  2. RF53 PGX is the reg plate if you want to check the MOT history, the current one runs until March 2023. Some of the advisories mention suspension components, might not be cheap: Suspension arm pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement both front Tyre worn close to legal limit/worn on edge both rear Offside Rear Suspension arm pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement They've listed it as a one owner car. Exterior and interior look really clean, generally looks like it's been well looked after, no obvious rust spots or dents, hardly any wear on the steering wheel, tyres seem to have plenty of tread on them. There's some higher resolution pictures of the car here: https://www.sdvehicles.co.uk/details/used-car-in-nuneaton/lexus/ls430/4.3/691010/

  3. Your battery will be the same size and type as mine as it has not been replaced since new, that is a 51Ah Panasonic VRLA (Valve Regulated Lead Acid) battery of AGM type. That means the battery acid is absorbed in a glass mat rather than being free to slosh around freely. The AGM batteries are more expensive than the free flowing ones, the main reason being because in the event of a serious accident acid will be retained and not spill on the car occupants. If you want a plug and play type of replacement you are limited to the original Panasonic, which seems only available from franchised dealers including Parts Direct, or a Yuasa version now made which is also expensive. However, if you accept the very small risk of acid spill as mentioned above, it is possible to fit a free flow lead acid alternative that is less expensive and with more brand choice. Furthermore, these can be of higher Ah. I wanted to retain an AGM type of battery that was less expensive than the dealer replacement, was higher Ah, and was of a type that was readily available. I achieved this by buying a Halfords (Yuasa) AGM one which has a 5 year warranty, ie 4 years longer than the Lexus Panasonic but it did mean cutting the plastic battery base ends to accommodate the extra battery length. As I wanted to retain the original battery earth strap, it did mean buying another terminal and making two distance pieces so the existing battery hold down strap can be retained. I did post details with pics which I will find and link to if anybody is seriously interested. The replacement battery I fitted is 60A and is a size made by other brands. Be aware that every time you let your 12v battery go near flat, it will reduce its life. If you do go with an AMG battery, the charger you buy should be set on AGM charging mode and be of a type that charges at 5amps maximum. I use the model mentioned earlier in this thread.

  4. Monica - Herbie's recommendation of battery supplier is bang on the money. Our RX's battery failed last year (2014 !!) and we replaced it from Lexus Parts Direct. Fast delivery and cheaper than your dealer doing it for you! I made a point of maintaining an auxiliary 12v battery connection to the car whilst changing the battery, and thus didn't lose any of the settings on the car or alarm systems. (Easy to do - and can save a deal of faffing about!)

  5. Hey everyone, Former GROM VLINE2 owner, I managed to replace my stock stereo with a Head Unit from XTRONS and I've had a few people show some interest in it so I made this quick little review video for it. Whats good about this is with some efforts from myself and XTRONS you can get near full functionality with this for pre facelift as well as facelift vehicles. For NAVI vehicles you do need to buy an additional fibre optic box to maintain the OEM audio quality.I'll stick some links below. https://xtrons.co.uk/lexus-various-android-10-octa-core-4gb-ram-64gb-rom-integrated-4g-solution-pma10isls https://xtrons.co.uk/lexus-various-iso-wiring-harness-most The Teyes CC3 is a better head unit overall to but I wasn't a fan of getting one of their units with the OEM Stereo like configuration with the buttons as that was the only one that supported facelift NAVI vehicles like mine. I've been running this for close to 8 weeks and its been rock solid so figured I'll share this here incase anyone else is interested in something like this. On the to do list is add DAB Radio, TPMS sensors as well as my 360 reverse camera system which this head unit does support.

  6. My RX450h will be up for sale soon as my new NX should be with me in the next couple of months. So if you are interested its a 2012 in pearlescent white, premier with pan roof. Full Lexus service history, so relax warranty until Oct 2022, MOT March 2023. I haven't really looked at prices yet, so I will have to do some homework on that one. As I don't know exactly when the NX will be ready, this is just to see if anyone on here would be interested before I advertise it on Auto trader or trade it in later on.

