...with a 2018 CT 200h F Sport 🙂 Got a deal on a pre-registered example with additions of comfort pack, protection pack and leather seats. The colour is quite a head turner and makes a change to seeing all the grey German cars I passed on the way home! I did consider jumping a few other manufacturers and also considered moving up the IS but I don't really need something bigger and the CT is just such a comfortable car for me. There will probability be a well cared for 2 forum owners (myself and @PWOOD) 2014 white Advance appearing on the forecourt soon, perhaps to be picked up by someone on here (or a new member).

Can see the draw of the Cup 2 if you are going to use the car on track, but doubt the expense is worth it for every day road use. Suspect the advantages would probably only be really noticeable under track driving conditions anyway, but interested to know from those with experience whether that is the case. Shame they didn’t do an on road comparison for every day road use as well, even if it was only a similar summary description /table. It’s where most tyres spend the majority of their time unless it’s on a dedicated track car.

I have had some Lexus jobs done free - it's all based, I think, on building a solid and respectful relationship with the Service Department staff.

I get my dealer to do most basic stuff for free. Wipers cost £30 from Lexus dealer inc fitting, tyre fitting is £12.50 per tyre and they discount all their initial prices meaning an air con recharge is about £60 which seems to be the going rate. I would change dealers to be honest. Lexus Edinburgh is only 40 mins away

Picked up my grey carbon rcf yesterday. Looks lovely and Lexus done good job in prepping it with new new brakes and tyres and service etc Will start a new thread soon.

Surely it depends on how they tested it. If it's being tested on the motorway it's going to be really high anyway. I'm sure other manufacturers are the same, just look at VW dieselgate. Other manufacturers were found to have high emissions too

This should be a warranty issue. I bought an RX400h from a main dealer, a few months later I discovered a hole in the exhaust. They didn't want to know so I got Lexus UK involved on Twitter. The dealer had their arse kicked and I got a whole new exhaust system. That is a ripoff, just go to ECP or similar and fit it yourself. No tools required. As long as the CV joint is still working properly I wouldn't worry about this yet. Another ripoff. Just replace the shocks with compatible units, any garage can easily do this, it's a common job. The lower control arm bushes - I bet they're quoting for new arms. You can either get a garage you trust to source new bushings and install on the existing units, or you can buy whole new arms yourself and have a local garage install them (don't buy cheap Chinese rubbish from Ebay). Either option is way cheaper than their quote. Lol, ARB bushings are very cheap to install. Any garage can do this at a fraction of that price. Let your MOT station determine this. Not a serious issue unless the car is wandering around on the road, or the tyres are wearing abnormally. Don't do anything here until the suspension has been worked on. Fix the most important issues first, NOT at a Lexus dealer but at a local garage (maybe find a Toyota specialist, they're all the same bits). Work on the minor issues as and when you can afford them. Then enjoy the car, it will last a long time.

Quality wise good ones are better maintained due to the their strict mot rules. Also due to the fact they dont use salt on their roads the underneath of the cars is far better. Its easier to get low mileage cars there as they dont use them as much. For instance my elgrand is quite high miles at 85 k miles . But its mint inside. And underneath looks like a 3 year old car here

I would expect the radiator to be replaced under warranty. The shocks are a bit hit/miss. Some owners get them done under warranty, others have a hard time pushing for it but they should really be covered. Bushes are wear and tear so I dont expect those to be covered. Wheel alignment the same. Air filter would be wear and tear too. Try and get the radiator done under warranty unless its been damaged by a rock or something.

This is I believe the current wording from the Extended Warranty Document " Eligible vehicle A Lexus vehicle which - (a) has been branded and sold by Our Holding Company, Toyota Motor Europe NV/SA in Europe as a Category M1 Lexus passenger motor vehicle; (b) not have been modified structurally, mechanically or electronically otherwise than with the permission of Toyota Motor Europe NV/SA or save for the purpose of enabling it to be lawfully re-registered in the United Kingdom; (c) have standard Lexus wheels and normal road tyres fitted to it; (d) possess or be capable of possessing a European Certificate of Conformity; (e) was purchased through the Lexus Approved Used Car Programme with the benefit of a Lexus Extended Warranty; or (f) is less than 10 years old and has less than 140,000 miles on its milometer at the start of the first Warranty" Note that in (f)....."at the start of the first warranty" I contend that as your first Warranty met the mileage and age criteria that you should be eligible to continue with it. Ask Lexus to explain their decision in the context of the wording.

then just change the wheels over on the spot and get a new MOT on the spot ......... ?? The Tester can do that surely ? My indy actually takes my car to the MOT he has arranged and deals with issues like this " on the spot " AND I would anticipate the Tester mentioning that he would be failing that specific tyre if it were to be on the car when he came to actually " test " that specific tyre there's surely simple and logical sensible ways to overcome such an irritant ! .... and inconvenience Malc

WOT means wide open throttle. The colder the air the better. Colder air is denser, denser air = possibility of more power. Although this mod is more about surface area and lack of restriction than cold air - it gets cold air anyway. The EGR valve is for emission control - nothing to do with getting an engine 'up to temp'. Engines need cold air. Yes the filter will need changing more often. I'd imagine you won't be able to redline your engine anyway - the VVTi system has probably never been exercised in its life so it probably won't make it that far up the rev counter! Make sure you clean the cobwebs out from under your accelerator pedal and continue to enjoy your LS 🖒 😉 Different strokes for different folks.

