  1. I bought RCF other day with ACC/PCS TVD sunroof, QS exhaust etc just below 9k on the clock, was originally priced for £38k and I can tell you after the negotiations price dropped around £35k. I had a quick chat with Lexus Salesman and like someone previously said, some of the cars were bought on 3-year PPC and very soon they will be up for renewals and very likely their next choice is LC500 so hopefully more RCF coming to the market soon.

  3. @Jon_B We've been over there before the Welsh Road Guru better known as @Flytvr will be along in a moment to identify, I was sent on my way so they could see how long they could still hear the Quicksilver it was still audible at 2 miles....... here's a picture a while back when we were different car lineup..........all ISF's then 🤗 Big Rat

  5. Out of the regular suspects, there’s only one TVD equipped car piloted by someone who knows his onions. He swears by TVD. I trust his opinion.

  8. M4 is rapid (as we all know). However, on a public road, M4 v RCF / GSF, I can’t see there being a winner (other than the law). Given your average driver, in the wet, I honestly don’t think an M4 would know which way an RCF / GSF went. I’m not a capable driver, but what impressed me most about the RCF was the wet weather handling. Never once did my car (unexpectedly) break traction. I was told by another driver that TVD does allow some tail happy behaviour in the wet. ISF / GSF / RCF straight line performance, not much in it (as you would expect).

  9. As we all know from Lexus the pads and discs are not cheap, I had a guy source Brembo pads for the front of my isF last year and have just sorted a another set for @Rusty Crobar for the same price of £72.00 the rears are a little less. Had an email today today from him front pads now released and available in 24 hrs for both the Rcf and Gsf rear pads and front and rear discs will follow shortly. The price for the front pads for the Rcf and Gsf is £55.35 + vat A group buy is a possibility but unlikely so if anybody wants them here's the link ask for Sam or Neil they both know all about. http://wrsfactors.co.uk/contact-us Big Rat

  10. You're criticising someone for making assumptions yet that is all you have been making. Let's wait and see what actually materialises when it is released. This thread has annoyed me as up till now I've always found this forum a friendly place full of rational people who appreciate their lexuses. I love my GS and am sad to see it's demise but am looking forward to what comes next. I'll make my judgement once I've had the chance to drive it.

  12. Finally managed to get them installed today. Loving the looks of it, but more importantly it actually fixed the braking issue I mentioned in my very first comment. Braking is now much more gradually consistent rather than a sudden "break". The bite definitely feels more firm and more aggressive when your fully stepping on the brake. Really pleased with the upgrade!

  18. How did the ISF get on in some newer company? I'm hoping that all the cars perform similarly on the straights and in the twists. If anything, having driven the new M3 I could expect you were all trying to keep up!!lol Marcus

  20. I don't know your physical abilities but my wife has a mobility scooter, a Scootamart Versa Lite - click this link for details. We were lucky to get hers secondhand for £375 from eBay, almost unused, so it's worth a look there too. It fits into the back of the RX300 that we used to have and as the 400h is built on the same body, then I know it'll fit into yours. It comes apart into five separate pieces, no tools are needed. The front axle, tiller and body is one piece, the rear axle, the battery, the seat and the basket make up the rest. Because it splits apart it's light and easy to handle, and my wife can get it in and out of the car herself without needing a hoist. As an indication, we managed to get the scooter and four weeks-worth of luggage in the boot of the RX300, without putting the seats down, when we went on holiday driving and touring around Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia.

  21. @ColinBarber My experience of the ones from here for my isF is that the material is different undoubtedly ceramic and the dust reduction was huge. I used the car with them and there was no discernible difference in performance on the road in normal driving or fast road, I was impressed. Big Rat

  29. whilst I lament the loss of the GS, we shouldnt let our perception of the current ES cloud our judgment of the new one. Its on a new platform which has beemn well recieved in other models and has LS inspired styling - which is good thing. IF this car has been designed\engineered to step up from the current generation ES to rival that class of car then thats encouraging.

  30. Stupidity really! I wanted an LS430 which cost me 3 times as much with higher mileage, not a patch on the LS 430 I sold this year, the sale of which could also be considered foolish. Still, I'm enjoying the GS and can't see me going back to the LS fold..... maybe.....

  32. Ive been told the battery warranty keeps going after 10 years if you keep doing the annual hybrid healthcheck. I don't think many batteries have been replaced, if ever. Some vehicles have done crazy mileages especially in the states in the form of the Toyota Prius which is regularly used as a taxi over there. Think it was something like 600k on the original battery and still well and truly alive

  33. Just a thought on improving the boat fuel consumption, is it worth looking at Kleenoil USA (they fit sump filter by-pass systems) which I know some boat owners in USA use to get 10%-20% improvement in diesel consumption. Not sure if it is applicable to 2-stroke, as the filter removes other additives, which the two stroke may need. The Kleenoil product is actually made in Leeds, and I was involved in a couple of UK installs about 10 years back, one to a 40 year old Bristol Single Decker, (the owner was amazed, said filter made the bus feel like it was almost new), also fitted to a Diesel truck for manager at National Trust, and he said he was getting consistent 15% better fuel consumption. Anyone with a turbo diesel should consider a Kleenoil system, and have been told it preserves life of petrol based turbo systems, by keeping oil clean and reduces need to replace oil at every service.

