  2. Nice to get a clean bill of health, just some uneven wear on the front tyres and will get the dealer to look at that when it's in for the airbag recall in a couple of weeks. I do get a bit paranoid come MOT time as I have started getting used to the long list of stuff that generally crops up when I take my LS400 in. Nice to see the ISF is all in good health and is untroubled with the 94k on the clock.

  3. Well done looks great, I wouldn't worry too much about the mileage, I have had one with 120k on the clock and my current with 94k, if you couldn't see the odometer then you'd easily convince yourself that the car had done many less miles. Enjoy.

  4. Not half Big Rat, can’t wait to have this done and back on the road. Got to be patient though, Lee and the guys are doing an amazing job getting things spot on, will be worth the wait! Shouldn't cause any issues having those bits in front of the radiator. If you look at a lot of high power turbo’d cars, they also have the same setup with FMIC, coolers etc in front of the radiator. The air will still reach the rad, just through the fins of the other coolers. Considering there are guys running this setup in California where it’s always sunny and hot, doubt gloomy, wet, cold England will cause it any issues! Lol. I already have an agreed value policy on mine. Have to declare all my modifications, but get like for like or replacement value for everything. Things like the wheels and rear carbon diffuser are now discontinued, hence needing good cover just in case something bad happens.

  5. So more progress photos from Lee at SRD. Auxiliary pulley assembly turned up, so they’ve done a load of stuff today! I was shocked when I saw these, really impressed with what’s been achieved. Still work to be done, but damn! Well done guys, super impressed.

  7. Sitting in you car you very rarely see your car's lights but the other night I did my usual check that all lights were working. For the first time I realised that the dipped lights were the inner rather than the outer lights. Outer lights dipped is the configuration on every other car I've had and over the last few days I've noticed that every car with it's lights on has dipped on the outside. just wondered is this a Lexus peculiarity and is anyone aware why they are set up like that? Given the position of the sidelights it means the edges of the car aren't marked. Says something about the cars that the majority of postings on the forum (this one included!) have nothing to do with faults, breakdowns and problems.

  10. A Direct debit is an automated, routine debit from one's current account, managed by the recipient of the money. They can alter the amount withdrawn from one's current account by giving at least 10days notice. The account holder does not need to do anything after setting up the Direct debit mandate. A Debit card is a payment card that when used takes payment from one's current account immediately. The card carries all the account information required to set up a Direct debit but using the card does not set up a Direct debit. The Direct debit guarantee is not applicable to purchases made with a Debit card, only those routine payments set up by the Direct Debit mandate. The guarantee protects the account holder against unauthorised increases in the routine Direct debit payment and/or an increase in the frequency of payments. Direct debit payments are totally different from Debit card payments

  11. Just read the whole post I made, it's quite clear, but to summarise: Let's say that I buy a car on my credit card and something goes wrong with it, maybe the engine explodes. I go back to the dealer I bought it from, only to find they've gone bust so I can't get them to pay for repairs. Section 75 says that my credit card provider has to make things right for me because they are jointly responsible with the company that sold me the car. If I had used my debit card instead, my bank would be under no legal obligation to do anything for me, or they may offer something 'as a goodwill gesture'. Ergo, a debit card provides nowhere near as much protection as a credit card would if things go wrong. And now I'm cracking open a beer!

  13. I haven’t had a private car parking ticket for years but a sob story email usually gets it cancelled. “My elderly mother was late from her appointment at *******, she had a dizzy spell while we walked to the car.....I’m sure if you check the cctv you see us in the car park waiting for her to settle.”

  14. Well done you! I once read that private carparks that issue fines aren't enforceable by law, not sure how true that is. I'm glad you won, some wouldn't bother, but I know I would!

  16. Yes its is low and not ideal but needed for the rear cam to see out the back porthole lol. No problems driving ,ive had more obstructive airfresheners lol. If i ever got pulled id just move it up for a bit . power feed from 12v in center consol. I never use it so bought a 12v socket from ebay. Took center consol apart disconnected +/- from socket and connected my bought one into that. Power lead fed around window and under dash and standard 12v push plug into new socket. Again not ideal but i knew how to do that rather than fusebox lol. Been running a year no issues. everyone does it differently but i wouldnt run without one now.

  18. I've found a cure for the poor ride quality over short sharp ridges. I replaced the front Yokohamas with Goodyear Efficient Grip SUV tyres. the change is startling. Will change the rears in the new year too. Night and day difference, really pleased

  19. Thats amazing progress to be picking it up on Monday Pete - very impressive. Will definitely keep SRD in mind for any work I want to do away from Lexus. I had them in mind for installing the USRS’s, on your recommendation, If I hadn’t already renewed my warranty for another 2 years. Hence why I didn’t join the recent USRS group buy you very kindly organised. Still keen to do it at some point but H&S exhaust my 1st priority in the new year & no warranty.issues with that. Hadn’t t realised the supercharger was so compact. I was expecting it to be nestled on top of the engine in the more usual configuration - I presume due to lack of space?. This is more like a turbo set up. You will have to explain all the pipe work/cooling when I get the opportunity to see it lol. Excitement must be building for 1st drive on Monday. 😉

  20. I have the below mentioned dash cams in three of our family cars, I have one in the front and rear of my own car. I have had them for over 3 years and they do the job just fine. They are so small, you can leave them in the car all the time. Mine are hard wired in, so they power on and off with the ignition. Simply fit and forget them. It all depends on your budget and what options you want included, wifi for example. Size ? Some are so large, you have no choice but to disconnect them EVERY time you leave the car !! Do not disregard the cheaper Chinese dash cams that are out there, as some are pretty good for the price. http://www.avrmobiles.co.uk/acatalog/in-car-camera-accident-camera-sw010.html

  22. As far as your first post goes, your car is 2009, whatever tyres were approved for it then are long since out of date designs, the big brand name companies spend millions every year in research etc to maintain their position and keep advancing their products, whatever tyres were approved on your RX450H then might not be approved now because they are no longer made...........Michelin cross climate are supposed to be the best for all seasons & also they are legal in countries where tyres must be winter rated or you get nicked, quite a useful side effect....... 'tyres', bit of 'no right answer' subject really!

