  1. Why do I get the feeling you two aren't going to be best friends? So, from what I understand, Linas doesn't like the engine fitted to the 200t. On the other hand, John doesn't quite believe the performance claims of the IS250. If this is indeed the case, may I humbly suggest that you agree to disagree and accept the fact that nothing good will come from further conversation on these topics? Of course, we know who the real culprit is here..... @Big Rat for bringing up such a dangerous topic of conversation!

  2. Collected my RCT coupe on Monday from Motorline, Canterbury. Over the moon with it, comfy, responsive and loads of positive responses. First of many photos to come.

  3. @dougie175 Yes and no. The paintwork isn't as slick, smooth and water-repellent, but it does have a considerably deeper shine (which is welcome on a silver car), plus I found it easier and more enjoyable to apply (nice coconut smell). Not a great example as this is a before pic I took whilst I was setting-up and the car is dirty (last washed 9 days ago). I've been driving the car around during those 9 days too but you can probably still see some of the inherent shine of the DJ wax. I could only dodge the rain long enough to give my car a quick snow-foam and rinse before it started raining again, so no after pic. The next time it's properly clean I'll try and capture what it looks like.

  4. Finally a word from an IS200t owner who drives his everyday not a test drive to appreciate its values.. what Europe/UK needs is the 3.5 hybrid engine from the GS450h in two spec's. Model 1 can be badged IS350h with a detuned power of 265BHP and model 2 IS400h with a detuned power of 320bhp. so wont tread on GS450h toes in terms of power output..

  6. Got a spare hour this evening so gave the car a nice wash and quick re-wax with some more fusso, was nice and easy to wash, the dirt was just sat on the fusso not stuck to it! Even got chance to do a nice video of the beading on the bonnet

  7. I've just seen this as been in non internet land . As an IS200t owner this is a real shame for those looking for a decent driving experience who weren't willing to enter the hybrid market or go up to the ISF. I'm talking about IS200 /300 and IS250 owners. However when I bought mine I was aware that only 70 IS200t's had been registered that year and the writing was on the wall. Its a great car, decent performance in sportsmode (sub 7 seconds for 0-60) and fuel economy on a run in the late 40's. The engine is smoother than a smooth thing for a 4 pot and its a real looker with the twin exhaust configuration. I feel lucky to own one.

  8. Many people aren't aware that the fuel pump icon in their fuel gauge tells them which side the fuel filler is on. I believe this is a feature on every production car.

  9. Sorry for the late response guys, building work at home is keeping my busy. Had a spare 10min to try the software I have and it works perfect. Using it on my surface pro running Windows 10. No issues with connecting to the car, reads all the ECUs and even Let's me customise various setting to when I want the doors to lock etc.

  11. @mikeyv I've followed up on one and the fee was as you discribe, the dealer then put his mark up on it which came to a little over 5k. Another member on here was going to go for the car but upon some research decided against it. As I've said before if youve not got a lot of experience in car mechanics and an ability to spot issues quickly in the model of car you are interested in or at least take a knowledgeable friend it can be fraught with problems. Or you may bag a bargain 😏 🐀

  12. hardly believe it ............ the NC500 route was " created " in 2015 to promote Scottish holidays ... Brilliant ......... and looking at a Daily Mail ( google search threw it up ) article from then it shows the NC500 being in the Top 6 world Road Trips ............just ..... with amongst others, the Cape Overberg route ( I did this more or less, unknowingly, in a month's motoring holiday around South Africa in 1988 ) and also the Amalfi Coast, which again i did on my 2015 ( France, Switzerland, then ) round Italy Grand Tour over 5/6k miles and 4/5 weeks in 2015 .... ........... so I've actually done 3 of the Top 6 World Best Road trips without even knowing it ......... ....... ain't I just soooooo lucky .... life's good to me eh ! But I sure did realise at the time how wonderful those motoring holidays were, such magnificent and breathtaking scenery ......... and the last two in my Mk3 Ls400, the very best Grand Tourer car ever Malc

  17. I think that's what we've all been waiting for but it wont happen. Like you I'd be on it like a shot despite having just come from the 3 litre N55 BMW. Its all or nothing, Lexus are yet again rolling over and letting Audi and BMW tickle their tummy, patting them on the head and sending them off to bed as the awkward little upstart brother. Is my friend Linus on this thread rejoicing in the demise of the car he admitted he never did get to drive..I guess so.

