  1. I've been using the link below for parts numbers/diagrams for my 89 Merc for just over a year or so, to avoid using the official Mercedes EPC route which can be a bit flaky in use. I see Lexus is also listed, which is nice; a few other manufacturers have been added recently too. https://7zap.com/en/ Hopefully of some use

  15. What's with all this penny pinching economy driving? You don't buy a car like a 450h or any luxury car like a Lexus for economy!!! If you aren't going to utilise the performance of a car like this you might as well drive a 1 litre hatchback!!! 🤣🤣🤣 For the record I averaged around 25-27mpg day to day and around 38mpg on a run from my 450h before it went kaput. The only way I can see of getting more than that is to crawl along the inside lane at about 60mph and where's the fun in that? My merc S500 does about 19-21 day to day and about 30-33mpg on a run which I think is good for a 5 litre V8 and I don't hang about!!!

  16. Just bought a second hand IS250 from the Arnold Clark garage in Edinburgh. Picked it up yesterday. 65k miles, very good nick, Brechin blue is the colour. Cloth trim seats rather than leather....was having trouble finding a leather clad model anywhere near Aberdeen that did not have excessive wear on the driver's bolster. Does not have all the gadgets (ie touch screen sat nav, heated seats, electric adjustment etc) but has a glorious 2.4ltre V6 petrol engine that did 40mpg from Falkirk to Aberdeen. Happy driver for the price I paid. Also took out a 2 year servicing and MOT plan for £109 due to getting mates rates (50% off) but declined their offer of an extra 10 month warranty for £297 which even with 50% off makes it more expensive that the Lexus one! Here's hoping nothing goes wrong. Drives very well. From about 50mph to a higher number it just pulls like a train....had an old style Audi A6 with V6 petrol engine and it was similar...fast, quiet and nice to drive. Wife and daughter both impressed with it's speed, quietness and sound system.

  18. Found a neat feature on my GS today...parked up, closed the door and manually pushed in the wing mirror. On my return I forgot to pull out the mirror. When I started up the car, it automatically rotated the wing mirror back to the normal position. Clever Lexus.

  19. Some have had the devil of a time correctly diagnosing water ingress in the RX. May I suggest some water is directly fed into that sunroof drain to establish that is the source before attacking the roof trim. Good luck.

  20. It is a good point regarding the 'Italian tune up'. I think most people assume that the gentler they drive a car, the better. I know my mum had a related problem with hers. After plodding around London for years, her car wouldn't idle from the amount of carbon build up in the throttle body. In case you need any motivation, this is what one Audi TT engine looked like after no oil changes for 84k miles!

  21. I was at the Wings & Wheels event today and had the chance to sit in a couple of the new Mustangs. The good stuff: - lovely manual gear shift/gate in the V8 I sat in - the overall look style of the car Not so good: - really cheap (typical US) interior, the door cards, steer wheel controls/inserts, seats, switchgear all very low rent Compared to the quality and fitting of the ISF I'd say there was no competiton. For me the ace would be a stick shift V8, but only driving one would determine the real differences/benefits over an F. So on first viewing I'd the ISF is head and shoulders above the Mustang. Has anyone else driven a Mustang and can make more informed observations than me?

  23. I leave mine in ECO all the time except up/down steep hills when I use sports mode for the rev counter and paddle shifts. Also sports mode for a quick pass. I did a proper fuelly over the last 1000 miles and averaged 57.5 MPG so it works for me.

  25. I marvel at you guys who have the patience to undertake all these waxing and polishing tasks. Though I like my car looking nice an shinning, I just don't have the skill, the last time I tried polishing a car was over 20 years ago even then I gave up halfway and had to be rescued by a pal. sadly for someone like me I guess I have to pay the professionals to have something like this done. Respect to Ala Larj for his efforts on the red GS.