Bearing in mind I had to wait 40yrs for my first new car 😂😂😂

  8. Good evening all, I currently own a Volvo XC60 T8 Inscription Pro which will be four years old in October. I'm looking at options for my next car and whilst I really like the Volvo the current model is very similar to my existing car and in the case of some features a downgrade. I've been looking around and the new Lexus NX 450h+ is definitely catching my eye (I can put up with a slower 0-60). However, after sifting through the details the model and spec I would go with for the NX is F-Sport with Takumi Pack until tonight when I discovered the 450h+ doesn't permit the inclusion of 17-Speaker Mark Levinson Premium Surround System. I like my music and the XC60 has a B&W speaker and sound system. So can anyone tell me why the 450h+ doesn't permit the upgraded Mark Levinson sound system? Paul

  9. Finally managed to get some photos. Had it around 3 weeks now but done very few miles. Absolutely loving the car, brilliant drive, very quiet and comfortable - I came from a SQ5 so was worried I would miss the performance - shouldn't have been, performance is very impressive. Sorry I can't comment on economy, it came with a full tank and still has a full tank. I've charged it twice and as my mileage is mainly local, it never runs the engine. I am keen to get a few miles on the engine before any long motorway trips so have been trying to flatten the battery, proving more difficult than I anticipated. Battery just reached 30% and the engine has just started to kick in, although I only know by looking at the dash. Still waiting to hear back about the wall box charger but to be fair the included charger comfortably charges the car overnight. I was surprised to find that it came with heated rear seats, I thought they had been dropped. Loving the black seats by the way, they are more grey to be fair and I figured they would be a more practical choice with kids in the car. Had hazel in two RX's which did start to look grubby - easily cleaned though. Don't remember what lead me to think that it came with card and digital key, it doesn't (450h+ F Sport Takumi). I did get a speed limiter, which I wasn't anticipating. Works really well as the limiter pretty much adjusts the speed according to the speed limits picked up by either the nav or road signs, just requires a button press to acknowledge the change. Heads up is brilliant as are the steering wheel controls, 14in infotainment system and digital rear view mirror. Lexus Hull made a great job of fitting the front and rear dash cams which came at a very reasonable £375 in fact, the service was first rate from start to finish. I already feel this is going to be one of my favourite cars to date.

  10. Well yes, thats what I thought about these events, its to drive sales, but I had hoped that Lexus UK may be offering the dealer a rebate if they sell during this period, which in turn gets passed on as a discount. I guess its all down to who keeps control of the negotiating and knowing when to walk away if its not what you are prepared to do.

  15. Personally I wouldn't worry too much about which model but focus more on the overall condition. All potential cars will be over 25 years old, so will be showing it in some areas, even if the mileage is low. The buyer's guide referred to by Paul should give you plenty of pointers, but please ask if you need to know more. Don't forget to check and make sure all the electrics work, there are a lot of them! Any malfunctions can be frustrating to sort out. Don't ask!

  16. there is a breaker , ACD breakers in Accrington. You can find them with good old Google. Only place in the country that had a radiator header tank for mine , half the price of Lexus. Other option is Lexus Spares Direct ,got my spiral cable from them their charges include vat whereas Cheltenham lexus wanted same price plus vat,

  18. Could it be that the system simply responds to the TPMS valves that are sending a signal? In other words, it doesn’t recognise that one valve is missing, but only that the signals it’s receiving are correct. Just my guess! I suppose you could check by deliberately deflating one of the other wheels and see if that now comes up as a fault.

  19. Ok, appreciate the link and it calls the two systems ‘Direct’ and ‘Indirect’ it also states that all Lexus cars after 2012 are fitted with ‘Direct’ system. But Johnlex has a 2009 ( according to his profile!

  20. I'm afraid that I don't know the answer Dave but, although I assume you know this already, it can't hurt to reiterate it - when you regas the system, make sure you use ND11 oil rather than the PAG oil found in conventional cars because PAG conducts electricity and will damage the motor.

  23. So, confirmed it was the cable causing the issue. Using a 32A cable, I got ~6kw over the hour this morning at an AC Pod Point. It should have been 6.6 which is the max the 300e can do, however the other 3 bays were also charging most of the time I was there, so perhaps the charge was derated slightly to keep them from drawing too much? Not sure if they do that or not. Anyway, I'll keep an eye on it in the future, but at least I now know it's not a car issue.

