I have some more news on this no firm date as yet but it is going to be most probably the latter part of April, as regards location it has not yet been decided but will either be Coventry or Cheltenham. There will be a full range of 'F' cars and LC as well as most likely 'F' sport vehicles. One of the reasons for the uncertainties of the date is that they are trying to secure anniversary models of Gsf and Rcf which would be great. Now one major plus for us is that Tim Huxley the Dealer Principal at Lexus Cheltenham has secured the attendance of one of the LFA's , now they are usually in attendance at events as a static display but he will have the keys so at the very least we can all drool and dribble at THAT noise. Just as soon as I get more detailed information for date and location I will post it up. Big Rat3 points

Afternoon everyone! I'd like to finally introduce myself, my name is Charlie I'm 21 from Newcastle under Lyme. on Wednesday the 31st of January I purchased an absolutely perfect example of an ISF from Lexus Liverpool in Bootle, its a 2008 Starfire pearl with just 38k miles. I was trying to wait until I had actually collected the car which was supposed to be yesterday morning but due a "technical difficulty" an invoice could not be produced for some bizarre reasons but I understood that these things can and do happen. The situation has since been resolved with Lexus apologizing for the inconvenience and delay and have offered to put me in the misses up in formby hotel and spa for the night prior to collection with lifts arranged both from the trains station to the hotel and the hotel back to lexus, they have also promised a 1st class showroom experience so I'm eager to see what awaits. I'm absolutely thrilled by the experience I've had with Lexus and can not wait to pick the car up on Tuesday morning. (Bar the mess around with pieces of paper). I've been a member of the forum for about 4 years now but on the IS200 side so it's a fair upgrade but I just couldn't bring myself to part with the IS so I'm keeping it for just a daily. I really can't wait to meet all my fellow Lexus members at future events and just chatting on the forums! I don't really have any photos of the car yet, I used my eyes on the day and I thought I'd be driving away in it in 2 days time but have an advert shot or 2!😁 Thanks3 points

Welcome to the ‘F’ club Charlie, car looks very nice. Get some pics up when you get her home. Few big events coming up this year. Keep your eye on the Forum for more details. Matt2 points

Yes. Thinking about growing it out again. i guess you can’t do that....... it would get stuck in your Vidal Sassoon styled sunroof 😀2 points

After some research I opted for an aftermarket rearlip with diffuser. Had to cut off the tips bending down, but I was able to bolt on aftermarket exhaust tips on that similar to the OEM ones.2 points

Hi Just put a holding deposit on a used GS300h F Sport today so heading over to dealers next week to view and drive the car prior to finalising deal all being well. Don't want to say too much about the car till secured but so far communication and detail from the Lexus dealer has been 100% Hopefully be a new Lexus owner by end of the month and will make use of these boards and hopefully get to know some community members etc. I am a long time Honda customer and will remain so as I still have a couple of their toys in my garage, but unfortunately due to Honda UK being managed by morons they refused to bring the Accord to these Islands to much annoyance and disappointment I have opted for a GS. Been a long time admirer of the Lexus brand regardless of biased U.K. Car mags and reviewers. Japanese cars and manufacturing is hard to beat so looking forward to trying Lexus/Toyota (first time) outside of Honda, Mitsubishi and Nissan (prior to Renault involvement). more updates soon ...1 point

While working (cough, ahem) from home today I gave the GS a long overdue clean and polish. I don’t have any before pics as I was trying to crack on but I’ve plenty of after ones, I even broke out the SLR. Rubber mats for winter (£20 from eBay) are proving a good buy. Easy to vacuum and then wipe over and allows me to keep the Lexus carpet mats for summer. Having done that little (actually very big) job of cleaning the car, I did another overdue chore... Took my wife's 2011 RX 450H into Lexus Hull yesterday for its 100 K service the car has done 110 K although I can't quite remember why we didn't do the 100K service last time. Anyway got a nice surprise when I went to swap some gear over from her car to the courtesy car, there was a white CT 200 parked outside and I'd picked up a key fob assuming the CT would open up, however nothing happened but I did notice further down the line a white RX 450 F sport on a 67 plate opening up which was a nice start to my day. It seems from a dealer there's been a few high mileage RXs in this week none of them with any real issues. The service was a little pricey at £645, some additional expense at the 100k service is with the change of the coolant I believe. Looking back now over the four years we have had a car I can see we have spent around £3600 on maintenance this includes new tyres, brakes and so on. There has also an additional spend of £1000 on a two year warranty I guess given that our period of ownership has now covered 40,000 miles that that's probably a period when you can expect some significant bills in terms of things going wrong or needing replacing on the car so for me that's not an amount I am unhappy with. When I factor in my wife's car allowance she receives from work plus the benefit in kind saving coupled with the fact that the vehicle is so nice to drive we are pretty happy and I guess for anyone looking to purchase one of these cars secondhand this might give you a decent indication of what the running costs are likely to be. My wife's intention is to keep the car for as long as possible I guess the next decision at the end of the warranty will be to whether we remain within the dealer network or get servicing done more locally at somewhere independent. Naturally I was impressed with the courtesy car and some colleagues from work who I met met up with were particularly impressed with the looks. It did drive and ride a bit better than my wife's car but then you expect that for an almost new vehicle. However, I'm not really sure but I'd be willing to stump up for the difference between the value of her car and the new model.1 point

