  1. Pete very kindly invited me over to see his fantastic looking and sounding isf. A credit to all the work he has put in. Made mine look very standard indeed. The exhaust note is something you wouldn't believe till you heard it, ultra aggressive! Looking forward to a bluewater meet in the near future. Matt

  2. Had a drive of my dad's new RC-F the other day. A lot more different to the IS-F than I was expecting. Everything has been turned up a notch. Quicker and better throttle response, better gearbox, better intake sound and lovely steering feel, far sharper on turn in. I was surprised how light the car felt. The seats are awesome too! Made the IS feel a little old!

  3. So @wow300 and myself when hunting for an isF for last week and found a pretty good example at Lexus Cheltenham, it wasn't to be as one of us was tempted by a GSF instead all will be revealed regarding that this week 😐 Any way lots of fun was had testing the cars below all in the interests of science naturally, as well as some pictures of the Prescott Hill day. @Warrington guy Dave behave yourself looking at the RCF's leave your credit card in the wallets 😂 Big Rat

  4. Got a mate that has an ISF and a GSF......due to kids etc he changed the rear base to a 3 seat and fitted the centre belt so he didn't have to sell it, his is the GSF and the wife's is the ISF, I can't even get mine to like it let alone drive it 🙄

  6. I bought mine 2 yrs ago from Lexus Coventry, I'd had 3 Lexus previous all is's being the 200,300 then the 250. I have a brochure from 2008 when they launched the car, the blue isn't even a colour 😉.....I've always liked/wanted the red, was the 3rd I'd looked at, both previous cars were Lexus (South Woodford) a 2013 blue one with 300 miles on the clock (last one to sell) in 2014. White interior which wasn't my first option, when I'd decided to go ahead it had sold to someone upt north over the phone, the second was the directors cars with 8000 miles on it, again 2013 in black......but black is the worse colour for me, don't get me wrong they are beautiful after washing for about 10min then the neighbour cuts the grass and it starts again......my IS 250 was black. As a fairly newly wed, the wife took me to the motofest in Coventry for my birthday, sat in traffic by the showroom was this red ISF......looked lovely......anyway whilst at the show Lexus tried to tempt me into the is300h......"no thanks, the only one I'd buy would be the F but can't justify £500+ for road tax" for a car that will sit on the drive......long story short, the wife gave permission to go ahead with purchase, I love the car BUT she doesn't n what with other projects (house extension) and a large sum used on this purchase I may well find myself being the one to fight off tyre kickers or lack of calls IF I decide to sell, still hoping for a lottery win as to many signs where there when I bought mine for me not to have bought it. they all look great in all the colours and are a truly fabulous car 👍👍

  7. I had a call from Lexus asking if I'd like to test drive the new GS-F. I had to think about it but decided it was worth a go. What can I say, its one of those cars with a very large price tag which no matter how I look at it I just cant quite justify. That said after a drive in it you start thinking of re-organising those finances so that you can. I guess its just about the engine sound. Yes, the interior is quite nice, the seats very supportive and it has all the toys. It looks pretty nice from the outside with those large brakes and four exhaust pipes, but it is the engine note that you fall in love with. Whilst driving at normal speeds such as around town it drives just like any other Lexus, its refined, the gearbox is smooth and its often hard to tell its changing gear at all which considering it has an 8 speed auto is pretty impressive. The ride keeps the car flat in the corners and is solid and control over most surfaces. I was surprised just how good the ride was for a car with this type of performance. At low speeds driving normally you could almost forget that under the bonnet lurks a 469bhp 5litre motor as it drives quite sedate under light throttle. Some high power cars are just too responsive and you can never really relax in them but the GS seems to have managed to keep its Lexus pedigree under tap. Then you come to a dual carriageway and its time to switch to Sport mode. You squash that throttle hard and the gates of hell open as that angry roar unleashes from the engine & exhaust. My faces was a huge smile. It does plant you hard in your seat, the power is quite brutal. It reminded me of powerful cars from the 90's in that it's just brute power which didn't feel like it was trying to be eco friendly. The sound though, Oh I'd pay the money just for that. It is without doubt one of the nicest sounding cars I have driven under acceleration. Yes, there are quicker cars out there such as the M5's etc but they dont sound this good and lets be honest how often are you in a drag race with an M5. Id take the GS with its roomy cabin for four and fantastic ride. You could drive this car as your daily just the same as you drive the normal IS or GS range, the only difference is this one will drink slightly more of the liquid stuff but my god its worth it. Added to the bucket list.... Carl

  8. After nearly three years of ISF ownership I have finally had an exhaust fitted :) I'm in the process of uploading some videos to Youtube but unless you have decent speakers/headphones then the sound in the videos don't really do it any justice. I'll put the links to the videos up shortly once uploaded. Thanks to Pete, Stu and Gib for their advice during my quest for the exhaust!

