the cars, I said to Dave, “Whicb car is going to get the more attention?” We both agreed it was the F car (despite the M4 leaking oil and smoking)2 points

Don't get me wrong.... My BMW ownership of a 335i was nothing less than horrific. Just really enjoyed driving this today. Was something "different" I got back in my ISF and took the long way home and suffice to say I still adore her. I am interested to see what my friend has to say when he hands the keys back to the M4 next week and gets back in his ISF. It's kind of like wife swap I suppose. Spend a week with a crazy pornstar who you know will ruin you in the end but fun in small doses before returning to Nigella Lawson for a softer yet still fun experience 😉2 points

Ok, just for fun, you are at the "Ring" in your Isf--Rcf--Gsf and you follow this van onto the track, now I know what would be going through my mind but how long do you think you could hang onto the van, or do you think you could pass it...…………...hypothetical, I know...………..1 point

Some of you may remember I posted up pictures of my Rcf a month or so ago having had the wheels refurbed and finished in Matt black and the calliper repainted in Brembo Yellow. Well there was a paint reaction issue with callipers which necessitated it going back to Lexus Cheltenham for them to be removed and sent off again to be done, to cut a long story short unfortunately in the paint removal process used all four callipers received damage to the piston seats. A decision was made to simply supply and fit all new callipers and pads at Lexus expense rather to attempt further work to rectify as all reading this can imagine this is not exactly cheap. It is to the credit of all concerned at the dealership DP Tim Huxley, Service Manager Sam Holdway and techie Paul for resolving the matter for me, I was also giving the choice of OEM Rcf Black as per the Originals or the Orange from a GSF, I went with the Orange. For those who didn’t know the part numbers are exactly the same for all components with just the paint code that differs, I’m immensely pleased with the work and the look. Big Rat1 point

Just a phone snap of my wheels parked up in the Ordesa Valley Monte Perido National park in Spain. Everything that is right in life can be seen in this snap. Great scenery, great weather, good car and camera lurking [emoji6] Needless to say the cars been great on the journey down via the Alps, Dordogne and French Pyrenees over the last week. Yeah, I did the same reading and used Mobil ATF 3309 on my RX350 last year to freshen the box fluid up. No hassles at all to report. Saved a bit of cash in the process too.1 point
-
The CVTs are too. Aisin is a Toyota company, founded by the same person that founded Toyota. A somewhat similar story to Denso who Toyota also own. The Mobil fluid is probably a bit cheaper, but they are both expensive. If you are going to get Toyota to change the fluid then they would have easier access to T-IV as it is used on older Landcruiser models etc.1 point

I recommend just using isopropyl alcohol but others work well. Same procedure as below, MAF just in a different location.1 point

Seems like Lexus have had a change of heart on dash cams. Just as POBrown states, there's a package available for £275. I was sent the attached PDF by my local dealer. Seems like something they'll all do. Dash Cam.pdf1 point

Goes like stink as well! ‘Gray’ (as @emjay82 is known) is the only man that can keep up with fellow F drivers whilst he’s driven a Lexus NX! Impressive!1 point

It may just be worth asking them how it's done and what's needed though as it's something they do all the time.1 point

I found the Proslip grease set http://proslip.com very handy. Should be discount to LOC members too. (No connection, just satisfied customer.) John1 point

Not a bad price. I am not saying you will need rear shoes , but it would be prudent to either have some at hand or at leased be able to pick some up at short notice if they are required. From memory they are circa £25 for the set, and Ferodo do them. Take a picture of how the springs fit if you do need to change them as this will tell you which springs go in which holes, and what way round. The saving is only £200 not a lot if you say it quickly.🤑 John.1 point

Hi fellas, I have a plan. Bruno and J, this is an interesting problem, surely not too difficult to sort out. You both live on the Emerald Isle and even better, you both live in Dublin, it gets better still when you add that you both have UK IS300h imports. Now J, it seems you have solved this problem, why not arrange to meet with Bruno and show him what you did. After all two minds are better than one, maybe there is a minor trick that Bruno has missed, or something you can work out together. It is not as if you live in Russia, one in Moscow the other in Kemerovo, a months camel ride apart. Give it a try then, enjoy a litre or so of that black gold you sell there. Best wishes. OK, what I am saying is this, there are 10 of these cars, forget how the "normal" cars depreciate, if you have a lot of spare income then it could be a car to buy and store, it makes no difference how good it is or how the others depreciate, it is rare, there are 10, its like any other rare item, people buy them because they are rare not because of how good they are, look at how certain things, be it cars, watches or whatever, if it is rare then it has the potential to be an investment, in my opinion the colour, interior and how the others models depreciate will have no bearing on this model...………….All In my opinion of course.1 point

