  2. Unfortunately the tap on the side of my house for the hose has broken so had to use a paid jetwash elsewhere. It wasn't a full clean that is normally do but managed to wash off the dirt and gave the windows a good lot of rainx so they're easier to do in the future. I must say she scrubs up well :) Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

  4. I'm looking to replace the rear brake calipers on my IS250, will probably do both O/S and N/S at the same time. Anyone know of any cheap deals? I think I'd prefer new over refurbs. Part numbers would be useful if anyone has them? Spotted these non-OEM calipers (Apec / Brake Engineering) https://brakeparts.co.uk/shop/Lexus/Is250/05-12/Is250 Gse20 2.5 Petrol/Rear - Brake Calipers and Wheel Cylinders Does anyone have any experience or knowlege of these parts? Any advice gratefully received.

  5. Great news, need to try and get out in mine a bit more often! Mind you the roads in Kent aren’t as exciting as the Brecon Beacons! glad your enjoying the experience, they are a very special car matt

  6. I picked the car up yesterday lunchtime. I'm absolutely delighted with it πŸ˜€ I can' keep out of it. Spent all yesterday afternoon driving around the brecon beacons. Drove up to welshpool today to visit my grandparents and show off my new Lexus. Will post some pics soon when I've cleaned all that welsh mud off.

  7. Its usually handy when you have slowed down and want to hit resume... Most other cars I've had in the past had been like this. Wife has a Rav4 which does have it. Saw it the owners manual - but it might be just for the radar version....

  8. So another weekend here and loads more done!! Finished off the loom, just waiting for some split corrugated plastic coating to come now... Once that was done i decided to do something about the shocking paintwork in the bay on the passenger side, i sanded the rust down from the battery acid leak and prepped the paintwork. Primer applied ....... ghetto style masking πŸ˜‚ bodywork is not a speciality of mine so i was not expecting anything great but anything would be better than what was there before! Not great but alot better now. With that done i left the heater on it all day. I then started cliping the loom back in place and chucking all the little bits back in the bay on that side. I also managed to get a little more done with the engine, pulled the sumps off, oil pump removed and got the pistons/rods out of it. Engine is in fantastic condition! Not a mark on any of the rod bearings or the bores, no sign of any kind of wear. Not touched the crank mains yet as im waiting for plastigauge to come to measure oil clearances. Also getting a straight edge from work to check the block and bore gauge. Everything will be in spec but as im at this point it would be crazy not to make sure. Ive ordered some of the engine internals now wiseco pistons, brian crower rods, ARP head and main studs, looking at ACL bearings. Once thats done its onto the head, got some tasty things in mind for this too! Hope you guys are enjoying these updates πŸ‘

  10. Lovely car Eamonn. I had an 09 model prior to my RX. Same colour as yours but with ivory interior.....loved the car and had some lovely days out in west Wales. Didn't do my poorly back any good, hence the RX.

  14. The only things that matter are the thread diameter (14mm) and thread length (26.5mm) - same for both. The Denso catalogue here: http://www.denso-am.co.uk/e-catalogue lists both types, IKBH20TT under 'TT' and they're promoting TT as the latest and best. Thanks for bringing this to our attention - my plugs are due for a change really and these prices are a lot more reasonable than I was expecting!

  15. Well, see here: http://www.denso-am.co.uk/media/698507/2015denso457-irtt-product-update-.pdf These came in November 2015, so presumably more or less replace FK20HBR11 which date from pre-2005. They are specified for more Toyota models (mainly Japanese market) so that might explain the price (vast) reduction. And if, as implied above, Lexus Birmingham are supplying these when you order FK20HBR11 - they're making quite a mark-up!

  16. Yep, keep looking on ebay. Different Lexus dealers will put them up from time to time. Also check Lexus Parts Direct which I believe is Lexus Swindon aka fish bros

  18. It looks as if these IKBH20TT are newer, so may be better. Some kind of strange pricing anomaly going on. Even cheaper here: http://www.gsparkplug.com/1x-denso-iridium-tt-spark-plugs-ikbh20tt-4705-042511047051.html Β£6.72! Sent from my PSP7551DUO using Tapatalk

  19. I’m not going up there. They have RCFs and I’m not to be tempted!!!!!!!

  20. Oh - seems they're OK - a lot cheaper than FK20HBR11 - but FK20HBR11 is listed in the Denso catalogue. Sparkplugs. co. uk list these as alternative / equivalent. Sent from my PSP7551DUO using Tapatalk

  21. Yes they are the plugs is that from Us. Lexus birmingham do them for circa Β£80.00 i believe. Also found these cheaper still. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181990203467

  25. @kellogsj Yeah I remember seeing a post you made about replacing calipers where you mentioned Lexus Liverpool. I'm nowhere near but I suppose they would post them. Β£79 seems very cheap if they are new, not reconditioned and not an exchange part. Do you think they would still do that price?

  26. Of course it would help if they discovered the wonders of digital photography, they've had the car for sale for nearly 2 weeks and it still says 'Awaiting Images'. @Flytvr Davi they are your new Bessie mates pop round and give them the benefit of your vast snapper skills 😁 Big Rat

  27. The filter housing on my car also does not have the drain plug feature. This is no big deal as I fail to see the way the filter is orientated that it could drain all of the oil out of the filter housing. In fact only about half making it pretty useless, and adding an extra layer of work to be done. John

  28. Just got to rearrange the laws of physics and we'll be good to go! I don't inherently disagree with the convertiplane concept but as the Americans have found with the V22 Osprey it's almost like the worst of both worlds. With a wingspan that small you're looking at 200~300 MPH in the cruise (a 35' span Cessna 150 weighing ~1600 pounds cruises @ 75MPH on 100BHP, just!) to achieve those kind of speeds is going to require a significant power input......... Nice to dream though. Andrew

  30. I used all genuine toyota bits, all fIlters, oil (0w20), even plugs, although they not made by Lexus/toyota of course. Nippon were cheaper for genuine bits than ecp were with aftermarket bits and a sale one. So ordered the full service kit with the rear shocks and track rod ends (which I didn't need), but they didn't have the ball joints, so I got blue print ones of those elsewhere.