  24. Hey Davey, I own a 19 plate F-sport with 10 inch screen /nav which i think was called 'Premier pack' option when i ordered the car new in May19 and took delivery in July19. The book price for this at the time was £39,800 but im Scottish and only paid £36,500. Its hard to tell if your paying too much as the second hand car market has gone bonkers in recent times due to production shortages with new cars caused by global issues round the world. Negotiation wise i found little joy, most dealers offered me zero discount whatsoever when i offered to pay cash, yet offered me £500-£2500 off when taking a PCP deal. Anyway i ended up buying mine from Lexus newcastle who i could not fault in any way whatsoever, great bunch of guys compared to the arrogance and inflated prices of the scottish dealers. Rob

  26. The price of all used cars has massively gone up recently Bear in mind I got a White F-Sport with 10k miles, exactly 2 years old with the red leather and premium nav for £23k. That was from Lexus Chester Cazoo are basically selling the same vehicle with 8k miles more for £24,250 and I cant imagine 8k miles costing £5.7k on essentially the same vehicle. Take a detailed look into the service history first though as cazoo has been known to sell cars with different services than stated on their website https://www.cazoo.co.uk/car-details/e5e589cb-f7f8-5219-a9ed-4bfde2329ac3/?utm_campaign=car-listing&utm_medium=aggregators&utm_source=autotrader The autotrader valuation is rubbish by the way. It doesnt take into account any options or the condition of the vehicle so really not worth anything.

  27. There are mobile firms who will come out and work on your windscreen. On YouTube there is a good video called "super clean your Windshield" or something like that, here he uses amongst other stuff 0000 wire wool. Note that it must be 4 noughts, nothing less. I have used this for years in all soughts of way. For example with chrome cleaner on the exhaust tips of my XKR - perfect result no scratching whatsoever.

  28. And with the way electricity prices are also going up, we can all probably predict which way used prices on these Teslas will go. Its more amazing any owner of these cars would even want to sell them right now, 'free' fuel for essentially forever, honestly why would you give that up??

  29. People are entitled to their opinions even if all the facts state otherwise, that being said the IS220d/200d isnt an awful car objectively but it is a pretty awful Lexus and falls short compared to the IS250. If your preference is to the Diesel IS then all you can hope for is largely trouble free miles but if OP wants some peace of mind I'd stick with an IS250 or go for a 3rd Gen Hybrid IS if he can swing it.

  30. Yes, not a fast car, at 11 seconds 0-60mph, but no turbo lag on my stock 1996 petrol AW70/71 Auto with 2.3 litre B230FK low pressure turbo and still drives well with 207,000miles. A good engine match to the gearbox. Economy is not it's strong point either. Around 25mpg average. maybe a bit more on a long run. 31. Haha its all good, I did have a cheapo dash cam from Amazon in my car for a while but it just looked a little off so my motivations for the Road Angel were largely in part aesthetics 🤣 Haha glad you made the right choice, its sad we have to resort to such measures but especially since the pandemic started assuming nothing is sacred and don't trust strangers, especially ones that bash into your car on the road!

  36. While I have no negotiation skills can't help with that but what I can suggest is have a look at Auto trader valuation. They have a page that will tell you what to expect to pay for private/dealer prices. This will give you an idea on whether the price is to high or not. Good luck 👍

  42. Thank you for taking the time , we can have no problems for a few days then other days we would have to jump it each time we use it. Seems fine after a longer run for a few days then Bam won't start again. It's getting annoying now which prompted me to come and investigate. I am glad you think is the 12V battery.
    1 point
  43. I'd stake a month's salary on it being the 12V battery dying. The alarm will (should) have it's own back-up battery and as the main 12V battery is low, the alarm back-up battery is also going low, which in turn activates the alarm because it thinks it's being tampered with. When you get a new battery you really need to try to use the car more but if that's not ractical, two alternatives are to connect a trickle charger such as the CTEK MX5 or to run the car in READY mode, whilst in P, for 60 minutes a week.
