  1. Well i finaly decided and went down to see the Gs and to be honest was very pleased with it the only dark area that i found was the discs they were a bit rusty and one of the rears had a slight groove in it so we had a detailed discussion on this and we ended up looking at the specs of the discs and they were in the tolerances so i had a good run round in it and tried the brakes harshly and gently and they performed flawlessly so decided to have the car. Yes Adam you were quite right they was ok to deal with very courteous and said slightest problem let us know and we wouldnt expect you to come the 200ml we will arrange with your local lexus to appraise fault and liase with us One thing i noticed on my old SE L i had music options galore 6 Disc player HDD USB BT but this one as 1 disc USB and BT but the other one was overkill i suppose i didnt let that put me off The Mouse thingy was a bit awkward but just after 3 days ive got used to it The journey home was faultless and it was bucketing down with rain and as the tyres were Dunlop Maxx i was a little apprehensive but they were perfect but they are new One minor problem i found was that the Pass mirror did not drop on reverse but a quick phone call got the answer my local lexus told me to put it in reverse then drop mirror with control then back to park and then try again and voilla it worked I will get a few pics when i get myself sorted I would like to Thank you all for the excellent advice given its much appreciated Shahpor Nick Chris Mike Many thanks Robert

  2. Got this on my RX350 also. I was helped by the separate Lexus parking system user manual being included in my book pack. I like that I can turn the front system off by pressing and holding the button, and it automatically resets to on next time ignition is turned on....

  3. Hang on, two minutes.......... ........... yep, enable/disable the front parking sensors. That solves that problem, I noticed the front parking sensors on the Autotrader picture before I bought it. Didn't realise that it was a dealer fitted option.

  4. At long, long last I have had my MK4 LS400 front suspension sorted. The last MOT reported leaking ball joint covers and I've seen the cracks in the lower control arm bushes not to mention the clunk from the driver's side one. There's a small garage that does tyres and servicing in Caversham, Reading and I regularly source tyres for fitting there, not too far from me, always busy with all sorts of cars in for repair. A conversation a while ago ended up with me entrusting the work to them with me sourcing the parts. This was the damage: Lower control arm bushes only - Lexus Birmingham - £95.00 Ball joints - Beck & Arnley (premium) - Rock Auto - £105 including duty, carriage Tie-rod end x1 - £36 sourced on need to replace by garage Alignment - £42 Labour - £231 + VAT Total project bill was £513.00 (I paid the garage £312.00) I'm delighted with the work and the steering wheel is dead dead centre, no more clunks and everything feels steady and solid. I was looking at doing the job myself but on this occasion didn't regret leaving it to the professionals. My motor is also due its annual oil change so I'm just waiting on a sump plug washer. 😊

  5. Hi Guys, Just so you know we can offer you the same parts that your Lexus Dealer will use at cheaper prices. We have had a lot of customers buy the parts from us and get their local dealer to fit them (as they are genuine dealers will fit) Plus you still get warranty and all the stuff. - Hope it helps

  6. Not sure if anyone's into BMW's here but just got this at a very reasonable price, already got the full drivetrain package to swap it into M3 evolution spec with a 43000 mile engine! I'll be working on it most Sundays so can see it being a long project,I've got a thing for fast saloon cars and estates so this fits in with the ISF perfectly.

  9. ...and - of course - it started on the first turn of the key. Did you even doubt it? Perhaps needed a couple of extra seconds to get the fuel from the tank, but to say I was chuffed is an understatement. 🙂 It ran smoothly but quite rich (guessing from the exhaust smell) for a few minutes but then that settled down. Came up to temp; warm air into the cabin. Even the brakes are OK, although I might get them skimmed. It's a '97/98 Mk4 that I bought and put off the road while driving my other LS. (Silly, but it seemed to make sense at the time.) Photo is from just before I parked it up. Just got to get a deep clean done to get the muck/leaves/etc and see how it goes at the MOT station. Cost so far: £80 for a battery. More to follow!

  10. Hi All Fitted some new LED number plate lights today on my LS400. They were around £4 off eBay. Its a quick and easy upgrade and makes such a big difference! Gives it a more upgraded look... very bright I must say. Gave the plastic lenses a good clean aswell to enhance the brightness 🙂 Next job for weekend is upgrading foglights to clear white ones to match with xenon's 😄 excited!

  12. The way Lexus hybrids are made is totally different from thermal engines with start-stop devices, HSD works in synergy and there is no starting motor for thermal engine, so don't worry about feeling when it starts, it will do seamless as there is no transition from electric to thermal traction, it' snot a or/or way of working, electric and thermal work accordingly to needs.

  13. Thanks all. I agree that they will be fine because they will be seated exactly the same on the wheel and there willl be plenty thread inside it. Cheers!

  14. you will be miles into the effective thread length with these, it is nit a concern!!

  15. Like the man said. For bog standard black FRP yes, for any carbon finish is a bit more. Just ordered Twill Weave side skirts on this deal and with the discount plus splitting postage 3 ways with two other buyers they were about $385 all in. There will be import tax to pay when they arrive but they'll still end up a lot cheaper than Tom's original stuff which is about $750 for the side skirts alone.

  16. Hi good luck👍 It’s good where garages are happy fitting customer sourced parts...my Jag indie will do same on wife’s car but I haven’t done that there yet as I’ve fixed a lot of stuff myself. Or he’s best placed to get tricky parts like front uprights. A useful aspect of this is you can buy parts over months or even years when offers or stock becomes available for later fitting. That spreads the costs. You can control the parts quality more easily too. I’m having a lot of business relationships with plumbers at the moment and need resources for my place so it just makes fiscal sense to run efficiently. 😉🧐

  17. Very good prices I think, I'd be more than happy with that, plus you know it's all safe now. I'm having all my steering and suspension thoroughly checked on Tuesday, all in preparation for our next European road trip.

