  1. Picked up the deep blue Takumi this afternoon from Lexus Teesside. Presentation was very good and it came with nice surprises. Yes, I went for G3 ceramic which they applied to the wheels as well as the bodywork. The G3 case and goodies inside is very nice. Got another interesting box which was jammed packed full of first aid kit, fire extinguisher, flare 😈, high viz vests, ponchos, etc. Never seen this before but it’s very nice. Plus a nice wicker basket full of yummy goodies. Also found that the car does have a windscreen wiper de-icer. The button is located in the HVAC concierge page.👍

  2. I completely agree. I've had a Lexus warranty on my car for three years now (first year came with the car) and have just renewed it again. It's worth remembering that the warranty is underwritten by Lexus and there's none of the third-party wriggling! I had a new radiator, oil cooler, brake caliper and air-con pipe fitted recently, all of which came to far more than the cost of the warranty. Re. the included breakdown cover, I had a problem with the 12v battery recently and called out the AA who arrived within 40 minutes. The AA man told me they give priority to Lexus calls. If you have a car over 5 years-old and are a Gold Member, Essential Servicing isn't much more than third parties and it includes the Hybrid Health Check and warranty. I shall sell my car privately in a year's time as it will still have 12-months manufacturer's warranty - which is quite a good selling point! 😉

  4. Hi everyone new member here with a 2007 GS450H. Had it about 9 months now and love driving it so fast and comfortable. Done 10,000 miles in it since having it and not one fault with it. Went to Scotland for a weeks holiday in it done 1650 miles in a week no problems what so ever averaged 42mpg that week can't complain about that. When I brought it still had lexus warranty on it so took it in to lexus for a full service before the warranty ran out and they couldn't find one fault every single circle on the service sheet was green so well happy with that considering the car is 12 years old and 113,000 miles. They even said that's a very clean car for 12 years old. Even the wife drives it but not sure if it's a good thing or not lol. Since I have been with her which is 10 years she has never driven any off my cars and I must off had about 25 sine I have been with her but she loves driving the lexus. Every time she goes out she says are you going out and if I say no she goes can I take the lexus. Here are some photos of my baby.

  5. Got my front discs skimmed today, put it back on the car with new pads, so far I have been doing smooth and slow braking just that the brakes bed in better. Apparently one of the disc was slightly warped but both got machined. Well, even now I can say that my Lexus was never braking better and smoother as it does now, in fact it was my only gripe for this car - brakes but I was blaming it to be a hybrid! I think one disc was always slightly warped but with my harsh braking trying to clean pads/discs I made it worth, anyway, I do not have a proper answer to that, I have no idea why would disc being thick almost as new got warped, defo not under my owner. I had warped discs on my old car (Passat) but discs were thin and required changing, this ones are 29mm (new ones 30mm) so not badly worn! I just hope this issue won't happen again in near future. Got the front pads from Lexus Glasgow for £72 and as a present a 2 teddy bears for my daughters! 🙂 Thanks to Mark from Parts dep.

  6. I'm sure just by looking at the two you can see what is pricey carbon and what is carbon wrap...also get the full bit under the centre console done. On my ISF it looks a little incomplete. Also don't remind me about the 'Tesla style' screen...deffo not plug and play!

  7. I've never been one for preserving an unmodified car and am definitely a fan of the more extreme mods. With that in mind, the below is being installed this week. Airlift 3P with twin compressors and a 4 gallon tank. Watch this space for updates or for those using Instagram you can find more regular updates at isf_dan I'll post a few more pics once it's all installed.

  9. So on to the intercooler pipework now need to cut, chop and weld to get this to fit. Not done alot just made a start on cutting the hole in the engine bay to route the pipework. Got myself a 90degree elbow form viper performance 2.5 inch to 3inch for the 3 inch pipework Got this cutter from B&Q, cut the metal very easily! still loads to do!

  10. Looks very nice, enjoy it! I imagine you don't need to take out the additional 2yr warranty now, it could be done near to the end of the one year you get when buying it? Did you also have to sit through the usual gap insurance, Supagard etc sales thing? Do Sidcup charge an admin fee?

  11. Nice looking car inside and out. Have you checked service record? What warranty are you being given on the car? Assuming this is for one year, it would seem to me that £995 for an additional 2 year warranty on a car with near 100K miles would be better value than the same figure for a 2 year extension on a 2015 car with sub 40K miles I have been offered.

  12. Just came across this on YouTube. Not sure how old the video is. Maybe some of you have already seen it, but I couldn't resist putting it up on the forum. What a fantastic advertisement for our brand!

  14. I did Wayne! If you've replaced the touch panel on the screen before then this mod isnt much more difficult...it just takes time to iron out the kinks once setup. You also have to be incredibly careful not to damage the dash (it's surprisingly fragile surrounding the screen and the vents. Luckily my test car was the 250 when the touch screen became non responsive, but that being said I have a great way to repair a damaged dash almost seamlessly ...I'll add a post on that too!