  23. @rayaans, I like both of those. Did anyone see this recent vid of an old car? Impressive...although slightly off thread (sorry).

  24. Not Cadoxton Slate, but my old car was grey-ish and had these wheels... Congrats on the purchase. Definitely a bargain as a decent set of tyres alone would cost about 500 quid. Definitely try and get them coated with a sealant or wax if you want them to stay in perfect condition and make them easy to keep clean. Over the past couple of weeks I've been getting my winter wheels ready (which have never been protected with anything) and they were in a right state and took a lot of effort to clean up - especially the inner barrels.

  25. @Peter P18 Been looking at the build as it goes on you must getting like a kid at Christmas waiting for the off ! Can I ask a couple of questions ? With all the gubbins in front of the rad added with the extra performance available do you think it’s going to impede airflow and therefore heat issues ? Secondly are you going to go down the agreed value insurance once she’s done. Big Rat

  26. Must confess, I dislike dealers, don’t trust dealers AND won’t pay dealers, my F is looked after using genuine Lexus parts and IS done correctly, knowing the person is a must, therefore trusting them to do the job, several occasions dealers have been caught out NOT doing what’s required, like they say “each to their own”

  27. @Ace8800You're someone who has gained a fair bit of knowledge now of these cars being a serial buyer 😁 Its invaluable to get to know your car the feel and have the ability to recognise when she's not herself 😏 And I agree entirely receipts in conjunction with the stamps invaluable. Big Rat

  28. All seasons will be just as good in summer as summer rubber unless you’re pushing on. Same in winter with the exception of extreme weather when they’ll be obviously poor. Running 2 sets of wheels can be cheaper than running summer rubber all year with only 1 set. 2nd hand OEM wheels don’t depreciate much at all. Buy them for £300 and sell them for £250-300 if you change cars. Winter rubber is generally cheaper than summer especially if you can go down sizes. 20” summer Tyres for my Touareg were over £200. I bought brand new OEM 17” winters for £300 a set and premium tyres were half the price of 20” summers. Replacement set of 20” summer rubber = £800. 17” wheels and 4 winter tyres = £700 but you’ll have a set of wheels which will always be worth £250 so true cost is £450. I had the Touareg for 2 years, did 22k. Spent £700 on winter rubber and rims. Summer rims stayed pristine. Summer tyres still had 6mm tread on when I handed it back. I’ve got a set of winter wheels and tyres to sell which will easily get £500. If I didn’t run winters I’d have had to replace at least 2 summer tyres for £400 before handing it back. So I’d have been £400 down if I didn’t use winter wheels and tyres. I’m probably down £200 as I can easily get £500 for the part worn winters with rims. I’d have to sell the winter rims and tyres for under £300 to be out of pocket. So I only had the car for 2 years, saved a good £200, didn’t have to worry or think twice about going out in the worst weather Scotland could throw at me, kept my summer rims pristine, had a much safer car for my wife and kids and vastly reduced the risk of winter potholes damaging my wheels. Not to mention the amount of fun I had playing in the snow. Why on earth would I consider putting on expensive all seasons and costing myself even more money than just sticking with summer would have cost. All the RX’s have the same wheel figment so you could have bought at 17” set from a S1RX when you bought the first one, saved a fair chunk of cash, had more fun, been safer with less chance of getting stuck. 30. Ford did hold the patent up to about a year ago for the fully heated windscreens with the wires running down them I did experience them in a Ford Fiesta but it gave me a headache at night. This is the same with the heated screens from Volvo and Jaguar which all use the wire tech. I believe VW don't use wires for their heated screens on newer vehicles - instead they have some form of coating that heats up and is genuinely invisible.

  31. @paul99Just to sooth some of your fears fuel consumption,I had 34mpg once................. yep that's it once 😁 Tyres I can get a set of OEM Bridgestones fitted for six hundred notes, some on here go posh and buy Michelin and such like 🙄😂😂 Servicing well if it's under warranty with the 'Big Lexi' you'll just have to take it on the chin but to be honest it ain't that bad 👍 Value wise show me a better rival and I'll show you a liar 🤥 Big Rat

  32. From what I read in the opening post or should I say "Statement of facts" to my learned friends the seller has refunded 2/3rds of the cost of the alleged incorrect part. I would also assume that the buyer has retained the said part. Would it not therefore be prudent to resell this part to recover the outstanding balance of 1/3rd. This concludes the case for the prosecution.

I’m quite proud of my statistics - Vauxhall Vectra V6 SRi - Chalked one X girlfriend ISF - Made the Mrs barf on a trip through Wales Cessna 172 - X Mrs barfed and made me land I will add that this behaviour is not big and not clever 😀

  39. So so to give a quick bump to this thread @DAN@ADRIAN FLUX And his people have received all the documentation pictures and so on of my is-F and for the £65.00 fee the agreed value of my car a 59plate with 45k miles and and A1 condition is agreed between us as £19500.00 this IMO is exactly how I see its value to be and would like to thank Dan and his and the staff for the quick and efficient response. Now obviously all others who wish to go this route would have their cars assessed on a individual basis but I think it represents market replacement value or there abouts and not what it would be if the unthinkable happens without an agreed value.
