  2. As per the title, I got my LC500 today. Here's a quick picture. All seems good so far. I need to set up all the gadgets next.

  4. I have some more news on this no firm date as yet but it is going to be most probably the latter part of April, as regards location it has not yet been decided but will either be Coventry or Cheltenham. There will be a full range of 'F' cars and LC as well as most likely 'F' sport vehicles. One of the reasons for the uncertainties of the date is that they are trying to secure anniversary models of Gsf and Rcf which would be great. Now one major plus for us is that Tim Huxley the Dealer Principal at Lexus Cheltenham has secured the attendance of one of the LFA's , now they are usually in attendance at events as a static display but he will have the keys so at the very least we can all drool and dribble at THAT noise. Just as soon as I get more detailed information for date and location I will post it up. Big Rat

  5. Afternoon everyone! I'd like to finally introduce myself, my name is Charlie I'm 21 from Newcastle under Lyme. on Wednesday the 31st of January I purchased an absolutely perfect example of an ISF from Lexus Liverpool in Bootle, its a 2008 Starfire pearl with just 38k miles. I was trying to wait until I had actually collected the car which was supposed to be yesterday morning but due a "technical difficulty" an invoice could not be produced for some bizarre reasons but I understood that these things can and do happen. The situation has since been resolved with Lexus apologizing for the inconvenience and delay and have offered to put me in the misses up in formby hotel and spa for the night prior to collection with lifts arranged both from the trains station to the hotel and the hotel back to lexus, they have also promised a 1st class showroom experience so I'm eager to see what awaits. I'm absolutely thrilled by the experience I've had with Lexus and can not wait to pick the car up on Tuesday morning. (Bar the mess around with pieces of paper). I've been a member of the forum for about 4 years now but on the IS200 side so it's a fair upgrade but I just couldn't bring myself to part with the IS so I'm keeping it for just a daily. I really can't wait to meet all my fellow Lexus members at future events and just chatting on the forums! I don't really have any photos of the car yet, I used my eyes on the day and I thought I'd be driving away in it in 2 days time but have an advert shot or 2!😁 Thanks

Yes it works great the guy I use up here travels the world doing it on luxury yachts so it must be good stuff especially if it's used on aircraft too.i think I've had mine done for just over a year now it gets a 10 year guarantee so not bad. I actually need to go back as I've just had the front bumper sprayed

  11. Decided to follow up on this sat nav build, since I never got round to it. I bought the 7" housing a couple years ago, and bought a cheap Chinese GPS off eBay, then when it got here, realised it didn't have an AV input (for reverse cam that I also want to install), and when I tried to send it back under their "no quibble 14 day UK distance selling regulation" return policy, they would only accept returns to China, even though they were advertising as a UK seller! Complained to eBay and got full refund, inc postage, and was able to keep the GPS! So they've both sat here for a couple years doing nothing, until I decided I should really give it a go, hopefully with help on the wiring (my achilles heel) from a work mate, after I put in the physical build work. So, the other night I ripped it apart; Did a quick. slot in, test fit with the tablet; And then set about ripping the tablet apart - the connectivity is all on the side of the unit, and there isn't room inside the housing to plug anything in. I'd have to rip it apart to get to the PCB anyway, and I wanted to relocate it if possible, thus avoiding having to solder directly onto it for power etc With the PCB loose, I can easily plug a USB cable in for power without having to solder directly onto the PCB, thus making the USB port still operational if I need to plug it into a computer for updates etc. Then, I broke a wire off the PCB! Turns out to be the wire that lets the battery charge, so I can still boot up at the mo, but not charge. Not the end of the world because it will have constant power once in the car and wired in Anyway, with a couple holes drilled in the back casing to cable tie the PCB down, I glued a couple of crude wooden blocks to the sides of the housing. Reason for this is it holds the tablet perfectly snug and tight, but allows me to pull the tablet out if need be - more on that later; The reason for being able to slide it out is 1) in case I need to plug it into my computer for anything, and also 2) this is just the test bed. Because this GPS owes me nothing, I'm happy to experiment with it (I've also compromised the screen ribbon cable, so it's a bit iffy displaying an image), but if we can get this all working how I'd like (which is to try to replace the GPS on/off switch with a trigger, so that it powers on with ignition and off again with power cut) then I'll buy a newer one, this time with the AV input for reverse camera, and possibly also with bluetooth so I can (hopefully) connect my phone to it for handsfree (the idea is I can plug the 3.5mm jack from my Grom into the tablet, and possibly solder a separate mic onto it, rather than use the internal mic, which of course will be inside the housing. Also, I spotted this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/361119746945?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT which would be good to connect to the microSD card slot on the PCB, run it behind the head unit and under the console and maybe have it come out in the ashtray? That way I can load stuff onto a regular size SD card and hot swap it on the move, rather than having no access to the mSD slot without removing the entire tablet. Wiring is my problem - I can't solder and I'm useless with electronics! But hopefully a work colleague is gonna help me try and get it all working. Plan is to wire the power for the housing to a computer molex connector, and then tap into the cars wiring for that power, to another molex - making it completely removable, rather than hardwired (should I want to sell it or move it to another car later on). As for power for the tablet, the plan is to simply use the USB to cigarette power adapter, but wire a female cig socket (probably into the wiring for the existing cig lighter) and just mount it behind the dash and plug directly into it - again making it simple to unplug if need be. And hopefully, with the newer tablet, I might be able to get this logo to be the default splash screen during boot (can't get it to work on the current one)

