  1. Had a word with my dealer regarding the future of F models. Turns out the anniversary edition is coming to the UK after all. He said RCF no word on GSF though And it appears that theres going to be a version of the RCF with pricing less than £60k. Also RC Black Edition too. A few months later, the RC facelift will be revealed And the LCF has been confirmed to arrive with a 4.0l twin turbo V8 with 600hp minimum. Pricing will be over £100k All hearsay but let's see what happens!

  4. I drop her off at the door (my wife that is, not yours!) and then go and park. A compromise that she is happy with. Also, by the time I've parked she's already started the shopping which reduces my time in the shop!

  5. Well, in case anyone is interested in an update, I picked up my car today from the dealer after I got both mirrors replaced using my extended warranty. They told me the official cause was 'lazy motors'. The added bonus is that the replacement comes as a unit including the colour coded housing, so considering mine were stone chipped to hell, it was rather a nice surprise.

  6. Wipers on to clear water, as soon as ice has thawed, rear screen as well, if fitted. Side windows I just pour it on, but I suppose you could squeegee them dry if required.

  10. I've sat in the silver RCF in Edinburgh Lexus and am of the opinion that an RCF is a car that should shout look at me, silver doesn't do that for me!! The GSF/ISF is subtle and a sleeper.... The RCF should have 10 exhausts you can fist, and be bright purple or something!!

  12. well i know people are against engine flushes (not everyone is) but how bad it was i gave it one anyway before changing the oil and wow it has made the world of difference, smokes still but i have noticed its only when im on steep hills, which makes me think what the pcv has sent into the inlet is then being drained into the engine and then smoking, looking for a cap to sit over the inlet to try this theory but no idea where to get any!? car feels amazing now though, i cleaned the throttle plate as it was a bit oily so opened it up and inside was a fair bit of oil sitting inside, just wondering if i can spray carb cleaner etc inside without removal? i know it would smoke bad but i dont want to destroy anything, or will i need to just remove it all this weekend? thinking wether to just put pcv to ventilation and let it burn off the last bits itself?? theres still a whisp of blue smoke under WOT but nothing to cry over. and ill tackle the egr this weekend too hopefully. Should of just bought a pushbike.

  14. Weather in Northern Spain was horrendous, heavy rain and fog. I was glad I had new wiper blades fitted the previous week. Regarding speeds, let’s just say was making progress and staying with 15% of the speed limit most of the time. Some of the legs I managed to reduce the estimated travel time by 20%. Driving into the centre of Porto was pretty bad and makes London feel quiet. Once I got down south, the sun did shine, the temperature did increase and for most parts the roads got quieter. Big lesson for me is in the future checking the expiration on my Via-T tag as reversing out of the lane is pretty embarrassing. Usually I do drive through France or drive straight from Santander but fancied a change this time. Regarding parking and the Spanish use of bumpers as a parking sensor.... I always find nice underground car-parks near the hotels and my apartment has one. I did find the modern Parador hotels in Spain do have big spaces

  22. Watched 5 minutes of series one when it first came out and I've not had the urge to return to it. To be honest I really don't know what I was thinking as I'd long given up on Top Gear. Why I thought the three of them would be sufferable on a different channel I have no idea. I could probably just about watch something with James May in without removing my eyes with spoons but the other two? Not a chance. I have real trouble deciding which one of them I find most objectionable. I mean real trouble, as in I'll give it serious thought for quite some time before concluding that I really can't choose between them.

  23. There are a few reasons. 1) the GS450H cost more to begin with and it's a very rare car. They mostly end up at Lexus dealers who can govern the price to their liking 2) Lexus used vehicles at the dealership will only have £500-£1000 discount no more which keeps prices higher 3) that Lexus is fully loaded. It has things that even the 6 series has got like rear wheel steering. It genuinely handles well and the mid range performance is better than a 640d no question. It just flies. 4) diesels at the moment are attracting bad press and there's uncertainty around diesel future and taxation 5) there's so many 5 series around that dealers need to be competitive on pricing hence why the cheaper prices 6) technically the GS is still going as its on the same body whilst there's a new generation of 5 series and E class out pushing the prices down

  25. Mine's set to 7 which I think is perfect for motorway use and for lane changes at roundabouts. I tried 5 but if often stopped before I had chance to finish the manoeuvre. Cannot understand why 3 is the default. Finishes before even starting the manoeuvre.

  28. Hi all, New to the forum and new to RC-F ownership so Hi to all I've been reading a number of threads on here with a great deal of interest. I have to say I'm delighted that I'm now owning a car that polarises opinion! I've just come out of ownership of 3 years of a C63 and whilst some on here have already testified, it is a great car, yes probably is quicker from the low to mid range, but I've realised that I was taking pleasure in my C63 from the comfort of external opinions, nods, glances which were all positive, taking comfort in the fact it was widely lauded as being one of the best V8's you can buy, but as I've got over that excitement through ownership, I've realised it also is very much about the experience of the interior too and with that I was bored with the C63. Personally I think the interior in the Lexus is fantastic, and the build quality far superior to the C63. Equally I'd discounted an M3 due to a boring and lacklustre interior. The Lexus just has that little bit extra pazzaz that I've felt has been missing from owning a C63. I enjoyed the attention I got in the Merc, but having now moved to the RC-F can see far more interest from people in this car due to it's rarity. As others have said I see no reason why that wouldn't contribute to a stabilisation and potential increase in value, when most owners acknowledge the car grows on you. I'm bored to be honest with what I feel are journo's fixations on track driving, lap times round the ring, when we all drive cars on the road 99% of the time, and our experience of our cars is how they make us feel, and the emotion they generate both by their exterior but also interior look and feel. The driving experience is subjective, but any 450bhp coupe is going to feel fast up to "normal" road speeds. I've had just as much interest in the car, with the looks, glances and question marks in peoples heads over what it is, then reminded myself I'm also sat in just an exclusive and fresh environment on the inside with gasps when they realise Lexus made V8's. You don't get that owning a BMW or a Merc! As I say the pull for me is the surprise the car gives me and others on the perceived opinions of what a Lexus "is" Enjoying the experience so far! Cheers Matt

  30. I never auto renew anything. Always worth 5 mins on the phone to get back to at least what you paid the preceding year. Sky is the best deal (although at least 30 mins on the phone) as you can get at least 50% off and that's worth a £50 saving every single month to me.

  31. They're all sneaky. I've been with the AA for years and every year without fail the price goes up, and every year I phone to complain/cancel and they reduce it by as much as 30%. I would never go for automatic renewal of anything any more.