  27. Just had a look at the terms of the warranty and I will be contacting lexus again as it clearly states that TWG administer the warranty but the warranty provider is Toyota. Nowhere does it state it's an agreement with the dealer! I feel lexus customer customer service are just uninterested, I even had to point out that in his reply he refererred to the fault as an exhaust pipe and not a heat shield.. Administrator The company that administers this Warranty on behalf of the Warranty Provider. The Administrator is TWG Services Limited which has it registered address at Twenty Kingston Road, Staines-Upon-Thames, Surrey, TE18 4LG Warranty Provider The Company that provides this Extended Warranty and ultimately pays all valid claims made under it. The Warranty Provider is Toyota (GB) PLC (Lexus Division) which has its registered office at Great Burgh, Burgh Heath, Epsom, Surrey KT18 5UX.

  30. In my time I have been through many products and have more than the Misses has makeup! Overall, Poorboys products are great, they are also good value. I polish my beast twice per year. Note polishes will remove minute quantities of the paint i.e. they are abrasive so you don't want to use them too often. Every other week it gets wax. Once per year it gets clayed. Products I use are: Poor boys World: SSR1 - small swirl remover 1 - if you have swirls, I would recommend this. Polish w/carnauba (blue) smells like bubble gum! You can use it in sun or shade, on bumpers and plastic it does leave residue and it goes on so easily Natty's paste wax - blue Black hole glaze All put on using Maguires DA2 orbital polisher. Also use Farecla G3 Super Gloss Paste Wax - bloody good stuff this is and cheap for what it is. ~£25. Autoglym HD wax is good but not in G3's league and it's pricey. Hope this helps.

  31. Very nice - the red is a lovely colour and suits the GS, especially with your interior choice Ive resorted to using Sonax BSD or Carplan No1 super gloss on the RX - its too bloody big to wax as well as polish!

  34. Very interesting Ste. Thanks for posting. The comment from Ray of Lexus Customer Services seems (albeit arguably) to suggest something I have suggested on other threads re Lexus Warranties, namely the value of seeking and maintaining an excellent relationship with the local Lexus Dealership. 37. Yes it's neat that the sensors return it to the set position, Lexus have always been clever with mirrors. I wish they would bring back the ultrasonic door mirrors used in the V8 Soarers. Cleaned the raindrops away in a matter of seconds.

  38. interestingly my insurance is due. The usual comparison website told me the private value of my 08,75k miles is 7k!! Seven thousand! Lord help any of us if we write ours of, although this white one helps the argument of course. in other news I've been meaning to say doe a while my misfire was cured by tech one in sidcup. It was a combination of a cracked plug, failing mass air filter and a curious over tightening of the air intake causing it to kink and leak pressure under load. I've the photos as that one could happen to others and would be impossible to see without taking it apart.

  40. I contacted lexus and was told the extended warranty is not a manufacturer warranty and is an agreement with the dealership directly, they just offered to get the service manager from the dealer to call me. I was under the impression the warranty was with lexus, it's advertised on the lexus website and comes with lexus assistance? Something for other people to bear in mind.

  41. @Corrado It's a first to find one in this neck of the woods other than Lexus Bristol, yours has gone not sure of the circumstances whether sold or traded. The White one makes yours sound stock 😂 Seriously though looking on the Gov MOT checker site it's even mentioned on there ! Big Rat

  43. Today? Fitted a K&N. Jury's still out on whether it's made any difference but the car does seem a little more responsive, maybe revving a little easier.

  44. That wouldn't be @Flytvr, would it? £6500 is ridiculous, no matter how you look at it. You could probably have someone hand weld a new one for less than that. The ISF seat is probably more expensive then the standard IS one, but it is still no doubt going to be some silly amount. Thanks for the info though, interesting to know.

  45. This is very bad news .Removing the headlining is a major job. You have to start at the bottom and remove lining from the pillars etc before you can take out the headlining. The garage who fixed my sunroof problem took 23 hours of labour to do it. They did have to remove the whole sunroof mechanism so exposing just the drain might not take quite as long. The attached pics show the car once it had been stripped out. Bon courage!

  46. I have occasionally seen all full green bars, but never got to the point where regen stopped completely. In my Prius this has happened on many occasions causing the engine to speed up when braking and slowing down when acceleration is applied even though it is not actually running "being driven by MG1 (motor generator 1)" to burn off or dump power from the battery. John.

  47. Is it attached to the exhaust, or chassis? If chassis, then I'd certainly argue the point.