  13. @Warrington guy I agree with Dave his sounds superb, filth I might say absolute filth 😂 now that I've got a second system having heard his number of times when the time comes I'd be prepared to travel to Cobra. His also retains the standard tips which is important to me. Big Rat

  15. @Warrington guy It's got lots of tech that just works, the head up display with mph as well as road limit mph, sport+ disabled traction control enhances intake flaps even more and also valved exhaust. And adaptive suspension to name but a few, it's a weapon 😍 🐀

  16. @Flytvr @Warrington guy @Big Rat It's from JP Exhausts in Macclesfield. Can't fault their work and seemed to know exactly what they're doing. It's from the second cats back (resonator deleted) and I asked for it loud and that's exactly what I got. I also asked for no x-pipe for the V8 burble. Now for the reason I went for somewhere reasonably local rather than taking it to H&S: If it sounded exactly like the video I'd be happy but it is way louder than it sounds in the video, (I didn't think it could be this loud whilst retaining the secondary cats) so I'm contemplating having an x-pipe fitted but I know this will reduce the burble. It burbles a little more and is louder all the time but it only sounds significantly different under load. Driving at steady speed is ok. Mine isn't a daily driver but I think if it was a daily driver I'd definitely have an x-pipe fitted as it does drone above a certain rpm or when accelerating. I can't really hear the intake flap open above 3700 rpm anymore so thinking about an intake at some point very soon as well as I'm missing the intake noise already.

  21. You can't set it to comfort - its not a system like you find on other brands It only really has 2 functions - Normal, which is what its like in Eco, normal and sport and then the stiffer setup in Sport+ Having said that, the 4RX does have an individual mode, so if its too stiff in Sport+ for your liking but you prefer the steering and throttle response, you can customise it to keep those and keep the suspension supple. But, all in all, the F-Sport will always be stiffer than the Luxury/Premier models.

  22. a lot of the checks are carried out on your mot so why should you have to pay for the checks again on your service as alot of cars will require a sevice and mot at the same time so why pay for them twice. the cars being reliable is mainly down to the engineering thats been applied whilst in design and having the correct grade of materials used in the right areas of the car therefore giving the end user trouble free motoring.

  24. Hello All, My first post and my first Lexus. I picked up my Ultrasonic Blue 2010 F this morning. Its a very impressive car. Just thought I would say hi to all on the forums and join in when I can. I was hoping to pick your brains too, newbie question! I have done a bit of research on these and have not come across any with the same wheels. They have Lexus centre caps but I am unsure if they are OEM/Optional or aftermarket? VJ

