I took the boot and bonnet off my wife's cardoxton 220d to put them on my red IS-F. I thought it would make it look like it had carbon fibre panels. The boot fitted perfectly, but the bonnet was missing a bulge. That was a wasted weekend3 points

@Linas.P Linas this vid is just for you, go on buy one this is what you are really missing it's the meets never mind all the chunter on here 😂2 points

Did your IS-F bonnet at least fitted wife's IS220d ? (I know it doesn't... just trying to save you next weekend...) On serious note.. please stop misquoting me... I never said that the only difference between IS-F and IS220d are gearbox and engine, I just said those to would be most expensive to fix if failed and least likely to find used (or in other Lexus models). It is quite obvious that not all body panels fits (though doors, boot lid would fit).2 points

First ISF ran for 16 months , one minor service was around £300 then a leaking rear shock discovered at MOT cost £330 - all done at the Lexus dealer. Took out the warranty £795, this the paid for a new waterpump £400. Big 60k service done at 120k miles was £900 done just prior before I sold it so I reckon net of £1925 or around £120'per month which doesn't sound so bad. Current ISF - owned for 9 months. - zero cost bar £180 for some minor cosmetic repairs and the roof wrap being removed so £20 per month which sounds great!2 points

Unfortunately I sold my 220d last year and all the associated paperwork was given to the new owner so can't be of any help with the job number. They did explain the problem to me in detail, most of it I didn't really understand but basically the 5th injector was dumping unburnt fuel into the exhaust (more often than needed) and causing plumes of smoke almost every time I drove the vehicle while in the warming up stage. I recall the tech saying they had reprogrammed the software amongst other things I didn't really understand. Sorry I can't be of anymore help. It' a shame really as it' been a long time since anybody last sent me flowers. 😳1 point

We're only joking Lina's, you know what we are like on here. Thick skins are compulsory as a member of this forum lol1 point

@MNMJWasted weekend I dunno about that 2 days playing with cars not speaking to the wife sounds like heaven 😉 🐀1 point

If youre going pre facelift there's not much difference at all so I would urge you to go for an earlier model as it'll cost you less. The facelift has only been around since the beginning of this year so if you want a facelift model there's not much choice1 point

I bet I know the problem, most people don’t shut the bonnet correctly, they lower it and push it shut, your actually supposed to slam it shut, I’m sure that will work 🙄.......don’t give up, I’m sure it’ll shut eventually 😂🤣1 point
-
Are you sure the bonnet didn't fit, it's only the engine and gearbox that's different !!1 point

What WAS the topic? Must be all the Xmas booze fuddling folk. I am even known to post Citroen reminicences......I claim age on my part! Seasoned greetings ...LEXUS!!....folk. (-: even though I no longer own one.......1 point

Yes, I find the same with the GS-F, struggled to hit 30 with the IS, achieved 34.3mpg on a run up to Manchester last week.1 point

Talking of 70s BL cars you clearly were lucky not to have experienced my 76 mk2 Allegro, it had a cylinder head gasket at 750 miles. The paint fell off half the car. The front seats needed reupholstrring as the seams came undone. Oh the throttle damper was a perpetual issue. This was just the first 6 months of ownership. The following 2 years were worse....1 point

Just popping out to convert my IS200t to an ISF Apart from a radiator and a bit of piping what else do I need chaps....I have a Euro car parts up the road, oh yeah and a Screwfix. Great thread by the way, It kind of makes me feel warm inside..and I don't even own one1 point

People simply use it wrong, should never be used for short city journeys, though only manual gearbox option is strange.... But look to bright side - plenty of cheap parts for IS-F....1 point

Yes, 4X4s should look like ......Land Rovers? The infamous chelsea tractor' scenario means that a lot are just glorified people carriers (which is what I thought a car WAS!) One imagines that the current X-trail wouldn't last long in Saudi. But then, I recall being up a mountain track in Pyrenees, in my Cherokee, feeling slightly intrepid to have lurched up there. We heard an engine coming zooming up the track; then see a Citroen Dyane van flying up the track, delivering bread! Softee tourists!1 point

Me personally would have the ls400. I've had many Lexus ls430's, Gs300, Gs430 and now sc430, but the ls400 mk4 is best of the lot for reliability and comfort, infact I didn't notice any difference between air suspension and the ls400 suspension1 point

I have Premium Nav and purchased exactly the map update code/Part number on the Lexus wesbite on ebay. The Micro SD memory card came in the post and with lexus branding on the card. Plug in the card in the card and the first thing it prompted was to perform a firmware update. Whole process took 10 mins and seems to run fine. However I'm pretty sure there is a way to update via USB for your situation. I've updated ECU firmware via OBD2 and believe me thats a more pucker up b**hole moments than a navi system lol1 point

Hi, welcome, nice looking car. I don't think the standard nav can be updated yourself. Personally I would not try and do it myself from something I bought on eBay. An embarrassing and expensive trip to the dealer if it goes wrong. I have not heard of people doing it themselves on the standard nav, premium nav yes but standard nav does not have a DVD or memory card. The dealer can update the firmware and may do it free of charge on a service but this does not update the maps. Hope that helps.1 point

This link may have been posted before idk, but there is some great information here on the IS F. https://lexus.pressroom.com.au/press_kit_detail.asp?kitID=270&navSectionID=6#29121 point

For low speed maneuvering or steady straight line driving you're aswell disengaging the traction control too.1 point

The point about cannibalisation of RX sales is interesting, since the German manufacturers seem to offer overlapping powertrain choices between their mid-size and large SUV ranges. Two points on this: (i) Lexus could differentiate the V6 NX from the RX by referring to it as NX400h and slightly detuning the engine (or leaving it alone) (ii) lost RX sales, if any, might be more than compensated by winning sales from customers who would otherwise go elsewhere for midsize SUVs with a bit of performance. I guess more performance could alternatively come from beefing up the electric component of the drivetrain, but I would imagine that dropping in an existing (450h) package would be less costly in development terms.1 point

Personally I don't think 275's are enough, I've got 275's on OEM wheels and they loose traction on 1st-2nd gear 305's seem to be a nice size to go like that car on CL posted on your last thread.1 point

Hey Big Rat, Indeed, my running costs will hardly change, may get an additional oil change each year for added peace of mind, but otherwise it’s bus as usual. The mechanical LSD and bigger wheels and tyres will certainly help get the power down, something this colder weather is highlighting as a weakness at present! The supercharger itself is only running at 0.5bar boost, hardly anything in other words. The added oil and gearbox coolers are keeping operating temperatures nice and low, so won’t have issues there either. Acceleration from around 70mph is incredible, honestly don’t think many cars would keep up. The fact my boost is instant versus the turbo cars means you just take off, literally! Lol.1 point

I received the USRS kit and the adjustable rear camber arms today! Thank you very much Peter for the perfect packaging and your confidence!1 point

So after my second outing, it’s official...... I need wider tyres! Lol. Seen more of the traction control light tonight than I have in the last 3/4yrs of ownership! Think the mechanical LSD will also help tame the beast! Better start playing the lottery!1 point
-
Is it?! Hadn’t noticed! Lol. I’ll sleep, need all my senses to be tip top!! Honestly doesn’t sound that different to before, you get the hiss of the blow-off valves when you’ve built some boost (remember it only goes to 0.5bar, which is nothing really!), but otherwise it’s pretty quiet..... I’m loving that though, will be easier to catch out some exotics! Lol.1 point

You wouldn't hear a slight noise from the brakes over that rattly old diesel tractor engine!! Why Mercedes keep on flogging that old 2.1 lump is a mystery to me. That is why I didnt buy one.1 point