All sorted....couldn’t find a decent RSR at the right price that wasn’t miles away, and decent provenance..so bought the car at Lexus Derby....really good deal...all MOT work sorted, including 4 new tyres, 1 owner, bought from them, and always serviced by them, 1 year Lexus warranty and delivered to my house! What’s not to like! Cheers Steve1 point

@ThebigC Thanx Charlie they did but as I mentioned car detailing has never been my thing, I'm fastidious about maintenance but a bit of a bucket wash and micro cloth dry man. Ive realised that there are a few on here well more than a few and I'm going to get some advice from them so I can do stuff myself 👍 🐀1 point

Do you have an OBD reader? If not, they're quite cheap and very handy to have in situations like this. Either one that links to your smartphone to display results (between £10 and £20) or one with a built in display (£20 to £30) - they're generic so work on all cars. If you can also get hold of the adapter cable and the techstream software as well then this is what the Lexus tech's use. hint - do a search for techstream on the forum Without knowing if the same code has been logged or if it's a new code, its just guesswork1 point

Congrats on the new car @Big Rat and a happy belated birthday! I've just seen your post! Did they offer you the Gen3 package with your RCF?1 point

@ThebigC Charlie my car paint body knowledge is legendary on here...... ok maybe not anyway I'm very soon to have some expert tuition as a new owner of a black car now I'll have to change my ways 🤗 🐀1 point

Well it's not done by Lexus per say they have Gen3 come out and apply it to the vehicle themselves@Comedian. I got suckered into anyway when he said it would protect my baby I was sold 😂1 point
-
@Big Rat it really was Thursday night I was proper gutted to be told I couldn't collect Friday morning. But we got it sorted in the end! I'll have plenty of pictures for you boys don't worry! On a side note did anyone have the Gen3 paint protection done by lexus?1 point

Yes I have used Hull for 15 years as it’s my hometown and I take the opportunity to visit family and friends and I have had really great service from the team and got to know them very well. It’s always a pleasure to visit them, so much so that I don’t even mind paying the bill! Was talking to them yesterday about borrowing their LC500 next time I’m over there which they seemed ok with.1 point
-
Thanks @Big Rat as you know I've been after one for a while so I'm itching to collect it! I think I'll fit in quite well judging by what I've seen so far 😉. Credit to its previous keepers! Thanks C1 point

@ThebigC Welcome on board Charlie she's a beauty, and we all know you are going to love her, there are as @Flytvrmentioned a few odd characters on here...... but who they are will become self evident in time. The most important thing is you are a getting a previously pampered one 😁 🐀1 point

@Flytvr Yes that would be the case but im a little on the er.......little side for it to happen 🐀1 point

High voltages, yes, I could see that ending badly! Many thanks Rayaan, you've introduced just enough doubt in my mind. Think I'll phone Lexus Glasgow and ask them to do it.... You are truly a star in this community Ed PS, applied Sonax BSD, not particularly smooth or pleasant to apply but after some rain last night I am gobsmacked at the water beading and running off the car, great find.1 point
-
You can do them yourself if you know what youre doing but you will have to remove the plastic covers - plenty of online videos to watch. There should be no access problems after those have been removed Ideally, just get a local garage or Lexus to do it as you'll be dealing with pretty high voltages1 point

Now that Opel Kadett sounds special!!! Mine was my first ever car - a red Opel Kadett Estate (1196). Acceleration wasn’t great, but being brought up on a farm, I could explore the characteristics of rear wheel drive in a big open field 😀 I had a Chimaera (5 litre) - very agricultural 😀 What about you? Here it is -1 point
-
Hey Dav, i had an opel kadett many many years ago. special version, 2 door coupe and in gold color. Still remember the explosive accelleration of 23 seconds from 0 to 60. what TVRś did you have?1 point

Hi many thanks for the welcome. with regards to the new civic, it was on my shortlist for sure. I could have got a 17 car for less than the GS I potentially buy with the right engine size and spec but in the end the civic ain't a Lexus ... and I fancied a change. the new civic is a great car to drive and would be better than a GS but it's too familiar and hence the leap into this model. aye there are a few usernames on here I recognise from Honda karma forums1 point

Oh yeah LFA.. i'll be there for opening time. Cov is more central i agree...and closer to me 😁1 point
-
Can’t wait for news of the date! I’d consider a straight swap - LFA for a GSF..1 point
-
I'd certainly be up for this, more notice of dates the better though to get the wife primed! Coventry is a little more central than Cheltenham also so may be a bit more accessible for people having to travel Marcus1 point

Well Ed, the neighbourhood now surely thinks you are working for Lexus with all these different cars in such a short time!1 point

Amazing car Phil @The-Acre! Many, many congratulations! Sorry for missing your other post when you were looking for me - have been away on hols and with work :( Looks like you have a fab car. Loving the colour combo too! Happy motoring & all the best on the road trip! Now back to trying to sell mine...1 point

I see you have the GS450h Premier. Those came with LED headlights which are bright. My RX has the LED headlights too and yes, always seem to get flashed. Ive resorted to flashing back - it literally blinds them and had one guy just stop on his side of the road when I flashed. Or sometimes I just keep the High beam on until they see me and then turn them off so they know that Im on dipped beam Its the aging population and cataracts tbh!1 point

However, no one is forcing anyone to pay over the odds and no one is forcing anyone to accept under the odds. Of course it's all a game. The seller wants as much as possible for their car as does the dealer. Part exchanging is sometimes worth the loss to save the hassle of selling privately. The price we get for ours and the price we pay for theirs is not really relevant. It's the difference that matters.1 point