  20. Yeah, snow foam struggles to cling to it as well. I've noticed that with my top layer now being Dodo Juice wax, instead of Fusso. The beads are huge and really spherical. They literally take hours to dry off after it's been raining.

  23. Lexus should do the right thing now it's decided to pull the plug on the turbo and introduce the awesome 350 to the uk. This car is a beast and will out perform most cars on uk roads today. Not only that it keeps the awesome V6 engine that makes the 250 such a fantastic car. The 350 in the uk would sell like hot cakes and I would be the first to buy.

  29. This is confirmed, because look at the original launch of the third gen IS, the sales of IS250 were nearly non-existant with most people choosing the Hybrid model.

  30. From when people care about fuel economy in US? And again we are going in circles - you just basically said same thing just in different way... as I was telling for long time. Lexus UK range is not good. Because they have IS/RC350 in US 2.0t makes perfect sense and I agree that is was deliberately designed not to be competitor to 3.5v6. But here in UK we don't have 3.5 v6 and 2.0t doesn't make sense on it's own. If during the days of mk2 there would have been hybrid it would have killed IS220d, not IS250. Clearly back then hybrid tech would have sucked ... unless Lexus would have committed themselves to IS450h

  33. Hi Paulo - I did this and traded in my 09 ISF for a 12 model last year. For me it made sense, same car but all the upgrades etc. of the UK run-out version. I had my 09 for four years and was looking for a replacement and like the ISF so much I was happy to stick with it via a later model. Very subjective choice, but worked for me and as I have said on other posts, for me the ISF trumps other 'F' cars so was good enough to justify this.

  34. I wouldn't bother, mine is a 2009 and having driven a few 2010/11 cars when buying, it's not worth paying the premium if you have an earlier low mileage minter. If your wanting a GSF/RCF in the future, save your money for one of them. Marcus

  36. This is a post I remembered from some time ago, the belt rarely snaps but bearing wear in the idler/tensioner and waterpump can cause the belt to run untrue resulting in what you see.

  39. Well, perhaps you could get a video of the noise after the 20 mile run and we can see how it sounds with the clutch depressed? Sorry about not being more definitive, but it is hard to diagnose sounds on forums sometimes. Hopefully yours will be fixed quickly and cheaply.

  40. 250 is still a far superior car though despite being SLIGHTLY slower. The 250 was never supposed to be a performance car unlike the 200t that simply isn't quick enough for its class. People buying 2 litre turbo vehicles are looking for quick acceleration and power. The 200t simply does not deliver. Nobody wants to buy it in the uk and that's why lexus have give it neck.

  45. no its not a stupid comparison we are talking about luxury and refinement right?? You see Linas you are completely missing the target here. an IS is meant to be a Sports Saloon with a touch of luxury and not the other way round. which IS200t fits in perfectly.. And no IS250 is NOT a better car than the Executive Honda Accord be it in driving dynamics, handling and spec..
    1 point
  46. Surely thats because the 3 series is 200kg less in weight rather than the power of the engine itself.

  47. 4 pot engines be it NA or Turbo can sound nice and not trashing as you put it.. i have owned a V6, Striaght 6 and V8 and can tell you the 4 pot engine in my Accord is just as smooth and less trashing when compared to the V6 and straight 6 infact it actually goes about its business like a 6 cylinder. cruises like a 6 and has its own 'race' engine note at top end. below is one accelerating and i couldn't hear a trashing engine if any thing it sounded/accelerated in a composed way infact it actually got quieter the faster it was going...

  48. Linda.p- Let's get real, the only reason anyone would consider the is250 over a is200t is price, it's miles cheaper, all the rest are excuses to make you feel better. The new IS is a better car all round, if the criteria for a car was to FEEL fast we'd all be in go-carts. Things move one, the is250'is just old now, nothing wrong with that but it's delusional to say it's underpowered by any measure apart from what's in your head!
    1 point
  49. Linas is back with his BS again. If you do a proper 0-62mph run, you'll find the IS250 gets to 62mph in 3rd gear. So yes 40-60mph will take 10.3s because there is barely any power available as the engine will be lugging at 2-3k rpm. The max power comes at over 4k