I take it that you bought the car from a main dealer. Check the MOT history of the car online and see if see if there were advisories on it the last time it was done before the dealer did one as all of these things apart from the air filter should be picked up on an MOT. If these things were noted on the MOT before the dealer acquired the car but not on the one that they paid for or did themselves then you can go back to them and say that the price didn't reflect the true condition of the car so sort it! I say this because many times before I have bought cars from dealers, both main dealers and independents, whereby they sell it with a fresh MOT with no advisories and it should have either failed or had advisories but then honesty wouldn't be good for sales would it? You could also report the garage that did the MOT to VOSA if you think that they have not done the job properly. If you get nowhere with them then you could take it to an independent garage and get them to inspect the car and quote you for repair including parts and labour because those prices quoted are out of this world!

Took it back to Kwikfit this morning, who recharged it free of charge. They said it was showing about 500g of refrigerant (it should be 600g plus or minus 50g). Anyway, car seems to be working fine now, so I'll see how it goes.

From experience Cup 2's need heating up before they grip above/beyond the MPSS or MPS4S tyres. If using car for occasionally not really an issue. For a daily driver (as mine is) may become an issue.

I've been out there and they do have nice cars. I looked at a 26k mile Toyota Soarer that looked like it had just come out of the factory, with no swirl marks anywhere! No pressure from them and their salesperson was actually knowledgeable about the car which was a surprise.

Hmmm What is the acronym WOT ? I imagine that you'd need to change the filter every two months given the dust that flies about in an Engine bay. That must be fire retardent foam wrapped around the Air box etc? I always thought that warm air from the EGR valve is better to get engines up to temp, so unless you blank this off, then it perhaps wouldn't make any difference doing the mod? For a street car in the winter you'd be pushing freezing air in most of the time. I've never red lined my car to hear if it makes noise. Still waiting for my ECU to return from the States so can't test it. Not sure I will any way. Interesting though.

Exactly that’s what I do, the most amazing feature is the photo view of the destination that you can view before you get there especially if you are going to a place you’ve never been before

John The misfire may have been caused by the engine ecu adapting to the poor fuel mix and subsequent changes after flushing the system .I would run it for a while yet before doing anything and see if the engine settles down it might be worth while changing the plugs.

UK websites, which usually mislead anyway. Amayama or equivalent for no-nonsense, no mistakes parts! VIN is always the best anyway.

I guess it depends who imports them. I bought mine from a dealer called Goodmayes near Purfleet who are a very big, and professional importer. They supply a certificate to verify the mileage plus a printout of service history showing the mileage. Obviously most of the wording is Japanese but they explained to me what it said and I have no reason to doubt them. I was also given the Japanese auction info with photos of the car at auction also verifying the mileage. After a fair amount of research it becomes clear that the Japanese are fastidious when it comes to service/maintenance.

@Womble72 I really miss that car, first of the breed, flew under the radar, humbled a couple of Supercars and never ever let me down once...……. I have always said, the ISf, except from the front, just look right, the rear and rear three quarter view is beautiful, it is as quick as any other F car in 99% of any given conditions and will, I have no doubt increase in value. I am very happy with the GSf, in a way its a grown up ISf, has a bit more tech on it which I must admit does work up to a point, the TVD is very good and it looks more up to date, but is the GSf worth twice as much as an ISf? No way...…………………..

That is nothing to do with forum - idiots drives all sorts of cars! If I understood your scenario correctly, then it is called "merge in turn", which is completely legal, but as you said people get upset and defensive about it... not because BMW or other more powerful cars drivers are doing something wrong or dangerous, but because other drivers simply don't know the rules. Secondly, I believe drives in all makes and models does that, but Premium makes like BMW, MB, Audi sticks out more... people won't notice some rust bucket, but if it is nice and shiny premium car they notice it and sub-consciously are probably jealous . Or it is just prejudice that "oh another BMW pilot flying past" even though there is no fault of BMW driver in that situation. Yesterday, I had exactly same issue (I am driving BMW now) there were 2 lanes merging and it was other lane which has to merge into mine, I let the long van to merge in front of me already and then there were another guy with some rust-bucket cutting me off, preventing me from zip merging even thought technically I was simply continuing on my lane and he was the one to merge. My point - he noted brand new shine BMW going past him in the left lane, because left was going faster as right lane had to merge-in .. and he probably thought "oh yet another BMW driver undertaking, I am not going to let him in"... again didn't even realise it was actually my right of way! Other common issue - you will always find some rust bucket in outside lane on motorway doing 65MPH and not moving over. They doing it deliberately and illegally, because they actually have false perception of the rules - "I don't need to move over if I am doing the limit" or " no need to be speeding".. In reality any right lane is for overtaking only and no matter what speed you doing you must move over (lane discipline is unbelievably poor in UK). Then obviously, there is no other way but to blink few times and eventually undertake, because nobody have time to reeducate these people, BUT if you ask them then they would paint totally opposite picture - "those BMW drivers always flying past at 'dangerous speeds', flashing me and then dangerously undertaking"... that would be their perspective of the circumstances. They imagine themselves as some sort of heroes, police wanabe volunteers etc. Whereas in reality, they are the ones braking the rules and creating dangerous situations.

I’m really happy that hybrid owners like the way they drive and that they’re reliable too. No one says they shouldn’t be offered but more conventional drive trains can and should be offered too. It would open the marque to more people Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ok... Similar 😉 Mine from different heights and angles although car is on driveway which has a decline. It's a Fox exhaust from Germany with black tips instead of standard silver.

If you have the Lexus boot mat, then that can squeak on the tailgate.

As I remember the NX subwoofer is on the boot lid. It's not that is it?