The baking of paint jobs is usually for individual panels such as boots bonnets wings bumpers etc(accident damage) ,as for rubber seals round doors a good paint shop will remove the rubber seals and mask up accordingly, but the paint will not be baked on a respray. The best way to find a good shop is to call on the ones in your area and check out work in progress and ask questions .1 point

Do these OBD cables interfere with your feet? My port is very close to my feet especially when getting in/out of the vehicle and I wouldn't want to get tangled up or damage the OBD outlet. Maybe other vehicles have the port positioned in a more practical place? How are the OBD powered devices fused? - I wouldn't want any third part device that goes pop to spike any sensitive on-board electronics. Whereas a piggyback fuse provides the add-on device with a dedicated fuse and is tucked neatly out of the way of any big feet.1 point

I know it’s not in the UK but looks impressive all the same, that isn’t an Orange Carbon with a sunroof is it ? Must be an Orange car with a wrap as I didn’t think you could fit one to the carbon roof. Big Rat1 point

I got to see one up close at Goodwood, the matt paint is much better in the flesh, surprised me how good it looked! The interior is beautifully put together but the blue wouldn't be my choice.1 point

I wonder if it might not be possible to arrange special insurance through a broker to cover the extra loss in such a case. If you could show the bill for the paint work you would have a legitimate financial interest that should be insurable. Just a thought.1 point

As a rider to that the music options are a lot better you can use a memory stick ,your phone and best of all the HDD when you insert a CD if it is not on the HDD it asks if you want to record it and you can get a lot of CDs on there Good luck with it my 450 runs superb had it nearly 3 years now and as never put a foot wrong with the exception of a rear caliper that was fitted FOC1 point

I realised on the drive in this morning that I gave poor advice on the topic of Bluetooth. Since you’ve got a 2010 model you have the updated media system that allows Bluetooth audio streaming (like my wife’s Prius I was driving this morning). You can still handle the calls separately to the music, they won’t interfere with each other, but you won’t need any new tech to do so. Best of luck with the car. Hit my Spotify song download limit recently so decided to clear a few offline playlists. Realised that most of my playlists are road trip related. So... Fom you fellow F owners, apart from a 5L V8... What are your top 5 driving songs. I will then make up a new playlist based on responses for my next run. Will start with 5 (and way too many that haven't made list) No particular order... 1) ACDC - Thunderstruck 2) Fleetwood Mac - Go your own Way 3) Bruce Springsteen - Dancing in the Dark 4) The Killers - All the Things I have done 5) Tears for Fears - Everybody wants to rule the world I am only 38 I promise 😉 Intrigued to hear yours 🙂1 point

Glad to hear that you are liking the NX. A dash cam is one option to deter/catch naughty folks but coverage isn't great e.g. vision is typically front/rear and not side/side. If the damage occurs at home then have you considered CCTV? Wiring into the fuse board can be easy these days with the likes a piggy back fuses, here's mine (drivers foot well). The camera can be easily unplugged without the need for tools. Note the dashcam earth wire 'c' clipped to the fuse board bolt at the bottom on the pic.1 point

Hi All Thanks a lot for your support and help. Good News !! Warranty company I am with apparently already in business with Lexus Chester Grp. So they authorised the repair and cover the cost. I will get the car back early next week. From what I have seen around he forum this Oil Pressure switch seems to be a common problem for the gs and I have raised this with Lexus customer relations (search for common gs450h problems). I also said I am claiming this via warranty but something they need to look into. I believe there is a manufacturing defect in the switch which causing it to fail. So the lady I spoke to said head office will contact me regarding this. I am not looking for lexus to cnver any cost as it is already been paid for but this might help others who are having the same issue. Thanks Harry1 point