  31. Hi Nick If you're talking about the top of the bumper I got a genuine Lexus protector from Lexus Birmingham. Really good price, quick delivery and excellent service. The protector is an easy DiY fitting job (I used masking tape to find and mark the centre of the bumper and the protector) Lexus Birmingham have a parts shop on eBay; I've just looked the site is there http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Lexus-Birmingham-Parts but it's empty at the moment.

  32. On my last car I used a car battery tyre inflator to blow the vents clean inserting a valve into a junction between the pump motor and the actual jets, remarkable just how filthy the gunk that was blown clear. Result was perfectly working fan jets agian. HTH

  34. I don't know how many cars of this age would look as good as a Lexus. Mine is coming up to 17 and still looks amazing with a bit of effort. This is the result of yesterdays clean up.

  35. When considering a Giula QF last year I heard some horror stories about the after-sales and service department's attitude at various Alfa dealers in the North and Midlands. These stories were from owners of 146 and 156 GTAs and 3.2V6 159s, so they were decent petrolheads. It is a key reason why I'm not going down the Alfa route, despite the car itself being fantastic. In other news; I finally got to drive another short list option last week; a BMW M2 manual. It was great fun, compact and comfortable. But when I got back in the RC-F it reminded me how special it feels to be in the Lexus. I also have reliability fears with BMW

  36. http://www.motoiq.com/MagazineArticles/ID/1853/Project-Lexus-IS-F-Part-2-We-test-the-PTS--Joe-Z-Series-Exhaust.aspx Found this while trawling through the net. Quite interesting reading about the power gains from the K&N intake let alone the Joe Z exhaust.

  37. These cars are undervalued and if you want to run very cheaply you would just service using cheaper non Lexus parts. The 400 is an incredibly low Β£ maintenance compared with any other vehicle. Yes any. If you fit Lexus parts you fit and forget for a long term. Barge in looks maybe but not in nature. Put in sport mode and bury that peddle. Now see. For less the cost of a Ford or Fiat cam belt change, all my pulleys, pumps, belts, tensioner are ok for 90k miles. Genuine brakes will be same Β£ as a modern saloon but will last longer and perform in s different league. Please don’t believe a word of this so Lexus owners and enthusiasts can enjoy silly prices and a range of great cars. πŸ˜‰ .

  38. an Ls400 at 100k miles is quite unlikely to suffer any costs related to suspension/steering stuff woes, nor waterpump nor alternator nor steering box and if this is a Mk3 then the steering column motors are unlikely ever to need attention. The starter motor is quite invincible too if it was dealt with under the Lexus recall for that specific Mk3 component. At about 150/160k miles one might start to need replacement bits and bobs ! 16 years driving Mk1 and Mk2 and of that some 6.5 years driving my Mk3 now at 200k miles They seem to be very often rather more robust than the Ls430 and if a UK supplied car will not have that dreaded air suspension which might start to cause issues at 100k together with the radiator/gearbox specifics too Malc

  39. So all this talk about 'free' petrol from Lexus when our cars go in for the airbag recall has got me thinking πŸ’ On my way to Bristol when I get mine done I have to go past Bristol international airport, so I thought I'd nip in and borrow one of these and see just how generous these dealers can be............... yes I accept it's a tad ambitious but if I pull it off gotta be better than some free plastic drinks bottle πŸ˜‚ Big Rat

  41. Well, after 4 years without a Lexus we're back in the club with an RX350 if all goes to plan. I've put a deposit down on this badboy http://sheffield.usedcars.lexus.co.uk/en/used-lexus/Lexus/RX-350/35-Limited-Edition-r1bkgtj I couldn't see past 10 Lexus main dealer service stamps and main dealer warranty. I've not seen it in the flesh though. We chopped the IS200 in for an SLK280 in 2013, that turned out to be a (leaking) lemon and went the same way as my IS200 with electrical gremlins caused by water ingress. Merc took it back and we got a C200 CDI (guess who's got 2 kids now) which we've still got. We had a new Touareg R-line 262bhp for a couple of years on a lease which was replaced with a new Infiniti Q30S in June. The Q30S spent almost as much time in the garage for repairs as it did on the road and was finally bought back by the dealer for a full refund. We very nearly bought a Mini Countryman Cooper S Chilli on a lease but, after contemplating the bangernomics model and looking at X5's, Range Rovers I came across a 2007 RX350 from a local dealer for Β£5k. It had no history and the guy sounded rough as hell on the phone.A quick check on the Lexus used car website brought up the RX350 at Sheffield with a full Lexus service history and main dealer warranty. It was nearly 50% more expensive but the history and warranty was worth the premium in my opinion. It's for the Mrs and will only do around 5000 miles a year. She likes the height of a 4x4, she wanted auto and heated seats, I wanted memory seats because she's 5'5 and i'm 5'11, I have gorilla arms and she's stumpy. She doesn't like less than 6 cylinders (4 is OK if it's turbo'd) and she likes at least 200bhp. I can't think of any other car that would come close to what we're getting with the RX. I've got a set of Kia winter wheels with winter rubber which were bought for the Infiniti but will fit the RX so it'll be a monster in the snow (we're at the bottom of a hill in Scotland a bit off the beaten track). Will need spigot rings though as centre bore is 7mm bigger on Kia rims. Does anyone want to swap a cream interior for a black one? How easy is it to fit rear screens to this for the kids?