  12. Great story and credit to Lexus Liverpool. When I picked up my F from Lexus Stoke I noticed a lack of fuel in the car. The salesman said “There’s a supermarket not too far away and you can get fuel there”. Quality

  13. Met the dealer and the car today! Hope to pick up the Lexus GS at end of this month so deal in principle done and agreed. Just need to fund the remainder of balance owed. Full details on when I pick up the car (tempting fate)! All information supplied by dealer was pretty accurate and they appear a decent bunch of guys. Very accommodating.

  14. Quick update on today's treatment from Lexus. Absolutely top class as you'd expect, Liverpool Lexus really pulled out the stops for me on this one after Fridays hiccup. Nice easy train journey to Liverpool with a beer in hand.. picked up by Leigh from Lexus in the brand new LS500h premier.. chauffeured to Formby Hall to be checked into the executive loft suite! Lexus you have me for life like it or not. Can not wait to collect the car tomorrow.

  21. Copyright "winglets" immediately! In the world of sticking any possible spoiler type thing on your car I believe they are called 'Canards'. Bonus points to anyone who sticks a duck (preferably French) on their front bumper and posts a photo. P.S. Diffusers are for winners! Get one!

  26. Bank 1 and Bank 2 refer to the banks of cylinders on the V. So the V configuration of the engine has 3 cylinders on each bank. Each Bank has 2 O2 sensors, primary or upstream called sensor 1 and secondary or downstream called sensor 2.

We go off Kilometres and not Miles over here but I thought I might add on this page.... my series 2 Ls has just clocked over 1,100,000 klms on the odometer!! equivalent to 800,000Miles! and might I also add... it has a full genuine Original purchased from Lexus dealership service history!! not one service has been missed by the lexus guys for its whole life ! it still drives like it would of the day it left the showroom floor. original engine, never had a head gasket or anything done !!

  33. Yes I have used Hull for 15 years as it’s my hometown and I take the opportunity to visit family and friends and I have had really great service from the team and got to know them very well. It’s always a pleasure to visit them, so much so that I don’t even mind paying the bill! Was talking to them yesterday about borrowing their LC500 next time I’m over there which they seemed ok with.

  35. Not exactly, The F-Sport white is referred to as "Glass flake" paint. In a sense, its a metallic colour but without metal bits. It shimmers in the sun and will go slightly blue. Sonic White is a pearl colour - one of the best colours in the Lexus lineup at the moment. Its an evolution of Arctic Pearl

Acceleration wasn’t great, but being brought up on a farm, I could explore the characteristics of rear wheel drive in a big open field 😀 I had a Chimaera (5 litre) - very agricultural 😀 What about you? 42. No offence meant Peter but questions like this always make me wonder why this is relevant to anyone? Why not just fill up when the needle indicates 1/4 tank or before. Before I converted to LPG I would never go below 1/4 tank of petrol because all sorts of nasty things can happen so it's just not worth the risk. If you always fill up before, or at, the 1/4 mark, you'll never need to know the answer

  48. No difference that I can see to the interface, just appears the map data has updated (although when I was updating it did do a ten minute software update). I presume any software update was done behind the scenes. For me it was defo worth it because my maps were from 2012 and now I have updated maps for some major roads such as parts of the A1 north of Leeds which has changed since then. Not sure if people with 2015 onwards maps will find an update that useful yet.