  35. Malcom i am 25. The way i see life that if i want to do something I will do it without thinking too much about the consequences (maybe I get that from my mum because she is joining me on the trip) - the rest of my family think I am bonkers for doing it when a flight can get you there in 7 hours and is considerably cheaper. if something is going to happen to me it can happen to me stepping out the front door (i know thats an immature way to think about things but thats how i see them) I will be recording the whole trip via dash cam/go pro so I will be uploading on youtube and Ill post a link on here when its all done. Best of luck with the trip I am sure youll enjoy it.

  36. Thanks, we are allowed a military escort soon as we enter Pakistan border from the issuing bodies of Carnet de passage (its basically a temporary import permit) to take my car into those countries. We are allowed this for the whole duration of the trip but I will only be using them for the first hour after we cross the border to clear the danger zone and then continue on our way to Karachi. If all goes well with this trip, I am planning a route down to Botswana in 2019 summer :D Exciting times.

  37. Thanks everyone, very useful Thanks for the links to the alloy wheels, plan to have a measure up. The car has 3 very good, goodyear efficient grip tyres and one worn Michelin energy saver. I may bin the worn Michelin, use the other goodyear as the spare and buy a new set of Michelin energy savers for the front. Found that tyre noise was quite high, depending on road surface. What tyres work well on the IS? On my Volvos love Michelin. Found 2 minor faults today, the ECC blows cool, not cold so going to try a regas. How much gas does it take? The boot release definitely doesn't work remotely even after trying the button in the glovebox. A minor thing as just use the button inside to open. Did 100 miles in the car today and love it! Used less than a quarter of a tank of diesel to do the 100 miles, ie 3/4 of a quarter. Mixed driving 60% dual carriageway the rest in Birmingham in evening/afternoon traffic. How many miles to a tank do people average? It's a very nice car and well equipped, feels luxurious. I liked the lights under the wing mirrors for approach lighting and footwell lighting. I also liked the warning orange light if doing over 70mph. Cruise control was nice on the way back home. You get a lot of car for £1500! Stereo is great. Ride firmer than my soft Volvo suspension but expected that. Turbo lag, likes to be revved particularly in 1st and second. You pull away from lights etc then suddenly the turbo kicks in and your off! I think they should of offered an auto version to get the best out of the engine. Tomorrow going to read the Lexus user manual and see if I have missed any items. James

  38. TBO my main criteria for the RCF was condition & a low mileage with The Mark Levinson . Also wasn’t bothered about the TVD as happier with the standard diff as car will never be tracked. I wanted that aspect of the cars chaaracter to be as analogue as possible - well as analogue as any car can be these days!. Never used the adaptive cruise control on the ISF or any car before it so wasn’t bothered about that either - I don’t do a lot of miles in my cars so I want to drive it even if it’s in a 50mph average speed camera zone.

  44. 7 is way off the mark for Press cars it’s considerably more than that. Many ‘Lexus senior management ‘ allocated cars were used heavily by journalists and Lexus employees for such things as hill climb events and promotional work. When the LC was launched for instance a lot of Rcf & Gsf were pressed into service, excuse the pun for all manner of things including many cars that were on sale. I have a list of almost all of these cars that included photos and videos of what they were being used for. It currently stands at 39 vehicles, this does include the GsF’s. As @Linas.P quite rightly points out it is inevitable these cars are going to be driven in a manner for which they are intended. Big Rat

  45. Oh ok - do you know what the RCF figures currently are for the uk out of interest?
    1 point
  46. I kind of disagree, Black one at Hatfields was at sub-£35K mark for over half-year now and 3-4 cars are always available to choose from. My issue is that most of them don't have either TVD, or Sunroof or ACC/PCS. And I haven't seen such cars for under £35k for a while. There is one RC-F for £29k (cheapest ever) now with all bits, but 46k miles are quite high for the age.

  47. Sounds like a plan but as you say it will take some research. Only car I have had with better residuals than the ISF was a Williams Clio, which just goes to show that rarity is a good thing.

  48. Bang on and exactly my thoughts. This is my goal over the next few cars. Buy the right car at the right price and sell for as little loss as possible. Sounds easy but it neeeds a lot of research. Managed with my isf and my Evora and rcf is the next one then hopefully a Aston v8vs and then who knows!