  18. You left your car in the possession of the garage and they are responsible for any damage to it whilst in its possession. If they leave it on the road or in the street or on a vacant plot of land it does not absolve it from its responsibilities to you. What documentation ( if any ) did you sign when leaving the vehicle with the garage Arthur ?

  19. Look underneath the car, remove the cover that's usually removed for oil changes. It has a finned radiator on it, two water hoses and an electrical connector. Fairly obvious to spot. Let's hope it's just blocked and not shorted...

  20. It is a little, but it isn't without its challenges! I may do a review soon but now I can control my audio streaming, have decent DAB and full AC options. There were issues with camera and ML amp compatibility not to mention buggy software and long (20sec) boot times if the car is off for more than 10hours, but it's better than what was there and meets my needs when hotspotted to my phone! You can even stream Netflix and prime video (wouldn't reccomend whilst driving)!

  28. Wow! - We have often said on this forum that the LS430 was ahead of its time but to have LEDs is amazing - reliable they are too!

  29. I'm sure someone will appear to advise you accordingly BUT my thoughts are simple really, Lexus spent several £ billion to make your Ls400 model, the very very first Lexus, the very best car in it's class ( and more ) some 30+ years ago and with I believe 195/60/15 ? tyres , wheels and brakes to match .... Dunlop even produced the specific tyre for this car too, the DZ8 ? not sure I would be changing what was in it's day " perfection " just my twopenny worth Malc

  30. Sorry to hear that you were disappointed. The search continues. I think it will come because it appears that these brakes are also being used on the RC300h F-Sport now. In terms of the UK though it only represents a few hundred cars (GS450h Premier and F-sport + RC300h F-sport) equipped with these brakes, so a UK company like EBC is not going to bother with the rather high tooling cost of a 2-piece disc to supply the small fraction of owners that would come to them rather than Lexus.

  34. I've not had to use my Cross Climates in serious snow yet but on slush and compacted snow/ice they were fine; I've always felt in total control. I was an early adopter of them and have done approx. 38,000 miles on a set of four. I haven't rotated the tyres from front to rear so as a result the fronts are on 3.5mm and the rears on 6.5mm. I think that's excellent wear for a heavy, essentially front wheel drive, vehicle. When I bought them they were about £180 per tyre; latest quote I've had from Costco was £257 for two (I think as I've lost the piece of paper with the quote on!). Costco have only just started selling the 19 inch Cross Climates with the RX450h profile and have a discount deal at the moment. I can't remember if the £257 is with or without the discount; I have a feeling it's without! Given the excellent performance and wear I'd say they are well worth the money. I'll certainly buy them again, which will probably be in a couple of months or whenever the fronts are down to 3mm.

  38. Sorry, had various personal and family medical nightmares therefore no time to post. But just following up in case anyone has the same problem. THanks all for the tips/suggestions. James' answer was the winning solution! A good length pole will easily reach the back seat door locks through the ski hatch. Good old fashioned brute force. I actually used a £2.99 cleaning mop from B&M 🙂 I didn't try the rear lights solution because, come to think of it, I think the power circuit would still be OC - since i had the battery disconnected? I think this trick only works if your battery is flat - not purposely disconnected. Moral of the story is double check that the physical lock still works when you're done changing your door actuators!

  39. absolutely devastating news there, so so sad .............. it looks terminal from an insurance point of view tbh, they would w/o your car for a blemish on the bumper I was side swiped by an 02 plate Porsche Boxter on the 20th, whacked his nearside front wing into my rear offside door moving onto a roundabout....... initial insurance estimate for my door repair for insurers is @£1500 BUT to just push and pull and leave a couple of tiny creases it might cost a tenth of that he's happy to tell me ... no paint needed fortunately The insurers will insist on a new door etc etc etc ..... now with Saga my insurers, I've told them I'm keeping the car as there's no structural damage just cosmetic, she drives perfectly as usual BUT they would write her off given the chance ( they won't get it ) I surmise so just seeing where this all takes me I didn't report it to you guys, wanted to wait to see what transpires first 👻 BUT Bluesman, she looks desperately sad and my heart goes out to you, your cherished steed Anything we can do to help ? 40. Before you go any further I would take the time to confirm that the disks are actually warped with a dial gauge/similar. A gauge can be found cheap on the bay of fleas/similar. Ensure the disk/hub faces are completely clean and provide a true mounting. Do you stay on the foot brake for a long time e.g. whilst sitting at junctions? Some friction material can stick to the disk, especially after a long, repeated or hard stop. I occasionally find that my brakes pulse and it can be cleared by some hard braking to clean off friction material that's built up from sitting on the brakes in/around town.

  42. Thank you for your thoughts. I will think on options. If I omitted to take out the warranty while the car is still relatively young with low mileage now, would I still be able to take out a warranty in a couple of years time? I am aware that parts on premium cars are expensive - I had an E Class MB and 5 series BMW before the Lexus. However, I am surprised that the cost of the Lexus warranty is so high bearing in mind that the RX is up with the best when it comes to faults, according to survey. It is expensive when compared with comprehensive insurance cover where insurers could pay out for anything up to write off value, heavy damage caused by a thief or vandal, as well as damage to other vehicles/persons caused by the insured.