  18. Surely one or other set should be "wrong" as the shoulder on the nut should match the wheel? As I guess the original one does. Too long would be definitely not be fine but shorter I guess works. Understand the concern John as ideally I want my wheel nuts to be exactly the right thing as Mr Lexus intended and not just close. Definitely worth checking.

  19. Regarding the Rear View Door Mirror problem, have a read of this thread, admittely it was for the 'No Tilt when in Reverse' problem but it does show (very well) how to get to mirror mechinisms and check if all is OK. Paul m.

  23. Ahh thanks everyone! I will be back I'm sure. Alex I have a Saris Bone and it was very steady on the back of the LS. I was carrying my road bike, my wifes hybrid and a 24" Islabike. In the boot along with all our bags etc I had another 20" bike with the wheels taken off. The Saris is great and once you've fitted it it's easy to get on and off. Make's the LS very long though. I went to Skye and back with no issues. It maybe worth getting some 3M clear tape to stick where you will put the straps and where the sponge parts press against the bumper and boot lid, as it will leave slight marks. No it didnt last long and I had a few calls within hours. The chap who bought it was a clear enthusiast and had been a 400 owner for 5 years. My car, well his, really was a good one. Certainly Sennen will be worth it but powering out of the Cove wont be quite the same!!

  25. The 2019 RC has the 10.3" multimedia screen. All grades come with Lexus Safety System+ as standard. Centre console has thicker knee cushioning, The suspension has been tweaked, with new shock absorbers, giving a more controlled, compliant ride at lower speeds (plus many more steps in the AVS) harder suspension bushes. The steering has been 'recalibrated' F-Sport comes with painted calipers Subjectively seems quieter inside and less jiggly around town.

  26. All sorted - no dramas. Only advisory was on the rear brakes getting low, which was on my to-do list anyway. I must have been in a lazy mood, as I've just asked them to deal with it - most unlike me!

  27. According to Lexus service schedule, spark plugs are at every 72 Months/60,000 Miles* (whichever comes first) so if this service was done by Lexus I would expect to see 'Plugs' in the 'My Lexus' service history. * This is for emission reasons and plugs can easily last upto 100,000! paul m.

  28. Note, when you own car ( need details from the V5) you can sign up to the ‘My Lexus’ app via Lexus ( ‘My Lexus’ is more user friendly on a phone than a PC for some reason) and view details about cars history including any servicing carried out by Lexus. paul m

  30. Exactly what I was thinking too. My experience is exactly the opposite. The 'run' of the sequentials immediately grabs my attention because they aren't doing the same as everybody else's indicators.

  31. It is probably the strut rod bushings. they do not last. I changed these on a LS400 with only 100k mile on it and it fixed the klonk over road defects. The old ones looked ok with some small cracks but were not. Now changing on my second LS400 year 2000. same issue . Also "look ok" ca 110k miles on that one. I buy OEM Toyota/lexus bushings and press them in myself. ca 30£ each for the bushings shipped to sweden from AMAYAMA. Annoyingly the bolts are often seized or close to. A torch and compressed air tools may help but I cut them and bought new bolts. Another 40£

  33. Hi all, got my fourth quote yesterday £320 a month £16,000 offer for my car, so with the usual max £11,000 deposit I get £5000 cash back. Same term 42 months and 8000 miles. Mike, as I understand it to get proper leather you have to have a Premium pack on the entry model, otherwise it's that rather obvious Taraha simulated leather. The F sport and Takumi have real leather and all models get a sun roof. The larger screen comes standard on the Takumi and comes in one option packs on the F Sport. There is no discount even for a cash deal other than the standard £2000 deposit contribution. Apparently Lexus really frown on dealers giving more money off the car so dealers opt to induce people with an alternative offer or offers, e.g Five years servicing etc. My experience however is that dealers are manipulating deals by discounting the car further and hiding it in the maths of the PCP. I'm waiting on a final offer from a dealer where I bought my LS460. After that I want to move so I can order in Feb as lead times indicate a June/July delivery.

  35. I hear what you're saying, but the point is that it's not a 'manual' mode on the Lexus 250, it's a 'sports' mode. I understand that it might have some use to assist with braking, but is that really necessary? Personally, I'd rather let the brake pads take the strain than the gearbox. However, I know people who'd disagree with me. I use it to assist with downhill braking, e.g. in a 40 mph zone if you start going downhill the car will speed up and unless you brake, will exceed the limit (watch out for those speed cameras!). So i'll often switch into S and immediately downshift into 3rd. I don't like braking all the way down a gentle hill, it wears out the brake pads, gets load of brake dust on your alloys, and annoys people behind who are in the 'correct' gear. It won't wear out the gearbox doing this, the braking effect comes from the engine. What i would really like would be the ability to down/up shift manually without having to move the lever into S - i believe you can do this in some BMWs. The gearbox would have to be pretty smart though, otherwise it'll just shift back up or down again immediately! Oh, and for extra sports 'shove, i switch the sports mode button on - you know the one that's completely hidden by the steering wheel and which you have to feel for...... :duh:

  36. Hi, just information for owners. Last Saturday night my car was parked in a car park in Retford and an attempt was made to steal the catalytic converter from my car. An angle grinder was used to cut through the clips and then the front exhaust but they also cut through the pipe containing the engine cooling system. Quote from Lexus for new exhaust and catalytic converter was £3800, luckily my Lexus Independent garage managed to weld the exhaust and the coolant pipe at a cost of £336.