  25. As I can't amend the title of the original post I have started a new one and a link to the original is above. I am acutely aware this is a Lexus forum but it was Lexus that started me on the electric journey and a number of posters asked that I give an update on Tesla ownership. So here it is, in brief, and intended to be helpful and informative. I will of course respond if desired and if this in even a teeny weeny way helps move Lexus along the electric drivetrain journey then so much the better. The drive is fantastic . For those of you in a hybrid, imagine driving as you do now solely on the battery and multiply the experience by 10. Beautifully serene and silent, then ridiculously fast and still silent. The lack of engine noise hides the sensation of speed somewhat, and you need to be aware of that. The acceleration is immediate and it's almost impossible not to grin like a child. The regenerative braking takes about 5 minutes to get used to and then becomes second nature, if you anticipate the road ahead correctly the brakes only need to be touched when you need to come to a complete stop. Parking is not easy. It's a big car and the "hips" make it difficult to park squarely, despite the dipping mirrors and rear camera. I have never before struggled but there's something about the Tesla that makes it a slight struggle. I've only used the auto parallel parking once and it was perfect but very quick and frightened the life out of me. Fit and finish is much better than I expected, no rattles, squeaks or vibrations. I have done 3k miles in the 2 months since I got it and so too early to get carried away but the initial signs are very good. The technology is amazing, the 17" touchscreen is a delight to use and having the full screen as a nav very helpful when venturing to pastures new. There is a secondary Garmin nav in the instrument binnacle as a back up in case the permanently connected to 3/4G data connection drops, which can happen in remote of rural areas. This connection also gives Spotify and web access etc and the voice control is a million times more accurate than the ones I've experienced before. The range and charging. I bought the 60 kWh which has a 75kWh pack and was software limited to 60kWh. Real world mileage between 160-200 miles depending on conditions and speed. Rain, cold and speed impacts on range dramatically. Driving in mild/warm conditions at or around the speed limit improves range considerably. This is of course no different to "normal" cars but the refuelling process is not as quick. That said, I charge at home overnight using Economy 7 drawing 8kW of power, equivalent to a cooker. This gives me a full "tank" every morning and I only have to consider refuelling if my daily drive is going to exceed 150+ miles. I've used the Tesla Supercharger network half a dozen times, and the battery has been recharged sufficiently in the time it takes to go to the loo and grab a coffee. Since purchasing Tesla have dropped the 60 kWh battery option and reduced the price of "unlocking" the 15kWh to turn mine into a 75kWh. I paid to unlock so now have the 75kWh, which equates to a usable battery of 72.6kWh. The attached pic shows that I have a lifetime average of using 330Wh per mile. Real world range is so far 220 miles, compared to what Tesla say is the average for my car, 239 miles. Ignoring the fact that the Superchargers are free, using Economy 7 means I am paying 2p a mile for fuel, compared to 15p a mile (based on 35mpg I used to get on my NX). A couple of explanations of the pic icons, the greyed out speed limit icon shows adaptive cruise is ready to be activated, and the greyed out steering wheel shows autosteer is also ready. A double pull on a steering column lever will activate both, and the car with drive using the camera, radar and sensor suite. The driver must maintain contact with the steering wheel, and if the car doesn't sense occasional hand resistance, i.e. up and down torque resistance, not a tight grip, the car will nag and eventually disengage "autopilot" and bring the car to a stop. The power meter on the right shows the energy burn over the last 30 miles (other options available) with the wiggly line showing deviation from the "typical" usage. This photo was taken whilst I was stopped at traffic lights by a passenger. The radar sees the car in front, and often the car in front of that as the radar bounces underneath the car in front. Downsides? The only part of the financial equation that stacks up is the "fuel" cost, everything else requires a healthy dose of man maths. That's not a problem in itself, man maths to one degree or another is employed as soon as you deviate away from the cheapest vehicle that will get you from A to B. Long journey's take some thought and research into your travel pattern is a must IMO before you buy. There are Tesla owners doing 30k miles a year plus, so high mileage in itself is not a barrier. Not having the ability to charge overnight would be a major challenge, but some do it, particularly if you live close to a Supercharger. The competition? There isn't any. Yet. The sooner it arrives the better as that can only be good for everyone. The Jag I Pace seems to be the closest one to actually coming to market, the rest are vapourware. Unfortunately ask Jaguar about a nationwide network of high speed chargers and its a mumble about "that's on the way". Where, when, how are met with more mumbling. Sorry, I did say brief.. That's about as brief as I can be. Hope the mods don't mind me posting this, it was born out of genuine interest from Lexus owners.

  32. In my 6 months of ownership, no problems. I can only speak for the RC but the adaptive, variable suspension can only be set to be firmer (when selecting Sport+ mode.) there is no specific 'Comfort' setting My understanding is that in all other modes the suspension constantly adapts to one's driving style (enthusiastic, sedate etc..) and the road surface. Putting the car into Sport+ mode forces the suspension to adopt the most firm setting all the time. In my experience this setting is much too firm for driving on our usual 'A' and 'B' roads. The car becomes fidgety in the corners and is easily deflected .. Probably fine on well maintained surfaces and race tracks

  38. The 460 has electrical steering and, apparently, there are quite a few systems earthed through a connection on the steering box itself. I don't know enough about the 430 to know if that will help or not. Once the connection had been cleaned, and a lacquer coat applied, the difference to the radio reception was amazing.

  39. I suggest you read the original post again OP said he is with Lexus Insurance Lexus insurance specifically say that the car is repaired with OEM parts should something happen and they charge a handsome insurance premium for the privilege. Therefore if I'd forked out £1.5k (what I was quoted for Lexus insurance) I'd be wanting an OEM screen with the Lexus markings on.

  40. within the last week lexus / toyota increased their servicing prices our Auris service went up £5 yet the IS went up £40 Why or is it just because they can. new prices listed here https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/servicing-and-maintenance/#ServicingYourLexus

  45. Reading this thread brings back some frustration memories and even when I did get it work, the 'connected services' really was a bit lame. I don't bother connecting the Lexus these days. This is what I can access using our other car, no need for phone data access to be shared with car, it all just works, even my webmail access :). Syncs to my calendar so I can see up coming events the first time I get in the car every morning, and even do split screen to display two Apps at same time. I can even track the car when its been driven via my phone, can also lock/unlock, start/stop climate control/charging, put it into 'valet mode', turn lights on/off all from the phone, so just a tad more advanced than what the IS can do :) Lexus has ALOT of catching up to do on the infotainment front.
